A __________________ is someone who gives their life to a __________________ cause.[Exodus 1:15-17] Then Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, gave this order to the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah: [16] "When you help the Hebrew women as they give birth, watch as they deliver. If the baby is a boy, kill him; if it is a girl, let her live." [17] But because the midwives feared God, they refused to obey the king's orders. [1 Samuel 17:8-11] Goliath stood and shouted a taunt across to the Israelites. “Why are you all coming out to fight?” he called. “I am the Philistine champion, but you are only the servants of Saul. Choose one man to come down here and fight me! [9] If he kills me, then we will be your slaves. But if I kill him, you will be our slaves! [10] I defy the armies of Israel today! Send me a man who will fight me!” [11] When Saul and the Israelites heard this, they were terrified and deeply shaken. [I Samuel 17:32:37] “Don't worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I'll go fight him!” [33] “Don't be ridiculous!” Saul replied. “There's no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You're only a boy, and he's been a man of war since his youth.” [34] But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father's sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, [35] I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. [36] I have done this to both lions and bears, and I'll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! [37] The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the Lord be with you!” You can't decide all the ___________ in your life but you can decide your _____________. [1 Samuel 17:41-44] Goliath walked out toward David with his shield bearer ahead of him, [42] sneering in contempt at this ruddy-faced boy. [2 Chronicles 5:11-14 NKJV] And it came to pass when the priests came out of the [Most] Holy [Place] (for all the priests who [were] present had sanctified themselves, without keeping to their divisions), [12] and the Levites [who were] the singers, all those of Asaph and Heman and Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, stood at the east end of the altar, clothed in white linen, having cymbals, stringed instruments and harps, and with them one hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets-- [13] indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers [were] as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, [saying]: "[For He is] good, For His mercy [endures] forever," that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, [14] so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.A ____________________ mentality is not the problem. It's a symptom of the real problem: _______________ from truth.[Matthew 11:27-29 NKJV] "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and [the one] to whom the Son wills to reveal [Him]. [28] "Come to Me, all [you] who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [14] For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, [15] while it is said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion." [4:8] For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. [9] There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.The Promised Land of “Rest” is not a ___________ or a ___________, it's a ___________.[Exodus 20:18-21 NKJV] [Hebrews 10:11-14 NKJV] And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. [12] But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, [13] from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. [14] For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.Jesus took our ___________ in the sacrifice so we could ___________ ___________ in His place of rest.[Hebrews 4:11-13 NKJV] Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. Mind game: a psychological tactic used to ___________ or _______________. The devil will attack us with ___________. When doubt comes it can ________________ our faith or ________________ our faith. [John 1:29-30] The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! [30] He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘A man is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.' John is the first one to _____________ that Jesus is the Messiah. [Matthew 11:2-3] John the Baptist, who was in prison, heard about all the things the Messiah was doing. So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus, 3 “Are you the Messiah we've been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?” Even people with strong faith ask __________ _______________ in stressful times. [Matthew 11:4-11] Jesus told them, “Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen— [5] the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.” [6] And he added, “God blesses those who do not fall away because of me.” [7] As John's disciples were leaving, Jesus began talking about him to the crowds. “What kind of man did you go into the wilderness to see? Was he a weak reed, swayed by every breath of wind? [8] Or were you expecting to see a man 'dressed in expensive clothes? No, people with expensive clothes live in palaces. [9] Were you looking for a prophet? Yes, and he is more than a prophet. [10] John is the man to whom the Scriptures refer when they say, ‘Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, and he will prepare your way before you.' [11] “I tell you the truth, of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least person in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he is! John had doubts, but instead of ________________ on them, he ___________________ them. [James 1:5-8] Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him. [6] But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. [7] That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord, [8] being double-minded and unstable in all his ways. Doubt HAPPENS. Doubt causes us to focus on what we ___________ do rather than on what God __________ do. Doubt should drive us to seek ______________. [Luke 11:9-10] “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. [10] For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

