Jim and Joy read comments and take viewer calls about the current status of the pro-life movement in post Roe v Wade America.
In this episode of "Sara Gonzales Unfiltered," Sara delivers a sharp critique of Kamala Harris following her recent CNN prerecorded interview alongside Tim Walz. The episode opens with a deep dive into Harris' competence and leadership, questioning her ability to articulate clear policy positions. Sara highlights how the CNN interview exposed Harris' ongoing struggles with flip-flopping on critical issues such as fracking, the economy, and immigration, showcasing her unchanged values that continue to raise doubts about her suitability for the highest office in the land. The conversation also touches on the border crisis, where Harris deflected responsibility and attempted to blame Donald Trump. Sara explores the broader political themes at play, including the controversy surrounding Trump's recent comments on Florida's six-week abortion ban and its implications for the pro-life movement. Dan Steiner, president of PreBorn!, joins the discussion to shed light on the challenges of saving lives in a post-Roe v. Wade America, emphasizing the importance of continued support for the pro-life cause. Sara also examines the ongoing issues within Harris' campaign, where her condescending behavior toward high school students and others only deepened concerns about her leadership. This behavior, coupled with her inability to connect with younger generations, further alienates key voter groups like Gen Z. The episode concludes with a reflection on the stark contrast between Harris' leadership style and the decisive actions required from someone in her position. A recent article in The Atlantic by Helen Lewis made the bold claim that “The Gender War Is Over in Britain.” An overstatement, to be sure, but not entirely unwarranted. Keir Starmer, head of the Labour Party, recently led his party away from full support of radical gender ideology. This was a notable shift for the United Kingdom's largest left-wing party, which had previously encouraged radical elements of trans activism and stood aside as feminists were canceled for resisting the new orthodoxy. The shift, which was quietly announced to the public, made “three big declarations.” One was that “sex and gender are different.” Another was that, although Labour continues to believe in the right to change one's legal gender, safeguards are needed to “protect women and girls from predators who might abuse the system.” Finally, Labour was therefore dropping its commitment to self-ID—the idea that a simple online declaration is enough to change someone's legal gender for all purposes—and would retain the current requirement of a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria. The author of the Atlantic piece equated Starmer's muted approach to “a man who had chucked a hand grenade over his shoulder and walked away, whistling,” though it likely had more to do with strategy than anything else. Although it may be the cause du jour of ivory tower activists, the past few years of policies and platforms at odds with common sense and basic biology have left affirming politicians high and dry when it comes to public support. Some have already paid the price by losing their respective offices. Recently, the head of the Scottish Nationalist Party was toppled, in part, for her attempted defense of placing so-called transgender men in women's prisons. And it's not just politicians who are getting the boot. Last year, the Tavistock Clinic near London shut down operations on account of lawsuits against its “gender-affirming” practices. In fact, the greater trend across Europe seems to be a growing skepticism, which stands in stark contrast to the mood in North America. At the same time, the protest in the U.S. seems to be growing. More stage time and prominence are being given to “de-transitioners” like Chloe Cole, who, as young people, bought the lies and did irreparable damage to their bodies through amputation and chemicals. More female athletes are following the lead of Riley Gaines and the Connecticut high school sprinters, standing up to intimidation and threats and insisting on the “crazy” idea that only women should be in women's sports. As more people refuse to be muzzled by societal pressure, others will speak out, too. Only in this way will what is true about reality reassert itself. All these things should give us hope that societal decline is not inevitable. But we must also remember that social media isn't real. Most of the controversies that monopolize the time and attention of pundits around the world are just “sound and fury, signifying nothing.” Most people around the country and the world are more firmly rooted in reality than the folks writing headlines, pushing progressive policies, and posting TikTok videos. One complicating factor here is that American politics is uniquely polarized. For example, in post Roe v. Wade America, the American left has elevated abortion to the point that no compromise is tolerated. So, even though many European nations have far stricter laws regarding abortion than even conservative American states, it will take significant effort to further move the needle here in the U.S. The same reality is at play in our efforts to protect children who are already born. What can and should continue to encourage us is that reality will always strike back. Dangerous ideas, even when mandated by cultural gatekeepers, cannot change reality. When Christians and other likeminded people stand up against dangerous ideas, we're not pleading for our own narrow, partisan claims. We're standing for the reality of the world as it truly is. We're standing for science and fact, for basic biology and common sense. No matter the folly of human pretensions against reality, this is still our Father's world. Its boundaries can only be pushed so far. This Breakpoint was co-authored by Dr. Timothy Padgett. For more resources to live like a Christian in this cultural moment, go to breakpoint.org.
