Jordan and Zac have finally convinced Kevin to play Untitled Goose Game and they all sit down to talk (and laugh) about it. They cover all of their favorite antics that the player can take part in as the goose wreaks havoc through this small “Sim-like” neighborhood. Zac makes a case for why this is a game that EVERYONE should at least try, and how it's the perfect length for what it is. If you know what you're doing, you could even finish it in the time it takes to listen to this podcast, but we recommend not ignoring the faultless sound design and music that adds so much character to this experience. There's another mischievous bird out there besides Woody Woodpecker causing just as much trouble. So watch out and thanks for listening.

Warmest of Welcomes everybody This month on the Mooglecast, Max and Zac share a one to one episode with no guest chair, no scripts, just a general chat about a variety of topics including trophy hunting burn out (R.I.P Gary), Dissidia NT 7 years later and series of games we overlooked in our lives. for the pre show we discuss the mystery of socialising aswell as usual run of the show, plat shout outs and a Tomb Raider focused entry of The Record. As Max over explains Tomb Raider has multiple era's that are suitable for retro and classic gamers and modern gamers Max and Zac both gush about GOTY contender Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and list some games that have completely been missed by them including Persona, Sly Cooper and The Evil Within. Lastly Zac has come up with a fun and mysterious new data-tastic way to tackle his backlog that compromises on finishing games and still earning some trophies, have the boys entered a new chapter in the trophy hunting meta game? Only one way to find out, as Aerosmith once said, 'Just Push Play'. Next month Colin and Zac will be taking the Mooglecast in an Xbox Direction but until then be excellent to eachother. Max

Trophy Talk Podcast - Episode 132: By Azura, by Azura by Azura!

Well hello there everybody, and welcome back to another exciting episode of Trophy Talk. This month we're back to basics with just Colin and Josh so grab a beer , settle in and join them in some long and winding discussions surrounding a cadre of gaming topics. As we do these shows on a monthly cadence now a lot can happen between episodes, and this was definitely the case over the last four week period. Not only did we have the major reveal of Bungie's new extraction shooter Marathon, but we were also greeted with a shadow drop of a beloved 360 era RPG Oblivion, a full state of play on Borderlands 4, and a new trailer and firmed in release date for Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei. It truly is a wonderful year to be a gamer, (price increases on hardware and software withstanding). So, as this is a lot of news, and a lot of potential trophy lists and Platinums to earn we naturally spend some time talking about all of these reveals. Perhaps most relevant to all of us though, is that Oblivion now has a Platinum trophy, and one that seemingly doesn't look to difficult to obtain. Oblivion Remaster boasts the kind of list that allows you to play the game how you want to, as any class, race or skill build and still be able to earn the Platinum. While some people may find this type of list to easy, Colin and Josh feel like it's right at home in the open world RPG genre. After our news related topics and discussions we of course jump in to what we've been playing. Josh waxes poetic about a few games on the Xbox side (with parody in PSN trophy lists) as well as continuing to defend his Brick Master title with The Lego Movie 2 Videogame. Colin continues his hiking journey across the post-apocalyptic United States in Death Stranding (and still absolutely loves it even after 60 hours), and dabbles back with an old classic in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. Lastly of course we have our Discord / Patreon write ins as well as our Platinum shout outs. We cover a good deal of topics in this episode with some really great conversation, even if we do go on tangents from time to time. Regardless, we hope that you all enjoy the episode. It was a blast to record as always. Thank you for listening, and take care.

Hello hello there everybody, and welcome back to another episode of Surviving the Horror. This month, Josh and Colin are joined by resident lore expert for all things Dead Space, Kevin from the PlayStation Plus Game Club! Kevin is a massive fan of the Dead Space series in general, and after recording the episode last July on Dead Space Remake, it didn't feel right to venture further into the series without his input. The result is that the three of us had an over three hour discussion, breaking down all the important details, subtle audio notes, and larger mechanical trends that are present in Dead Space 2. Dead Space 2 released in January 2011 as the highly anticipated follow up to Visceral's Dead Space. The game sees the continuation of Isaac Clarke's journey following the catastrophic tragedy aboard the Ishimura. From the very beginning of Dead Space 2, Isaac, as well as the player, are thrust into chaos and the unknown as another Necromorph outbreak has seemingly begun aboard The Sprawl, a massive station orbiting the once moon of Saturn, Titan. Due to the size and scope of The Sprawl compared with the Ishimura, everything in Dead Space 2 is cranked up to eleven. The mystery, the action, the set pieces, and indeed the lore are all expanded upon greatly. Just why is Isaac in a straight jacket upon waking up? What are the four steps to run "the machine" that your companion Stross keeps talking about? Can you truly trust anyone associated with Earth Gov. or The Church of Unitology? Only through quick wits, persistence, and a butt load of ammo will you get the answers. We truly hope that you enjoy this episode, and a special thank you to Kevin for being a part of the show! Next month on Surviving the Horror will be joined by none other than the GreenGorillaGamer to discuss the first entry in the FNAF series. It's going to be a wild ride. Until then take care everyone!

