Please Listen – Very Important Message I’ve been quietly referring to things going on in my life right now, but I want to use today’s show to bring light to what is happening. My baby brother who lives quite a ways away has been battling a cancer called Multiple Myeloma: Multiple Myeloma is cancer that starts in the plasma cells in bone marrow. Bone marrow is the soft, spongy tissue found inside most bones. It helps make blood cells. Plasma cells help your body fight infection by producing proteins called antibodies. This an awful cancer which took our Dad’s life 19 years ago. Sadly, the wonderful treatment of chemotherapy has destroyed all of my brother’s bone marrow. This happens to about 20% of the patients and he happens to be one of them. I am presently waiting for a medical kit from his Transplant Coordinator. Once that arrives I will go to an independent lab and have a blood sample drawn. I will send that back to them and see if the cells would be a match for him. They want donors no older than 44, but regardless, the find the best matches with siblings… So now you know what I have been alluding to and wasn’t sure if I should mention it when I realized it might help someone else, or spur someone to donate blood, or sign the organ donor space on the back of their license. And today when I saw this story about this little Eliza, I knew I had to bring more awareness to her story. Because we are all connected, and we need to be there for each other. Definitely strive to give people more Wednesdays, we are part of the solution.

As I sit here writing this I realized I forgot to take a picture last night of my group! Dang it! I had such a wild and crazy day yesterday! First, I was off to my usual business luncheon - every first and second Tuesday of the month! I get to stand at the registration table and greet everyone! I met an incredible young entrepreneur who has many different fun businesses and does a Podcast! I'll definitely be interviewing him very soon... But let's back up a minute - my day started with an early cancellation for my Women Connectors that meet every second Tuesday. I'd ordered the food the night before, so some are expected, but when I had 3, ouch! And then the night before I was asked if I was coming to see my grand daughter honored at school...hello??? The night before. So I went to my meeting at 11:15 AM - slipped out early to go sit at this honors event for 2 hours. Got home, got another cancellation...food delivered by my wonderful husband, meeting set and off we go... But you have to listen in to hear the whole story. Sorry, that's why I do these podcasts, so you'll listen and now you can subscribe via iTunes or Stitcher Radio, your choice, and thank you for your following me. I am so absolutely thrilled that I took my side step last year to learn internet marketing. I was so very determined that no matter what I was going to learn how to market on line and grow my network marketing business in a bigger faster way. Well, I learned something alright, I learned I hated all that stuff. The solo ads, the strategic broadcasting to my list, the traffic sources and buying leads and trying to sell the program to others. I did not fail at it, but it just wasn't the rousing success story I thought would emerge after long months... However, it was part of my journey to bring me to my mentor and my future trainer on what I now do, which is this podcasting platform! Ironically, I had thought about doing something like this and had put it out to my friends for feedback and got a great nod of 'oh yeahs' from all those I asked. But it wasn't until I met Sam Crowley through this internet marketing organization we both belonged to that it all fell in place. But that was just the beginning - in fact, the picture on here was taken at that very same event in Nashville last fall! Little did I know how profound that would become for me. And the wonderful woman that took that picture has become a dear friend to me. But here's the thing to get a 'leg up' as the expression goes you gotta also 'STEP UP' and be willing to find your mentor or coach or trainer, whatever the term is for your niche! Now you need to listen to understand what I'm talking about! And please share that's what helps everyone grow in their business!

