Hope 4 Today examines practical life issues through the lens of the Bible. Host Najja E. Brown greets the audience with hope and encouragement from God's Word.
A worthy life resides fully in Jesus Christ. God has positioned us in Christ and clothed us in His righteousness. As a believer, our lives should align with God's expectations. Our desires and goals are to walk worthy or consistently with who God is and what He has done. God is the one who saves and calls us. Through His power, we can bear fruit in every good work. Eph. 4:1 (NIV), says, "As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received." Walking worthy is a true walk of faith, resulting from being in Christ Jesus. Join us on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 3:30 pm (PT) as we discuss walking worthy of our calling in the Kingdom of God. Dr. Michael Ley, our special guest, will share a biblical perspective on living a worthy life. Dr. Ley is a minister, teacher, and preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is depicted through various figures, metaphors, and titles. One is the "Lion of Judah," evoking imagery of majesty, power, and authority. Rev. 5:5 (NIV), says, "Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He can open the scroll and its seven seals.” The Lion Tells His Tale is an African Proverb that says, "Until the lion tells his tale, the hunt will always glorify the hunter."Essentially, he who holds the pen controls the narrative. How do we make room for diverse voices to be heard in the story of American History? Who will tell the "Unspoken Truths" of the African American experience? These questions are explored in the world premiere play, "The Lion Tells His Tale." Join us Tuesday, July 23, at 3:30 PM (PT), with special studio guest, Vida Oliphant-Sneed, playwright of the play "The Lion Tells His Tale" which debuted in Seattle, Washington, on May 1-5, 2024. We will learn about her journey and why she wrote the play. Mrs. Sneed is a wife, mother, grandmother, and educator. She is a Teaching Leader within the Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) international Bible study program. You may speak with the host by calling (319) 527-6720. Yield to the King Ministry (Y2K Ministry) has made great strides since its inception in June 2015. I am reflecting on the faithfulness of God, His plans for the ministry, and the success that unfolds. My heart is thankful and grateful. Through it all, I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me. Proverbs 16:3 (NIV) says, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." God gave me the vision and entrusted me to carry out His purpose and plans through Y2K Ministry. Join us Tuesday, July 9, at 11:30 AM (PT) as Najja E. Brown, the founder and Executive Director, shares her Y2K Ministry journey with all its challenges and triumphs. You may speak with the host by calling (319) 527-6720. The Lord God is the source of our salvation. Christians are delivered and redeemed from the penalty of sin and its consequences which are death and separation from God. Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice through His death. He conquered death by rising from the dead. Christ Jesus is the personification of salvation. Isaiah 12:2 (NKJV) says, "Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation." Join us on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 3:30 pm (PT) as we discuss the source of our salvation -- the triune God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Dr. Michael Ley, our special guest, will share a biblical perspective of salvation. Dr. Ley is a minister, teacher, and preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. During the last days, spiritual deception will rise. False doctrines always contradict the Word of God. People will stray from sound doctrine. As believers, we must attune our ears to the voice of God and meditate on His Word day and night. Let the Holy Spirit guide and teach us, if not, spiritual deception may sound good and seep in. We must remain faithful, diligent, and prepared. I Timothy 4:1-2 (NKJV) says, 1 "Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron.." Join us on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 3:30 pm (PT). We will discuss the importance of resisting demonic doctrines. To speak to the host call (319) 527-6720. The seven last Words of Jesus Christ should cause believers to pause and reset. Jesus in His suffering showed His divinity and humanness. He understands what we go through when suffering! This lesson is not exhaustive, but a time to reflect on those things that matter most. Jesus exemplifies forgiveness. He offers salvation to those who believe. He lays the foundation for relationships. He understands feelings of abandonment. He experienced distress. He is triumphant. And, in Him, there will be a reunion of the saints. Join us on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 3:30 p.m. (PT). We will discuss the last seven Words of Jesus Christ found in the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. As believers, we are called to put on the complete armor of God. Why is that? Because we are in constant spiritual warfare. And while this spiritual battle is present, we are called to be steadfast and endure hardship as soldiers in the army of God. The