Warmest of welcomes everybody This month on the Mooglecast, Max and Zac are joined by Gary (TheSlyGCooper) for a half (maybe 1/4) failed attempt at a Mooglecast X PlatinumAchievements episode. For the preshow we discussed the streak of sickness over at the plattycheevs and spoke some more about game of the megacast showcase, Zacs Untitled Goose Game sequel. Of course we get into our usual run of the show with Platinum shoutouts and a Resident Evil focused entry of The Record. Although the recommendation was RE4 Remake, the crew had a variety of opinions on the best games to start with in the series. The meat & potatoes for the episode was centred on some of our favourite boss battles across all video games. Complete with a huge amount of audience write ins we had a chance to dive into the the fundimentals of a memorable boss fight and how its not just good combat design or appearance bit rather a collective of equal factors. From One Winged Angels to Dark Alien Kings, From Underworld warriors to OP Wrestlers. We each list 5 of our best and most memorable foes. Relive the nostalgia and frustration. We'll see you in May but until then. Be excellent to eachother. Max P.S We had multiple technical difficulties whilst recording this episode, luckily we caught them all very quickly but we apologise if the talkers full thoughts weren't spoken. Hello hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk! Please welcome back for his fourth appearance on the show Patthetrophyhunter. Pat is a long time community member, content creator, and friend of the show and we're always pleased when we get a chance to sit down and discuss trophies and games with him. For this particular episode we chose to discuss a few more nuanced topics that have been kicking around in our brains lately. With the most recent Nintendo Direct and the announcement of Switch 2 it seemed as good a time as any to have a discussion regarding game pricing, and the inevitable effects that inflation is having on our beloved industry. While we use Switch 2 as a jumping off point, we don't speak specifically about that console for long, rather we try and assess what we think the larger video game industry as a whole, and specifically Sony will do with the new information and pricing of Switch 2 games. From there Colin opens a discussion surrounding both Assassin's Creed and Lego games and their respective trophy hunts. With Pat and Josh being massive fans of both franchises it seemed only right to discuss what facets of these games make for compelling trophy hunts, and why both are such great trophy hunting experiences. We also take time in this episode to dig into Pat's newest gaming related hobby, collecting. How does Pat decide which stores or sales to frequent and which lots to buy? Are there specific titles he's looking for more than any others? How does collecting factor into trophy hunting? The topic is a pretty beefy one in the episode and we hope that you find it as interesting to listen to as we did during recording. Lastly we of course touch on the games we've been playing and Platinum's we've earned for the month of March before looking ahead to what April holds. With so many great AAA titles looming just weeks away, is it finally time to say that 2025 being the year of the backlog is done? All of the aforementioned topics plus Platinum Shout Outs, and everything else you've come to expect from Trophy Talk Podcast is right behind the play button. Thank you so much for listening, we hope that you enjoy the episode. Happy Hunting!

For this special 5th Sunday of the month all five of us got together for a special Megacast episode (term coined by Josh) where we make up our own dream Sony showcase. We bring to it some of our dream game ideas for rebooting a number of dead game IPs. Along with us you can imagine what it would be like to see Sony host a blockbuster game showcase on stage like they used to in years past. Many of these might seem like lofty ideas, but this is the showcase of our dreams after all. Over the two and a half hours you'll hear just some of our ideas come out. Colin takes a beloved IP into an unexpected genre. Josh shocks us with one of the funniest sequels to a favorite series to someone out there (probably). Max points out a few obvious holes in Sony's current repertoire. Kevin shows that he may be watching a little too much Critical Role. Zac catches us off-guard with a possible horror game that takes a turn we weren't expecting. And much, much more. We hope you enjoy this episode, and if you do please jump into our Discord and let us know, because we only had time for some of our ideas and this kind of special Megacast could happen again if enough people like the concept. And SIE, we hope you're listening too.

Surviving the Horror - Episode 11: Resident Evil: Code Veronica X

Hello there everyone! Welcome back to Surviving the Horror. In this month's episode, Josh and Colin are delving back into the world of Resident Evil with the community voted game of Resident Evil: Code Veronica X. Originally meant to be the true sequel and follow up to Resident Evil 2, Code Veronica later became a non-numbered title due to development time and another project moving more quickly (this project would later become Resident Evil 3: Nemesis). Code Veronica follows the story of Claire Redfield, still searching for her brother Chris following the events of Resident Evil 2. Her journeys take her to the Umbrella labs in Paris, to Rockfort Island, and even to Antarctica, battling vicious BOWs, solving elaborate puzzles, and uncovering shocking truths about the founding of Umbrella and the storied and tragic family of the Ashfords. Claire's story is full of all the fantastic things that we've come to expect from the Resident Evil franchise, including tank controls of course, but it wasn't until this playthrough that both Colin and Josh realized how much of the later games were set up and based on interactions between characters that occur here in Code Veronica X. This is truly an underrated and underplayed game in the Resident Evil franchise that we think is well worth your time and effort. Initially released on the Sega Dreamcast in 2001, Code Veronica later received ports for both the PS2 and the GameCube. The version that both Josh and Colin are playing is a port of the PS2 version, played through the PS5, and while the version might have some technical inferiority when compared with the Xbox 360 port of the game, that doesn't stop the boys from having a blast and gushing about the detail and lore that this title provides. Thank you so much for listening and we'll see you next month when we talk about Dead Space 2!

