Tony Moore mounts show of works by friends and neighbors After more than a year of curation, Tony Moore is poised to open his remote Philipstown gallery space and its lush grounds to display his work and that of 14 other artists whom he admires and calls friends. The show, Destination Earth, contains over 70 pieces spread across the wooded property and inside the light and roomy interior spaces. The main upstairs gallery seems like an airy treehouse, with vistas complementing the art. Moore and his wife, Cynthia Ligenza, met in New York City nearly 30 years ago at a gathering for people wanting to imbue their lives with health, art and sharing. Two years later, they moved to a 5-acre property on a ridge abutting Fahnestock State Park. The two married that summer under tall oaks, and the expansive surroundings continue to nurture creativity. "We are living in paradise," says Ligenza. Crediting her husband's vision and efforts, she says "every inch of our property is curated, and it brings me to tears to look at it because it's so beautiful." Moore has been producing beauty since childhood, even before his grandfather recognized his interests and gave him woodworking tools. Born in the midlands of England, Moore went to art school in the U.K. and Yale University. After graduating with an MFA, he installed exhibits at the Guggenheim, which would later acquire four of his works. The Brooklyn Museum owns two. Ligenza became a physician, with a practice in Cold Spring, while maintaining a lifelong devotion to music. The Ligenza Moore Gallery has hosted recitals featuring Ligenza on violin and with other musicians. Art beckons as one approaches the show, which explores "where we are, how we got here, what may endure, and what is to come." When coming from the plateau below the buildings, a ceramic platter by Jeff Shapiro sits before ascending stairs. Kurt Steger's wood-and-steel abstraction is adjacent to the gallery sign. More Steger pieces pepper the grounds. "Vipassana," by David Provan "Reverb," by Don Voisine "Summer Walk," by Katherine Bradford Sculptures by Kurt Steger and David Provan "The Thousand-Eyed Present (from Ralph Waldo Emerson)," by Meg Hitchcock Once inside the vestibule, there are graphic etchings and collages by Judy Pfaff, who attended Yale with Moore. Entering the upstairs space, Moore's dark painting on paper features a bright blue hand, echoing the hand imagery in Pfaff's work. On the landing leading to the main gallery, the shapes in each work mimic others in proximity. "The works start talking to each other," Moore says. "As a curator, you try to foster that conversation. I've spent a great deal of time moving things around in the gallery to try to achieve that balance and harmony." Moore's work in the show includes a mysterious painting that suggests a chrysalis or womb; a wall of pictorial ceramics he calls "fire paintings;" wood-fired ceramics with surface and interior interest; an early wood-fired ceramic wall tile; and one bronze and one ceramic-and-steel sculpture placed outside that shift in appearance depending on weather and light. "I'm not a figurative artist," Moore says. But he is also not an abstract artist such as his friend David Provan, who died last year. Instead, evocative imagery and forms with a spiritual component mark his work, which he suggests might be characterized as "symbolic abstraction." The gallery also has three small acrylics by Katherine Bradford, whose swimmers, while figurative, respect formal principles and abstract composition, with faces that are nothing more than slabs of color. Perhaps the most traditional art in the show is by Moore's neighbor, Simeon Lagodich, who is completing a series of Hudson Valley plein air paintings. An iguana poses with an adorned woman painted by Garry Nichols, and around her is a ceramic piece by Moore that might look like a pair of animals - dogs, bunnies? On a lawn behind the gallery and near the sheltered Anagama-Noborigam...