battle is already won, and the victory is in Jesus Christ. II Timothy 2:3 (NKJV) says, "You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ." There is no time for distractions. Jesus Christ enlisted us, so let's aim to please Him. Join us on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 3:30 p.m. (PT) as we discuss hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Dr. Michael Ley, our special guest, will share a biblical perspective. As believers, our goal is Christlikeness. The ministry of the Holy Spirit produces godliness in believers. The sanctification process conforms us to the image of Christ. In Christ Jesus, our transformation demonstrates spiritual maturity. Hence, the reasons why we live to glorify God. Our focus is eternal, not having an appetite for the desires of this world. Romans 12:2 (NKJV) says, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Join us Tuesday, January 2, at 3:30 PM (PT) as we further discuss sanctification and its meaning with our featured guest, Dr. Michael Ley, a minister, teacher, and preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The year 2023 is coming to an end. Now is the perfect time to reflect, assess our spiritual growth, and pray for the coming of the new year. I hope that whatever has happened, our relationship with God and others is deepening and full of gratitude and joy. Romans 8:28 (NKJV) says, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." God the Father has written our book of life. His purpose and plan for us unfold each day. Every chapter in our life's earthly journey is penned by Him. We can stand on God's Word and plug into the power or shrink because of a lack of knowledge or disbelief. We must speak the Word of God to change the condition or circumstances in our hearts, mind, and body. Isaiah 55:11 (NIV) says, "So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." God's Word will do what it says it will do! Join us Tuesday, November 28, at 3:30 PM (PT) as we discuss the application of the Word of God. Call in to speak with the host (319) 527-6720. In our relationship with Jesus Christ, we are called to a life of service. Life is challenging just trying to manage the ups and downs, uncertainty, and the unknown. The real test is not being discouraged, and remaining on the course. God provides what we need and gives us direction. He equips us to be overcomers and wants us to celebrate our victories. I Kings 19:9 (NASB) says, "Then he came there to a cave and spent the night there; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” What would your response be if asked the same question during difficulty? Join us on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. (PT) as we discuss managing the ups and downs of life and Christian service. Dr. Michael Ley, our special guest, will share a biblical perspective. King David did not get to build the Temple. Solomon, King David's son built and furnished God's Temple according to God's specifications. The Temple was completed and the Ark of the Covenant was brought and placed in the Holies of Holy of the Temple. Solomon gave a sermon and then offered a prayer of dedication to the LORD God, recorded in II Chronicles 6:14-42. Today's episode will focus on verse 20 (NKJV) "That Your eyes may be open toward this temple day and night, toward the place where You said You would put Your name, that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place." Join us Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 3:30 PM (PT) as we discuss the meaning of the Temple of God for believers in Christ Jesus. Call in to speak with the host (646) 668-2946. Miraculously, God the Father delivered humankind from the penalty of sin. His love, grace, and mercy provided to those who believe in the person and work of Jesus Christ, an opportunity to be with Christ forever. We can't earn it, and we don't deserve it. This positional eternal state of being was granted to us by God himself. Romans 6:23 (NKJV) says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." While we were sinners, Christ atoned for our sins. We are free from the penalty of sin, its power, and its consequences. Hallelujah, to God be the Glory! Join us Tuesday, July 25, at 3:30 PM (PT), as we further discuss salvation and its meaning with our featured guest, Dr. Michael Ley, a minister, teacher, and preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In our sinful state, our goodness is tainted with selfish motives and selfish desires. Our goodness does not please God --no one does good, not even one. God's goodness, on the other hand, represents His standard of goodness in all His ways. In Christ Jesus, our Heavenly Father ushers in a newness that is cloaked in Christ's righteousness, and the old self will pass away. Christ renews and transforms our minds. During that process, God will develop our potential to the greatest degree possible. II Cor. 5:17 (NKJV) says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." When we yield and surrender, the Holy Spirit will produce in us the best version of self we can be. Join us Tuesday, July 11, at 3:30 PM (PT), as we discuss and remember the blessing of being transformed through the power of God. Call in to speak with the host (646) 668-2946. Years ago, I discovered this little book, The Prayer of