Unfortunately they didn't plan a return trip for us, so it's up to the player to find a way home while exploring and cataloging everything on the planet. It's still nice though that Kindred sent us a lot of entertaining commercials for us to watch. We share stories about our favorite animals and antics while exploring, reminisce about the few times we tried to squad up together, and talk about our successes in speedrunning this hilarious game. Zac and I also both point out that we view this game through different histories and recognize different inspirations that went into it. This week Josh and Colin and joined by none other than Skrilus, hot off of his recent acquisition of the Devil May Cry platinum, to discuss all things trophies, statistics, and PlayStation. We start off the show talking about the recent news surrounding WB Games and the closure of three of their primary studios including Monolith. What does this mean for the future of the IP under the WB banner and do we think the closures were justified? From there we move in to Platinum shout outs pulled from our Discord community before jumping into a whole slew of questions. How do we feel about our current backlog for 2025? Is there one particular game that we already have the platinum in that we want to go back for the DLC and 100%? What are our thoughts on Shuhei Yoshida's departure from PlayStation and Sony? All of these questions fill up a good chunk of time and discussion. Additionally, the crew takes a stab at (with no research) compiling the list of the top 6 most difficult games to Platinum. As you can imagine, there are some familiar names there but some of the nominees might surprise you! Lastly we get into what we've been playing across the month of February. Skrilus goes into more detail on his journey to conquer Devil May Cry, and just what bosses and strategies ended up making the difference for him. Josh earns a staggering 13 Platinum trophies across the month but focuses primarily on Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and Pacific Drive, and Colin finally completes Star Wars: Outlaws before jumping into another boomer shooter classic in TimeSplitters. Hello one and all, and welcome back to another episode of Surviving the Horror. In this month's episode, Colin and Josh sit down to discuss yet another indie horror game from a two person development team. There seems to be something in the special sauce that shines with this combination. Fear the Spotlight marks the third game we've done for this show developed by a two person team, and inspired by the aesthetic and horror games of the PS1 generation. We've covered Crow Country, Signalis, and now Fear the Spotlight, all of which highlight the passion and effort that goes into the creative process with indie titles, and how when done correctly the results truly shine. We start off this episode, as we always do by providing a bit of development history for the game as well as some context behind the publisher and development team. Fear the Spotlight was the first effort of Blumhouse Games Publishing, a studio and brand that formerly had a great deal of success in the horror movie space. Blumhouse saw something special with Fear the Spotlight and offered the development duo Cozy Game Pals more time and resources to flesh out their original idea, and boy are we glad they did. With the help of Blumhouse Cozy Game Pals added a full second chapter to Fear the Spotlight and was able to bring the game over to consoles in addition to its PC release. Fear the Spotlight is the tale of Vivian Singh and Amy Tanaka, following them as they break in to their high school and participate in a séance gone wrong. Heavily inspired by things like Goosebumps, and Fatal Frame, Fear the Spotlight aims to be an approachable entry point for horror enthusiasts, and those new the genre. Josh and Colin think that in this regard, the game truly succeeds. We hope that you enjoy this episode and deep dive, thank you for listening and take care!

Hello everybody! Welcome back to another exciting episode of Trophy Talk! In this episode, Josh and Colin break down the news and game release information from Xbox's most recent Developer Direct, as well as other news of Forza Horizon 5 coming to PS5. What does this mean for your trophy statistics and backlog? Well, namely there's a shit ton of trophies coming our way. If games from Xbox Studios are any indication, the coming titles like Forza and even Master Chief Collection will keep their exact same trophy lists / achievements lists. On the one hand that's great, you have many many many trophies to potentially earn. At the same time this thinking is a bit sloppy. Trophy lists were never and are never designed in this same way on the PlayStation side. The end result is something like MCC which contains 700 achievements potentially coming over to PS5. Is that really what we want? Or is there a better middle ground where games are brought over with trophy lists designed in a thoughtful way. On top of all that we of course have platinum shout outs and rage gods shout outs brought to you from our Discord! Josh takes the reigns with hosting this episode and does a fantastic job highlighting the smaller and more obscure titles that our community has been chasing Platinums in. Finally, listener inquiries and what we've been playing round out the show. Josh has been chasing his dream of becoming the new drummer for a rock group in his recent VR adventures, as well as chancing survival in multiple games with exclusion zones, (Pacific Drive, and Stalker). Colin continues his incredibly long grind with Resident Evil: Revelations, as well as chats Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, and his first 20 hours or so with Star Wars: Outlaws. Thank you so so much for listening to the episode, we hope that you enjoy!

Surviving the Horror - Episode 9: Signalis

Most of the time in the survival horror genre, we're dealing with the supernatural. We're dealing with normal everyday humans trying to explain and deal with being presented a very non-normal problem such as zombies, vampires, or monsters. But it's rare in the genre to have a game that focuses just as much on these supernatural elements, as it does on the larger philosophical questions of existence, sentience, memory, and love. In fact, I can think of only one other major example we've played for this show that even comes close, that being Silent Hill 2 Remake. You can imagine the surprise, and the joy then that Josh and I (Colin) felt when we started digging into Signalis. Signalis , released in October of 2022 and developed by the two person team of Rose Engine, is an ethereal and haunting journey through the psyche of a Replika unit named Elster. Touching on questions posed in movies like Blade Runner, and I am Robot, Signalis follows the story of one machine, implanted with human memories who tries to make sense of the world she finds herself in, full of horrors and monstrosities, all the while pushing to fulfill a promise she made to a human companion. Signalis is the journey of Elster and the player through labyrinths of mining colonies, into the dreamlike landscapes of Nowhere and eventually through the inner workings of the mind. Packed with stunning pixelated graphics, a mesmerizing soundtrack, and Lynchian dreamy first person sequences, Signalis does not disappoint. It is one of those games that will have you questioning if you truly understood what was happening all the way up until the very end. Josh and I do our best to expound on the story, the themes, the literary influences, and of course the core mechanics of Signalis in this episode. Having said that a game like this can be tough to talk about, with individual interpretations varying wildly. We hope that by listening you find something new to think about with this game that you hadn't considered before. And if you haven't played Signalis, we hope that you do, and then come back and listen. Happy Gaming, and take care!

