The Parramatta Eels still have 3 teams in the hunt as we enter Week 2 of the Junior Representative Finals. The Lisa Fiaola, Tarsha Gale and SG Ball Cup squads all venture out to Penrith on Saturday to try and punch tickets to the grand final qualifiers. The preview podcast has a bit of news to cover first though with the development in the NRL around the release of Joe Ofahengaue. Sixties and Forty20 share their thoughts on the move, Joe's time as an Eel and what it means for the club. How do the Lisa Fiaola and SG Ball bounce back from losses last week? Can the Tarsha Gale keep rolling on? Which players and what strategies will be key in these sudden death show downs? The show covers all three games in depth and the paths to victory for each team.
All four Junior Representative squads have qualified for the finals which means it is a loaded docket for The Tip Sheet as Sixties and Forty20 preview a huge Sunday at Leichardt Oval for the Parramatta Eels. The boys breakdown how the Eels line up across the SG Ball, Harold Matthews, Lisa Fiaola and Tarsha Gale and look at their respective match-ups. The Ball, Matts and Gale will clash with fierce opponents they met earlier in the season while the Fioala will meet the Central Coast Roosters for the first time in 2025. Steve Georgallis joins the show to give even greater insight into how each team is traveling. He reviews all the crucial Round 9 results with Craig and John and how each of the four squads will transition into finals football. Steve also shares an exclusive first look at Parramatta's newest NRLW recruit in Fleur Ginn. It all adds up to a cracking discussion as the club gears up for a massive push into the postseason.
Some updates to the video. It's a top 8 system in junior reps this year, so in SG Ball the 5th placed Illawarra Steelers play an elimination final against 8th placed Melbourne at 2:30pm on Sunday at Collegians. In Tarsha Gale Cup the 1st placed Steelers take on the 4th placed Panthers for a week off, loser gets a second chance at 11:30am Sunday at Collegians. Finally in Harold Matthews Cup the 1st placed Steelers take on the 4th placed Knights for a week off with kick off at 1pm on Sunday from Collegians
We enter the final round of the regular season in the Junior Representatives with all four Parramatta teams either right in the hunt or having already punched their tickets to the finals. The Tip Sheet previews the games against Canterbury and Manly for the girls and boys respectively taking a deep dive into the rosters and match-ups this week. Sixties and Forty20 also follow up on their look at the future prospects of the SG Ball from last week with a similar breakdown of the Tarsha Gale.
We enter the penultimate round of the regulation season of the Junior Representatives and The Tip Sheet previews a blockbuster Saturday at Eric Tweedale Stadium with all four grades in the hunt. Sixties and Forty20 analyse the four match-ups and look at where each game can be won. The boys also have an extended discussion about the outlook of the SG Ball and how the Parramatta Eels will look to transition the talent in this team towards the NRL.
Steve Georgallis is back on The Tip Sheet to talk all things Junior Representatives, NRLW and Greek rugby league! Sixties and Forty20 quiz him about how each of the pathways squads are tracking as they enter the final leg of the regular season with the Lisa Fioala and SG Ball still boasting undefeated records. The show looks at what the Tarsha Gale and Harold Matthews need to do to turn things around and then turn to the latest news from the NRLW as the competition promises to be bigger and better in 2025. Steve also shares his experiences from his recent trip to Las Vegas where he oversaw the Greek rugby league teams. (Apologies about the audio issues near the end. The Parramatta Eels are in the process of finalising a move to their new headquarters at Kellyville and given that process - ideal podcasting spaces weren't exactly flush about!)
The regularly scheduled episode of the preview podcast is interrupted by breaking news about the severity of Mitchell Moses' foot injury. Sixties and Forty20 react to the projected 6-week layoff for the Parramatta star and how suddenly the Eels have spiralled into an injury crisis out of nowhere. Eventually though, The Tip Sheet does manage to preview the weekend docket of games starting with a huge day at Eric Tweedale Stadium where the Junior Representatives run from 10:00AM with the Lisa Fioala Cup all the way through to 6:00PM at the conclusion of the SG Ball. With the ladies taking on the Panthers and the gents facing the Raiders, the show looks at how all four teams line-up and how they are set to fare on Saturday. In the midst of that madness is the Jersey Flegg who kickoff at 1:00PM as they jet over all the way to Hammondville in Canterbury-Bankstown to take on the Fiji Silktails. While the Eels haven't quite named a full line-up - and by that I don't mean full strength mind you but rather not all 17 players named - the boys look at the 15 players who are set to take part in the game and how Parra can get off to a win to start the season. Finally, the show preview the main event as the pluckiest underdogs who ever plucked look to stage a legendary upset of the Melbourne Storm on Sunday afternoon. Sixties and Forty20 fiendishly plot the ways the Eels can steal a victory over the Round 1 specialists that are the Storm.