Jabez: Breaking Through to the Blessed Life, by Dr. Bruce H. Wilkinson. It was the #1 New York Times Bestseller. I was intrigued, so I purchased and read it, with the promise that it would change my life. Well, God did not grant me material blessings but rather a heart for Jesus. That was life-changing and more precious than gold! Jabez's prayer is mentioned in I Chronicles 4:10 (NIV). It says, "Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request. Everything in this prayer speaks to who God is -- the very source of all blessings. It's Tea Time! How often do you sit down and sip tea with a special person in your life? There are many traditions around high tea and afternoon tea time. Etiquette would say to serve a meal with meat during high tea, or pastries, little sandwiches, scones, and cakes during afternoon tea. Fellowship is the key. It's an opportunity to share our love. John 13:34 says, "I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another." (NASB). By the end of this episode, you'll have a new idea for how you can approach tea time. Join us Tuesday, May 30, at 3:30 PM (PT), as we consider the acronym T.E.A., for a practical Tea Time! As believers in Christ, we know He is our solid rock and firm foundation. He is our cornerstone when we completely trust and are committed to Him. Are we standing on a firm foundation that will endure the test of time? In Matthew 7:25 (NIV), Jesus speaks of building our life on a solid rock by saying, "The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." He goes on to contrast the wise vs. the foolish man. Join us Tuesday, April 18, at 3:30 PM (PDT), as we glean wisdom on how to journey with Christ as our solid rock. Resurrection Day is a time of rejoicing. On our behalf, Christ our Savior and Lord conquered the wages of sin. Death no longer has its sting. We are free indeed! Luke chapter 24, verses 6 and 7, say, "He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' " (NKJV) Join us Tuesday, April 4, at 3:30 PM (PDT) for a quick prayer of thanks to our Risen Lord as we await Resurrection Day. As believers in Christ, we owe our lives to Him. He died for the sins of the world. In Christ, we are free indeed. This Lenten season reminds us of our need for redemption. Jesus Christ atoned for our sins, reconciled us to God the Father, and clothed us in His righteousness. We are in a restored relationship with God after being separated from Him because of our sins. II Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) says, "For He made Him who knew no sin to besin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." The redemptive work of Jesus Christ (true God and true Man) has freed us from the penalty of sin. Ash Wednesday, also known as the Day of Ashes, is February 22, 2023. This day is a holy day of prayer and fasting. Christians confess their sins and profess their devotion to God. Most Christians will attend a church service where a minister, pastor, priest, or other ordained clergies, will place ashes on the forehead of the worshiper in the shape of a cross. The ashes remind us that we are dust and to dust, we shall return. This ceremony means that we belong to Christ. Genesis 3:19 (NIV) says, ”By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust, you will return.” Join us Tuesday, February 21, at 3:30 PM, PST, as we look at the significance of Ash Wednesday, the start of the Lenten season leading up to Resurrection day. Our destiny is not to remain here on earth forever. Tomorrow is not promised and nobody knows for sure what today will bring. Idle time is fleeting; but when we pause to reflect it's long-lasting. How can we live in the moment free of the cares and worries of this world? For starters, we can yearn for and seek time to reflect on God's mercies that are new every morning. Matthew 6:34 (NASB) says, “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Be encouraged, beloved! Society suggests that living a fragmented life from family and community is the norm. Today, more than ever, the differences, untruths, fear, and ignorance tear our families, communities, and nation apart. Restoration is needed to achieve healing, harmony, and unity. I Peter 5:10 (NIV) says, "And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast." Join us on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 3:30 PM PST, with our special guest Angela M. Davis, founder of Community Connections Seattle Unlimited. God gave Ms. Davis a vision to restore individuals, communities, and groups one circle at a time. She supports families and communities through processes of healing from pain, hurt, and trauma. Angela's life experiences paved the way for her to solely rely on God's healing power, mercy, and grace. You will hear Ms. Davis's testimony about how at age 12, she survived losing her mother to suicide. Hope4Today is an outreach program of Yield to the King Ministry. Children are a blessing from God, and parenting is a huge responsibility that shouldn't be taken lightly. True enough, single parenting is met with many challenges. Generally, the family structure breaks down, and children live with the stigma that they are on the short end of the stick. Single parents can be overcomers by surviving financial hardship, emotional upheaval, and spiritual burdens of unworthiness. Trust