If you haven't heard our announcement episode / dispatch from a week or so ago, there are lots of fun and exciting changes in 2025 for Trophy Talk and the other shows under the Trophy Talk Network. One of the not so fun things, in fact very bittersweet things though is that this episode is Darryl's last episode as a co-host of Trophy Talk. With life changing events on the way for him (which he goes in to this episode) he felt that it was the right time for him to ride away into the sunset. Fear not though, Darryl will still be in the community and we hope to have him on as a guest whenever he feels up to it! Colin, eager to game after being away from his console for a few weeks continues his grinds in Resident Evil: Revelations, and Black Ops 6 but also takes a much needed trip to Constantinople / Istanbul in Assassin's Creed: Revelations. For the pre show we discussed the differences between christmas in the typical media sense vs christmas in New Zealand. Which would you prefer? Christmas BBQs on the beach or Mini christmas in July? These are normal things in this corner of the earth. We hope you enjoy the rawdog nature of this episode and we'll see you soon! Be excellent to each other this holiday season! Max

Well hello there everyone and welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk. In this our second to last episode of 2024, the crew has all assembled together to chat about the games that have been grabbing our attention during the final weeks of the calendar year. And what an exciting end of year it's turning out to be with the game awards announcements, PSN Wrap Ups, and new games still releasing at a steady clip. 2024 will undoubtedly go down as a great year in gaming for many of us. However, while we were intending to talk about our official PS wrap ups during this episode, at the time of recording the roll out of the year in review feature was experiencing significant delays and issues, with most people unable to actually access it as intended on December 10th. The end result is that most of this episode is spent discussing Patreon submitted questions, plat shout outs, and Rage God mentions from our Discord. There's nothing wrong with that though, not in the least, as celebrating this community that we've built and the accomplishments that you all have had is one of the best parts about making Trophy Talk episodes. Topics include, what would change in our trophy hunting habits if we got banned from PSN Profiles, what game we think Trump would be an excellent commentator of, and what movie released this year would have had a great opportunity for a tie in AA game. In terms of our individual hunts and successes, Darryl talks up and praises his time on PS Extra this year with two more titles, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, and Killer Frequency. All the while, Josh continues his vole exterminations while also taking time to become incredibly proficient at a tough rhythm game Spin Rhythm XD. Finally, Colin takes some time to discuss one of his favorite ever GameCube era games in Time Splitters 2. We hope that you all enjoy the content and the episode, thank you for listening!

Warmest of Welcomes everybody. As promised DLC Pack episode 6 welcomes the return of SluggerJD aka Josh, where we continue our PS+ Premium Classics Wishlist, this time focusing on the PS2 and what better time to be focusing on this console after Sony recently raised a middle finger to Nintendo and moved the goal post with 160 million PS2 confirmed to have been sold, a fantastic achievement. This time myself (Max) and Josh shortened our lists and named 10 games with 5 honourable mentions, but on an ultra rare occasion decided to open the flood gates and invited all TrophyTalk Podcast discord community members whether patrons or not to write in with PS2 games they'd like to see added to the service, and within the 18 hour window for submissions you guys came through with some great picks bringing us up to around 60 games mentioned. So thank you guys for your submissions. We hope you enjoy this one, please keep an eye out for the announcement as mentioned in the episode, until then I'll be back next month with ThePortlandKevin of the Playstation Plus Game Club to talk about our memories of the Nintendo 64. Until then enjoy the show and be excellent to eachother. Max

Hello one and all and welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk! As has become somewhat of a tradition in these parts, Josh, Colin and Darryl gather during this episode to provide their definitive ranking for their favorite trophy hunts of 2024! Each member of the crew brought an honorable mention, a bronze award, a silver award, a gold award and a platinum meaning all in all, we talk about 15 games here! That's a ton of games to go over, and you'll be happy and delighted to hear that we actually don't have as much overlap on titles as you might initially think! Before all that though we talk about Josh's new job as an exterminator of Voles as the critters have declared all out war on his house. Even though it's necessary to defend ones home from invaders, it doesn't mean it feels good to do so. From there we also touch on Patron submitted questions including some of our Thanksgiving and holiday favorites, as well as rage about the seemingly never ending stories of stick drift with the Duel Sense controllers. We sincerely hope that you enjoy this episode, and that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving if you observe it. We'll see you soon and happy gaming!