The fight to protect life is, in some ways, even more challenging today than it was a year ago, Brian Westbrook says. The Supreme Court's June 2022 ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade, was a major victory for life, according to Westbrook, founder and executive director of the national sidewalk counseling organization Coalition Life. But, he adds, "there's a lot of work that needs to be done.” “Our opponents are not going away, and we need to be vigilant in fighting back and ensuring that we can protect mothers and protect children,” Westbrook says.In the state of Illinois, for example, there's a bill being pushed by pro-abortion advocates that could “shut down the 90 different [varieties] of pregnancy centers and maternity homes in Illinois,” he says. In an effort to encourage and mobilize the pro-life movement, Coalition Life is inviting Americans to St. Louis on April 29 for a march to support women and be a voice for the unborn. Westbrook joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss the opposition the pro-life movement is currently facing and why sidewalk counseling remains such a powerful tool in serving women facing a crisis pregnancy. This is the first March for Life held in a post-Roe v Wade America. Catholic pro-life leaders agree that this year's demonstration is more important than ever, to provide a prayerful witness to the sanctity of life in the face of a push for abortion legalization at the federal level and in many states. Stay tuned to Catholic News Agency dot com for the latest updates today from the March for Life. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/253393/live-updates-the-march-for-life-2023 Like the two years' prior, Pope Francis and the Roman Curia will again do the Vatican's annual Lenten retreat on an individual basis. The Vatican said Friday that Pope Francis had invited cardinals living in Rome and the heads of dicasteries to participate in the spiritual exercises “in a personal way” during the first full week of Lent, February 26 to March 3. During that week, all of Pope Francis' appointments will be canceled, including the Wednesday general audience of March 1, the Vatican announced. The pope asked the superiors of the Roman Curia to suspend their work activities and to use the five days for prayer. This is the third year the Lenten spiritual exercises, formerly organized as a group retreat, will take place in a private manner. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/253405/pope-francis-to-do-private-lenten-retreat-in-2023 The bishops of the Church of England plan to maintain a prohibition on same-sex marriage but intend to add certain prayers that would allow same-sex couples to have a ceremony to recognize stages within a same-sex relationship. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/253401/church-of-england-won-t-recognize-gay-marriage-but-will-allow-certain-ceremonies The Supreme Court announced Thursday that it has failed to find the person responsible for the leaked draft opinion overturning Roe v Wade. A joint statement released by the Supreme Court and marshal of the court today said the investigation has not been able to positively identify the culprit, despite concluding that it is “unlikely” the court was hacked and narrowing the search to less than 100 employees. An unprecedented Supreme Court leak to Politico in May 2022 exposed an unpublished draft opinion in which five justices voted to overturn Roe v Wade, ending the constitutional right to abortion. Immediate backlash ensued after news of the leak broke in which Supreme Court Justices' lives were threatened and protests were held for days outside their homes. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/253400/breaking-supreme-court-failed-to-find-source-of-leaked-opinion-overturning-roe-v-wade Today, the Church celebrates Saint Sebastian, the son of a wealthy Roman family. He was educated in Milan and became an officer of the imperial Roman army, and Captain of the Guard. He was a favorite of Emperor Diocletian. During Diocletian's persecution of the Christians, Sebastian visited them in prison, bringing both supplies and comfort. He is reported to have healed the wife of a fellow soldier by making the sign of the cross over her. During his time in the army he converted many soldiers and a governor. Charged as a Christian in 288 in Rome, Sebastian was tied to a tree, shot with arrows, and left for dead. However, he survived, recovered, and returned to preach to Diocletian, where the emperor then had him beaten to death. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/saint/st-sebastian-122

