My good friend Shaun McCloskey does a workshop once a year called the Business Vision Workshop. I've heard Shaun teach this stuff a million times, but it's always good to be reminded of these things and to really think about what kind of business do I want, what kind of life do I want, right? One of the coolest exercises they do in this workshop is sit down and think about what your dream day would look like. If you're only doing what you love and money doesn't matter, what would your dream job look like? It's an exercise in designing what you ultimately want your business and personal life to look like. Some people want to travel the world with their families; others want a fancy car and a nice house. Whatever it is, work backwards and figure out how many deals and how much money it would take to get there. You might be surprised to find out that you don't need to hire a bunch of people or spend a lot of money on fancy software to get there. Shaun McCloskey and I go way back. We've known each other for about 17 years, and he's been on my podcast a lot. I've been in Shaun's coaching programs for years. He started off teaching and doing short sales and pre-foreclosures, and my wife even hung her real estate license under Shaun in his office as a broker. I learned a lot about real estate from him. Shaun also started Leadership Boardroom about seven years ago, which I have been with ever since. I highly recommend that program. Shaun has been sharing some things in our group that I thought would be good to chat about on the podcast. Shaun coaches hundreds of high-achieving people, helps them create a vision for what they want their life to look like, and then helps them design a business around that. For the few of us who do create a vision, how much effort are we really putting into it? Here, Shaun and I talk about taking our vision seriously and how to plan our daily and weekly activities around it. Shaun has an event coming up in February, and I'm going to be there. Check out all the details at BusinessVisionWorkshop.com/freegift.What's Inside:—The importance of creating a vision for your business.—How to make sure you're working towards your vision every single day.—Info about Shaun's upcoming event.

Shaun McCloskey is a real estate investor, author, and coach. He helps thousands of real estate investors optimize their business and get their business up and running. In today's episode, Shaun explains why it is critical to have a Business Vision, and exactly how to create an empowering one! Key Takeaways: You have to start with a vision for your business. Shaun likes to work/use his goals in four-month chunks. You should look at your vision, business plan, goals, and tasks like you look at your bullseye target. Each ring has a purpose. You can't hit your goals unless you know what your business plan is. The same applies to your business vision. Feel like you're spreading yourself too thin? This won't happen if you have a vision! Richard Branson has seven-plus businesses, but he didn't start them all at the same time AND he isn't the operator of each of those businesses. Just the owner. What do you NOT want in your life? Shaun asks Alex what he wants in life? It's important to have your values and the characteristics of who you want to work with. Dare to dream. Suspend reality for just a moment and open your mind. Inner work is hard work! Step one is to write down your vision. Write it down! Don't have it stuck in your head. Be careful who your role models are. It could mean losing everything you're striving to protect (family). You can have any type of business you want. So why settle? Ever feel like you have to modify your lifestyle for your customers? Because you're afraid they will leave you? What is Ikigai? Know yourself. Really know yourself and live your true self while scaling your business. What is your genius zone? What makes you happy? A good coach gets you moving forward. Things are so much easier when you have clarity in your life. It's important to identify where you are right now. Do this today! Build a map on how you can get from where you are today to where you want to be. What can you expect at Shaun's upcoming workshop on March 12th? HINT: You will leave Shaun's workshop with a clear Vision for your Business, and an actionable plan. Shaun McCloskey, Ron and Angela’s guest, is getting real about having a life vision and a life plan. He coaches business owners on creating and sticking with their vision and he's seen too many people burn out running a business that was really running them… too much divorce and too much unhappiness. Listen to hear how having a life vision and plan can keep you heartache down the road.
Today’s guest started his real estate journey just like most people—he started out totally clueless. Fast-forward 14 years and he’s now one of the most successful real estate investors in the country. If there’s one real estate story many people can relate to, it’s Steve Cavanaugh’s. Steve once worked in a job he didn’t like, worked more hours than he’s supposed to, and was living pay check to pay check. When he realised he wanted to be financially free and real estate is the avenue that can help him achieve said objective, he started totally clueless. However, what he lacked in knowledge he made up for in grit, resourcefulness, and determination. If you need motivation, inspiration, and a little nudge to start your real estate journey, this episode is exactly what you need to hear! From the outside looking in, Shaun McCloskey was a successful real estate investor and making a ton of money doing short sales and pre-foreclosure investing. But deep down he know that he was working way too much and becoming consumed by his business. He needed a better balance, and a better vision for his business. Today Shaun discusses the Lifeonaire strategy that he discovered, and how it helped him redefine his relationship with his family, with success, and with the debts he had taken on to build his business. He also explains how anyone can design their own vision for what you want your life to look like, and then reverse engineer your business to make sure it serves your vision Shaun also tells us why the worst day of his life was the day he made $102,000 on a deal, and how he felt when he lost $87,000 on the first deal he ever did after losing his job. He's since gone on to do over 300 deals and only lost money three times. Shaun is also a featured speaker at the RPOA's annual Real Estate Investor and Landlord Conference & Expo, which is happening February 22-24 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. You'll definitely want to hear him speak live, and you can register for FREE at www.rpoaonline.org For anyone who works too hard and wishes they had more time to spend with their family and friends, this episode is for you!