On July 1st 1999, Capcom and Shinji Mikami released their follow up to the wildly successful Resident Evil (Biohazard). Building on the technology, and using fixed camera angles and tank controls once again, Dino Crisis would be described as an evolution of the formula, and "Panic Horror" instead of "Survival Horror." Dino Crisis follows Regina, a special member of the S.O.R.T team, along with her companions Gail, Rick, Cooper, and Tom (poor Tom), as they attempt to infiltrate a government research facility on Ibis island and extract Dr. Kirk and his research into "Third Energy Development." This "Third Energy" technology could be the source of unlimited and free power that the world desperately needs. However, in the wrong hands the technology can also be weaponized and used by global super powers to exert their influence on the world. As Regina and her team arrive at Ibis Island, it quickly becomes apparent that something is wrong at the facility. Researchers and staff are no where to be seen, at least alive anyway. It appears that someone, or something is roaming the island and killing the scientists in gruesome ways. Just what is hunting these people down, where is Dr. Kirk, and will Regina and her team make it out alive? In many ways Dino Crisis attempts to take what made Resident Evil successful and iterate on it, adding in true 3D backgrounds and environments, and updated crafting system, decision trees for key story moments, and smarter more brutal enemy AI. Largely these efforts were successful, and while Dino Crisis never reached the popularity and heights of Resident Evil, it still garnered its own cult following to this day. Come along with Josh, Max, and Colin as they try to survive Ibis Island in Episode 8 of Surviving the Horror. We hope you all enjoy the episode! PSA: This game was played through the PS5 PS Premium Collection and as such rewind and quick save state features were available to us during our playthroughs.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk! In our second episode of November the crew is here to chat all about what we've been playing and spending our time in. As you can see from the episode title though, we take a good deal of time in this episode discussing the notion that time is indeed a resource, and our scarcest one at that! With so many great games out, and coming out, just how exactly does anyone play all the things they want to play. With our normal jobs, friends, and family obligations all vying for this same resource of time, it gets tough to juggle. It's a good problem to have though and all of us here on the show take some time to reflect on that fact. Our Patreon submitted questions this week take us down memory lane a bit as we discuss what really got us in to trophy hunting, and what we both like and dislike about the hobby. This of course isn't a new topic for us here on the show but it's a good one to revisit once a year or so as thoughts on the hobby can morph and change over time. Additionally, we chat about what types of trophies make us feel the most satisfaction upon earning them in our hunts! As far as what we've been playing, Darryl has managed to make his way through the brutal 2D metroidvania game of Blasphemous and has great things to say about it. Josh and Colin continue their journey in Black Ops 6 with some updates on the mp and zombies while pausing to play a surprisingly good and addicting Pokémon TCGP. And lastly, Josh discusses a surprise hit in the politically driven narrative game of Road 96 (and it's prequel). Needless to say the boys have been very busy indeed. Thank you for listening, and we hope that you enjoy the episode!

Warmest of Welcomes everybody. This month on DLC pack we're ''celebrating'' the 4th birthday of the PS5 and whilst the system has been the better selling console of the generation, the system and Sony themselves have been met with a lot of criticism by the user base. Like parents with dangerously high expectations of their children that only want to be loved, we thought it best to further criticize our pride & joy on its 4th birthday and talk about how we feel the PS5 can improve... Happy Birthday PlayStation 5. In the chairs this episode are of course myself (Max), along with the big man himself Colin (CKpresent), and a newish face around the discord Kade (TheGreenGorillaGamer). A dynamic power trio to say the least, I've been part of the PlayStation ecosystem since the PS1, Colin from the 360 and transitioned to PS4, whilst interestingly enough Kade had an extremely limited exposure to gaming until only a few years ago which gave us an entirely new and interesting perspective on Sony's growing trend of PS4 to PS5 Remasters. Also in this near 2hr 15min episode we discuss our level thoughts on the generation thus far, Sony's live service initiative, PlayStation's vacant first person shooter spot and our thoughts on the arrival of the PlayStation 5 Pro. We hope you enjoy and I'll see you in December where I'll be reunited with Josh to pick up our PS2 premium classics Wishlist episode. Until then, be excellent to each other. Max

It's that time of year folks, where we start to take stock of how the year has been in terms of game releases, platinum trophies earned, and goals reached. At this time we also start to look forward, and begin to craft goals for the coming year, 2025. As trophy hunters none of us are strangers to the list, the spreadsheet that will dictate our exact play order of titles for coming weeks or months. But how many of us actually stick to those lists? This episode is all about examining this phenomenon as Josh, Colin, and Darryl look ahead to 2025. What are the crews specific gaming goals for the next year? Are there specific titles that have sat in the backlog for far too long and need to be tackled? Are we changing our approach to completion %? Is there a franchise that we want to focus most of our time and energy on? All of these are great questions, and great jumping off points before even considering what new releases in 2025 will do to those plans. Next year promises to deliver a slew of fantastic games with Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, Doom: The Dark Ages, GTA VI, Ghost of Yotei, and a rumored Resident Evil 9 to name a few. What do these new releases do to our plans for next year? Just how does the crew plan on tackling all of this? We do our best here to speculate, and to codify a game plan. As with all things though, these are subject to change as life will undoubtedly throw us curve balls, both in work, in relationships, and in gaming. We hope you enjoy this episode where we look ahead, at glimpses of the future. Thank you for listening!

Happy Halloween! It seemed only fitting that on this day, the culmination of Spooktober, we get together to discuss undoubtedly one of the best survival horror games in recent memory. Back in 2022 when Silent Hill 2 remake was first revealed to be in development from Bloober Team, the team behind things like The Medium, Layers of Fear, and Observer, the reveal was met with a great deal of skepticism. Would a team that had up until this point only made mid-tier horror experiences be able to truly encapsulate the greatness of the original Silent Hill 2 game? As time went on and more and more gameplay emerged however, it became clear that we had something special on our hands. The end result, releasing on October 8th 2024 not only met expectations of many fans but exceeded them. Akin to the Resident Evil remake released on GameCube in 2002, this remake of Silent Hill 2 expands on the original in almost every way while keeping the original tone and atmosphere of the game intact. The end result is a product that pays great respect to the original source material while completely modernizing the gameplay for the audience of today. Silent Hill 2 is the story of one man, James Sunderland, (voiced and mocapped beautifully here by Luke Roberts), and his journey to the small town of Silent Hill. Here James hopes to find a way to reconnect with his dead wife Mary who has mysteriously written him a letter asking him to look for her there. In this desolate and abandoned town, James encounters other people also called back to this place to search for answers, family, or even just peace. Silent Hill 2 is an examination of the psychology of grief, of trauma, and how we process information. While on the surface the game presents as a standard survival horror affair, there's so much there waiting to be analyzed and expanded upon. While Josh, Colin, and Skrilus do their best to touch on all of these elements and theorize on what some of the symbolism and encounters mean, we can only do so much. At the end of the day this is a game that deserves to be played by anyone who is a fan of not only survival horror but of stories that explore the human condition. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up, and after you've had a chance to play it, come back and give this a listen. We think you'll like what you play, and what you hear of course. Thanks very much for listening, and take care!

