James Franco visits Google to discuss writing, directing, producing and starring in his film "The Disaster Artist.” The movie is based on Greg Sestero's best-selling tell-all book about the making of Tommy Wiseau's cult-classic disasterpiece The Room, often referred to as “The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made”. In the film, Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero become friends after meeting each other in an acting class in San Francisco. Hoping to achieve Hollywood stardom, Sestero moves to Los Angeles and signs on to appear in Wiseau's project. Financed with his own money, Wiseau writes, directs and stars in "The Room," a critically maligned movie that becomes a cult classic. The film also stars Dave Franco, Seth Rogen and Zac Efron. Oh hi Mark! Well, I guess this was inevitable. You can't have a B movie podcast and not talk about THE ROOM. Tommy Wiseau's magnum opus, if you can call it that. In this episode, we try to psychoanalyze Tommy, and get inside his mind. We wanted to figure out just what the hell he was going for with this movie. I guess that was our first mistake. Considering how important The Room is to the lives of the Boob Tube Boys/Motion Picture Men, is it any surprise that they were able to talk about it for so long? Today's episode covers the back half of the Tommy Wiseau-led ‘movie' and the guys encounter what could be the greatest couple of scenes ever put to filmThere are angry old ladies, water bottles being flung, a couple of full-blown heel turns, and of course the many, many bizarre costumes, actions and words of an Eastern European man with a dream and a boatload of money to try and make the dream come true. Oh and Denny is still here! So grab your football and your photo of a spoon and tune in!Skit 1 Featuring Lauren Schill: 50:10Skit 2 Featuring Ruan Willow and Lauren Schill: 1:57:10
On this edition of the Richard Crouse Show we'll meet Noah Pink, screenwriter of a new movie called “Tetris,” starring Taron Egerton, and now playing on Apple TV+, that tells the story of how Dutch video game designer Henk Rogers fit the differently shaped pieces of international intrigue and video game creation together to secure the intellectual property rights to popular game. It's a story of international intrigue, the Cold War and of the deep friendship that grew between entrepreneur Henk Rogers and the game's Russian creator Alexey Pajitnov. Then, Gregory Sestero, star of the found footage film “Infrared.” In the film he plays the creepy caretaker of an abandoned schoolhouse. If Greg's name rings a bell, it's likely because you've attended one of the midnight madness screenings of “The Room,” a movie so deliciously awful, it has become a cult favorite since its release in 2003. Gregory turned the experience of making the so-bad-it's-a-hoot movie into a book, which eventually went on to become the Oscar nominated movie “The Disaster Artist,” starring James Franco and Seth Rogen. We talk about “Infrared” and whether or not, twenty years on, if “The Room” is an embarrassment or a source of pride. Finally, we go to the vault to hear a vintage interview I did with Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman. We don't talk superheroes, instead, the actor gets personal, talking about the projects that worked, the ones that didn't and what drives him.
On this week's Richard Crouse Show Martin Freeman stops by. You know the Emmy, a BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award winning actor from playing Tim Canterbury in the original British series of “The Office.” He was Dr. John Watson in the British crime drama series “Sherlock” opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, Bilbo Baggins in “The Hobbit” film trilogy and will soon be seen in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” reprising the role of Everett K. Ross. Today we'll talk about his newest project, the critically acclaimed police series “The Responder,” now playing on Brit Box. Then, we meet Emmy-award winning documentary filmmakers Dan Geller and Dayna Goldfine who have created a fascinating look at iconic Canadian singer and poet Leonard Cohen called “HALLELUJAH: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song” that uses one of his most famous songs as a starting point. We'll find out why one of Cohen's most famous songs was rejected by his record company and more. Later in the show we'll meet Gregory Sestero, star of a new found footage film called “Infrared.” In the film he plays the creepy caretaker of an abandoned schoolhouse. Greg Sestero is an actor who starred in one of the worst movies of all time, The Room, directed by Tommy Wiseau. Sestero wrote about his experiences producing and starring in The Room in the book, The Disaster Artist (also made into a feature film comedy where he was played by Dave Franco). For Sestero's latest film as an actor, it's a turn from the unintentionally funny to the intentionally scary with Infrared, a found footage horror movie that will be screened for one night only at Luna Leederville on Friday March 4th. The story concerns a brother-sister pair of ghost hunters and a film crew making a TV pilot episode in a haunted, abandoned high school owned by Sestero's character. Movie Squad'sTristan Fidler talked to star Sestero and the directors Robert Livings (from Perth) and Randy Nundall Jr (from the UK).

