Hello one and all and welcome back to another episode of Surviving the Horror! Every once in a while a horror game franchise comes around and captures the zeitgeist of the time, causing streamers, content creators and the like to all get involved in examining it. In 2014, one such game came in to being. Following in the footsteps of indie horror darlings like Slender, Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's released in August of 2014 and quickly became a cult hit. With ports in the same year for IOS and Android, Five Night's or FNAF, captured the imaginations and hearts of many a content creator and horror enthusiast. Blending together tight but simplistic gameplay, a rich dosing of lore, and terrifying animatronics, FNAF was the full package. Now, over ten years since it's initial creation, the FNAF franchise boasts over 12 games, a movie, several books and countless hours of YouTube content dedicated to its lore. FNAF is one of those franchises that seemingly keeps giving, and garnering a community of people who love it. Having never played any of these games before, it seemed only right that at some point we (Josh and Colin) had to get to FNAF. The lore for these games is tricky though, with a story spanning several decades and told non-chronologically through the games. We figured we'd need a little help to really parse through some of this stuff in our freshman outing. For this reason, we brought on special guest Kade, AKA TheGreenGorillaGamer. Kade is a long time fan of FNAF, being first introduced to the series as a kid. His breakdowns of lore, mechanics, and overall themes helped immensely as we tried to navigate our first five (really seven) nights at Freddy Fazebear's Pizza as a security guard. Can we make it through all seven nights? Is our battery management good enough to not be constantly on edge? Only time will tell. Come along with us though as we explore the topic of FNAF in what will undoubtedly be the first of several later episodes to come on the franchise. Thank you for listening, and enjoy!

I'm afraid to see the new movie because it looks... not very good. 35:12 - If The Acolyte, the new Star Wars show, is about stabbing Jedi, I could be into it! 44:20 - Blue's Big City Adventure is pretty good! If your four-years-old. And I'm exceptionally immature so... 58:55 - The Five Night's At Freddy's movie starts of great and then slides down to obnoxiously terrible over the course of its runtime If you missed Saturday's live broadcast of Molehill Mountain, you can watch the video replay on YouTube. Hello, Hello! This week on The Make It Podcast, Chris and Nick discuss the success of Five Nights at Freddy's and how it was able to capitalize on existing IP in a way that worked. They also analyze Taylor Swift's deal with AMC to distribute her concert film and whether others can replicate her success. Nick provides a culture check on a controversy involving the head of HBO being caught creating fake X (formerly Twitter) accounts to troll critics of its content. We also talk about: Debate around whether people can "cash in" on Taylor Swift's lottery ticket deal or if her level of fame and experience is unique. Consideration of whether Troll behavior is commonplace or if the HBO executive was wrong to attempt to manipulate feedback. Comments on the importance of artists receiving genuine criticism to improve their work. Enjoy! How you can continue to enjoy MAKE IT content: Subscribe to the MAKE IT YouTube channel. Some would say it's too early to remake, Willy's Wonderland. But whenever I say that, 10 year-olds yell at me unintelligibly. Synopsis Many remakes end up outshining the original, like John Carpenter's The Thing and Cronenberg's The Fly. But it's inevitable to still ask, do we really need a remake of Willy's Wonderland? It's only been two years since Willy's Wonderland broke new ground with the concept of a haunted Chuck E Cheese whose animatronics attack a night time security guard. Well Here we are with Five Night's At Freddy's, Which tells the tale of a haunted Chuck E. Cheese who's animatronics attack a night time security guard. Except this time, there is dialogue. Will this addition of character development and extra plot propel this remake into the lofty heights of The Thing and The Fly? Only time will tell. Review of Five Nights at Freddy's In evaluating Five Nights at Freddy's and determining what type of movie this is going to be, there is really only one piece of information that you need to know. It's starring Josh Hutcherson. So you can expect to get a rather harmless horror movie that has a subtle moodiness. You can go in and rest assured that nothing truly awful is going to befall the guy that played Peeta in the Hunger Games movie. Much like when I saw that Brenden Frasier was starring in the 90s The Mummy, I knew that it was going to be a goofy harmless adventure movie. This is a very confusing movie, and it took until the end before I had any semblance of understanding what was going on. Why were the animatronics haunted by murderous children, and why is sleeping on the job not a fireable offense for a nighttime security guard? These and other questions are half answered by a culminating reveal that will make you go, “Wait what? Ok whatever…” I really don't know what people expected from an adaptation of a spooky video game, and I have little to no knowledge of the source material, but this is a movie. It feels like a movie, and not just a factory of jump scares, which is what I would expect. But in the end, it's not that interesting of a movie. Most of the plot seems very tacked on and arbitrary. Like a wacky mad libs of character development. “Name a traumatic life experience that haunts a protagonist: Brother kidnapped when he was younger.” “Name a precocious attribute of the young sister: colors creepy and precinct drawings”. Nothing particularly feels real or connected throughout the plot, and it resulted in me being pretty disconnected from the characters or having any real interest in the resolution of the story. It mostly felt like waiting until a reveal, and that's pretty much exactly what happened. Score 4/10

Finally, we do an accidental review of Five Night's at Freddy's(1:18:35). HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Spooky Media Bros 2023 comes to a close with one of the most hotly anticipated video game film adaptations of the year, Five Nights at Freddy's. This highly divisive film delivered on all fronts to the hardcore fans of the franchise, but seemed to leave a lot of casual horror fans in the dust. Listen in as you get a perspective from both a fan and a complete outsider that knew nothing of the franchise and its lore. We think this movie deserves more praise than it's getting, but what did you think?Promo: Infectious Groove Musicsupermediabrospodcast.comLeave us a rating/review on Spotify, GoodPods, and Podchaser Super Media Bros YouTube ChannelFacebook:Super Media BrosX/Twitter: @SuperMediaBros_IG: @supermediabrospodcastFounding member of OddPods MediaThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4771235/advertisement

It's been a couple weeks since our last recording but the world has changed. Baldur's Gate 3 is out and it's already giving Tears of the Kingdom a run for it's money as one of the year's most critically acclaimed releases. We spend the entire 2nd segment diving into this undeniably dense but absurdly rewarding RPG. But first, we discuss the announcement of the Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail expansion and Rockstar's incredibly disappointing Red Dead Redemption announcement. Chris Davis "prepared a statement" about Dead Island 2 and Nick highlights My Friendly Neighborhood which feels like Five Night's at Freddy's and Resident Evil 1 had a baby.
