Has there ever been a better time to decide what our lives should look like? We are emerging from a once-in-a-century cataclysm where our lives were upended, our communities remade and our priorities readjusted. Now as the call to return to "normal" grows more insistent, we get to ask the question: what does "normal" look like? Did the old normal serve me? What do I want my new normal to be? And what will that mean for my career, my community, and my family? These are the fundamental questions to building our lives - and now, rebuilding them. As a therapist and coach, Shoshanna Hecht has been wrestling with these very questions in her practice - and now, on this podcast. With guests from all walks of life including media, culture, politics, tech, business & activism, Shoshanna examines the overlap of our goals, relationships, boundaries and priorities, and how we can navigate them all with self-awareness and intention. What do we want our lives to look like? Welcome to Your New Life Blend.

The Your New Life Blend podcast is an absolute gem that I stumbled upon and quickly fell in love with. Hosted by the amazing Shoshanna, this podcast celebrates the twists and turns of life and amplifies the topics we often speak about quietly with friends. Shoshanna's interview style is absolutely incredible, as she asks both the questions you have and the ones you wish you had. It's a delight to listen to her warm conversations with her guests.

One of the best aspects of The Your New Life Blend podcast is the incredible array of guests that Shoshanna brings on. Each episode exposes listeners to different career paths and life choices, providing a refreshing break from formulaic podcasts. The guests are inspiring, yet approachable, and Shoshanna gives them space to shine. You walk away from each episode learning something new and feeling motivated to explore your own potential.

Another fantastic aspect of this podcast is Shoshanna's ability to tease out reflection and insights from her guests like no one else does. She asks thought-provoking questions that go beyond surface-level discussions, leading to meaningful conversations that stay with you long after you've finished listening. The timeliness and comforting message of this show are also commendable, particularly in these challenging times. It offers a fresh perspective on work and life, reminding us that there is always room for growth, change, and joy.

As for the worst aspects of The Your New Life Blend podcast, it's hard to find any major flaws. However, some listeners might prefer a more structured format or consistent theme throughout episodes. This podcast embraces spontaneity and covers a variety of topics, which may not appeal to those seeking a more focused niche.

In conclusion, The Your New Life Blend podcast is an absolute must-listen for anyone looking for interesting, irreverent, and joyful conversations with remarkable humans. Shoshanna's divine hosting skills create an intimate atmosphere where listeners feel like they're sitting at her kitchen table, sipping a glass of wine or a cup of tea with friends. With each episode, you'll come away with new insights, inspiration, and a gentle reminder to be kind to yourself. Don't miss out on this wonderful podcast - it's truly a gift.