Greg Sestero's probably best known for one role in his career - as the pretty boy Mark in Tommy Wiseau's cult comedy-drama-thriller-schlockfest The Room. Staff Writer Deirdre Molumby talked to Sestero when he was in town to promote his new film, Best F(R)iends, his first time working with Wiseau since The Room, about how coping with being recognised is treating him and what Tommy Wiseau is *actually* like.

Crooked Table Podcast - The world of film from a fresh angle
Rob and Kai marvel at the mountain of terribleness that is Tommy Wiseau's cult classic The Room. It may be hard to make a great movie, but it's quite possibly far more difficult to create something this bad. Yet, The Room has become an insanely quotable phenomenon spawning a behind-the-scenes book and an in-the-works film adaptation from James Franco. "What a story, Mark" indeed. This special edition of CTP serves as the first "Crooked Commentary" episode, and we're excited to hear your feedback as the show continues to evolve. As usual, the podcast does feature explicit language and, as such, is best considered NSFW. Thanks for listening! Subscribe to the Crooked Table Podcast on iTunes so that you never miss a moment! Movie Meltdown - Episode 283 This week we welcome special guest co-host Greg Sestero, better known to many people as Mark from The Room. We discuss his early days getting into acting and how he met Tommy Wiseau and came to be involved in the making of his infamous film. Plus we hear about Greg documenting all these stories in his book - The Disaster Artist, about the making of The Room. Plus we gladly welcome Greg to sit-in for our Sofa Theater discussion on an arguably "bad" movie from a young Brad Pitt entitled - Johnny Suede. And as we discuss wild dogs running in the streets, we also mention… Ricky Nelson, Home Alone, Solarbabies, Drive, Ed Wood, Double Indemnity, instruments that grant wishes, Power Rangers, John Hughes, Bucharest, Romania, A streetcar Named Desire, Under the Skin, Javier Bardem, Breaking Bad, psychedelic lightning, Jami Gertz, very personal, Uncharted, The American Dream… Tommy’s journey… and this unlikely friendship, Spring Breakers, Richard Linklater, Guardians of the Galaxy, Stanley Kubrick, it’s the type of movie that laughs at itself, but then it takes itself seriously, an acting class in San Francisco, Boyhood, two robot women, Only God Forgives, Russian and French, a writer from Entertainment Weekly, Grizzly Adams, Miami Connection, Patton Oswalt, shooting films in the library,it was sort of like a sick fantasy… to have a packed house watch this movie, Sunset Boulevard, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Saga, the worst girlfriend you could ever ask for, 5 Second Films, I’ve learned my lesson… you never know what project you do that an audience is gonna respond to, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, kids begging on the streets, being a musicologist, So I just kind of… got on the roller coaster… and just accepted where it was going to go, Living in Oblivion, Ten degrees below zero, Cool World, a vanity project gone horribly wrong, Howard the Duck, The Killing, depressing and realistic, leave your stupid comments in your pocket, Andrew W.K., Volumes of Blood, James Franco, Billy Wilder, he kind of made the movie work, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Retro Puppet Master, obliterate every scene he was in and a VHS copy of Mazes and Monsters. Spoiler Alert: Minor spoilers for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Room and Johnny Suede. “I always felt like, the story behind it was even more amazing. More baffling.” For more on Greg and “The Disaster Artist” go to: http://www.thedisasterartistbook.com/
Episode 16. Jean and Angus muse about good Jail TV and how they’d fare in the big-house, plus we chat about ultimate creepy old man, Rolf Harris. Our special guest is actor and author of The Disaster Artist, GREG SESTERO. You may know him as Mark from “the Citizen Kane of bad movies” The Room. We talk to him about bad movies, the naiveté of youth and the enigma of Tommy Wiseau. Did you know that Jean was responsible for bringing The Room to Australia? Did you know that Angus is one of the early Australian fans of The Room? Stream or download here or listen via iTunes or Stitcher. A bumper edition of Quality Time!
