Broadcasts – Christian Working Woman

Presented by Lauren Stibgen Even though the phrase servant leadership isn't a biblical term, the Bible does tell us as leaders to serve! I am so thankful for God's Word and how it truly can inform how we work! Jesus tells us to serve in this passage. Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves (Luke 22:25-26). This verse follows a dispute among the disciples about who would be regarded as the greatest. Although we don't read as much detail about the last supper in Luke's account, we need to consider how Jesus modeled servant leadership to the disciples that night. Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him (John 13:3-5). Jesus knew he was all powerful. God had put all things under his power yet he took the posture of a lowly servant and washed his disciples' feet, going as far as to use the towel on his body to dry them. He did not exercise lordship over them and demand they wash his feet, rather as the leader, he was the one who served. Do you exercise lordship, or, as a leader, do you serve? Maybe you are not yet thinking of yourself as a leader. Let's remove the notions of worldly appointments and titles. Jesus was not considered a leader by the people of his time, at least not in the sense of the synagogue or even in politics. It was through his service of speaking the Word of God, healing the sick, and performing miracles that Jesus came to be seen as a leader. And for some, his leadership blessed them, and others, it threatened. He didn't demand lordship as the Son of God, demanding to be followed. He was followed because he served! If you find yourself in a position where you do hold a title, are you using this for the betterment of those who see you in this position? What do they see? Are you demanding respect or giving it? Are you watching your team struggle to complete work or are you seeking to help?

Things have been quiet, until her neighbor runs screaming to her apartment.  Hi Nay, translated to “Hi Mom”, is a Filipino led, analog-style, supernatural folklore horror anthology podcast with an overarching plot, where the protagonist treats  The Horrors™ with the casual lived experience of someone who was raised around them.  Filipina immigrant Mari Datuin, raised by a babaylan (shaman) mother, accidentally saves her neighbour from a rotting monster, and is now on a mission to stop dangerous supernatural events in Toronto — alongside two supernatural detectives Donner and Murphy, her 6'2 strong-armed lesbian neighbor Laura, and Ashvin, a celebrity conman guru with real magic powers. The series is framed through Mari's phone calls to her Nanay (mother) in the Philippines, as well as the Detectives' tape recordings. Season 1 follows their mission to stop the Elders, a group of rich immortal occultists from the 1900s, from terrorizing innocent people with cursed objects called Foci — especially their mysterious leader, The Benefactor, who is so powerful that nobody is able to remember his face or name. I'd say to them. Can you imagine me there in the front row in Saint Peter's Square? The lesbian sister of a literal saint.'Brought up in a devout household in Ireland, Jay is now living in London with her girlfriend, determined to live day to day and not think too much about either the future or the past. But when she learns that her beloved older brother, who died in a terrible accident, may be made into a Catholic saint, she realises she must at last confront her family, her childhood and herself . . .The Benefactors In The Benefactors we meet Frankie, Miriam and Bronagh - very different women but all mothers to 18-year-old boys. Glamorous Frankie, now married to a wealthy, older man, grew up in care. Miriam has recently lost her beloved husband Kahlil in ambiguous circumstances. Bronagh, the CEO of a children's services charity, loves the celebrity and prestige this brings her. They do not know each other yet, but when their sons are accused of sexually assaulting Misty Johnston, whose family lacks the wealth and social-standing of their own, they'll leverage all the power of their position to protect their children. From the prize-winning author of Dance Move and Sweet Home, this is an astounding novel about intimate histories, class and money - and what being a parent means. Brutal, tender and rigorously intelligent, The Benefactors is a daring, polyphonic presentation of modern-day Northern Ireland. It is also very funny. Hosted on Acast. Ruth: Meditations on God's KindnessHebrews 11:6Philanthropy in the US began in the colonial period with the Puritans. They believed in not just supporting the poor and needy but strove beyond that to help the colonies as a whole. Men such as Cotton Mather, Benjamin Franklin, and Paul Revere exemplified this model and had tremendous impact on the development of the country. When these men gave aid and helped ensure the hungry were fed, children were looked after, and education was accessible, no one turned away their gifts.According to Psalm 119:68, God is the greatest Benefactor, for all He does is good. Again, in Romans 8:28 it says that He causes everything to work for good for those who love Him. How often do you find yourself asking for and accepting His goodness? Do you feel too undeserving to accept His gifts? We wrap up our series Ruth: Meditations on God's Kindness tomorrow morning with one final look at God's hesed towards His children.

Jeffrey Epstein's Benefactor Les Wexner And His Reign At The Top In Ohio (Part 2)

The Epstein Chronicles

Despite his deep and long-standing ties to Jeffrey Epstein, billionaire Les Wexner remains an almost untouchable figure in Columbus, Ohio—revered as a philanthropic titan and regional kingmaker. Wexner, the founder of L Brands and the man behind Victoria's Secret, has wielded enormous influence over the city's economic and cultural landscape for decades. From hospitals to art centers to Ohio State University, his name is etched into nearly every major institution, with donations totaling hundreds of millions. This civic dominance has insulated him from the level of scrutiny other Epstein-linked figures have received. In Columbus, Wexner is not just a businessman—he's a legacy, a power broker whose wealth and prestige have bought loyalty, silence, or both. But beneath the surface, that reverence is increasingly uncomfortable. Epstein once held power of attorney over Wexner's finances, lived in a Wexner-owned mansion, and was given an unusual level of control over Wexner's personal and professional affairs—facts that have raised serious questions about just how much Wexner knew and when. Yet in Columbus, public officials and institutional leaders rarely speak of it. The media coverage is polite, the criticism muted, and the donor gratitude eternal. It's as if the city made a conscious choice to separate Wexner the benefactor from Wexner the enabler, ignoring the fact that his empowerment of Epstein may have been a central piece of the larger abuse machinery. In any other city, he might be scrutinized. In Columbus, he's still the king.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comhttps://www.columbusmonthly.com/story/lifestyle/features/2022/10/25/what-jeffrey-epstein-scandal-means-to-columbus-and-les-wexner/69589703007/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

Finding Jesus in Unexpected Places // At the Disciple's Feet Matthew 20:28 (NIV)“Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” John 13:1-17 (NIV)“It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, ‘Lord, are you going to wash my feet?' Jesus replied, ‘You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.' ‘No,' said Peter, ‘you shall never wash my feet.' Jesus answered, ‘Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.' ‘Then, Lord,' Simon Peter replied, ‘not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!' Jesus answered, ‘Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.' For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean. When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. ‘Do you understand what I have done for you?' he asked them. ‘You call me ‘Teacher' and ‘Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.'” Mark 9:34-35 (NIV)“But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” Mark 10:45 (NIV)“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”     Luke 22:21-27 (NIV)“But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table. The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!”  They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this. A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest. Jesus said to them, ‘The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.  For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.'” Mark 4:9 (NIV), Matt 11:15 (NIV)Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” Some Keys to Servanthood: 1.     Serving like Jesus means we move in humility, take action on behalf of others.Phil 2:8 (NIV)“And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death.” 2.     Serving like Jesus means we engage compassionately.Matthew 9:36 (NIV)“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” 3.     Serving like Jesus means we must serve graciously.Luke 6:35 (NIV)“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.”             Galatians 5:13 (NIV)“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” 4.     Serving like Jesus, we must take time for people.1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.” Let your doing be done for the sake of the doing, not to be seen!