Dream Big Dreams on Motivational Monday

I know so many people that have dreams and are struggling to get away from the awful challenge of making money immediately. And I know, from personal experience that just doesn't always happen fast enough. Today's show is about one of my many detours that I took along the way to becoming my own boss, doing what I love to do... Brian Tracy's quote speaks volumes to me. This one is an excerpt from "The Treasury of Quotes" and the page, 'Attitude/Possibility Thinking': 'Dream big dreams! Imagine that you have no limitations and then decide what's right before you decide what's possible.' If you know in your heart that your dream is right, there is no stopping you until you make it possible. I've been on my journey to be free of the boss for many, many years. I've worked the jobs while I've played the network marketing game in the off hours. I've gone from one thing to another trying to find the perfect fit, and yes, make money while I was doing it. I've spent a chunk of change and then some starting stuff that slid sideways faster than I could get back up... But fast forward to today and here I am, doing what I love, helping people see the end of their tunnel and sharing other people's stories who have had hurdles to jump and did! It ain't easy, but you do have to want it to the point it becomes a 'sickness' as I said on a previous show. It's a fever and an unquenchable thirst all at the same time. And there's only one cure...keep on keepin' on! Please share this with someone you know who may be stuck and needs to hear a story...you never really know where someone is. People can be very private when they are going through their personal struggles. It always amazes me when they've come through it and then they share and yet had they held their hand out and said help me, we could have. I've been one of those people... and I learned that sharing helps in so many ways. Thank you. P.S. Please forgive my hiccup and I have since found Robin's book, to share with you the title: 'Everybody's Got Something'. And to think I just got thoroughly chastised the other day because I had misunderstood someone's name. Funny thing when I looked on her business card her name wasn't on it and I guess I missed it when I replied back to an email. No excuses, so I should have been more diligent in learning the proper name of this incredible, inspiration woman, Robin Roberts. I was really more focused on her story of recovery, enlightenment and perception. I listened to her passion of sharing with others the big health hurdle she faced only to have another one added right on top of it... Her wake up call was powerful as she realized it's the journey we should relish and not so much the destination that we're focused on... If you have been following this series you may remember there are actually 7 Faces of Intention as referenced in the book 'The Power Of Intention' . It is an extraordinary book and I have had a lot of fun sharing it with you and hope that you have embraced what you've heard. I have shared on every show that I wholeheartedly recommend you buy the book or rent it free from your local library, or grab the Kindle copy, but no matter what, you really want to read this book. I really read a lot on this chapter because he goes on and shares the 5 steps to getting the most out of this particular chapter. He references all 7 of them, and they are: creativity, kindness, love, beauty, expansion, abundance, and peaceful receptivity. He recommends putting these all on 3 X 5 index cards and placing them all over your home and work environment to be a constant reminder. I like that idea and will be doing that because even though I have embraced most of them, it doesn't take much to get out of sync and go backwards. I hope you enjoyed this series as much as I have. Thank you for sharing and letting other people in on what might help someone with their next adventure or bump in the road. I appreciate you very much.

On this show I share with you the story of Jack DeBoer regarding his journey of entrepreneurship. As of 2011 when the book was written that I refer to, he is responsible for 300,000 extended stay hotel rooms. He launched four hotel brands: Residence Inn, Summerfield Suites, Candlewood Suites and Value Place. He sold the first three hotel chains to Marriott, Hyatt and InterContinental Hotels, respectively. And speaking of respect, I so respect this 83 year old man who is still going strong as he shares his story from stage. He talks little actually about his rise to success and more of his 'awakening' to what truly is important. He tells his tale in his book: "Risk Only Money" by Jack DeBoer I'm reading his book, now, but I've been privileged to hear his wisdom from stage. He is very entertaining and pulls no punches in relating to his audience that at some point you have to decide your true priorities in life. Now, you know me, I'm not goin' give it to you all, you have to listen and then I'll know you'll want to grab his book! Enjoy your this day and please make someone else's by sharing this with someone that needs to hear it. I'd love a 5 Start Review on iTunes, every listen, every follow, every download may help someone else with their 'success story'.

Yes, I dub these motivational Mondays, because maybe my crazy adventures can motivate you to taking a BIG step, versus little tiny baby steps. Sometimes when life happens you have to challenge your comfort zone and take a running leap over the chasm! I did and am so very grateful that I did. And listening to Joel Olsteen's podcast this morning just reinforced what I truly believe. When you get a 'feeling' or a 'nudge' or that whisper from your subconscious saying don't or do...we need to listen. And listen and I did, but now it's your turn to find out what happened after I decided to stop fighting 'city hall' and to move forward with my life. At one point during all this commotion of going from $3,000 a month income to $400 I addressed my daughter very sternly one day. I was very concerned she was not taking our current dilemma very seriously. 18 at the time, she just looked at me and said, "Mom, I'm not worried, we've been here before and you've always gotten us out of it." Talk about a wake up call...and so I woke up and got busy on starting a new chapter. Thanks for tuning in and please share this, you have no idea how very much I appreciate your listening and passing it forward to someone that may need to hear my story, to help theirs.

