Written and directed by Taran Killam, Killing Gunther is a mockumentary centering on a group of incompetent assassins who assemble to take down the world's best hitman. It is a wonderfully comedic and weird film that was unfortunately slept on by both critics and viewers. Grossing less than $200,000, Killing Gunther never found much of an audience. But it should have. Its cast of eclectic characters do more than enough to buoy the conceit across its modest 92-minute runtime. Throw in a delightfully off-the-wall turn from Arnold Schwarzenegger (he sings a country song!) as the titular Gunther and you've got yourself a damn good time. Now, sit back, sing some karaoke with a Sublimely Self-Righteous Black IPA from Stone Brewing, and hope Ashley gets well soon! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Bling Blake, and Capt. Cash are retiring to Austria to coach field hockey and open a vegetable garden! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – They're out to change the killing business! (00:00) Lingering Questions – Who would we recruit for our elite assassin team to kill Gunther? Hollywood Homicide is a delightful mismatched buddy cop comedy. Unfortunately, everyone hated it, including its star—Harrison Ford. Written and directed by Ron Shelton, of Bull Durham and Tin Cup fame, Hollywood Homicide channels the real life exploits of one-time Los Angeles policeman Robert Souza. Judging by some of the movie's subplots, reality is indeed stranger than fiction. Speaking of those weaving narrative points, the abundance of them plague the film. There is just too much going on. That is probably why critics and audiences had such distaste for it. At 30% on Rotten Tomatoes—with an even lower audience score—Hollywood Homicide is one of Ford's worst rated films. It is also one of his lowest grossing. On a budget of $75 million, it failed to break even $52 million. Book it as a flop, Danno! Now, sit back, get fancy with a Stella Artois, and practice your big monologue! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Bling Blake, and Capt. Cash are doing our damndest to sell this monstrosity on Mount Olympus! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – In Hollywood, no one is who they really want to be! Taran Killam (SNL, Killing Gunther) joins us this week to share his opinion on attention and rejection as an actor with a unique perspective of having been cast in two iconic sketch shows: Mad TV and SNL. Love the honesty in this episode… Taran shares some pretty uncomfortable moments with heroes like Jack Black and Dave Grohl, while also being open about how he rekindled his relationship with his now wife, Cobie Smulders. We also talk about his audition for Pete in Smallville, who made him crack the most on both Mad TV and SNL, and what it was like to work with Arnold Schwarzenegger on his self directed film. Die einzige Möglichkeit, den sagenumwobenen Hitman Gunther von seinem Thron zu stürzen, ist ihn umzubringen. As with most other episodes of the podcast, Arnold Schwarzenegger makes an appearance in the film we're discussing, and is arguably the best part. Our fight to the death this week finally enters the MCU™, as The Hulk™ takes on a brain surgeon, an ice skater and a dancing clown who may or may not be named Chubbs™.

The hilarious Taran Killam lets us peek under the hood of his comedic craft in this half hour. He stars in the new ABC series “Single Parents” (premiering September 26th) and the comedy “Night School” (opening September 28th) opposite Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish. He’s probably best known for his 6 years on Saturday Night Live. We talk about how that “bootcamp” prepared him for almost anything. But his talent goes beyond comedy. He writes, directs (check out his film “Killing Gunther” on demand), and sings (he was King George III in “Hamilton”). Plus he finally answers a question I have been trying to ask comedic actors since this show began.

ARNIEGEDDON: A SCHWARZENEGGER FILM PODCAST

Mug for the camera and embrace the post-modern because this week hosts Cam Smith and Tony G are conjuring up their frustrated inner-country stars while partying with the 2017 indie comedy Killing Gunther. Starring our beloved muscle-bound icon as a legendary killer-for-hire being pursued by a colorful batch of wacky assassins, the film sees Schwarzenegger goofily sending up his big screen persona while also striving to further refine his comedic chops. But is he successful, and does the picture deserve his fearless commitment? Jump into the kooky chaos with the duo as they ask such fundamental questions as "why is this a mockumentary?," "should Arnie stop milking his famous catchphrases?" and so very much more. ARNIEGEDDON: A SCHWARZENEGGER FILM PODCAST

Pull on your yellow spandex and join the resistance because this week hosts Cam Smith and Tony G loudly declare who they love by taking on Arnie's other 1987 effort, The Running Man. A notoriously turbulent production, the film has nonetheless endured thanks in no small part to its unforgettably weird rogues gallery, abundant catch-phrases and often eerily accurate forecasting of our current media landscape. Yet, beyond its colorful camp and unrestrained machismo, is the film actually that good? And how does it compare to the big guy's more critically championed 80s fare like Terminator or Predator? Don't be a plain zero, join the trio as they run through this deadly gauntlet of insanity, chaos and miscast rock stars! DOWNLOAD HERE We're also on iTunes, Google Play & Stitcher Radio! Hosts: The Gillinator, Brandon Krum Guess what? A new Arnold movie is upon us, and it's a fun one! We spend the entire episode talking about the action/mockumentary "Killing Gunther" which Taran Killam wrote and directed (as well as stars in). You can watch it streaming right now, and it will be in limited theaters October 20th. We first do a brief spoiler-free review if you haven't seen it yet, then we go in-depth through the whole film- what worked really well, and what didn't as much. Hint: whenever Arnold is on screen, it's REALLY good!  Like ARN? Help us get bigger and ballsier by rating and reviewing us in iTunes, and sharing us with other Arnold fans! Hosts: The Gillinator, Brandon Krum Judgment Day has come back again in many ways! It brought a hurricane that was right on Branon's doorstep, but fortunately not before we could all go see the REAL Judgment Day, T2, in theaters and in 3D to boot! We talk about how the 3D enhanced certain scenes and other slight tweaks, even though hardly any are needed for this perfect movie! We also mention James Cameron's recent chat where he answered Gillinator's question about human Arnold in the next Terminator! Then we get pumped for Killing Gunther which was not out yet when this was recorded, but look for a review in the next episode! But as one T2 comes back, another is going away forever: T2:3D at Universal Studios. Go see it again before Oct. 8! We also mourn the early passing of Sonny Landham, "Billy" from Predator. Like ARN? That may seem like enough, because it is, but also Star Wars Battlefront 2, Witnesses, strikes, boxes, graphs, and golf!