Mitchell Moses missing Parramatta's Round 1 blockbuster against the Melbourne Storm was not how the Jason Ryles era was meant to kickoff. The fact that he heads an extended unofficial injury list is incredibly unfortunate and it sets the tone for the early discussions in this episode of The Tip Sheet. Sixties and Forty20 evaluate where the Eels stand with the team named to take on the Storm. Ronald Volkman has been named to replace Moses while Ryley Smith makes his NRL debut. Is this the best team Ryles could have named all things considering? The Junior Representatives are over the hump round are three teams posted victories on the weekend. The boys wrap up all four games as the Lisa Fiaola and SG Ball continue their undefeated runs while the Harold Matthews finally put it all together against Penrith. The Vegas debrief looks at a mostly lopsided slate of results. Was four games too many? Sixties argues that three games might be the sweet spot moving forwards. The Warriors looked a mile off the pace against the Raiders while Cronulla and the Panthers battled to the final moments - what were the takeaways from Round 0?
0:00 - Intro 05:04 - Eels News 50:24 - NRL News 1:24:45 - Previews --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are just over a week away from the Parramatta Eels launching their 2025 season but in the meantime Tip Sheet has plenty of news from Parradise and the NRL to cover. Sixties and Forty20 bring you the latest from the Parrramatta Leagues Club as the results of the elections and special resolutions are made public. Sixties was also in attendance for the official season launch and recaps all the important details from a big night at CommBank Stadium. The boys do a final review of the trial result against the Tigers and where the Eels stand heading into Round 1 before reliving another stunning comeback victory for the SG Ball. The NRL news is unsurprisingly focused on the Round Zero action in Las Vegas and it starts with the big brouhaha inside the Raiders. Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies landed themselves in hot water after a stoush over room arrangements but how serious was the matter? The show then quickly previews all four games before looking at some minor signing news. The show closes out with a look at the four Junior Representative games on Saturday as the Eels look to overcome the Sharks in the Fiola and Gale and the Panthers in the Matts and Ball.
The Illawarra Steelers will look to bounce back from their first loss of the year against the Warriors in New Zealand
With just two official games on the weekend docket, The Tip Sheet is set for a relatively quiet episode as Sixties and Forty20 preview the NRL trial against the Tigers and the SG Ball clash against the Rabbitohs. However, huge news out of Redfern involving Cameron Murray and Latrell Mitchell means the boys have to check in on South Sydney first. The Parra previews start with the SG Ball as the Blue & Gold are looking to back up a heart-pounding victory against the Sharks last week. They host the Rabbitohs at Eric Tweedale and welcome back some big boppers. Can the Ball knock over their undefeated opposition and stay at the top of the table? Neither the Eels or the Tigers named full strength rosters this week but there is still plenty to be excited about on Friday night. Sixties and Forty20 look at the key positional battles, who we are getting look at this week and what Jason Ryles will be wanting to see out of his charges at Leichardt Oval.

The Steelers look to be a contender on paper, but they need to put it together on the field and their first test is against the Melbourne Storm. Can the Steelers U19's Men get it done?
The Parramatta Eels have a new captain! As expected, Jason Ryles has turned to Mitchell Moses to lead the Blue & Gold into a new era. Sixtes and Forty20 breakdown what the appointment means for the player and club. Junior Paulo and J'maine Hopgood were expected inclusions for the leadership group but new recruit Jack Williams continues to make waves as he too earns a place on the panel. The Tip Sheet recpas the last week in Parradise including a camp in Lennox Head and news that Josh Addo-Carr is officially clear to play in Round 3 against the Bulldogs. Sundry news includes a fan day at CommBank Stadium this saturday and upcoming Parramatta Leagues Club elections for the board. The NRL is full of good-news/bad-news this week starting with the Rabbitohs. Latrell Mitchell is clear to play Round 1 but Campbell Graham has a new injury. Ditto for the Tigers where Jarome Luai looks good for his club debut in Round 1 while fellow Penrith recruit Sunia Turuva is now in doubt. At the Dragons, Shane Flanagan has secured the services of Emre Guler effective immediately while the future of Francis Molo is still up in the air. The podcast takes a moment to acknowledge the passing of South Sydney great Gary Stevens. Junior Representatives are back this weekend and the show runs through four rapid fire previews of the Lisa Fiola, Tarsha Gale, Harold Matthews and SG Ball. The ladies are on the road to Canberra while the lads head to Cessnock to face the Raiders and Knights respectively.