in the Lord and His promises so you can live with hope on the horizon. Psalm 127:3 (NASB) says, "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward." God desires single parents to align their families with sound biblical teaching and application. With Him, all things are possible. Join us on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 3:30 PM PST, with our special guest Patrice Harris, founder of The G.O.O.D.E. Foundation. God gave Ms. Harris a vision for the Foundation, and her passion is to uproot the bondage of brokenness and unworthiness in single-parent families with sustainable results. As a single mother, you'll hear her personal testimony and the transformation that occurred when she surrendered all to God. Ms. Harris is the author of "When the Lord Speaks, Hannah's prayer." All Saints' Day, also known as All Hallows Day, is November 1. Halloween, a contraction of All Hallows' Eve, is a holiday observed on October 31, the evening before All Saints' Day. The Celts believed the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. I Thessalonians 5:21-22 says, "Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil." As believers, we must be careful that we don't mistake evil for good. As followers of Jesus Christ, we must be careful about what we align with -- even in traditional celebrations and fun! Join us Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 3:30 PM, PDT, as we learn about All Saints' Day, an alternative to Halloween from a biblical perspective. Call in to speak with the host (646) 668-2946. The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Every believer receives the gift of the Holy Spirit upon conversion. God is not seen but experienced. Jesus Christ is pictured during His ministry and hanging on Calvary's cross. On the other hand, the Holy Spirit is not pictured but is described with symbols such as a dove; a tongue of fire (flame); the wind; a lamp; rays of light; a cloud; water; and oil are just a few examples. He is a person, not it, and indwells and fills believers so we can walk in His power and guidance. John 3:5-6 says, 5 "Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." There is a truth that sets us free --one truth, Jesus the Christ that gives strength to all the other truths. And since the key truth is a person, not a thing, our freedom is found in our relationship with the person, Jesus the Son of God. Our victory is in Him! It doesn't matter what angle or approach Satan uses, Christ will already be there. The enemy has been defeated. Christ wins the spiritual battles and He has won the war. Romans 8:37-38 (NIV) says, "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." It's been a while since I've been on the air. Each day here on earth is a gift from God. At the start of our day, we should thank God because He gave us another day to serve Him and others. How do we view time? Is it limited? Do we regret losing it? Do we throw it away? Do we chase it? Do we seize the moment? Tomorrow is a blessing. Yesterday should bear lessons learned. Our perspective concerning yesterday and tomorrow should elicit trust in God because He is in control of time. Jesus said in Matthew 6:34, Don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have its own worries. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (NIV) Remember there are two days you should never worry about: yesterday and tomorrow. You can't live in the past. You can't live in the future. Our time is here and now, at the moment. There are so many roads to take on our journey with Jesus Christ. Sometimes we second guess where to turn or in which direction to go when we reach a fork in the road or a dead end. Have you ever asked why the detours in life? The answers are embedded in God's purpose and a plan for our lives. When we patiently wait on Him for guidance and direction, we'll find the strength to keep pressing on with our eyes on the prize! Philippians 3:13-14 (NASB), says, "Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." When we look back over our lives, we can see the divine interruptions, divine interventions, and providential care of Almighty God. Life isn't easy, but there is always hope! Choose a word that best describes your life --is it triumphant or defeated? No matter what we are faced with, life is worth rejoicing. We can be victorious, successful, and achieve what God has for us. We are measured by God's standard, not the world's standard. II Corinthians 2:14 (NASB) says, "But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us reveals the fragrance of the knowledge of Him in every place." Verse 15 goes on to say, "We are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing." Jehovah Rapha means the Lord heals physical and emotional needs. We often pray for physical healing, but our healing should be holistic, including physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Jesus did it all during His public ministry. And, the Holy Spirit was at work in and through the apostles, performing His ministry of glorifying Jesus Christ. Peter was told to heal a lame man lying at the Beautiful Gate. Acts 3:6 (NIV) says, "Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” The beggar was completely healed. Join us Tuesday, April 19, at 3:30 PM, PT, as we discuss the power of the name of