In a lively and engaging conversation with ASEAN Game host Ryan Walters, Kuala Lumpur City's Giancarlo Gallifuoco opens up about his life, career, and the personal choices that define his globe-trotting journey.  The man better known as 'GG' delves into formative years in the youth ranks at Tottenham and Swansea, and how that experience contrasts with youth development in Asia. He also sheds light on his nomadic early career that saw him make stops in Australia, England, and Italy, before finding stability with KL City FC, where he's flourished for four seasons. Crediting the pivotal 2021 Malaysia Cup victory as a transformative moment that solidified his bond with the team and city, GG goes in-depth on how that led to his role as a vocal leader in a surprisingly closeknit dressing room. Beyond the pitch, he explains why Kuala Lumpur has become home - highlighting the supportive environment, the joy of starting a family (perhaps a future Malaysian national teamer?), and the cultural fit that makes KL special. A man contributing to football's rising stature in Malaysia both on and off the pitch, this is not a conversation to be missed! Joining us all the way from Santa Barbara for this episode is Darrell M. McNeill, director of operations at the Black Rock Coalition and author of a new 33 1/3 study of the Isley Brothers' mighty 1973 album 3 + 3. We start by asking our guest about his '90s contributions to the Village Voice and his involvement with the B.R.C.. Crediting his dad for his own childhood love of the Isleys, Darrell tells us how he came to write about the band. We discuss their unique history across six-plus decades, arriving at the dramatic game-changer that was 3 + 3. Inevitably referencing Jimi Hendrix — an Isleys sideman in the mid-'60s — we ask Darrell about the group's pioneering hybrid of R&B and rock and their covers of classic songs by Carole King, James Taylor et al. A special nod, of course, to Jimi's incalculable influence on kid brother and budding guitar genius Ernie. From the Isleys to Isaac Hayes: following two clips from Ira Robbins' 1995 audio interview with the sometime Stax superstar, we discuss such radical milestones as 'Theme from Shaft' and Hot Buttered Soul's version of Bacharach & David's 'Walk On By'. After a brief digression to salute the 50th anniversary of long-time RBP contributor John Broven's seminal 1974 book Walking to New Orleans, Mark talks us out with quotes from newly-added interviews with Janis Joplin (1969) and Beatles session guitarist David Spinozza (1971). Jasper then wraps up the episode with remarks on Destiny's Child (2003) and The Comet is Coming (2019). Many thanks to special guest Darrell M. McNeill. In a recent earnings call held on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, Coty Inc., one of the leaders in the beauty industry, shared its latest financial results. CEO Sue Nabi, when speaking to investors, emphasized specific key achievements: "The strength of our Q2 and first half results reinforce several of our convictions, including: Number one, the attractiveness of the beauty market; two, the strength of our brands; number three, Coty's transformed and industry-leading capabilities and of course our disciplined financial execution." Nabi acknowledged that despite geopolitical and macroeconomic disruptions, the global beauty market continues to show momentum, reflecting consumers' continued focus on beauty as a fundamental part of their well-being. According to the earnings call, Coty Inc. has exceeded expectations for Q2 in terms of performance, claiming to have seen significant growth in revenues for both Q2 and the first half of the year. Like-for-like revenues, as reported by the company, have increased by 11% and 14% in these specific periods respectively, a growth rate surpassing that of the overall beauty market. The company has credited this growth to the strong performance of the Prestige and Consumer Beauty segments. Parallel to the increase in revenue, Coty claims to have seen an upturn in profitability, with the growth of their operating and EBITDA margins. These margins have led to increased free cash flows, a sign indicative of a company that demonstrates disciplined financial execution as stated by Nabi: "I am very pleased to confirm that we once again met a key milestone in our deleveraging agenda, as we exited calendar year 2023 with leverage of approximately 3 times, in line with our guidance." Crediting the leverage to its portfolio of brands coupled with innovative capabilities, Coty has been focused on maintaining a balanced growth agenda, emphasizing volume, a premiumized mix, strategic pricing, and targeted marketing investments. Coty claims that it continues to make strategic moves within the beauty industry, evidenced by successful product launches throughout the year. Among them, the CoverGirl Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence foundation in the Consumer Beauty segment and the popularity of fragrances under the Prestige brand like Burberry. Coty also acknowledged the importance of digital and e-commerce platforms, adjusting business strategies to move stride for stride with these evolving platforms. Looking ahead, Coty remains committed to its balanced growth strategy, based on statements made during the earnings call. The company plans to put a greater emphasis on expanding its digital and e-commerce presence, fortifying its skincare business, exploiting consumer trends, and committing to reducing emissions. In line with current market trends, Coty's strategies are designed to wield its valued brands and extensive capabilities to generate further growth. However, it is important to note that while Coty's plans sound promising, sustained growth in this highly competitive market will depend on how effectively they can implement these strategies and adapt to rapidly changing consumer trends. As the e-commerce landscape grows, the company's focus on digital strategy will be crucial to tap into evolving consumer shopping habits. Further, the commitment to reducing emissions reflects an alignment with the increasing global emphasis on sustainability, a trend that could potentially generate consumer goodwill and brand differentiation. But as all plans entail risks, the execution of these initiatives and the outcomes they generate in the coming years should be monitored closely. Named after and guided by her parents, Jerry and Linda, Alise Sjostrom's Jer-Lindy Farms produces award-winning cheeses.  