A ____________ is created by something uncomfortable. Every ______________ in our life is designed to become a pearl. [James 1:2-4] Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. [3] For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. [4] So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. Your irritation wasn't designed to _______________ you but to help you ______________. God is shaping you because you are _____________ to Him. [Romans 8:17-18] And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God's glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. [18] Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. If you are praying for a situation and God isn't ___________ it, it's a sign that God is _______________ on you. [Isaiah 48:10] I have refined you, but not as silver is refined. Rather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering. God isn't as interested in changing my _________________ as He is changing _________. God may never remove the irritation but you can _________ to a point that it won't __________________ you anymore. [1 Peter 4:12-13] Dear friends, don't be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. [13] Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world. God loves you too much to ____________ you how you are. [James 1:12] God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. We can trust God in _______________ circumstance. [Matthew 1:18-19] This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. [19] Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. God's plan always takes ________________ over our plans. Faith is trusting God's plan even when we don't __________________ it. [Matthew 1:20-21] As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. "Joseph, son of David," the angel said, "do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. [21] And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." God's interruptions are actually His __________________ to something greater. [Matthew 1:24] When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. Courage is _______________ God even when the path is __________________. [Philippians 2:3-4] Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. [4] Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. God blesses those who walk in _________________. [Matthew 2:13-15] After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother," the angel said. "Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." [14] That night Joseph left for Egypt with the child and Mary, his mother, [15] and they stayed there until Herod's death. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: "I called my Son out of Egypt." Our _______________ must be demonstrated with our _______________.

[Joshua 2:1] Then Joshua secretly sent out two spies from the Israelite camp at Acacia Grove. He instructed them, “Scout out the land on the other side of the Jordan River, especially around Jericho.” So the two men set out and came to the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there that night. [Joshua 2:8-13] Before the spies went to sleep that night, Rahab went up on the roof to talk with them. [9] “I know the Lord has given you this land,” she told them. “We are all afraid of you. Everyone in the land is living in terror. [10] For we have heard how the Lord made a dry path for you through the Red Sea when you left Egypt. And we know what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River, whose people you completely destroyed. [11] No wonder our hearts have melted in fear! No one has the courage to fight after hearing such things. For the Lord your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below. [12] “Now swear to me by the Lord that you will be kind to me and my family since I have helped you. Give me some guarantee that [13] when Jericho is conquered, you will let me live, along with my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all their families.” Rahab was a prostitute who was willing to take a ____________ for the people of God. Kind (Hebrew: Chesed): Covenant-love. An obligation to _______. An agreement God made with His people to love & ______________ them. [Joshua 2:15-18] Then, since Rahab's house was built into the town wall, she let them down by a rope through the window. [16] “Escape to the hill country,” she told them. “Hide there for three days from the men searching for you. Then, when they have returned, you can go on your way.” [17] Before they left, the men told her, “We will be bound by the oath we have taken only if you follow these instructions. [18] When we come into the land, you must leave this scarlet rope hanging from the window through which you let us down. And all your family members—your father, mother, brothers, and all your relatives—must be here inside the house. It takes faith to believe something when the probability is ____________ it. [James 2:14] What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don't show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Faith is demonstrated by your ________ not your ______________. [James 2:25-26] Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road. [26] Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works. When you __________, you demonstrate faith. And when you demonstrate faith, you see ___________ move. [Joshua 6:22-25] Meanwhile, Joshua said to the two spies, “Keep your promise. Go to the prostitute's house and bring her out, along with all her family.” [23] The men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, mother, brothers, and all the other relatives who were with her. They moved her whole family to a safe place near the camp of Israel. [24] Then the Israelites burned the town and everything in it. Only the things made from silver, gold, bronze, or iron were kept for the treasury of the Lord's house. [25] So Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute and her relatives who were with her in the house, because she had hidden the spies Joshua sent to Jericho. And she lives among the Israelites to this day. No matter how bad your ______________ was it doesn't have to control __________________ if you make the right decision ___________. [Matthew 1:5-6] Salmon was the father of Boaz (whose mother was Rahab). Boaz was the father of Obed (whose mother was Ruth). Obed was the father of Jesse. [6] Jesse was the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon (whose mother was Bathsheba, the widow of Uriah). In God's Kingdom the ____________ of sinners is just as welcome as the _________ of saints.