Jesus, with our guest Dr. Michael Ley, DMin, ThD. Right now, Christians are observing the Lenten Season. Lent is a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. The following day is Good Friday and then in celebration of our risen Savior, we rejoice on Resurrection Day Sunday, proclaiming “He is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!” Acts 17:30-31 (NASB) says,30 "So having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now proclaiming to mankind that all people everywhere are to repent, 31 because He has set a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all people by raising Him from the dead.” Join us Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 3:30 PM, PT, as I reflect on the Lenten Season while traveling in an Islamic country. A surrendered life to Christ is powerful! In it, we have all the freedoms that we need. God wants us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and live sensibly, righteously and godly in this present age. Jesus Christ redeemed us and has clothed us in His righteousness. We are saved from the wages of sin --every lawless deed and all impurities so that we can stand worthy before God. Luke 9:23 (NKJV) says, "Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."To deny self requires a surrendered life. We cannot straddle the fence and live for ourselves and Christ! Join us Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 3:30 PM, PT,as we explore what it means to surrender your life to Christ. The Holy Spirit gives us the power we need to reject those old sinful desires. The fruit of the Spirit will produce Christlike characteristics. When we are led by the Spirit and walk with the Spirit, we can say “no” to sin and accept the “way out” God faithfully provides. We must follow the Holy Spirit's leading. As we give the Spirit more control of our lives, He begins to do in and through us what only He can do. He shapes us and grows us to produce much fruit for God's kingdom. Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Join us Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 3:30 PM, PT,as we explore the fruit of the Spirit and why the fruit manifests in the lives of Christians. Our heavenly Father graciously and freely distributes spiritual gifts to each believer. He wants us to use our gifts for His glory, but oftentimes we don't. He not only expects us to use our gifts, but also to know our spiritual gifts and to grow in them each day. I Peter 4:10 (NIV) says "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." Merry Christmas and Happy New Year is our standard greeting during this time of year! And when I say it, I mean it with all sincerity. I also want to acknowledge a few more holidays during December, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Boxing Day. Each of these holidays have significant meaning to the people who celebrate them. The account of the birth of baby Jesus can sometimes get lost in the December shuffle and transition into the new year. I want to remind us of the true reason for the season, which is the Christ child. In Luke 2:10-11 (NIV), it says "But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord." On December 25th, Christians are celebrating the advent of the Messiah, the first coming of Jesus the Christ. It is a time of rejoicing! Join us Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 3:30 PM, PT, as we remember and hold fast to the real reason for the Christmas season. Life is a journey! While living life we will encounter happiness, sadness, fear, and anger, just to name a few emotions. But the reality is, humankind was created to feel and show emotions. The million dollar question is how do we respond to God when life's circumstances directs us to the pathways of pain, disappointment, guilt, or shame? Our challenge is to stay on course and not detour. God wants us to seek and trust Him throughout our entire journey with all its ups and downs. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" There is a reason for everything God allows us to face. Pain also provides us an opportunity to experience the grace of God. He will give us what we need to endure. God expects us to communicate with Him through prayer. There is power in prayer. God is always ready to help, provide, and get us through any situation we encounter. We can depend on Him! He has inclined His ears to hear us and to answer our prayers. God is always on time, and according to His will, answers prayer. The outcome will glorify Him. I Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV) says, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." No matter the circumstances, be encouraged to keep trusting in our Heavenly Father. His love, mercy and grace, allow His blessings to flow abundantly. Just because something is old doesn't mean it's without value. Family heirlooms appreciate in worth with every generation. There's an Old English traditional rhyme that dates back to 19th-century Lancashire. It describes the items a bride should have on her wedding day: "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, a sixpence in your shoe." In Christ, we are brand new in the sight of God, no matter our chronological age or how battered, torn, and tired we may be. God's grace and mercy upcycles believers in Christ. He reuses us as His