Have you ever looked at someone who seems to have it all — the job, the glam, the life — and wondered, what the heck did I miss? That's the premise of the much-anticipated new novel "The Memo" by Rachel Dodes and Lauren Mechling, about a woman flailing in life and love, stuck in a rut while all her friends seem to flourish — and realizing it's because they got "The Memo," and she didn't. At her college reunion, she is given the chance to go back in time and change her life. The novel invites us to ask ourselves... would we? And other, thornier questions: what does it means to be happy and successful? Are those the same things? If we had the chance to go back and course-correct our lives, what would we be giving up? In this episode of "Your New Life Blend," Rachel and Lauren talk with host Shoshanna Hecht about how we define success (and how it is defined for us), how even successful women can feel like they missed the memo (yes, even incredibly accomplished writers like Rachel and Lauren who together have written for The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Vogue, Vanity Fair, the GuardianUS, Elle, the New Yorker, Buzzfeed and more), and what it means to choose — and love — the life you are living. Jenn Romolini is a success story, with the glowing "get her life!" press coverage to prove it. As a journalist, editor, author, podcast creator and creative executive, Jenn has had the kind of successful career across media, tech and entertainment that is a testament to ambition, vision and hard work. But in her new memoir “Ambition Monster,” Jenn shares the story of just how hard the work was, and just how deep the ambition went as she looks backward on a life that was not always the stuff of glossy press coverage. In this episode of "Your New Life Blend," host Shoshanna Hecht talks to Jenn about the deeply personal story she tells about family, class, workaholism, and identity; how her ambition was both her survival mode and what gave her hope; and what it means to allow ourselves to tell our full stories - and be fully seen. Sure, we all get tired. But Lindsay Scola's tired was different. She was constantly exhausted, dozed off frequently, experienced night terrors, anxiety and brain fog, and sometimes, hallucinations. Doctors suggested that perhaps it was her demanding career working with high-powered leaders in entertainment, politics and government (including being part of the Obama administration), but still, this had been going on for two decades and Lindsay knew that something else was going on. It took years of telling doctors about her symptoms before finally, at age 35, she got confirmation that yes, her sleep was different: she had narcolepsy. Armed with this new information about her own health, Lindsay has become a patient advocate and sleep evangelist, writing and speaking widely to share her story and help others find clarity about their own health. In this episode of "Your New Life Blend," host Shoshanna Hecht talks to Lindsay about her sleep journey and the complexities of sleep issues for different people (yes, your tired might be different!); how to best advocate for ourselves with medical professionals (before they pass you a pamphlet and send you on your way); and how to be ambitious and productive when our bodies are not cooperating. SHOW NOTESWebsitehttps://www.lindsayscola.com"For Years Doctors Told Me My Constant Exhaustion and Night Terrors Were Normal. Glynnis MacNicol spent the long stretch of COVID lockdown mostly alone in small Upper West Side apartment, mostly without really touching another person. So by summer 2021, after vaccines had rolled out and restrictions were finally lifting, she jumped at the chance to stay at a friend's apartment in Paris, and immediately bought a plane ticket out of her pandemic-imposed solitude. Landing in Paris she found a city just waking up from its own lockdown, and felt in Parisians all around her the same urgent, greedy desire to enjoy every pleasure life had to offer - food (cheese, croissants, chocolate), community (in-person, Zoom be damned), and connection (very much in person, very pleasurable, very much enjoyed). She recounts it all and then some in her joyful, decadent, and insightful new memoir, "I'm Mostly Here To Enjoy Myself: One Woman's Pursuit of Pleasure in Paris," coming in June, which dares to suggest that women have the right to enjoy themselves - and their choices - fully and gloriously, without needing permission. In this episode of "Your New Life Blend," Glynnis talks to host Shoshanna Hecht about how seeking & claiming pleasure is actually a radical feminist act; the power of a free woman freely making her own choices; the joys of embracing your life unfolding at any age; and why we all deserve to truly enjoy ourselves. That last one happened to Amy Shoenthal, whose upward trajectory in a marketing firm record-scratched when she announced her pregnancy and came back from maternity leave to find herself subtly but unmistakably sidelined.  The subsequent feelings of professional panic, alienation and displacement left her unmoored from her career expectations and goals, which took a while for her to process and regroup from. So she came up with an ingenious solution: a weighted stuffed animal. In June 2022, she launched Hugimals World and its anchor product, the Hugimal, a 4.5-lb weighted stuffed animal in 4 varieties that feel like they are hugging you back. Let's fast forward to 300 glowing press clips later: Hugimals is a multiple award-winning product, one of TIME's Best Inventions, and available from Amazon to Nordstrom to QVC. It's an incredible success story, but like all success stories, it didn't happen overnight. In this episode of "Your New Life Blend,” Marina speaks to host Shoshanna Hecht about making the leap to becoming a first-time founder, the path from idea to invention, and the people she's hugged along the way (via many units of Hugimals, of course).