Hello there dear listeners! Welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk, and our first episode in October, aka Spooky Season! This is a favorite time of year for many of us in the community as it marks a time when we get to engage with horror media to a greater degree than normal. The nights are getting longer and the weather colder (except in California apparently), meaning it's time to cozy up with a good scary game and earn some trophies. As such, we felt it appropriate to review the trophy list for Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 Remake, coming out on October 9th. While initially many were skeptical of the game due to its first trailers and gameplay reveals, recent days have seen glowing review scores start to pour in for Silent Hill 2. After seeing these reviews and looking at this trophy list, it is admittedly hard not to get excited. The trophy hunt appears to be faithful to the original list from the HD version of Silent Hill 2 on PS3, while also getting rid of some elements of the original list that made it incredibly frustrating. Don't get us wrong, this list will likely be relatively tough, but that balance appears to be right and there's a speedrun trophy wahoo! With Surviving the Horror this month covering Silent Hill 2, this won't be the last you hear of the game in the coming weeks. That's not all we have in store for this episode though. Community member and long time listener ZacLre has created a fantastic spreadsheet of statistics from our Discord members and we're excited to share some of those findings with you all. Have you ever wondered just what the most platinumed game is among the community or who has the most platinum trophies in Call of Duty and Final Fantasy? Well we're here to tell you the answers to those questions, as well as many more fun facts about our communities cumulative trophies. ZacLre's spreadsheet is a fantastic resource for our community and we're very appreciative of his efforts in making it. Surrounding both of the aforementioned larger discussions, are plat shout outs, our favorite trophy earned in the last week, and a slew of Patreon questions for us to dig into. So sit down, grab a soda (and for Cthulhu's sake some ice), and enjoy the show.

On June 18th 2024, British game developer The Chinese Room released a horror game that hoped to combine elements of John Carpenter's "The Thing" with motifs found in movies like "Midsommar", and The Lighthouse. That's a pretty bold and ambitious plan to say the least! That game was Still Wakes the Deep. Described as a first person psychological horror game, Still Wakes the Deep sees the player take on the role of Caz McCleary an electrician aboard the Beira D oil rig in the North Sea in the year 1975. Haunted by decisions in his past, including a more recent violent altercation, and the loss of trust from his wife and partner Suze, Caz must navigate a crumbling infrastructure aboard the oil rig, a slew of electrical issues, and the cosmic horrors of the unknown on his journey back to his home and family. In a game filled with a cast of wonderfully realized characters, superb voice acting, and heavy themes, it is perhaps the lack of real mechanical depth in the game that leaves the most room to be desired. This is a game that asks many intriguing questions about psychology, grief, and body horror, it's just a shame that the ways it gives you in gameplay to explore those themes is surface level. All in all though, Josh and Colin had a wonderful time playing this game. It doesn't overstay its welcome, and respects your time. If you're looking for a game to play during the upcoming Spooky season that can accompany a longer game, this may be the one for you! Coming up next month on Surviving the Horror, Colin and Josh will be sinking their teeth into the newly released Silent Hill 2 Remake. We hope you'll join us then, and thank you for listening!

Hello hello dear listener, and welcome back to another exciting episode of Trophy Talk! In this episode Josh and Colin sit down to talk about what games they've been playing for the past few weeks, and let me tell you it's been quite productive for them both. As with most of the PlayStation community, much of the last two week period has been dominated by the release of Astro Bot, from Team Asobi. First revealed in late Spring of 2024 and releasing on September 9th worldwide, Astro Bot serves as a celebration of the past, present, and future of PlayStation. With delightful level design, rock solid platforming, and a slew of easter eggs and references, it's easy to see how Astro Bot has captured the hearts and imaginations of gamers in the PlayStation eco system. But how was it from a trophy hunting perspective? Well, in short, pretty damn awesome. Josh and Colin spend a good deal of time discussing this potential GoTY candidate and the experience of earning the Platinum. From there the two move on to talk about another surprise game this year in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2. While neither Josh or Colin know too much about the 40K universe, that doesn't really matter. Space Marine 2 is an example of the way games used to be made, with a campaign, PvE, and PvP modes on launch that all function and respect your time. The game is a blast, and well worth your consideration! Other topics in the show of course include Patreon submitted questions where we talk about our favorite traversal mechanics, a dead IP we'd like brought back, and a game mechanic we wish wasn't a thing in games. Additionally, we give a brief update on the TTP Survivor challenge in our Discord, say our favorite single trophy earned over the last two weeks, and shout out the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and Lollipop Chainsaw Repop releases. With Silent Hill 2 remake right around the corner as well, it's a good time to be a horror and horror media fan, that's for sure! Thanks so much for listening, and enjoy! =)