[Matthew 2:1-2] Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, [2] "Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him."  God will ______________ us when we ______________ Him. [Daniel 2:10-11] The astrologers replied to the king, "No one on earth can tell the king his dream! And no king, however great and powerful, has ever asked such a thing of any magician, enchanter, or astrologer! [11] The king's demand is impossible. No one except the gods can tell you your dream, and they do not live here among people." [Daniel 9:25-26] Now listen and understand! Seven sets of seven plus sixty-two sets of seven will pass from the time the command is given to rebuild Jerusalem until a ruler--the Anointed One--comes. Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and strong defenses, despite the perilous times. [26] "After this period of sixty-two sets of seven, the Anointed One will be killed, appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple. The end will come with a flood, and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end. The stars __________________ to declare the birth of Jesus. Faith starts with seeking God in every __________________. [Matthew 2:3; 7-8] King Herod was deeply disturbed when he heard this, as was everyone in Jerusalem. [7] Then Herod called for a private meeting with the wise men, and he learned from them the time when the star first appeared. [8] Then he told them, "Go to Bethlehem and search carefully for the child. And when you find him, come back and tell me so that I can go and worship him, too!" A new King was born who would reign __________________. [Matthew 2:9-12] After this interview the wise men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. [10] When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! [11] They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. [12] When it was time to leave, they returned to their own country by another route, for God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod. Worship gives God our ______________.

Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.” [5] So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. [Mark 5:21-24] Jesus got into the boat again and went back to the other side of the lake, where a large crowd gathered around him on the shore. [22] Then a leader of the local synagogue, whose name was Jairus, arrived. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet, [23] pleading fervently with him. “My little daughter is dying,” he said. “Please come and lay your hands on her; heal her so she can live.” [24] Jesus went with him, and all the people followed, crowding around him. Jesus was, and is, about doing His Father's _______________. (Luke 2:49) [Mark 5:25-26] A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. [26] She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse. We all have _____________, that if not addressed, keep us out of relationships with __________, _____________, and _____________. [Mark 5:27-29] She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. [28] For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed." [29] Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition. Faith requires that we show it in _________ _____________. (James 2:14) [Mark 5:30-32] Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?” [31] His disciples said to him, “Look at this crowd pressing around you. How can you ask, ‘Who touched me?'” [32] But he kept on looking around to see who had done it. The large crowd pressed Jesus from all sides, but only this _______ _______________ _______________ was healed. [Daniel 6:1-3] Darius the Mede decided to divide the kingdom into 120 provinces, and he appointed a high officer to rule over each province. [2] The king also chose Daniel and two others as administrators to supervise the high officers and protect the king's interests. [3] Daniel soon proved himself more capable than all the other administrators and high officers. Because of Daniel's great ability, the king made plans to place him over the entire empire. Gratitude is an act of rebellion against ______________. [Daniel 6:10-12] But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. [11] Then the officials went together to Daniel's house and found him praying and asking for God's help.  Faithfulness in ______________ ______________ builds unshakable faith. [Daniel 2:23a] I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. We need to ______________ and ______________ for the difficult times. Prayer should be a daily ___________________, not a ______________ reaction. [Daniel 6:16-22] So at last the king gave orders for Daniel to be arrested and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to him, "May your God, whom you serve so faithfully, rescue you." [17] A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den. The king sealed the stone with his own royal seal and the seals of his nobles, so that no one could rescue Daniel. [18] Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night fasting. He refused his usual entertainment and couldn't sleep at all that night. [19] Very early the next morning, the king got up and hurried out to the lions' den. [20] When he got there, he called out in anguish, "Daniel, servant of the living God! Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue you from the lions?" [21] Daniel answered, "Long live the king! [22] My God sent his angel to shut the lions' mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty." Gratitude is a form of ___________________, faith. [1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV] give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Give thanks even when life is ___________________,.
