The legendary PBS Kids program made its debut on June 6th, 1983. Highlights from Friday-Sunday, June 1st-3rd, include...1) 90.7 WMFE Orlando delivering another successful "silent drive," its fourth victory in a row.2) NPR is shutting down five news blogs, "The Two-Way," "All Tech Considered," "Parallels," "NPR Ed" and NPR Music's "The Record."3) Revenue is growing inside public media but the smaller stations aren't receiving it, leaving it just for the larger and midsize stations, according to CPB's latest "State of the System" report.4) WKAR East Lansing has just changed its frequencies in the Spectrum Repack, the first public television station in the United States to do so.5) 88.7 WBFO Buffalo wins 11 awards (9 first place and 2 second place) from the New York State Associated Press Association, including "Outstanding News Operation" for the fifth straight year in a row.6) St. Louis Public Radio (90.7 KWMU) turned 46 over the weekend. Over the years, its increased listenership and now broadcasts on an additional two stations (90.3 WQUB and 88.5 KMST).7) We now have a new intro and a closer for the podcast! It will also air on Amazon Prime.06) 1430 WPLN Nashville is off-the-air thanks to damage from its transmitter tower.07) TV 7 and 90.3 FM - KMNE Bassett, Neb. from NET Nebraska was off-the-air for a while yesterday but came back on-the-air within two hours.08) 90.5 KUT Austin is (currently) off-the-air. No word as to why that's the case.09) 93.5 KRTS Marfa, Tex. went off-the-air twice yesterday because of tower maintenance and weather. NYPR owns AM 820 and 93.9 FM - WNYC Radio, Classical 106.9 WQXR, New Jersey Public Radio and WNYC Studios.4) Technical problems include a low-power digital translator for Iowa Public Television (IPTV) going off-the-air for maintenance and a radio station from WVPB going off-the-air that may not return until later today.5) An All Things Considered host is heading down to Baltimore for an event hosted by 88.1 WYPR Baltimore. HINT: Its definitely not Ari Shapiro. Instead, its one of the three ladies who co-host the program. WDCQ-TV 19 (Q-TV) will remain as the PBS affiliate for Flint and all of Mid-Michigan.