Welcome back lovers of all things spooky and scary, to another episode of Surviving the Horror! Released in March 2012 and developed by Slant 6 in just one year's time, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a much maligned and critiqued entry in the long standing survival horror franchise. Criticized for it's lack of polish, and disregard for the pillars of what makes up a classic Resident Evil title, Operation Raccoon City is certainly the black ship of the family. In fact, it seems that almost every time that Capcom tries to do something different in the multiplayer space with Resident Evil, the title is met with considerable challenges and fan feedback. Operation Raccoon City came from a different era of Capcom, one that hadn't seen the benefits of multiple successful titles released back to back as we've seen recently with the REmake treatments and things like Resident Evil Village. Indeed, as relayed by ORC's director Andrew Santos, Capcom was chasing a different crowd in 2012, the Call of Duty gamer. Releasing the same year as Resident Evil 6, Operation Raccoon City represented an attempt to tell a different kind of story in the Resident Evil universe, with new characters that could expand on the lore and events of the first few games. Was this attempt successful though? Well, that's a tough question to answer. Colin and Josh do their best to parse through the mechanics, story, design, and development of this misunderstood Resident Evil title. When considering the truncated development, and some of the clear love and attention to detail that went in to this title, perhaps some of the initial reactions and reviews were too harsh on the game. Come along with us on a journey through a chaotic warzone, littered with BOWs, waring political factions, and a sinister mega corporation hell bent on cleaning up any evidence of their involvement. It may not be the best Resident Evil title, but we think you'll have plenty of fun along the way. Thank you for listening, and enjoy! We will be back next month with September's game, Still Wakes the Deep!

Along with the Trophy Talk Survivor event going on in the Discord, it's been a very busy time for our community to say the least. Our opening discussions this episode center on the fact that we have finally gotten confirmation that Indiana Jones is coming to PS5 in the Spring of 2025, adding to the growing list of amazing looking titles coming out next year. What does this mean for what other games we could see coming? Excluding the obvious choices of Halo and Gears, what other titles would we hope make the jump to the PS5? From there we have our plat shout outs, and offerings to Cthulhu, our resident rage god. Great work as always by the whole community in your recent trophy hunts! Patreon questions this episode ask us to examine our favorite intros in games, and our favorite sound tracks while closely analyzing which specific trophies in lists make us say "Nah" when going for Platinums. Lastly, we get into what we've been playing. Colin returns once again to RE6 in his quest to Platinum all of the mainline RE games, Darryl contributes to this as well with his playthrough of RE Remake HD, and his continued adventures in Yakuza Kiwami. Josh rounds out the cast with a good discussion of his time with Concord so far, as well as a handful of PSVR2 titles! Is Concord doomed to fail? Does it deserve the apathy its been receiving lately? Perhaps not, but where does one find the time to fit in a game like Concord in a market with so many other titles vying for your time? Thanks so much for listening, and we hope you enjoy! Take care!

Indeed, although we haven't quite hit the craziness that will be the Fall of 2024 with its major releases nearly ever week, we still have some indie gems, and lesser known titles that are being consistently released for our enjoyment. As it turns out, and as has been the case with some of our other recent episodes, there's something so appealing about these smaller indie titles and the way they organize their trophy lists. The lists for this episode include, Nobody Wants to Die, Flock, and The Mortuary Assistant. We also dive into a few Patreon submitted questions, one of which asks if our fellow two co-hosts could earn what we dub as our hardest platinum trophies earned. This was a great question as it forced us to consider platinum trophies and games that might not be as hard statistically, but that could pose problems for our co-hosts specifically! Sitting in the UK, besieged by a police helicopter and 6 pints of beer, Max joins us to give his take on some of the more recent games he's been playing, the origins of the Rage God in our Discord, and his adventures in Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy! Darryl and Josh are also here of course to provide their insight on topics including what our current game of the year is before heading into a busy release schedule in the Fall, hot takes in gaming meant to ruffle some feathers, and weird rituals around the care and maintenance of our homes. On top of all of that we get into what we've been playing which is fact quite a lot! Max continues his massive journeys through the Tomb Raider Remastered Collection, and FF7 Rebirth. Josh gets his investigative hat on with Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter, Rise of the Ronin, and a return to FF16 for NG+ and the DLC. Darryl makes Colin a very proud man indeed by finally getting to Resident Evil Remake HD, as well as Death's Door. Colin brings up the rear with some quick and fun plats from the PS Classic Collection in Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3, and Daxter. We hope that you enjoy this episode, and thank you so much for listening! The next episode released on our feed will be Episode 4 of Surviving the Horror which will be releasing in a few days time. Take care and happy gaming!

Well hello there dear listener, and welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk! In episode 115 we have some more trophy lists to review for your consideration as well as all the normal run of the show including Patreon topics, and shout outs to our fantastic community members and the platinum's they've earned in the past two week period! The game's this episode run the gambit. First, Josh reviews the list for the upcoming Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, a game that appears to take a refreshing stance on some storied mechanics in Souls games. Strangely the price point for Flintlock is much lower than we would have imagined as well which points to this experience being shorter (which is a good thing). Next up Darryl reviews the first person narrative horror game Still Wakes the Deep, developed by The Chinese Room, a studio in Scotland... who would have guessed! The game looks great though, and being a first person narrative spin on horror, is one that's right up Darryl's alley. Lastly, Colin takes us to the era of the Viking in Volgarr the Viking II, an 80s arcade inspired action side scroller known for its brutal difficulty and demanding mechanics. While this game is short, and seemingly simple, the first Volgarr was one of the hardest games that Colin has ever played. As noted, this episode of course features some Platinum shout outs from our Discord, appeals to our Rage God, and answers to your Patreon submitted questions. What is our favorite animation in all of gaming? What PS2 classics do we want brought to the PS4 and PS5 next? Do our spouses ever help us earn trophies, or accidentally make us miss a trophy at the last second? Only the play button has the answers. Thank you for listening, and enjoy!