The Niche Cache is back for another journey into the New Zealand sporting abyss where we find Max, Ben and Juan Mata. After a quick comparison between Te Maire Martin and Shaun Johnson from the 2024 NRL season, we take in some mindfulness. Then we chat through how Steven Adams is poised with Houston Rockets and the best kiwis competing for finals spots in the NBL. Auckland FC have a habit of scoring late goals in the A-League and Alex Paulsen is still delivering excellent goalkeeping mahi, while Wellington Phoenix Men have a solid defensive record with a core crew of young players. Wellington Phoenix Women have moved into the A-League finals mix and Super Smash cricket is moving towards finals so we touch on a few key points. Canterbury have Matt Boyle picking up from where Rhys Mariu left off and the Kerr sisters are dominating. An otherwise quiet news week for the Parramatta Eels and The Tip Sheet was rocked by revelations that Dylan Brown intends to test the market. Sixties, Forty20 and guest host Muz leap into action to discuss the massive development. How concerned should fans be? What is the plan of action for the Eels? Why was his manager linking YouTube highlights to rival clubs? The boys agree there is no need to panic right now and to let the footy do some talking for both Dylan and the Eels. In other Parramatta news, Tim Mannah has joined the Eels Foundation as an ambassador while the next fan day is looming on the 1st of February. Sixties recaps the junior representative trials against the Canterbury Bulldogs with good showings from the Harold Matthews and SG Ball. Who will make their debut first in 2025? The show looks at the likely candidates to be the first NRL debutante under Jason Ryles. Joash Papalii and Jordan Samrani are popular picks but who else is in the running? Clinton Gutherson and Damien Cook will lead the Dragons in 2025 - were their appointments a surprise for anyone? Eli Clarke looks set to call the Shire his new home while Yvonne Sampson becomes the voice of rugby league for Las Vegas this year. Up in Brisbane, Blake Mozer has reportedly gotten the jump on his rivals at dummy half while Dean Ieremia leads the NRL injury report with some awful luck after rupturing his Achilles.

Despite a tough weekend just past, it is now a huge week for the Parramatta Eels on multiple fronts. In the NRL it is Old Boys' Day against the North Queensland Cowboys as the Eels look to get back on track. The Junior Representatives hit Leichardt Oval across Saturday and Sunday as their finals series finally gets underway with the Lisa Fiaola, Harold Matthews and SG Ball all looking to make moves. Sixties and Forty20 are joined by Steve Georgallis as he helps preview all three games as well as providing some fascinating insight into the preparation and coaching processes that go into these finals matches. The boys then launch into a monster series of previews from the Junior Reps right through to the NRL. How do the young prospects of the Gale, Matts and Ball punch a ticket to their respective grand final qualifiers? How do all three of the senior squads even their keels and get back on track?
The Parramatta Eels are only 2-3 after 5 rounds in the NRL but the warning signs are clear as The Tip Sheet looks at where the Eels are letting themselves down. Sixties, Forty20 and Clint revisit the brutal loss to the Raiders before discussing the changes made by Brad Arthur for Round 6 - which just so happens to be Old Boys' Day for the club. There is some good news this week. The Lisa Fiaola, Harold Matthews and SG Ball squads are all in action in Week 1 of their respective finals series. Brent Read says the Eels are closing in on a Lomax announcement this week in another sliver of sunshine amidst the gloom right now. Just how bad was the Dom Young high shot last round? Was it a send off? The boys discuss the mechanics of the tackle and why the right call was made...but why wasn't similar discretion used back in Round 2 with Jarome Luai? Is Trent Robinson going too far in the defence of his team following this incident and the Leniu/Mam racial row earlier this year? South Sydney and Latrell Mitchell find themselves in the headlines again following a brain explosion from the Rabbitohs' fullback. Mitchell received a 3-week suspension for a nasty elbow strike on Shaun Johnson in a weak showing from the match review committee. Where does it leave the Bunnies as leaks threaten to sink the team and their coach?