A graduate of the University of Minnesota and Vermont Institue for Artisan Cheese, Sjostrom is quick to point out the biggest misconception about her line of work - that being lactose intolerant means you can't enjoy the fruits of her labor. “Cheese is actually quite low in lactose compared to dairy products like milk, cream, and yogurt,” says Sjostrom.  “Most contain less than 2g per one ounce serving, which is far less than the 12-13g found in a one cup serving of milk.” Crediting the lessons she's learned along the way from others in the cheese industry and her team of owners and employees, Sjostrom not only produces cheese with her team at Redhead Creamery, but the business is also making it foray into the spirits industry.  Listen in to find out which by-product of the cheese-making process is making its way into cocktails. My connection with the Tennessee based outdoor apparel company BowAdx dates back to 2017. Meeting one of their staffers, Rick Devericks, at the Department of Defense Warrior Games in Chicago has been life changing. A Veteran and avid archer, Rick should be familiar with fans of The HHAUSA Podcast, having been on twice and as recently as last month. This week's guest and I have been playing a game of cat and mouse for the better part of a year and finally aligned schedules to record an episode. A busy family man, archer, corrections officer and staff manager for BowAdx, Tracy Rogers knows a thing or two about being busy.A recent surgery had him laid up long enough to slow down for an hour and I wish we used video on here. The pink backdrop of his daughter's bedroom was a sight to see but you'll have to take my word for it. Sorry Tracy!Growing up in Arkansas, he started hunting at a young age and like many of us in our late 40's, engineered a thing or two from what was around the house to try and get a leg up on the game. I won't spoil the story but let's just say that I will never look at a swing set again without thinking of Mr. Rogers! On a serious note, the Razorback has spent more than two decades inside the walls of a prison and has stared evil straight in the face on more than one occasion. Crediting his strong faith for keeping him going, Tracy has also had the chance to share that faith through his work and have a positive impact in a place that needs it the most.Good friends and hunting partners with BowAdx owner Chad Davis, I look forward to one day sharing the 3D range, deer camp or dinner with Tracy and we thank him for his service. On a personal note, I get a handful of uplifting messages from Rogers each week on Instagram and can't tell you how many times they arrive just when I need them. God has a way of placing people in our lives and I am thankful that He put Tracy in mine. You can add Tracy on Facebook or follow him on Instagram at t.rogers35Last but not least, don't forget to checkout BowAdx on social media or visit their website at www.bowadx.comFor more information about HHAUSA and how you can support our mission, visit www.hhausa.orgTo purchases HHAUSA hats, shirts, challenge coins and tumblers, visit www.hhasports.com

Say It Skillfully® is a show that helps you to benefit from Molly Tschang's expert guidance on the best possible ways to speak your mind at work in a positive and productive manner. Episode 190 professionals who know their boundaries call in with how they're willing to “say no” when something is not ok and to make career transitions to stay true to themselves! Working in IT, Alex calls in about a dodgy situation in which his boss and boss's boss are at odds—with Alex in the middle (sigh). “Transparency is our friend” proves again to be the answer. Hear how transparency of both bosses' “radio silence” also helped Alex make a brave, and right, call to leave a culture that wasn't consistent with his values. Hear how he let one door close to open an unexpected new one, and has not looked back! Then Mary, who has worked in many aspects of healthcare, takes us through her own epiphany working for an executive who seemed to have two very different personalities (warm and harsh). Crediting her foray into studying (and teaching) mindfulness, she shares how she was able to deliberately step back—with an open heart— and pivot her approach with this leader to create a dramatically different relationship, both 1:1 and in group meetings. Mary also shares how she made the call to leave a “bad boss” (22:40). Finally, Tony, who works in the public sector, opens up about his own journey as he's a “leader of leaders” and developing what that looks like. He's candid about his areas of growth—ceding control, setting expectations and engendering trust. In building Tony's team, he and Molly talk about vulnerability as a must for trust, and connecting as human beings (all with strengths and weaknesses) to support each other's success. “Measuring” our degree of connection/relationship also came up, and Molly offers ways to consider this both quantitatively and qualitatively (39:20). Enjoy these thought-provoking conversations—learn how to navigate work while being invaluable and true to yourself. Molly's thought for the week: “Mindset is everything. The way you look at the world is the way it appears. Telling yourself you are capable, confident and going to crush the day with kindness not only lets you change your world but the world of everyone around you..” —Garry Ridge