Hey there listeners! Finally, after a month of travel and conflicting schedules all three hosts from the Trophy Talk crew are back together under one roof to talk gaming, and what they have been playing. It's an exciting time indeed as Darryl, Josh, and Colin have all made some pretty significant progress on a number of title across June, even if it felt like a slow month in terms of new releases. Before we get to the game's we're playing though we touch on the end of the raffle event over in our Discord, as well as answer some Patreon submitted questions. These topics include what songs make us want to dance, what the best flavor of ice cream is, if we've ever almost had our consoles taken away from us as a punishment, and our biggest disappointments in DLC releases. Has Josh found a new challenge to go for on his profile with the release of more and more classic games to the PS Premium catalog? Is Darryl in fact rooting for the Green team in House of the Dragon Season 2? Is Colin actually going to play Shadow of the Erdtree? Only the play button has the answers. Thank you for listening, and happy gaming!

What happens when a small team with a passion for PS1 survival horror games, takes a chance and creates their own love letter to the genre? Crow Country, that's what. Crow Country, from SFB Games, is one of the most loving and caringly crafted homages to PS1 survival horror that Colin and Josh have ever played. Granted they may not have played many, but the point still stands. This game is marvelous in almost every way, from the atmosphere, to the puzzles and inventory, to the background story at play. Crow Country is certainly a game that any fan of the survival horror genres should play, and one we are incredibly happy to talk about on Surviving the Horror. Thank you for listening, and we hope you enjoy!

Well well well, look at what we have here. After the boys were a bit hard on Xbox for some of their most recent business moves and studio closures, Xbox came back and delivered what has to be one of the best showcases in recent history. With the showcase came a litany of great game announcements and trailers, many of which are coming to PS5. Naturally we start off the show by discussing some of these titles that are coming over, and what the showcase means for our feelings and thoughts on Xbox as a whole. Truth be told, it certainly made us more inclined to check out the Xbox ecosystem in the recent weeks as we wait for more PS titles to come out later this Summer. From there Josh and Colin move on to discuss a topic submitted via Patreon. Just what is the "correct" way to play a video game? Are we as trophy hunters robbing ourselves of intended experiences by using video and text guides? The short answer is, it depends, but we get into much more detail and try to parse out the truth which lies somewhere in the middle. Finally Josh reviews a PS classic title that recently got trophies added to it in Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, and Colin talk about the shadow drop of a DLC Pack 2 for Astro's Playroom. Is this a brilliant way to market the upcoming Astro Bot title and drive excitement, or is a huge annoyance to the trophy hunting community and those who strive for the full 100%? As always the reality is it's both. Thank you so much listening, and take care!

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another exciting episode of Trophy Talk! In episode 112, we see Josh and Colin get together to discuss the plethora of games they have been playing across the month of May. Some of these titles are smaller, and more recently discussed, such as Titan Chaser, while others are a bit more of surprising deep cut. Overall though, as you can guess, the boys have been quite busy! Before getting into all those games though, the team takes some time at the top of the episode to go over all the recent game announcements from the Sony State of Play. As you no doubt guessed from the thumbnail and the title, we were all thrilled at the announcement of Astro Bot, and luckily we don't have long to wait until we play it! What about the other titles though? Did anything else jump out to us from the swathe of new titles? Well, yes and no. Lastly, Josh and Colin field some Patreon submitted questions, shout of some platinum trophies earned by community members, and invoke Cthulhu / the rage god once again. Thank you all so much for listening, happy gaming and take care!

Hello and welcome everyone to episode 2 of Surviving the Horror! In this episode Colin and Josh take a look at the Xbox 360 era launch title Condemned: Criminal Origins. Developed by Monolith Productions, and published by SEGA, Condemned released as a launch title on Xbox 360 in November of 2005. The game has some great atmosphere, sound design, and overall atmosphere while mixing in some visceral first person melee combat and exploration. In many ways Condemned was ahead of its time, and it holds up beautifully to this day. We hope that you enjoy, and thank you so much for listening!

Hello there everyone, Welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk! In this week's episode, we actually start off with something a little different. In general we try to stay away from gaming news conversations on the show. It's not because we don't have things to say on the big topics of the day but it's more in an effort to let the podcasts that handle these things do so. We're not a news show and never have been so at times it feels like why would anyone want to hear from us on these things? This time though we had the time and space in the show to allow for a larger conversation about what has been going on over recent months with Xbox, and our thoughts on the future of Game Pass, the Xbox brand, and so much more. After a healthy discussion on the news surrounding recent studio closures, financial data, and console sales, the boys then go on a major tangent and discuss pizza. What toppings, sauces, styles do we think make for the perfect slice? You can't go wrong of course, but can you go right? Is there truly a best way to enjoy pizza? Lastly Colin , Darryl, and Josh each bring a trophy list to review, and oddly enough all of the lists this week have great distributions, and great concepts for their design. Take that Remedy and Alan Wake 2! You can keep all your bronzes =) Colin breaks down what appears to be a fairly straightforward and forgiving list for an online free to play FPS in XDefiant. Darryl gets into some Kaiju hunting and walking sim vibes with his exploration of Titan Chaser, and Josh takes us back to survival horror roots on the PS1 with Crow Country. All of these games seem great, and they're all available to trophy hunt in now on the PSN. Thanks very much for listening to the show, and take care! - Trophy Talk Crew