Shaun McCloskey has been a real estate investor since 2001 and is the co-author of the book Lifeonaire, a philosophy not dedicated to money, but to a long-term vision for your life. On today's show, Alex and Shaun will not be focusing on real estate investing. Instead, they'll be talking about why having a vision for yourself will make you a happier person. The truth is, being a millionaire will not solve your problems, living a life with purpose will. Key Takeaways: Are you not happy with a certain area of your life? Don't miss out on this episode. If you don't have a vision for your life, then what direction are you going in? Alex discovered Lifeonaire around 4 years ago and has applied a lot of what he has learned into his life. What is a Lifeonaire exactly? For many millionaires, they don't know how to live a meaningful life beyond their business. What good is making a ton of money if you don't have anybody to share it with? Lifeonaire isn't about money, it's about having your business support your lifestyle. This isn't to say money is not important because it is. Money does solve problems, but it isn't the one and final answer to everything. A lot of people can tell you how to build a profitable business, but very few of them can tell you how you can have a life in that process. What holds people back from building their life vision? Facebook can be very, very deceiving. Goal-setting and setting a vision are two very different things. How can you have fun and be present with your family now instead of waiting to blow 10 grand at Disney? Shaun's father worked himself to death, essentially. He died at 53 years old. That ‘someday' to spend more time with his family never came for him. The vision you have for your life is more attainable than you think. Alex wanted a beach house, but Shaun took him down a path of ‘why' seven levels deep. Alex ended up finding out the real ‘why' he wanted a beach house. Struggling with debt and ‘achieving your dreams'? Then you'll want to listen to what Shaun has to say on how you can get out of that rat race. If your vision is clear enough, you'll do unbelievable things like eliminate debt, reduce expenses, and live a much, much better life. What's the process towards finding your vision? Start with your personal vision first and then build your business plan. Alex highly recommends you go to Amazon and buy the Lifeonaire book and then if it's peaked your interest, attend a workshop. It's worth it. The Flip Empire Inner Circle Want to close more deals and generate more revenue? Have questions you want to ask me? In this episode, I’m driving home from hanging out with a group of investors at a late dinner. They had gathered in St. Louis to attend an event hosted by Shaun McCloskey. I wanted to use this episode to announce that Shaun and I will be doing another coaching training at the end of July. This is to help those of you who are considering branching out into the field of coaching. A good friend, Steve Cavanaugh, who is a great coach in his own right, will be with us for the event. If you’re interested, use the link below. Also in town for Shaun’s event was Christina Krause. There’s a recent episode on Real Estate Investing Mastery podcast where I interviewed her and discussed her service, Postal Impact. I share the kind, complimentary remarks she said about my listeners. (That would be YOU.) Remember to make a note about the coaching workshop coming up later this summer in July. Use the link below to get more information.
In this episode we have a very special guest join us by the name of Shaun McCloskey! If you have not heard of Shaun or his program called Lifeonaire then you are in for a special treat. In this episode Mike and David interview Shaun about his business; lifeonaire, and also how having a vision is […]
This episode is a little different than others I’ve done—it’s because I have a guest with me in the car. That’s right. Shaun McCloskey is riding along with me as we discuss our upcoming coach training workshop. Shaun is not only my friend and business associate, but he’s also my neighbor. (Sometimes he needs to come to my house to borrow my high-speed internet connection—we live out in the country.) Early on, when I was first getting started in the business, Shaun was my coach and mentor. I observed as he got started coaching others, and how the coaching part of his business slowly evolved. Shaun admits that at first, he had no knowledge of setting and keeping boundaries nor about charging for his services. Those two problems alone almost caused burnout. He’s come a long way since then, and he and I together want to help others start their own coaching businesses. Shaun and I know that a person can be a great coach, but lack the skills of marketing, selling and making conversions. We want to train you on all aspects of the coaching business.

