Unbeknownst to them, they spent their childhood exposed to toxic "forever chemicals" that leached into the soil and water, poisoning countless community members in the process. Rising middle-distance sensation and newly-crowned NCAA Indoor Champion Makayla Paige joins the show today to discuss her incredible journey, the 2025 season, and what's next on her horizon. The senior University of North Carolina star won the 800m Indoor NCAA title in Virginia with a time of 2:00.39 in March, her new PR in the distance. It's been a memorable start to the New Year for Makayla, as she shattered UNC's women's 800m record by three seconds with a 2:00.57 at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic in January. Makayla has displayed uncanny range since her high school days, competing in events from the 200m all the way up to the 1,000m. This breadth and strength has helped propel her to the stage she's on now.The Tewksbury, Massachusetts native was named 2019 high school Gatorade Player of the Year for Girls Track & Field in Massachusetts. While focusing on sprints, middle distance and hurdles during her high school days, she ran PRs of 26.21 in the 200m, 56.01 in the 400m, 1:29.71 in the 600m and 2:06.27 in the 800m. Makayla, who signed an NIL deal with On in the fall of 2024, has additional collegiate PRs of 52.70 in the 400m, 2:47.35 in the 1,000m and 4:38.51 in the mile. In today's conversation, Makalya walks me through winning her first NCAA title, what it means to her, her ambitions for the future and the UNC program, why keeping the sport light and fun is so important and how she does that, and so much more! This conversation was thoroughly enjoyable, and I hope you appreciate it as much as I did having it. Gia-Raquel Rose, owner of Airs Above Yoga, LLC and a real estate sales associate in Tewksbury, New Jersey has had a love for horses stemming from early childhood. Growing up in “horse country” afforded her the privilege of beginning to ride from the tender age of four. It was a childhood illness, which brought her riding aspirations to an abrupt halt. It took twenty years before she was able to reunite with her long lost passion for horses and their ability to heal. In that time, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communication from Arcadia University and became a twice two hundred hour certified yoga instructor in both Hatha and Vinyasa. It was the loss of her mother, Rose, to breast cancer, which ultimately shifted her trajectory from the corporate world to the internal work for which yoga, as a practice, is renowned.

Send us a Text Message.Crown Creek Cattle was established in 2022 but it wasn't until they bought their first quality longhorns at the Eddie Wood Classic in January 2023 that they got serious about the breed. Lacy just wanted a "few Longhorns to look at", but it was all over once Ryan went to that first auction. In 2023, they acquired over 100 addition Longhorns! Ryan and Lacy share their preference for Longhorn bulls, their love of car racing and hunting. www.hiredhandsoftware.comwww.crowncreekcattle.comwww.hubbelllonghorns.netwww.buxtonlonghorns.comwww.ejsranch.com

Tom Horn first arrived in Wyoming in 1892. He had spent most of a decade chasing Apache down in Arizona before diving headfirst into a feud known as the Pleasant Valley War. Although Tom's actions during the feud remain unclear, he most likely fought on the side of the Tewksbury's against their avowed enemies, the Grahams. And despite wearing the badge of a Gila County Sheriff's deputy, Horn would participate in the lynching of at least three men. This was followed by a stint with the Pinkertons, a job that saw Tom working on the behest of the cattle barons up in Johnson County, Wyoming. Once again, Horn's involvement is somewhat shrouded in mystery, but he is suspected of assassinating at least two men on behalf of the large ranchers. Whether or not that's true is unknown, but Tom did help to put an end to the notorious Red Sash Gang. Next, Horn would drift south and find employment as a Range Detective at John Coble's Iron Mountain Ranch, doing pretty much the same work he had done in Johnson County: investigating stock theft and working as an enforcer for large spreads. The only difference was that Horn had lost all faith in the judicial system by this point. Rather than waste time arresting criminals only for the courts to set them free, Tom resolved to handle business his way, and it just so happened that his way entailed a whole helluva lot of killing. Also discussed: The Apache Kid, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, the Spanish American War, Matt Rash, Isom Dart, and Black Jack Ketchum. I occasionally get music submitted for consideration to be used in mixes. I don't seek out submissions but if artists or labels are so kind as to send me some music I will take a listen. Last month I got a totally blind email with a link to a new album from Tewksbury. I fell in love with the album instantly. Well, not instantly as the full album is over 3 hours long. Check it out here... https://tewksbury.bandcamp.com/album/floes-volumes-i-iv Each track is over ten minutes long and they evolve slowly, beautifully as the tape loops, melodies and textures stretch time and space. I liked the album so much that I asked the artist, Douglas Tewksbury, to create a mix and, luckily for all of us, he agreed. Here's what Douglas has to say about SLOW/FORM: "This mix is a collective of slow, organically unfolding music, songs that reminded me of the importance of reflection, of stillness, of contemplation, of change. A few tracks are from my most recent 4x album 'Floes: Volumes I-IV', and the rest are artists who create slowly evolving works with human voices, with synthesizers, and with pianos, culminating with a stunning 19-minute piano work by the incredible Ukrainian pianist, Lubomyr Melnyk. Music can be such a powerful force to reflect on ourselves and the world around us, and here, I wanted to present a moment of consideration and contemplation on what it means to be a listener, investing the time to take the journey in longer works, to invest oneself in the commitment of deep listening." Thanks to Douglas for creating the mix and for such an excellent album. Cheers!
