In this episode of the Braun Performance & Rehab Podcast, Dan is joined by Pratik Soni to discuss theories, considerations, and applications of spinal manipulation interventions into sports clinical practice.Dr. Pratik Soni earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker University in 2019, where he trained in the Sports Performance Program and conducted assessments for high school athletes, minor league baseball teams, and professional athletes. He is trained in soft tissue therapy, functional assessments, and exercise-based rehabilitation. He also holds a B.S. in Anatomy, B.S in Health & Wellness from Parker University ,and a B.S. in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University, as well as an M.S. in Sports Science and Rehab. While being the owner of Back in Motion Chiropractic, Dr. Soni has also been on staff of the WNBA's Dallas Wings and the former PLL's Panther City Lacrosse League where he provides spinal manipulation, dry needling, shockwave therapy, rehabilitation, and soft tissue therapy. Currently, Dr. Soni is providing patient care at the Joint Chiropractic, as well as attending Physical Therapy School at South College Atlanta. This research encompasses exercise physiology, growth and reproduction, and digestive physiology including palatability, intake, and microbiome work. Mary Beth earned her BS in Animal Science from Delaware Valley University and PhD in Animal Science with a specialty in Equine Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Rutgers University. Her graduate research focused on the effects of exercise on the hormonal regulation of appetite in horses and her work was the first to characterize the appetite stimulating hormone, ghrelin, in equine. She is published in numerous scientific journals including The Veterinary Journal, Equine Veterinary Journal, Journal of Animal Science, Journal of Equine Veterinary Science and Equine Comparative Exercise Physiology. She has also co-authored chapters in textbooks such as Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery. As the Coordinator of Sports Performance of Salisbury University, Matt Nein looks to continue the progress of the Sports Performance Program with the concepts of reducing the student athletes risk of injury while enhancing player performance. Matt's responsibilities include the coordination of all 21 teams' training programs, speed and agility sessions, facility and equipment maintenance, and internship/volunteer supervision. Matt came to Salisbury University following a one year stint as a strength coach in the minor league system of the Toronto Blue Jays. He received his Masters Degree in Applied Health Physiology from Salisbury University in 2004 and his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Towson University in 2002. While at Towson University, Matt pitched for the Tigers Baseball Team for five seasons and served as a captain in his final year with the squad. Since 2004, Matt has been certified as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. During this time he has either assisted in or directed the training of each one of UB’s athletic teams at one time or another. Harvey holds a Master's Degree in Applied Physiology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. During his time in graduate school at UB he also served as a volunteer assistant in the sports performance department. Prior to his time at the University at Buffalo he spent time as a high school football coach, sports performance coach in the private sector and a Fitness Director for Xerox Recreation Association in Rochester, NY. Harvey’s undergraduate work was completed at SUNY Brockport in Exercise Physiology and Physical Education. At Brockport he was a four year letter winner in football and eventual Usafootball.com All-American selection. He completed his undergraduate work with an internship in the Buffalo Bills strength and conditioning department. He has been training himself for twenty years and uses this ‘under the bar’ experience to help his athletes reach their maximal potential. Recently, he earned his Elite Powerlifting status in August of 2009 in only his third competition entered.