This is Part 2 of my literal “In Your Car” episode with Shaun McCloskey. He’s literally in my car with me as we record. If you have not listened to Part 1, episode #167, you need to do that first, because Shaun and I are driving around and we’re in a deep discussion about coaching […]
This is Part 2 of my literal “In Your Car” episode with Shaun McCloskey. He’s literally in my car with me as we record. If you have not listened to Part 1, episode #167, you need to do that first, because Shaun and I are driving around and we’re in a deep discussion about coaching and the coaching business. Shaun and I are business associates, we’re actually neighbors and we also share a love of coaching (we love helping others succeed). It’s for this reason that we’re putting together another coach training workshop. This will be our second, and it will be held in our hometown of St. Louis. Shaun’s coaching has expanded from working with real estate investors to coaching high-end business owners. I add that to emphasize that this coach training workshop is not solely for coaching real estate investors. This training will benefit anyone in any field. Shaun and I both have successful coaching businesses, which means we know the inside workings of how to build the business. This can include the importance of selling, marketing and converting prospects to become your clients.
Mondays always tend to remind me how much I love what I do. Because I’m living the lifestyle that I love, I have no need to dread Mondays. How about you? Well, in this episode, I’m covering several areas including what it means to be a good coach. I talk about workshops past – Shaun McCloskey and I conducted a coaching workshop where we taught others the ins and outs of the coaching business – and about upcoming workshops as well. Shaun’s been in the coaching arena for about 10 years, and I’ve been coaching for about 6 years. So together we bring a huge amount of knowledge to the table. You’ll hear me going over some of the requirements necessary to be a good coach.
When I started out in real estate investing, my very first coach was Shaun McCloskey. I appreciated his coaching because he had a heart and a passion for helping others. Such passion, in fact, that for a long time he simply did it all for free. Years have passed, and now Shaun and I both have successful coaching businesses, and we both have that passion for helping others. In this episode, I give Shaun the floor for him to talk about how his coaching business evolved from a freebie situation to charging for his services. His insight presents a great backdrop for the new workshop that we are developing. Shaun has had experience not only in coaching, but also in teaching and training others to coach. He can point to a long list of successful coaches he trained. Shaun and I both are often asked how others can get started in the coaching business – so much so that we’ve decided to answer that – and we’re setting up a workshop for those interested and the details are all here.

I love closing deals. And I enjoy the lifestyle this business gives me. But you know what gives me more joy than anything else? It’s watching my coaching students apply what I teach them and go out there and make a killing. Seeing their lives totally changed because of their investing business. In this episode, I reveal unfolding plans for workshops that will help you learn how to coach. I’m partnering up with Shaun McCloskey in this venture. This will serve to expand this coaching concept even further. The more coaches there are, the more successful people there will be. It’s all a win-win. This is how much I love coaching, and how much I believe in the benefits of coaching. You may want to get in on this.
The 40-hour workweek is a thing of the past. Corporate employees are tallying up many more hours every week, but why? If technology is supposed to be the proponent of leisure time, why do we spend so much time working, traveling to work, and getting ready for work? Today's guest, Shaun McCloskey from Lifeonaire, says people have a default and when they find themselves with extra time on their hands they automatically do what they know, which is work. Also, they have never taken the time to consider what they want from life or to explore any hobbies. His Lifeonaire – taken from millionaire but with a life – program is focused on figuring out a person's vision of what they want their future to be. Key Takeaways: [2:11] Focusing on having the life you want instead of money in your account [5:59] Some people don't even know what they love because all they do is work [8:30] The Four Stages of Lifeonaire [11:27] Would you be living life differently if you only had 6 months left? In this episode, I’m talking with the coach of coaches, Shaun McCloskey. Shaun started flipping houses in 2003, but when deals became sporadic from month to month, he transitioned into coaching and ended up not only making money for himself but really loving the fact that he was helping others in REI. Shaun and his business partner, Steve Cook, started the uber-successful coaching program called Lifeonaire. And in fact, I was in one of Shaun’s first group of students. So in today’s episode, we’re talking all things coaching – the real estate information selling business. We’ll talk about why we love coaching, how to spot a fake, the various coaching methods and more. And like I said, Shaun really is the coach’s coach, so let’s not waste any more time – get to it…

Anyone who’s ever started a business from the ground up knows how frustrating it is to be the one responsible for everything. Sure, it may seem necessary at first, but the real danger lies in letting yourself get stuck there – or even worse, believing there’s no other way your business can work. After all, no one’s going to care as much about “doing things right” as you, right? Well…sort of… Here’s the truth: The success – or even the survival – of your real estate business is intrinsically tied to your ability to run your business like a business. And that means learning how to effectively leverage other people in your business. All small-biz investors struggle with this… And some will tell you that a real estate investing business can’t be setup and run this way, with others doing most of the work. I say that’s baloney, and my business is solid proof of that. So today I pretty much only do the part of my business where I bring the biggest value. And in this podcast episode, you’ll learn how I cracked this code – how I learned to focus on my core strengths in marketing and systems, while effectively delegating other aspects of my business to an amazing team. Listen to this podcast, take notes, & you could do the very same thing for yourself and your business.
