Google has made a couple of big announcements recently, and they could impact your small business SEO strategy. Let's chat about what's happening, what they're changing, and what they're saying you need to do to remain visible online. First up, Google released its first official guidance on AI optimization. They've also said you don't need to say AEO or GEO; in their eyes, it's all just SEO. You can read their official guidance here - https://developers.google.com/search/docs/fundamentals/ai-optimization-guideSecond, they're changing the search experience, and most queries will be answered by AI, not via a list of links on the search results page like we're used to. Finally, what does this mean for your small business? It means you need to make sure you're doing SEO, you've adjusted your content strategy to focus on what they call non-commodity content, and you're following SEO best practices to keep your business visible in this new online search experience. If you're already in Simple SEO Content or working with me 1:1, you're fine, everything we're doing is correct and is in alignment with the new guidance. If you're still trying to do this on your own, now is the time to start working together. Join me in Simple SEO Content or work with me one-on-one, and I'll guide you through what you need to do to remain visible so you can generate leads and make money. What can employers learn from the employment lawsuit filed against MrBeast and the infamous “How to Succeed” guide? In this episode, we explore why neutrality in HR practices, employee handbooks, and workplace policies is critical to managing legal risk and fostering a fair workplace culture. Drawing lessons from some of the best and worst employee handbooks in corporate America, we discuss how policy language can shape employee expectations, influence workplace behavior, and create unintended liability. Tune in for practical guidance on drafting clear, consistent, and legally sound workplace policies. We take a look at the state of the green building sector through the lens of itss biggest dedicated show in the UK, Futurebuild. It on 12–14 May this year and you can sign up here.Helping us to peek behind the curtain is the event's director, Martin Hurn, a man who is, ultimately, responsible for it all.It seemed with a conversation because this year Futurebuild was acquired by a new owner and repackaged to become a super event. The green building great big networking event has merged with UK Construction Week and the Stone and Surfaces Show. In light of this we get into the history of Futurebuild that sheds a little light on how the impact of changes that it's going through right now are a little more like a return to its roots. The episode has a bit of a long wind up because we've included a chunk of preamble in which Jeff explains his background to Martin which wasn't intended for the episode but it ended up revealing similarities, and differences, in their backgrounds that felt worth including. Both Martin and Jeff have been in this working within the business of the built environment for about the same amount of time (early 00s), and both coming from publishing backgrounds. They've seen the heydays, boom times, and catastrophes created by the Celtic Tiger and the UK's solar subsidisation and feed-in tariffs. Consequently, the pair of them are able to offer a some illuminating and interesting perspectives on where they see the sector at this strange point in time.We also let Martin plug the show. And, at the end we do get around to asking ‘how sustainable are events?'Notes from the showRegister with Futurebuild 2026 for your event passThe Futurebuild website Martin Hurn on LinkedIn **SOME SELF-PROMOTING CALLS TO ACTION**We don't actually earn anything from this podcast, and it's quite a lot of work, so we have to promote the day jobs.Follow us on the Zero Ambitions LinkedIn page (we still don't have a proper website)Jeff and Dan about Zero Ambitions Partners (the consultancy) for help with positioning and communications strategy, customer/user research and engagement strategy, carbon calculations and EPDs – we're up to all sortsSubscribe and advertise with Passive House Plus (UK edition here too)Check Lloyd Alter's Substack: Carbon UpfrontJoin ACANJoin the AECB Join the IGBCCheck out Her Retrofit Space, the renovation and retrofit platform for women**END OF SELF-PROMOTING CALLS TO ACTION**
In this episode of The Stepmom Side Podcast, Alicia is joined by Monica Tanner to talk about how to reignite connection and intimacy in blended families, why stepfamily myths can damage marriages, and what couples can do to create a stronger, healthier relationship. They dive into one of the most controversial but important ideas in blended family life: why the couple relationship has to be the priority. Monica explains what that actually looks like in real life, how to support your partner without making it a competition with the kids, and why children benefit from seeing a healthy relationship modeled in the home. One of the most powerful parts of this episode is Monica's explanation of repair in relationships. She breaks down what repair means, how couples can come back together after conflict, and why healthy relationships are not conflict-free—they are built through harmony, disharmony, and repair. If you are a stepmom feeling disconnected in your marriage, exhausted by blended family stress, or unsure how to rebuild closeness with your partner, this episode will remind you that healthy relationships are built, not found. In this episode:How to rebuild connection and intimacy in blended familiesThe myth that kids should always come before the marriageWhat it means to make the relationship the priority without neglecting the childrenWhy stepfamily structure and united parenting matterConnect with Monica:www.monicatanner.comOn InstagramOn YouTubeSupport the showRegister here for StepmomCon Want a specific topic covered?