Margaret Atwood, the renowned writer of dystopian fiction including “The Handmaid's Tale,” joins Margaret Hoover to discuss the prospect of a post-Roe v. Wade America as the country is facing this very likelihood. This updated and refreshed episode features an interview conducted just weeks before the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion that would reverse the landmark 1973 decision that established a federal right to abortion in America. Atwood has long predicted that Roe would eventually be overturned. She tells Hoover the crux of the issue is whether the state owns women's bodies. “If they're going to claim women's bodies and put in enforced childbearing, they should pay for that. If they make you have a baby, they should pay for your food, your lodging, your clothing, your medical care, and your training,” Atwood says. Atwood reflects on the renewed interest in “The Handmaid's Tale,” her 1985 novel about a post-American dystopia where fertile women are forced to procreate. In recent years, the book has inspired a global wave of feminist protests and has been adapted as an Emmy-winning Hulu series. Atwood, a consultant on the series, offers behind-the-scenes insight as shooting is underway for a new season. Atwood also addresses other topics covered in her recent nonfiction collection, “Burning Questions,” including climate change and emerging threats to democracy like Russia's war in Ukraine. What will post Roe -v- Wade America look like?
How the "great replacement" conspiracy theory went mainstream; Downton Abbey is back in theatres; as the water in Lake Mead drops to record lows, bodies of the victims of mob hits may be being exposed; in a post Roe v. Wade America, the data on women's phones could offer a trove of incriminating evidence; a distant relative of legendary Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev reconciles the many layers of his past and more.
What does a post Roe vs Wade America look like and are you comfortable with JD Vance voting on the next Supreme Court justice?

On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Texas law banning abortion, effectively legalising the procedure nationwide. The court held that a woman's right to an abortion was implicit in the right to privacy protected by the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.Roe v. Wade, involved the case of Norma McCorvey “Jane Roe”, who in 1969, wanted an abortion but lived in Texas, where abortion was illegal except when necessary to save the mother's life. Her attorneys, Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee, filed a lawsuit on her behalf in U.S. federal court against her local district attorney, Henry Wade, alleging that Texas's abortion laws were unconstitutional.Linda Greenhouse has reported on and written about the Supreme Court for The New York Times for more than four decades, earning numerous accolades, including a Pulitzer Prize. As the Supreme Court hears a major abortion case, Politico looks at how activists on both sides of the issue are already planning for a world where Roe v. Wade is overturned. New York City has introduced America’s first government-run drug-injection sites, in a new effort to reduce opioid-overdose deaths. NPR has the story. The Guardian reports on American librarians who say there’s a major rise in organized efforts to ban books in schools. The New Yorker explains why the battle over what kids read in class may not end anytime soon. Hiring a Santa Claus is a tough task this year, after COVID hit the Santa community hard. The Washington Post uncovers the lengths people are going to in order to find one.
