Jazz, rhythm and all the very best of blues and swing from the past century, reaching as far back as the thirties and taking in some of rock royalty from the early fifties. This week we're snapping fingers and cutting the rug with some of the very greats including Wynonie Harris, Buddy Johnson, The Five Royales, The Cadillacs, and a touch of gospel vocal majesty from Marie Knight and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. The themes are wide-ranging, taking us from the woodshed to the urban streets and some Cadillac competitions and we'll also get with the stuff that's arrived and is oh so mellow. Night trains, sugar lumps, boogie woogie daddies and tall skinny papas rule the roost. Don't miss out, even if you're a night owl you'll want to take these sounds with you into the early hours of tomorrow. Let me off uptown, would ya?

On today's episode, we've mentioned it plenty of times on the pod, but now we're finally talking about one of my favorite parody films that skewers the teen movie genre, and that's a film called Not Another Teen Movie!! This movie was written by Michael G. Bender, Adam Jay Epstein, Andrew Jacobson, Phil Beauman, and Buddy Johnson and was directed by Joel Gallen. This movie stars Chyler Leigh, Chris Evans, Jamie Pressly, Eric Christian Olsen and Mia Kirshner. We also have appearances from Deon Richmond, Ron Lester, Lacey Chabert and some other fun folks from the teen movie sphere.Joining me for today's episode is author and musician, Tara Giancaspro!! We chop it up about this parody film and about teen movies in general. We go a little all over the place, but this movie kind of just requires that!! Locked On Steelers – Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Steelers
Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Wes Uhler of Steeler Nation Radio. The Pittsburgh Steelers made moves to complete their 53-man roster Tuesday, including trades for Malik Reed, linebacker of the Denver Broncos and Jesse Davis, offensive tackle of the Minnesota Vikings. Both are needed depth pieces as Reed is a good backup for T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith while Davis can help beef up the offensive line. But more moves are needed to address the roster's weaknesses and that means signings for players like Alex Leatherwood and trades for key players could be on the move.A breakdown of the 53-man roster explores decisions to cut Anthony McFarland while keeping Benny Snell, Derek Watt, and Jaylen Warren; Mark Robinson beat out Buddy Johnson and Marcus Allen at linebacker; and the Steelers kept seven wide receivers with Miles Boykin, Gunner Olszewski and Steven Sims all on the roster while only nine offensive linemen are on the roster.CALL INTO THE SHOW AT 412-223-6644 or if international, e-mail your audio message to LOSTEELERSTOPICBAG@GMAIL.COMFollow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques.Theme music is 'Soul Kick' by Ceddy P, and 'Too Easy' by Nerdboy. Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the Post-Gazette joined the show. Ray talked about his final 53-man roster projection, including some of his cuts. Buddy Johnson is the odd man out at inside linebacker and Anthony McFarland is the man left behind in the backfield. Chris, for Donny's sake, pointed out the omission of Hank Mondeaux from Ray's 53-man. Ray said it could be a busy year for the Steelers on the waiver wire. Ray suggested what the Steelers could do to help the offensive line going into the season. Ray broke down where the team stands at WR and who might miss out on the final 53.
The Steelers finished up the preseason yesterday, but did it come at a cost? The guys are not happy about how long the starters, especially the stars, played against the Lions. TJ Watt and Diontae Johnson left the game with injuries, and Damontae Kazee is lost for the season. Mike Tomlin defended his decision to play the starters and thought the offensive line played OK. If he had those thoughts, the guys think he was on another planet. There is no reason to risk some of the best players on the team. A player not happy with things in Pittsburgh is Mason Rudolph. There have been trade rumors heating up and the Steelers have been getting calls for the third string QB – what would it take for a trade to happen? Jeff said it was a good job of acting by Brian Flores to build up Devin Bush. Flores and the Steelers believe in Mark Robinson, but they say Buddy Johnson would be ahead of him on the depth chart. Jeff said that the Dime defense could be a solution to the ILB woes. Jeff weighed in on the QB battle.
Mitch Trubisky took every first team rep in practice today. How much of a battle will it be? Kenny Pickett took third team reps behind Mason Rudolph. Chris reiterates the point made by Mike Florio – that the pick is wasted if Pickett can't jump Rudolph on the depth chart. We heard from Trubisky after his first day in practice as QB1. 93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. Jeff reported Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph did not get a single first team rep as they all went to Mitch Trubisky. Jeff chalked that up to being the first day, saying it was a very controlled atmosphere. Jeff described Trubisky as “ehh” after day one. The guys asked Jeff about what's going on with Diontae Johnson after the WR basically sat out the first day. Jeff talked about a rotation of guys at inside linebacker with Myles Jack, Devin Bush, Robert Spillane and even Buddy Johnson for tomorrow. He shared his thoughts on what Cam Heyward had to say in response to Ben Roethlisberger. Poni asked for an offensive and defensive MVP from day one – George Pickens and Carlins Platel.

