Send us a textThe New York Giants' offseason plans might be shifting in a surprising direction. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants are starting to look elsewhere with their No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. With growing speculation that they have their sights set on an elite non-QB prospect. Meanwhile, ESPN has floated the idea of the Giants trading down from No. 3. A proposed trade with the Carolina Panthers would send the No. 3 pick and a 2026 fifth-rounder to Carolina in exchange for the No. 8 pick, a second-round pick this year (No. 57), and a 2026 second-round pick. This trade scenario becomes even more interesting if Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are already off the board by the time the Giants pick, suggesting the team may prioritize adding multiple assets instead of taking a quarterback early. In roster news, the Giants have re-signed linebacker Ty Summers. At 6'1" and 241 pounds, the 29-year-old played in all 16 games last season, recording 29 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass deflection. His PFF grades were mixed, with a strong 78.3 run defense grade but weaker marks in coverage and pass rushing. Summers played 112 defensive snaps and was a key contributor on special teams with 272 snaps. Evan Neal's future along the Giants' offensive line remains uncertain, but GM Joe Schoen revealed that Neal is now open to the idea of moving to guard. This is a stark contrast from his strong stance in 2023 when he insisted he was an offensive tackle from birth. While Schoen did not commit to a positional switch, he emphasized that Neal is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team. Another looming decision for the Giants revolves around play-calling duties. Head coach Brian Daboll has not yet determined whether he will continue calling plays in 2024. NY Post's Paul Schwartz reported that Daboll plans to evaluate the situation through spring and summer before making a final call. Co-owner John Mara previously questioned whether Daboll should relinquish play-calling duties, stating that while he wouldn't demand a change, it's a discussion that will continue. Ultimately, the choice remains in Daboll's hands, and it could have a major impact on the Giants' offensive performance next season. The Giants also have several former players currently competing in the UFL, which kicked off its season on Friday. The Arlington Renegades feature former Giants S Joe Powell and LB Tuzar Skipper. The Birmingham Stallions have multiple ex-Giants, including LB Tae Crowder and QB Case Cookus, while the D.C. Defenders boast former first-round CB Deandre Baker. Other familiar faces like Corn Elder, Deon Jackson, Quincy Roche, and Jashaun Corbin are also in the league, along with former Giants coaches like Mike Nolan and Marc Colombo. With the NFL Draft approaching, trade rumors swirling, and key roster decisions still to be made, the Giants are entering a pivotal stretch. Will they surprise everyone by passing on a quarterback at No. 3? Will Evan Neal shift to guard? And will Brian Daboll hold onto play-calling duties? January 27, 2023 - Season 13, Episode 79 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the latest couple of players that the Pittsburgh Steelers signed to Reserve/Future contracts this past week. Those two players are wide receiver Dan Chisena and outside linebacker Quincy Roche. What's the latest on Steelers senior defensive assistant Brian Flores? Alex and I make sure to answer that question early in this Friday show.Steelers team president Art Rooney II started his annual media rounds on Thursday with three separate interviews so Alex and I go over the several main talking points to come out of those. It makes for a long segment, but we make sure to be as thorough as possible in covering everything that was pertinent.Rooney talked a little about Steelers' veteran backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky and his 2023 status on Thursday so that makes for a bit of winded conversation between Alex and myself. With the annual East-West Shrine Bowl and Senior Bowl weeks now upon us, Alex and I make sure to carve out some time to do a little preview of those two college all-star games. The NFL's Conference Championship games will take place on Sunday so Alex and I make our picks against the spread for those two contests later in this show.We mix in other Steelers talk throughout this episode that is not noted in this recap post and as usual, we close down this show by answering several emails we received from listeners of the show.
Dan and Nick break down the Giants' 2022 season predictions by diving into their thoughts on which Giants players will be sleepers, breakouts – and sadly – busts. We celebrated yesterday so today we have to ask the awkward question-is John Means' greater value with the Orioles or as a particularly incredible trade chip? Late in Hour 1, Baltimore native Quincy Roche (New Town) joined us to discuss what it was like to be drafted by the Steelers, how awkward it is for some friends and family and the chip on his shoulder after falling into the sixth round. Early in Hour 2 we went in the kitchen with Kyle for some sweet potato wedges. Near the bottom of Hour 2, a surreal conversation with legendary actor Edward James Olmos about his new golf movie "Walking With Herb." And we wrapped the show by chatting with the legendary Bob Baffert about winning his fourth Kentucky Derby with Medina Spirit and why he prepares himself to lose in the Preakness.

1. The Lions begin yet another different regime with new GM Brad Holmes and new head coach Dan Campbell. And this roster has tons of pressing needs from top to bottom. So, the Lions have quite a difficult decision to make with that 7th overall pick. Given the unprecedented amount of uncertainty surrounding this draft, should they trade down and add even more future picks to their arsenal? Or if the last of the top four QB’s falls in their lap, do they stay put and take that QB and have him spend a year behind Jared Goff? And what if Penei Sewell and/or Ja’Marr Chase some how make it to seven? What should the plan of attack be for Campbell and Holmes? 2. This is a make or break year for Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer. And the Vikings have an OL and a defense in urgent need of upgrades. Which of those two areas should they prioritize with the 14th overall pick? 3. If you think Spielman and Zimmer are facing such a make or break season, Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy are yelling “hold my beer” in Chicago. Personally, I think both of them should have already been fired. Yet they remain, and there is some buzz that the Bears are eyeing a move up the board. And it may not only be a QB they may be targeting in such a trade up. They may also be eyeing a tackle. If Penei Sewell and/or Rashawn Slater fall to 8 or 9 and neither the Panthers nor Broncos are able to move up for the last of the “big four” QB’s, would it be wise for the Bears to trade all the way up to get one of the top two OT’s? It might not be far fetched given that the Panthers and Broncos would highly consider moving down in such a situation 4. Last season, the Packers made it to the doorstep of the Super Bowl no thanks whatsoever to their 2020 draft haul. In order for them to get over the hump in 2021, should they draft more immediate impact players than long-term projects? If so, at what positions could they use an instant boost? 5. Lions Mock Draft -1 (7): Micah Parsons -2 (41): Christian Barmore -3 (72): D’Wayne Eskridge -3 (101): Walker Little 6. Vikings Mock Draft -1 (14): Alijah Vera-Tucker -3 (78): Quincy Roche -3 (90): Andre Cisco 7. Bears Mock Draft -1 (20): Mac Jones -2 (52): Asante Samuel, Jr. -3 (83): Stone Forsythe 8. Packers Mock Draft -1 (29): Elijah Moore -2 (62): Jabril Cox -3 (92): Derrick Barnes