MONDAYS 8/7c AND TUESDAYS 9/8cABOUT THE VOICE The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the show's newest season, which premieres March 6. Grammy Award-winning hip-hop star Chance the Rapper and platinum-selling singer-songwriter Niall Horan claim their red chairs alongside returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton as they vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon. The competition is tougher than ever as Shelton goes for the win in his final season. The show's innovative format features five stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and Live Performance Shows. During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the coaches are based solely on voice and not looks. The coaches hear the artists perform but they don't get to see them, thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by the artist's voice, they push a button to select the artist for their team. At this point, the coach's chair will swivel so that they can face the artist they selected. If more than one coach pushes the button, the power then shifts to the artist to choose which coach they want to work with. If no one pushes their button, the artist is eliminated from the competition. The artists' family and friends watch their Blind Auditions from side stage with host Carson Daly, cheering on their loved ones and hoping for a coveted chair turn. Returning this season is the block, which adds another layer of coach competition during the Blind Auditions. The coach chairs each have an extra set of buttons with the other three coaches' names on them, which prevents a coach from adding a new artist to his or her team. The coaches can use their block buttons only on one artist for the entire first round of the competition. The blocked coach only discovers they are blocked if they press their button, and though their chair will still turn, their lane lights up with "BLOCKED." If the coach doesn't press their button, the block is still available for another audition. Once the teams are set, the battle is on. The coaches dedicate themselves to developing their team of artists, giving them advice and sharing the secrets of their success. During the Battle Rounds, the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together. The artists are vying for their coach's confidence and decision to take them to the next round. After each vocal battle, the coach must choose which of his or her artists will advance to the next round of competition. This season during Battles, the all-new Playoff Pass is at stake. The Playoff Pass will allow both artists in a battle to advance while the Playoff Pass winner gets a huge advantage by skipping the Knockout Rounds and advancing straight to Playoffs, taking them one step closer to Lives. Each coach will have one Playoff Pass to use as well as one steal in the Battles. With the steals in play, a losing artist is available for the other coaches to save and bring onto their own team. Artists who won their battle or were stolen by another coach will advance to the Knockouts, while the four artists with a Playoff Pass will advance straight to Playoffs. In the Knockouts, the artists will be paired against another teammate, but this time they will perform individually while their direct competitors watch and wait. To prepare for this high-pressure competition, the coaches enlist legendary country music icon Reba McEntire as the Mega Mentor to advise all of the artists competing in the Knockouts. Having served as Battle advisor to Team Blake during the show's inaugural season, it's most fitting Reba returns as Blake coaches his final group of artists and bids farewell to the competition. The coaches will choose the winner of each Knockout, and the artist not selected will be available to be stolen by another coach. The pressure is on as each coach will only have one steal in the Knockouts. The Playoffs are back, further bolstering the competition following the Knockouts. The 20 remaining artists hold nothing back and tough decisions are made when each coach can only advance two artists to the live semifinals. The stakes are even higher for the artists because there are no steals available. Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete against each other during live broadcasts. This time, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artist. The live semifinals will be more dramatic than ever because the Top 8 artists will all perform live for a real-time vote, and results will be revealed at the end of that show. After the real-time votes are counted that night, the five artists with the most votes will be revealed and advance to the following week's finale. Those with the lowest number of votes will be sent home. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract. "The Voice" is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon, and ITV Studios The Voice USA, Inc. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as an executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson and Adam H. Blue carbon has emerged as a popular climate solution, with offset marketplaces like Verra and Gold Standard eyeing blue carbon methodologies and Salesforce and the World Economic Forum teaming up to announce their own blue carbon credit framework at COP27 last year. Crediting for blue carbon usually means protecting ecosystems like mangrove forests, seagrass beds, and salt marshes. It can also include restoring these ecosystems when they've been degraded or destroyed. A recent paper published in the journal “Earth Science Reviews” titled “Remote Sensing for Effective Blue Carbon Accounting” reviewed the potential for new technology to improve the remote sensing of blue carbon ecosystems. Carbon markets continue to grow, and billions of dollars will likely flow toward blue carbon projects. So how well can scientists even tell when ecosystems are sequestering CO2? August is winding down but the summer of upheaval and change in pro golf continues with the PGA Tour announcing its next move in the battle against LIV. It's a series of moves, really, dramatically re-shaping what the Tour is, who controls it, and acknowledging some truths that many have been shouting about for years. Andy and Brendan discuss the new “elevated” tour, how it will all fit into the schedule, who should get the credit (thank u Mr. Mickelson!), and if Jay Monahan and his team are the right people to implement it all going forward. They also discuss the notion that the Tour copied LIV. Rory and Tiger's new TGL project is also pondered at length, as Monday Night golf returns in a new way.