Seeing beauty not only all around us, in people, nature, life itself, Dr. Dyers suggests we dig deeper and represent 'beauty'. In his book "The Power of Intentions" this is number 4 in his reference to 7 faces of intention. He tells a great story about how we view situations and how changing our perception can make something go from being downright ugly in our eyes, to a thing of beauty. This is a unique take on how we can co-create our world our way which is his posture in this book. I personally have adopted his 7 faces and each day I refresh my thoughts to make sure I am doing exactly that. Some days are, of course, harder than others, but a little different slant of your perception can make a HUGE difference. But you gotta listen in to hear his story that will enlighten you on how to really understand the power of 'be beauty'. And I'd love a share or a review on iTunes - 5 star would be very appreciated. And remember, on Friday I am interviewing a guest and the more you share the more we help her help you with the great service she'll be sharing. I think it's Julie Andrews, but YouTube has different credits for it...but it's the words that I am talking about, more than the song. This was the name of the company I worked for over 17 years ago. I loved it. I would do 'cold calls' all day long and walk in and say, "Hi I'm Gail, and I'm here to get to know you!" Easy sell once I got to know the people I was calling on. How about you, like cold calls, hate cold calls? I actually have a whole seminar script on that very subject, 'cause I love them. Why, you might ask - because it is no different than meeting your friend, your spouse, your pastor, anyone for the first time. So why is that such a 'hiccup' or hurdle for so many people. And I understand shy, because believe it or not I have a few precious people in my life that are shy...so I know that is difficult to overcome. But when you change your perception and decide it's 'fun' to make a new friend, it somehow isn't so daunting. Listen in and hear the story of my gig with "Getting To Know You". And please share it, you never know who needs to hear this, and you never know some day I may interview you and you'll want to be in front of a ton of people, so all of us could use your help in building this audience. Here's the quote for our Monday Motivational moment..."Sixty-nine percent of the country believes that a bad day at the beach is better than a good day at work." -- Gallup Poll as shared by Bob Beaudine in "The Power of Who". And I'm thinking this will be our book after I finish with Dr. Dyer's. But back to today's show. I had a little hiccup last night and ended up in the ER room for a few hours. Nothing major and it's fixable, but wow, makes you wake up and appreciate good news even more than you ever thought you would! We sorta go through our daily lives in a casual fashion until something wakes us up! In fact, ironically the podcast I listened to this morning by Joel Olsteen was about being content. Being content where you are and where your life is, while making plans to have a better job, better home, being married instead of single, etc. He's quite humorous as he shares his insights, but it is so true. If we stay in a discontented mood, whatever we would prefer will definitely not show up in our life. Negative only attracts more of the same and generally outright repels what you'd rather have. So if you agree with the quote, maybe it's time to be grateful for what you do have and not what you don't. Listen in to hear more of my thoughts. And as always, I do appreciate you. I also fill you in on the book I referred to in reference to yesterday's show on Dr. Wayne Dyer's face of intention, 'Be Love'. Thanks for listening today, tomorrow I interview, Bob Loudermilk, of Quantum Expositions talking about a brand new conference format embracing Entrepreneurs. Even on my fourth reading, excerpting it for you, I am amazed by the impact of his words and his way of phrasing how we can co-create our world our way. I mean, why shouldn't we create our world our way, if we do it in a way that cooperates in a face of love? You really want to get this book and read it several times over. You can find it at my site: www.TheGailFoleyShow.com on the resource page and it will take you over to Amazon. Or go to Amazon directly, either way, you will appreciate this book. You've probably heard the expression, "God given talent"? Heck, I use that expression often myself, but most recently on CBS News Sunday Morning broadcast they took on this subject. They featured a middle aged executive who quit his job to pursue a golf career... But here's the wildest part, he had never ever picked up a golf club BEFORE, ever! So what in the world is he thinking? Well, he's thinking if he practices enough he'll eventually be able to be on the 'golf tour circuit'. Okay, I don't know about you, but it will be interesting to see. But they went on to reference different body types more prone to certain sports, for example Michael Phelps, Olympic Gold Medalist. His long arms and torso, and short legs are perfect for swimming, probably not so good for say the high jump. Interesting stuff, my practice I talk about today is a whole 'nother story, but you'll have to listen in to hear my challenge. Thanks as always for listening and sharing. I appreciate it more than you know.