new creation and we become more valuable in His sight. I Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." The Holy Bible is the sacred Word of God. It shows His characater and accounts for God's revelation of himself to His people. God caused the Bible to be written for the express purpose of revealing to us His plan for redemption. In each section of the Bible, we see God's holy, unchanging, faithful, gracious and loving character. Christians may be surprised to learn that the doctrine of justification by faith is not only found in the New Testament but also in the Old Testament. Genesis 15:6, says, "Abraham, in response to God's promise, believed the LORD, and it was counted to him as righteous." In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul wrote about justification by faith by contrasting justification by faith with justification by works of the law. We are not justified by our works. And, the blessing is, being "justified" means we are no longer enemies of God! Romans 5:1 says, "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." The Christian belief system is rooted in justification by faith. When sinners recognize and acknowledge their need for a Savior, they are making their way toward God. Accepting the Son of God, Christ Jesus, as Savior is mankind being saved by grace through faith. Our justification is by faith alone and apart from good deeds. Romans 4:3 says, For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”(NASB) Join us Tuesday, August 10, at 3:30 PM, PDT,with special guest Dr. Michael Ley, DMin, ThD. When growing up, a common slogan often said is “live for today and hope for tomorrow.” Today, another more common phrase recognizes two differing categories of people, the “haves and have nots.” If we live for material wealth and allow the world to define our worth, we're in trouble and living life out on a limb. Material wealth passes away, but spiritual wealth is being in a rich relationship with Christ Jesus as Savior, Master and Lord, for all eternity. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (NIV) We have the promise of an abundant life and God promises to provide our every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Job is an interesting book in the Bible. Some find the account of Job unlike God because He allows Satan to cause His servant Job to suffer. To the contrary, God accomplishes His divine purpose for the pain and suffering that Job and his family endured. The account of Job's wife, whose name we don't know, indicates she walked alongside her husband until she could bear no more. In the midst of her despair, she suggested that Job curse God and die! Her counsel wasn't the best; she had lost sight of who God is. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit."(NIV) Join us Tuesday, June 29, at 3:30 PM, PDT, as we explore and discuss the account of Mrs. Job and the importance of words of wisdom and Godly counsel despite the circumstances. The Book of Esther was written in the 5th Century BC. It's nestled in between the Book of Nehemiah and the Book of Job in the Protestant Bible. During our last podcast, we dissected the story of Vashti the Queen of Persia. Vashti was dethroned and Queen Esther, a Jewish young woman, was chosen as her successor. God positioned Esther to be used in His master plan to save the Jewish people. There are four main characters in the Book of Esther, God, who is not mentioned, but clearly in the midst of it all; Xerxes, King of Persia; Mordecai, Esther's cousin; and Haman, chief minister to King Xerxes. Esther is the “star” of the story, but their lives are intricately interwoven. Join us Tuesday, June 15, at 3:30 PM, PDT, as we explore and discuss the story of Queen Esther. Vashti was Queen of Persia and the first wife of Ahasuerus (Xerxes), King of Persia. She was fair to look upon. Her husband, the King was wealthy. He gloated in his wealth for six months. At the conclusion of this eventful lifestyle, he held one last feast of seven days. During this feast, King Ahasuerus summoned for Vashti, his wife. He wanted her to parade before the princes and nobles of all his provinces to show off her beauty. Queen Vashti refused to do so and was dethroned. This remarkable story is recorded in chapter 1 of the Book of Esther. God has a master plan for all of us. Sometimes we don’t know how His plans for our lives are interwoven into His plans for the lives of others. God in His infinite wisdom, allowed Queen Vashti to be dethroned so Queen Esther would become Queen of Persia at the right time for the right reason. How often do we pray, "Lord, thy will be done?" What is the will of God? The short answer is it can be found in the Bible. We don’t have to search for God's sovereign will as if it's unattainable; we just need to discover His will within Scripture and apply them to our lives. God has revealed His will, precept upon pecept, to let us know what is right and true, and pleasing to Him. In II Tim. 3:16-17 (NIV) it says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."As followers of Christ, we should desire and pray for God's sovereign will to be complete in our lives. God in His infinite wisdom, mercy and grace, has absolute control and care over our souls! Join us Tuesday, March 23, at 3:30 PM, PDT,as we further discuss the will of God.