It's that glorious time of the year when all four major sports leagues are playing. With the NFL just 30% of the way into its' season, both the NBA and NHL just getting started, and Major League Baseball about to crown a champion, it seems an appropriate time to point out that your team sucks. Not your sports team, your other team, if you have one, and it's getting harder and harder to find people that don't.As I was discussing last week, I love sports but hate most sports fans. The idea that people literally equate their identity to the success and failure of a group of humans they've never met and wouldn't know you from Adam is so infantile and brazenly pathetic it should be studied much deeper at institutions across the country. Sports should merely be seen as a form of entertainment similar to movies and shows. Sure, if they suck, we walk away annoyed or disappointed, but sane people let it go quickly. Letting the outcome of a game determine your mood for the next many days, if not weeks, is clearly demented, not to mention the behavior of a child. There is supposed to come a time in your human development when you learn that pouting is neither an option nor a solution. This brings us to your other team and the even bigger problem. That team's season never ends, which is why people never have a chance to just step away from blindly supporting whatever their team is up to. This team, also, is a group of humans that you've never met and wouldn't know you. Worse, they don't even care about you. At least most professional athletes appreciate the fans en masse. They understand that you're rooting for them, buying merchandise with their names on it, and in many cases, feeding them energy with loud, in-person support. Your other team literally doesn't care that you even exist other than to use you. Your wants, needs, and desires are of absolutely no concern to them at all whatsoever. This team even goes so far as to make you promises that they have no intention of keeping. They lie to you constantly, hide everything they can from you, and steal from you. Yes, they steal from you, and yet, you continue to not only support them, but you also loudly scream on their behalf, sometimes violently, and depending on just how invested you are, you even give them your money (the money they haven't already stolen from you).I'm talking, of course, about your political team. It sucks. Whether it's team R or team D, your team is all of the things I just described. Oh, and a quick aside; those of you who try to be cute and separate yourself from political parties by saying instead that you're either conservative or progressive, you too, are all of the things described and one other big one which says more about you than it does about them; you're all enormous hypocrites. This is a problem because too many people (more today than ever before in my lifetime) scream that their team is the solution, and the opposing team is the problem. And yet, both of these political movements abandon what are supposed to be their core principles at the drop of a hat as long as the outcome suits them. That is what we call being unethical, and yet people look the other way when their team does it, which they do constantly, and that, in turn, makes them unethical as well. And they don't seem to care, as long as their side wins. Now we've gone from unethical to unscrupulous. Sociopathic and psychotic are the only two steps left on the ladder down to complete and total cretin. For example, last week a 16-year-old girl knowingly violated the rules of her high school, repeatedly and intentionally. This form of blatant flouting of the rules, and questioning of authority is the type of behavior consistently condemned by team R. After all, they're the law-and-order party. And yet, this girl became the conservative hero of the week. You see, just like with Kyle Rittenhouse, law and order only apply now to team R, when it's being used to uphold something that they agree with. So, Grace Smith was hailed as brave and strong for intentionally getting suspended for not wearing a mask to school. Since team R is against mask mandates, the ends justify the means, which is the thought process of a true intellectual coward. As an aside, it was also misreported endlessly that she was arrested for not wearing a mask. She was arrested, but for trespassing, after she was told to leave school grounds after being suspended and refusing to do so. But the truth isn't important when we're trying to win. https://www.foxnews.com/us/wyoming-girl-suspended-arrested-trespassing-mask-mandatehttps://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/07/05/kyle-rittenhouse-american-vigilante Speaking of such policies, team D has, for decades, preached the slogan “my body, my choice.” It applies most notably to their support of legalized abortion, but also to the issue of consent, gender identification, and something called “body integrity.” But as far as team D is concerned, it is no longer your body, your choice when it comes to wearing masks or injecting medicine into you. Leaping back to team R for a moment, the team that preaches law and order, much more extreme examples of their hypocrisy than the hero anti-mask girl would be the insurrectionists of January 6th and all of the various right-wing nationalists constantly threatening or engaging in activities that have to be stopped by who else but law enforcement? It's the same thing with the 2nd amendment and/or we're-going-to-civil war Nazis who without thinking, talk about getting in gun battles with cops that come to their doors…not very law and order friendly.Progressives/liberals/Democrats continue, to this day, to preach that Covid isn't gone, wear your mask, kids in schools all wear masks, get tested, isolate, be safe…and yet 2 million illegal migrants have streamed into this country since President grandpa took office, and less than 10% of them were even tested for Covid, let alone only 33% of them accepting vaccination. https://www.foxnews.com/category/us/immigrationBack to my conservative friends on team R, the party of small/less government and letting