Jess and Paul are back from a long holiday break to dive into the world of Frank Herbert's Dune and it's many iterations. They talk about Jodorowsky's failed endeavor, David Lynch's 80's fueled cult classic, John Harrison's mostly forgotten 2000's Syfy Original series and the recent Dune movie by Denis Villeneuve. They cover the movies, what they loved and could leave in each, and talk about Jess's obsession with Toronto's favourite detective. Guys, look... this week's movie is a heaping pile of garbage, but like, a fun one that doesn't smell and you might be inclined to rifle through. This week we are discussing the Syfy Original, "Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs." The movie goes a little something like this, unnamed small town where May-December relationships abound and everyone's got a past. There's ranches, mountains, cowboys, explosions, dinosaurs take over, humans are toast, ancillary characters that are merely there to die, with snippets of bad CGI to bring it all together. This week the ladies misquote Sam Elliott (who is NOT in this film), talk making friends with McRib, we line up future picks for the sombrero, are horrified by the antics of Eric Roberts (who IS in this film), discuss t-shirt ideas, discover that projectile vomiting is not how to win over The Doctor, observe that dinosaurs like a good tasting menu, question if it's Quentin or Quade because the actors certainly don't know and Snowy gets real aggressive with her air quotes. All this and so much more on this week's Reel Fun Times!

This week, we're getting spooked & scared & sleepy (???), all courtesy of our pals from the Dom Deluise Patreon Club. We've let these fine folks choose three Schlocktober features for us to chat about, and we deliver on that promise!Up first! Y'all remember the La Casa series of horror films, right? Not so much an actual series of films but instead a marketing ploy that involved selling unrelated fright flicks to an unwitting Italian public, the series includes entries from the Evil Dead and House franchises at various points in time. Our feature this week, Witchery (aka La Casa 4: Witchcraft) from 1988, has no actual relation to those franchises, but does feature a scary house in Scituate, MA. It's also got Linda Blair, David Hasselhoff, and a witch! Next up! Way back in 1988, New World Pictures tried to sneak a hyper-violent zombie horror/comedy past our noses by burying it inside a buddy-cop film called Dead Heat, with Joe Piscopo and Treat "Gotta Eat" Williams in the lead roles. But will this odd concoction go down smoothly? The answer will surprise you. Finally! It's a third film: Leprechaun Returns, the SyFy Original sequel to the original Leprechaun which ignores all of the other sequels and starts a new fork in the canon. Nobody's expecting this to be good, right? Will we be surprised by the mischievous little gold-chaser? Donloyd now to find out. All this plus Kevin Moss Presents: a sticky selection of spooky seasonal sweets, Sean sees a spider, pouring one out for Robert Forster, finally consumers will have a way to access films and television produced by the Disney corporation, we tease a Maniac Cop Theme Show (the long clock starts now on our eventual fulfillment of this promise), Kevin professes his love for old-timey black & white horror movies, we play back the tape, Kevin professes his love for old-timey black & white kaiju movies, a shocking reveal of profound sleepiness, a shocking disagreement over the quality of a classic film, a shocking reversal of expectations from a SyFy Original, our weekly news plus Blu-ray Picks and even more! Direct Donloyd HereGot a movie suggestion for the show, or better yet an opinion on next week's movies? Drop us a line at JFDPodcast@gmail.com. Or leave us a voicemail: 347-746-JUNK (5865). 7-year-old Al and CadaverDad celebrate the holidays with the Syfy Original movie, SANTA SHARK (2018). Truly, it's the only film bold enough to ask: what would happen if a shark in a comic book ate evil old Santa Claus, gained his powers and stole his hat, and was then brought to life by an angsty youth with a magical, German pen? It's every bit as incredible as it sounds! Have you heard of the 2005 classic SyFy Original movie “Mansquito”? Well, you have now! You can see this movie for free on YouTube. You’re welcome.
This awful movie about moderately giant ants looks at a SyFy Original and wishes it could be that funny... and it's not like SyFy Originals set a very high bar.

I woke up screaming in the dark. I woke up alone. I didn’t know who I was, where I was, or how I got there. But I learned. I fought. I survived. I still don’t know who I was, but now I know who I am. And I’m not alone anymore. Friends, fans, Junkies, lend me your ears. Okay, fine, your eyes, because this is a letter — stop being a smart-ass already, will ya? I want to tell you something about my next novel, ALIVE, due out Summer of 2015. It’s different. And not different like that one uncle who comes over for Thanksgiving and smells of patchouli oil, I mean different from anything of mine you’ve ever read. I want to prepare your faces. This letter is all of nine paragraphs long, so read it for me. Because you’re swell like that. ALIVE is the story of a twelve-year-old girl who wakes up to a nightmare. To say her upbringing was “conservative” is an understatement. I can’t explain why, I can’t reveal what that means, but I can say that telling a story from a child’s perspective is something you haven’t seen from me before, not in novel-length. So, yeah — different. Is this “YA,” what the fancy-pants big-wigs in those tall New York City publishers offices call “young adult?” The narrator is twelve years old, man. So … maybe? You’ll experience the story through her young mind, her limited life experiences and her pre-adolescent frame of reference. Different, but also, not as different as you might expect. It’s still written by me, and the rotten apple only falls so far from the haunted tree. Our girl is thrown into a boiling vat of awful and has to fight her way out. There is pain, there is terror, there is loss, and — this is a Sigler story, after all — there is blood. And now, a sooper-secret secret: At New York Comic Con, Oct 10-13 in the Big Apple, something is afoot. If you attend, and you go to the Del Rey booth, they have a little trinket to promote ALIVE. Go there, get the staff’s attention and then scream the following line in your best overly dramatic, over-the-top, SyFy Original, Shatneresque delivery. “The spear! The spear!” Do that. Get something. Squeal with delight.