Hopefully, making today a better day for you, by reflecting on the fact just because the day has a title that's attached to a perceived stress factor doesn't mean you have to embrace that. Truly, if you analyze your behavior on Sunday afternoon are you already tensing for what you think Monday is going to bring? Can you change anything that is coming Monday by fretting about it on Sunday? Is your grumpiness from dreading 'your Monday' (can be different day depending on your job) affecting your relationship with your family and friends. Are they avoiding you on Sunday? Or just joining you in your misery because they gave up changing that... I know for a fact if you address the 'elephant in the room' you might find a way to diffuse the monumental weight you're feeling approaching that day of stress...just saying. Chris had a camera in his hands early on, thanks to the influence of his step dad who was a photographer. Graduating with a degree in photography from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California he held a couple jobs there before he came home to Wichita, KS to be with his ailing mother… He soon opened his first studio, Picture Palace, and later did freelance for a magazine with restaurants and food companies as their client focus. The photos he did all those years ago for a catalog company may very well appear in your mailbox in the form of ads still today. The company realizes if it's still working don't change it... However, now living back in Wichita, in 1997 Chris joined forces with his wife, Diana and that’s how I first met Chris is through Diana. We belonged to a women’s group and I needed some professional photos done…and I was introduced to this fabulous photographer Chris Brubaker! So listen in to hear more of their story and how things have changed in the world of photography...and as always, please share, comment, review or like this to being them more of an audience...

I am sure if you have been in business for any length of time you have heard this expression. I probably heard it first in my network marketing career that started over a decade ago... And I always find it invigorating when I am working with other people. As a team you can really lift others up, but also being part of that team, you grow personally and professionally. Even when you're unable to maybe participate fully, you can still support the team by being there and cheering your team on. My focus on this subject came about because one of my grand daughters recently injured herself while playing on her soccer team. Out for the season so she can fully heal she was about to tear up the slip regarding the time for the team photo...saying, 'well, I don't need this any more.' When her Mom reminded her that she will still be in the team picture, and she will suit up and be on the bench encouraging her team mates... So that prompted my reflection on being a T.E.A.M. Please share this, comment, subscribe, give me a review on iTunes. By spreading this far and wide when I interview someone they get a bigger audience...why Gabbin' With Gail...grows YOUR business. Tune in to listen to the 2nd 'Face of Intention' shared from Dr. Wayne Dyer's best selling book: The Power of Intentions. I warn you I get a wee bit emotional in this segment, simply because it is so powerful to me. Embracing these simple two words, 'be kind' on a daily basis has made me feel so different. Because I now practice this I find myself responding very differently to things that challenge me. And the result in return is very different than it used to be. I could do several shows on this one subject. There are just so many incredible examples of how you personally can demonstrate kindness, every day, if you choose to. And if you do, you will make such a difference in your life and those lives that you touch. I highly recommend you get this book, even if you only focus on this one segment, you will never be the same if you put this into practice. And neither will your world. You will attract amazing people into your life...I have and I am so grateful. You can find the book on my resource page at www.TheGailFoleyShow.com or go directly to Amazon! Either way, you'll love this book. The CD does not do this book justice, you have to read it and Dr. Dyer even tells you the best way to get the most of his book...truly priceless to me.

She is a fabulous, loving, caring, attentive nurse at the age of 28. Everyone adores her, especially me. But today's episode is about someone else's generous and giving nature. Yesterday after I posted my show, I visited FaceBook and saw a personal message for me. It was Robert Labdez letting me know he had given me a shout out on his show and if I'd like to listen to it, here's the link! Well, of course, I immediately opened up the link and was treated not only to a great endorsement for my show, but an excellent story about going from being a "Victim to Victor". He is an amazing host of his own show called, 'Every Day Freedom' patterned after our coach and mentor, Sam Crowley of 'Every Day Is Saturday' brand. And I am now following him and you might like to do the same, as well as follow me, too. So my thank you to Robert was not only for giving me this great shout out, but for also waking me up to the fact that I wasn't exactly 'walking my talk' right now about connecting. I was so overly focused on my mission to make this a great podcast show, I completely blinded myself to connecting people, to share my passion! Hello! Interactive engagement is required here. So listen in while I talk about my wake up call and please, no April Fool's jokes, I am super cautious on this day, because my youngest daughter, ALWAYS finds a way to get me! Not this year, I'm watching! Have a great day and be a wee bit leary...just saying.