The traditional Easter Monday derby between the Parramatta Eels and Wests Tigers is upon us once more as Sixties and Forty20 run their eyes over the public holiday blockbuster. First things first though, the boys breakdown the games that have already taken place with the junior representatives playing out their final regular season games of the year. The Lisa Fiaola, Harold Matthews and SG Ball squads all booked their place in the finals while the Tarsha Gale finished their season on a high with a thumping defeat of the Panthers. Breakthrough wins are up for grabs for the Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup this week - so how do they go about achieving them? Change could come to the Cup squad one way or another this week so how do they potentially shape up. The NRL preview sees an amped up Tigers, fresh off a monster win over the Sharks, taking on our Eels in a blockbuster at CommBank Stadium. Brad Arthur has turned to Blaize Talagi to replace Mitchell Moses while Maika Sivo makes his return from suspension on the left wing. Sixties and Forty20 point to Clinton Gutherson and J'maine Hopgood as the key men on Monday before giving their tips for an Eels' win.

Round 2 of the NRL sees the Parramatta Eels take on the Penrith Panthers in a fixture that has become an annual blockbuster for the code. Sixties and Forty20 are fired up to preview the Friday night grudge match but there is plenty of footy to go around this weekend with the Eels in action across 7 grades. The Lisa Fiaola and Tarsha Gale host the Central Coast Roosters and Canberra Raiders respectively at Eric Tweedale Stadium. The boys head down South this week to take on the Storm in the Harold Matthews and SG Ball. The Fiaola and Matthews squads are looking to lock in their places near the top of the ladder while the Gale and Ball look to reignite their seasons. The Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup teams are both taking on the Panthers. Both started their seasons with first up losses in Round 1 and will be looking for the rapid fire bounce back. Can they get it done?
A gargantuan Saturday looms for the Parramatta Eels as a whopping 7 games take place from the Lisa Fiaola Cup all the way through to the season opener of the NRL. Sixties and Forty20 hunker down as they preview all of the action. The day starts with the Lisa Fiaola as they ready for a Top 4 tussle with the Roosters while their senior cohorts in the Tarsha Gale scheme to spring a massive upset against the Roosters Indigenous Academy. The Harold Matthews will be looking to consolidate their place in the Top 4 but the SG Ball need to bounce back from a 2-loss skid. There are plenty of familiar faces in the Jersey Flegg this year and it looks to be an exciting squad. How will they fare against the Bulldogs in Round 1? The NSW Cup team is punctuated by the inclusions of Blaize Talagi, Ethan Sanders, Matthew Arthur, Charlie Guymer and Brock Parker. Can they be the sparks to start the season running? Finally the NRL kicks offs in 2024 for the Eels with a clash against the Western Sydney rivals in the Canterbury Bulldogs. The Dogs have spent big in free agency and have a raft of new faces in their team this week. The Eels, by contrast, only added Morgan Harper and Kelma Tuilagi - which team is better positioned as a result? The boys lock in their predictions ahead of what should be a bumper crowd at CommBank Stadium on Saturday night.
Forty20 and Clint close the book on the 2024 preseason following Parramatta's triumphant journey to Ipswich on the weekend. The boys debrief one last time on the preseason and how the Eels shape up ahead of Round 1 against the Bulldogs. The Junior Reps were on the road again - this time in Wollongong - as they split the board against the Steelers. Wins for the Harold Matthews and Lisa Fiaola were balanced by losses for the Tarsha Gale and SG Ball. Parra news is rounded out by the board election results and the fallout from Maika Sivo's 3-game suspension. While the NRL may be heading to Vegas this week there is plenty of news at home. Starting with the World Club Challenge and the finals results from the Preseason Challenge Cup through to the ill-advised actions of Luciano Leilua - The Tip Sheet has it all covered this week. The show wraps up with an extended look at the state of the game in America and England before previewing the Round 0 games at Allegiant Stadium.

Sixties and Forty20 get their first chance of 2024 to preview the Parramatta Eels as they take on the Canberra Raiders in a trial match this weekend. Before that though, the SG Ball are in action on their lonesome in the Junior Representatives as they take on the Balmain Tigers. Can the Ball make in 3 wins on the trot to start their season? They have fought hard for victories over the Warriors and Sharks and now get to host the Tigers at Eric Tweedale Stadium. Who has caught the eyes of the boys and how will they go about securing the win on Saturday? Brad Arthur has named an exciting trial team headed by young guns Blaize Talagi and Ethan Sanders so what should we all be watching out for on Saturday? There are multiple positional battles to be played out in the backline while Kelma Tuilagi gets a chance to impress in the starting backrow.