local people, like your elected school board, make local decisions…unless, of course, you don't like the decisions they're making and then you pass laws and executive orders in your state banning local leaders from instituting things like mask mandates. They're also the party of small businesses and the freedom of business owners to make their own decisions. They championed the Colorado baker who didn't want to make a cake for a gay couple because it's his right, not just religiously, but as the owner of the business! But if you own a business in many conservative states and want to require your employees or customers to be vaccinated, suddenly that's not your right any longer.Team D is the party of woke-ism. They stand up for any and every minority there is unless they find out someone in that minority is on team R, and then that particular minority person is no longer a protected class, they're a traitor for having their own individual thoughts. The examples are endless, which is why it's all so disconcerting to say the least. We have lost more than just our moral compass, we've lost more than just our souls, we've lost ourselves, entirely. Rather than using fundamental, core principles to guide and help us decide, we merely identify the outcome we want and then say that any means necessary will do. Worse, in many cases, many people don't even bother to think about the outcome, they just ask “what does my team want, I'm in favor of that!”All of this amidst the backdrop of being a sports fan. When some rabid fan is all jazzed the day after his team wins, to the point where he won't shut up about it (and I'm talking about “that guy,” not people who just have a spring in their step for a day, but the guy who is acting like he just won the lottery, his wife gave birth, and he's in remission from cancer all in the same day), my favorite approach is to ask the moron how, exactly, his life has improved as a result of the outcome of this particular game? Does he have more money? Has his health vastly improved? Are all his problems gone? Do his wife and kids hate him any less?Oh sure, you can argue that happiness and a celebratory mood are good for the soul, and I'll grant you that, but I won't grant you that this is equitable happiness. Over-the-top joy and adulation over an accomplishment you had quite literally absolutely nothing to do with is beyond vapid; it shows how empty your life really is. With your political teams, it is almost simultaneously contradictory, which makes it more maddening to watch you all engage in this sort of fandom. On one hand, allowing politicians to have anything to do with your ability to live a happy and/or successful life is the approach of losers. When team R members scream and yell about all of the taxes and restrictions put on their ability to start and run businesses, that's just pathetic if it actually paralyzes you. You don't have to like it but adapt and overcome. I have no respect for people who leave states they literally love in every other way because of politics. Stay and fight, you coward. Fight to find a way to excel despite the difficult conditions placed before you. Conversely, it is absolutely true that if one of these teams wins too many times in a row, in too many of their most extreme ways, it will have an effect on almost all of us, and in almost universally negative ways. The Climate Change extremists are teetering on major victories that will dismantle America's ability to be the globe's superpower, and are already having devastating effects on our current economy. We are inches away from a goal line stand that, if it fails, could outlaw abortion in America; a decision that will not end abortions in any way, it will merely end in many more deaths of not just babies, but their mothers. Post Roe v Wade America will look like Prohibition America, but a lot more bloody. Behavior controlists have won a major victory with the vaccine mandates and have been given a new template on how to use the “greater good,” argument to get what they want. If they're allowed to continue, they will soon argue that, in order to keep hospitals from overflowing, we all have to do our part, all of the time. That means more than wearing masks, it means eating certain things and banning others to combat obesity and cancer. It means mandating exercise and banning certain kinds of speech. Neither movement is right all of the time. In fact, based on history, they're both wrong half of the time, which is the ultimate irony. Your team needs their team. America needs both teams in order to win. When the two teams are focused on their agendas, and not on destroying one another, they check each other from going too far. For now, that ship has sailed, and even if it wanted to turn around and come back, it would simply sit offshore in Long Beach for months on end, rotting like our food and furniture currently is.No, by the way, I don't know what the solution is, but I do know that we would start to move towards it if more Americans would step away from the table of madness, take off their R or D jerseys and instead, put on their “USA,” sweaters. Your teams suck, and they're making America suck…and you…you are not “saving America,” you all are ruining America and you all suck.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
On this week's episode of Kickin & Streamin Podcast, Graham & Jocelyn review the HBO Max documentary film The Janes. The film introduces the audience to a group of ordinary women who created a vast network of abortionists in Chicago during the late 60's and early 70's to provide safe and affordable illegal abortion to women in need. The documentary offers first-hand account by the women known as 'The Janes,' now in their late sixties and seventies, along with footage and interviews with law enforcement officers of the era. Graham & Jocelyn also had a discussion about the overturn of Roe v Wade ruling by the United States Supreme Court. Roe v Wade was a ruling by the same court in 1973 which guaranteed a woman's constitutional right to an abortion. Listen to this episode and feel free to tell us your opinion.