July 1, 2022 - Season 12, Episode 146 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking more about the interview that new Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi had on SiriusXM NFL Radio a few days ago. We go over the main talking points from that interview and that includes us discussing his current health. How will the Steelers quarterback depth chart shake out this summer and is it plausible that Mason Rudolph might be traded for a fifth-round draft pick? Additionally, what is the probability that rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett starts the 2022 season as the No. 3 on the depth chart.Alex and I go over research I did on quarterbacks selected 20th overall or later in the last 20 years that started Week 1 of their rookie season. The list is only eight in total. The Washington Commanders recently signed wide receiver Terry McLaurin to a lucrative contract extension so we discuss the early numbers of that deal that have surfaced and the potential impact they might have on the Steelers signing wide receiver Diontae Johnson to an extension later this summer. Will the Steelers have any first-time Pro Bowlers in 2022? We discuss the likeliest candidates as it relates to that topic. We also talk about a recent film study that Alex did on Steelers guard Kevin Dotson. As part of us continuing to preview Steelers players ahead of training camp get underway, Alex and I spend the Friday show discussing Cameron Heyward, Connor Heyward, Alex Highsmith, Myles Jack, Donovan Jeter, and Buddy Johnson in this episode. As usual, we close out this show by answering a few emails that we received from listeners.

93.7 The Fan reporter Josh Rowntree joined the show. Josh joined following the Minkah Fitzpatrick press conference. Josh commented on what we might see from the defensive play calling this season, but there isn't much given away yet, since so far has been a lot of walk-thru type practices. Josh talked about who will have more input – Teryl Austin or Brian Flores. He said Austin is the defensive coordinator, but the impact from Flores will be “significant.” Josh said Devin Bush made it known that he had some fear last year playing on his injury, but appears to be over that fear, which could make him a better player. He doesn't think Flores will put up with Bush being a “tentative” player in a real game. Josh thinks Flores could have guys ready to roll, like Robert Spillane or Buddy Johnson, if Bush can't get the job done. Josh thinks Bush will be the best of the Steelers inside linebackers. Poni asked Josh about how Terrell Edmunds feels with the strong safety battle, but Edmunds believes he's the unquestioned starter.
A passionate opening rant from Poni after Minkah Fitzpatrick talked about his contract extension with the Steelers. Minkah described the playoff loss to Kansas City as “embarrassing.” Poni said a lot of recent playoff performances fall under that category, even before Minkah's career started. He said there should be a lot of pressure on Mike Tomlin and the entire staff going into the season with the number one paid defense. If not, things must change. 93.7 The Fan reporter Josh Rowntree joined the show. Josh joined following the Minkah Fitzpatrick press conference. This week we feature the musicians that Dylan played seven times on THEME TIME RADIO HOUR, including country and early rock & roll acts. In "20 Pounds of Headlines," we round up news from the world of Bob Dylan, including speculation as to what future installments of the BOOTLEG SERIES might be in the works. In "Who Did It Better?" we ask you to tell us who did "Take a Message to Mary" better, the Everly Brothers or Bob Dylan?