Mixed fortunes marked the Eels in the first week of the Junior Representatives as the Harold Matthews and SG Ball chalked up Round 1 wins over the Warriors while the Lisa Fiola and Tarsha Gale fell to the Bulldogs. The latest from the NRL preseason as well as an update from the chairman head the Parra news. What is his real value and did the Broncos get a good deal? One star is staying in the NRL but could another be on the move to rugby union? Speculation about Joey Manu's future in the code has intensified this week and the boys place their bets and how the cards will fall. The show rounds out with a preview of Round 2 in the Junior Representatives as the Eels travel to the Shire to take on the Cronulla Sharks.

The show starts with NRL training though as the preseason ramps up massively. Sixties details some fierce opposed work over the last week. Next up is the Parramatta Council sponsorship deal which has been slashed massively after pushback in the media and community. What does the new deal mean for the Eels? Viral star Viliotu Masila has crossed 135,000,000 views for his sensational try. Where does his clip rate in the pantheon of NRL media? The boys finally get around to discussing the rules change regarding kickoff and dropout restarts. Did the game need this? Will it change game strategies? The show looks at it from all angles before getting into the NRL news. Tevita Pangai Junior wants back into the NRL with the former Bulldog having a shocking change of heart and mind as he unretires and declares an intention to play for the Broncos. No one on the show is surprised. The Dragons have been busy as they bring Raymond Faitala-Mariner on board and are now circling Christian Tuipulotu. How do these moves rate for the Red V and their new coach in Shane Flanagan? Wayne Bennett has flagged an intent to coach the Kiwis. The temperatures are starting to soar and the humidity is settling in at home as the preseason ascends to its frenzied peak. The Tip Sheet swelters along as Sixties, Forty20 and Clint return for another busy episode as the Eels dial the preseason up to 11. Sixties opens the show with a tribute to one of the longest serving members of the Parramatta Junior League as Barry Guy finally clocks off after a storied career. It is followed by a report of the sizzling session by the NRL as they look to conquer the Wanda sand dunes. Parra news is rounded out by a focus on men's health, junior reps, the Blue & Gold Alliance Christmas drinks and a report about the Eels signing an Australian grid iron prospect to their SG Ball squad. Staff writers are in the firing line again this week after an embarrassing gaffe involving Dane Laurie. Who are they? What are they? How can they get something so wrong? The boys discuss the fallout from the egregious mistake. In the NRL the player market is still waiting to see where Jarome Luai and Addin Fonua-Blake land. Neither the Tigers nor the Bulldogs have been able to get a deal over the line and now Cronulla have thrown their hat into the ring for 'AFB'.

The Parramatta Eels farewelled CommBank Stadium in 2023 with an ugly, error-riddled effort as the Roosters finished them off with a 34-12 defeat. All parties got it wrong for the Eels as coaches and players combined for frustrating repeat failures - including a seeming allergy to defending scrums. Sixties and Forty20 lambast the lack of effort and the technical failures of the team given the Roosters - who were far from great themselves - were able to run away with the win. The conversation turns to the future and what lies ahead for the Eels in 2024 and beyond. How does Parramatta reinvigorate their roster? Who can they even target? There was a sliver of light beaming through at CommBank last night though. The NSW Cup curtain raiser saw the Eels knock off the Roosters with a huge contingent of Flegg (and even SG Ball eligible) players carrying the torch. Joshua Lynn and Matt Arthur starred while other prospects like Charlie Guymer and Sam Tuivaiti stood tall in the 22-12 win. Their progress over the upcoming preseason becomes a point of pivotal focus given the state of the NRL roster for next year.
With the NRL and NSW Cup squads on the bye The Tip Sheet turns its focus to Parramatta's Jersey Flegg squad and the wider NRL action in Round 18. Sixties and Forty20 analyse how the Flegg can build on their win over the Sharks last week as they host the Wests Tigers on Saturday. With Ethan Sanders back healthy and Matt Arthur slotting into the starting team, the SG Ball spine has been fully reunited in the grade above. Can that be the catalyst for a late surge towards the finals? In the absence of senior Parramatta games, the boys run their eyes over the full round of NRL and give their tips for the weekend.
Before we head up to the sunshine state for Magic Round, the Rabbitohs Insider brings you the latest from Sutto and Ello in the Playmakers, five key facts you need to know before our clash agains the Sharks, a special celebration of our junior representative teams and SG Ball player, Isaiah Vailalo gets a very special surprise thanks to Wotif.