What in the world does that mean? Well, it means we often find ourselves embracing the familiar, even if it's painful...because sometimes familiar is more comforting than being unsettled with a change. I speak from first hand experience having been in pain for 7 years and then when I found a remedy to free me from that pain, ironically, I found myself missing it. This totally freaked me out. How in the world could I possibly miss being in pain! Duh, it didn't make sense to me... And pain from depression is a similar 'friend' that attaches itself to you and although part of you wants out of the pain and debilitation of depression, it's far cozier in the world of familiar than trying to fight our way back. But I'm here to tell you that if you want to live life to the fullest and you make the decision to fight through your darkness of depression and pain, wherever it is coming from...be ready to release 'your friend', your long time companion and know this new feeling is a better friend and will encourage you to stay strong. Please share this life lesson with someone you care about. Hearing someone else's story has inspired me many times and maybe, just maybe someone you know needs to hear mine. And thank you, from the bottom of my heart for listening, today!

I'm at pretty sure if you are listening in to this show that you've already been introduced to the famous Thomas Edison quote on failure..."I have not failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Don't you find it refreshing to hear failure framed in that way? I truly believe life is all about perspective and if you take every 'adventure or detour' and try to find that silver lining, you just might find it. I share with you on the show today how that happened most recently for me, just last year. I embarked on a learning journey that became my determination and my focus. I wasn't struggling, but I really wasn't feeling very successful. But I was determined to conquer this mountain and become an expert that would thrive! Well, that's not exactly how things turned out. Has that ever happened for you? You think this is the right path and when you learn you did not reach the top of success mountain you feel like a failure? I think most of us have had that feeling, but I find when I look at what I learned from that experience, that's exactly what it was an 'experience'. The experience that I learned something from if nothing more than 'man, that just wasn't my thing' was a better way to understand what just happened than conclude you've failed. It took me a few years to find a true passion again, but because I've been blessed with a few different passionate careers, I knew I just needed to keep 'experimenting' until I found it and I did...and thank you for listening to my new passion.

And with that in mind I have to give a big shout out to WSU Shockers who had an undefeated season and only lost their position by 2 points yesterday! I enjoyed watching their connection, their fun and their dedication to each other while playing. I know the stress must have been tremendous as they went out on the court, EVERY time, but it was a joy to watch this local team. My hubby's school and many people we know call them their home team! Lots of Gold and Black worn for month's now... But there's another component, not so much fun and most stressful and that's gathering all your tax information and doing your filing for 2013. I learned again how hard it is to itemize charity donations and was just about to say forget it until I learned more about what Goodwill Industries does with all of our discarded items. Listen, you'll be surprised. And last, but not least, all this wraps up to how you are connecting in your business and building true relationships, not just occasional business card passing acquaintances! I encourage you to join a buisness organization and then become active in connecting and participating...you will enrich your life and touch others while you're doing it!

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 24, 2014 20:40

I know that's a loaded question and it comes into play in our success ratio both personally and professionally...unfortunately. Because if you are always watching who you consider to be your 'competition' how can you grow significantly in your business. I know from first hand experience how watching other people instead of minding your own business can destroy your peace of mind, stress you out and make you a miserable person to be around. A few years ago I almost had a melt down when someone I really disliked became my 'competition' in my mind...until I learned that there is 'enough for everyone'. Abundance is a blessing we all can have, if we focus on doing our best and not what someone else may or may not be doing. Oddly enough, when I play sports, I love the feeling I get when I get a great shot in or dove for the ball and caught it - but those are the memories I cherish, not the win or lose. But in the business world and the contests that companies use as an incentive to grow...well, they want more wins and do reward you for them, but at what cost to you? So I, from having been there done that, suggest maybe to start minding your own business and put the blinders on to focus on your outcome more...you'll find and embrace your own abundance with a smile on your face and the weight off your shoulders.
