James Nazarian Jr. is the Large Project Leader Commercial Motorsports for Honda Racing Corporation located in Santa Clarita, California. At last year's 2023 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, he gave us a walkaround on “the Beast” Honda CR-V race car. This year, he did the same for their all-new Acura Integra Type S DE5 race car designed to be raced in the SRO TC America Championship in the TCX class. This event was only a few days after the Integra made its racing debut at Sonoma Raceway where it earned a couple of podium finishes! Good afternoon, I'm _____ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened up 130-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 23,009 on turnover of 4.4-billion N-T. The market lost almost 180-points as investors rushed to lock-in gains in the bellwether electronics sector. Hon Hai led the downturn in the electronics sector, falling by 2.85-per cent, as its share price failed to return to its prior ex-dividend level. While Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing also moved lower, as it saw profit taking following recent solid gains on the back of investor interest in artificial intelligence development-related stocks. Domestic Carbon Credit Sales to Begin on TCX in September or October The Ministry of Environment says it expects sales of domestic carbon credits on the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange to begin by late September or early October. The statement comes after the exchange listed its first green carbon project earlier this week. That project was a reforestation initiative in eastern Paraguay and carbon credits for the project are now available for purchase. The government has also now publicly released the regulations on the trade and transfer of domestic carbon credits from voluntary (自主性) emission reduction projects - which are set to be introduced on August 15. Weekly New COVID-19 Cases Hit Year's Highest Level The Centers for Disease says a total of 932 new COVID-19 cases with complications (併發症) were reported last week - and that's the highest weekly level for this year. According to the C-D-C, the number of confirmed local cases reported between June 25 and July 1 was up 14-per cent from the previous week. Data shows there were approximately 100,000 COVID-19-related visits to emergency and outpatient departments made last week. The C-D-C says the pandemic will continue to rise and weekly visits to emergency rooms for COVID-19-related illnesses are expected peak in mid-July at 120,000 before subsequently declining slowly. Okinawa Protests Cases of Alleged Sexual Assault by US Personnel Locals in Japan's Okinawa region are protesting two cases of alleged sexual assault (性侵害) by US military personnel. The Pentagon says it's closely tracking the cases which have fueled local anger. Chris Gilbert reports from Tokyo. Chile White Rhino Birth at Zoo A 13-year-old Southern white rhinoceros has delivered a newborn calf in a rare zoo birth for the almost endangered species. The arrival of the male calf, named Silverio, just over a week ago was the third time that a white rhino had ever been born in South America. The zoo in Chile's capital of Santiago presented Silverio to the public on Tuesday as he took his first steps after 12 days of medical care in confinement (限、禁閉). The zoo hailed his birth as a “big achievement” for efforts to conserve the threatened species. Southern white rhinos, have been classified as “nearly endangered”, and there are just over 10-thousand individuals left in the world, the vast majority of them in zoos. TCX's Ruurd Brouwer, CEO, and Harald Hirschhofer, Senior Advisor, join the show to discuss the mission of the TCX fund, the "original sin" of borrowing in a foreign currency, and their proposed package of reforms to create currency risk markets. 

Si échanger ses euros contre une monnaie locale africaine est compliqué et coûteux à notre petite échelle, qu'en est-il à l'échelle des marchés des changes ? On this episode, hosts Peter Ravella and Tyler Buckingham talk with Jim Blackburn, founder and leader of the Texas Coastal Exchange (TCX) and BCarbon, two organizations to protect coastal wetlands and other natural areas to generate and certify carbon offset credits. In April, TCX announced a plan to construct 1,000-miles of living shoreline projects on the Texas coast funded ultimately through the sale of carbon offset credits. According to TXC, a nine-mile living shoreline project might cost $4.5 million to construct. However, by protecting coastal wetlands which sequester carbon, that project could generate $19 million from the sale of carbon credits. BCarbon -- an organization that certifies empirically measured increases in natural carbon stocks for carbon credit trading -- estimates that credits would be valued at $20 per ton. Could coastal wetlands protection projects and other coastal and ocean green infrastructure projects really be self-funding through the sale of carbon offset credits? Blackburn thinks so and he makes a compelling case. A great interview with one of the most innovative thinkers on the American shoreline. Jim Blackburn is a professor in the practice of environmental law in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Rice University, teaching courses in sustainable development and environmental law. He is an environmental planner and practiced environmental law with the Blackburn & Carter law firm in Houston. At Rice, he serves as the co-director of the Severe Storm Prediction, Education and Evacuation from Disaster (SSPEED) Center, a faculty scholar at the Baker Institute, and director of the undergraduate minor in energy and water sustainability. At the SSPEED Center, Mr. Blackburn has been responsible for the development of landscape-scale green-space solutions for surge damage mitigation, including the Lone Star Coastal National Recreation Area, a web-based ecological services exchange and structural alternatives. He is the author of The Book of Texas Bays (Texas A&M University Press, 2004), which focuses on the environmental health of bays in Texas and efforts undertaken to protect them.

Fitness Tracking Andreas hat sich diesmal die Cardio Seite des Fitness Trackings angeschaut. Es gibt viele Plattformen, Apps und Gadgets die mit euch, eure sportlichen Aktivitäten erfassen. Sehr viele der Apps wiederum zeigen euch Werbung solange man sich nicht für den Kauf eines Premium (Abo) Accounts entscheidet. Wer einfach nur Sport machen will, schaut in die Röhre, oder doch nicht? Grund dieser erneuten Runde des Fitness Trackings ist eine gewisse Frustration Andreas’ mit seiner aktuellen App der Wahl – RunKeeper. Diese wurden Anfang des Jahres von Asics aufgekauft. Ihm mishagte, dass seit Einführung der Premium Accounts diese App immer Werbung anzeigte und mehrmaliges Fragen und Bitte um die Möglichkeit der Entfernung derselben, nach 5 Jahren, nicht nachgekommen wurde. Natürlich gibt es viele Fitness Plattformen auf denen wir unsere sportlichen Aktivitäten erfassen können, und es gibt auch sehr viele Fitness Tracking Gadgets, diese kommen aber angesichts einer Meldung aus den USA für Andreas gerade nicht in Frage. Dort gibt es eine Schule auf der Schüler Fitness Tracker tragen müssen. Heilix Blechle sagt Andreas. RunGap war die App mit der Andreas seine Aktivitäten aus Nike+ und RunKeeper nach Dropbox als GPX bzw. TCX exportieren konnte.