How do we pivot with intention when our pivot was not intentional? For Stacy London - who made her mark as the confident, encouraging face of reinvention on TLC's What Not To Wear - the onset of perimenopause symptoms in her late 40s coincided with a shift in professional direction that left her feeling disoriented in her body and in her life. For Stacy, transformation was supposed to be about hope, and moving forward with purpose, but these were changes that were happening to her, and she didn't know what her new purpose was supposed to be - or what she wanted it to be. Stacy started having conversations about things that happen to every woman - for the first time, despite years working across media. She realized that it only felt like a midlife crisis to her because no one talked about how it was actually normal - it just felt like a crisis because there was no positive culture around it. From there, her purpose was clear: to talk about what happens to - and for - those of us who experience menopause, and offer support for what's next. On this episode of "Your New Life Blend," host Shoshanna Hecht sits down with Stacy for a frank conversation about her own transformation; how to give ourselves the grace to see ourselves differently, with new possibilities; how to optimize for a new phase even when we wish nothing would change; and also, hormones. (Especially leading up to a scheduled hysterectomy.) In this frank and thoughtful conversation, "Your New Life Blend" host Shoshanna Hecht talks to Hitha about the privilege of boundaries, planting seeds and tending them over seasons, rejecting boxes "that are meant to keep us small," and the cathartic satisfaction of seeing a woman's anger be validated on "Vanderpump Rules." Amber Briggle describes herself as mostly just an unconditionally loving mom. She also happens to be one of America's most visible moms of a transgender child in the fight for trans inclusivity, equality and justice. She's also doing it in Texas, where she fights every day to keep her family safe in her home state (which she is not planning to leave).Amber and her family were investigated by the Texas Department of Family Protective Services for child abuse in 2022 after Texas Governor Greg Abbott directed the agency to open such cases against families like theirs. Amber and her family sued the governor along with co-plaintiffs in PFLAG v. Abbott in order to permanently halt these investigations. This is the defining fight of Amber's life, and the one that gets all the headlines - but she is also a small business owner and a wife and mom of two managing everything else that comes with living a full life with all its gifts and challenges. In this episode of "Your New Life Blend," host Shoshanna Hecht talks to Amber about how she also looks after herself, how she finds and cultivates the support her family needs, how she navigates being a public figure just for loving her kid - and how you can still build the life you want, even when the world is coming at you with all it's got.Website: Love To The MaxSocial Media: https://twitter.com/mrsbrigglehttps://www.linkedin.com/in/amberbrigglehttps://www.youtube.com/@amberbriggle427GLAAD PSA: Protect Our Families

Can you thrive in spaces that were not designed for you? Can you still achieve your highest purpose when you feel like you're under water? What keeps us grounded and focused on what's waiting for us just beyond the hard part? Bea Arthur is an entrepreneur and therapist who has seen patients and colleagues struggle with these questions in her practice and in building her companies - and has also found herself wondering those very things, keenly and deeply. As a trailblazing Black woman - the first African-American female founder accepted by Y Combinator, and frequently in spaces where she is the "first" or the "lone”'- Bea has become even more aware of how important it is to prioritize mental health, and even more passionately committed to her own highest purpose: helping people live easier, happier lives. Does beauty matter? Who gets to define it, and how, and why? And what are we willing to do for it? Journalist and author Elise Hu found herself asking those questions when she moved overseas in 2015 to serve as NPR's first-ever Seoul Bureau Chief, covering important global stories like North Korea's missile launches but living as an Asian woman in South Korea in a culture that venerated - and productized - perfection. Elise found herself thinking back to her days as a teenage model growing up in Texas and examining the pressure women - and girls - are constantly under to conform to beauty norms, with a gimlet eye to considering the industry making bank on selling the goods and services that promise physical perfection. In this final episode of Season 1 of "Your New Life Blend," host Shoshanna Hecht speaks to Elise about her new upcoming book, “Flawless: Lessons in Looks and Culture from the K-Beauty Capital,” and how we are mediating beauty culture in our own lives and to the next generation, the worrying creep of AI normalization around beauty standards, and whether we can still opt out of it. It is a packed final episode of the season and we are so grateful to Elise for her candid and insightful comments. What do you do when the rug is pulled out from under you? This was the collective reality in the United States in March 2020, universally felt (though unevenly experienced) and one that left individual families adrift as they tried to hammer out a semblance of a new normal. For lawyer & executive Candice Cook, it was all about learning to ride the wave - and keeping her family steady and afloat meant keeping herself steady and afloat, too. In this special live episode of "Your New Life Blend," host Shoshanna Hecht talks to Candice about how she remade her life with her husband and young son alongside a demanding career that didn't really stop, how she forced herself to find moments of intention in the home-bound togetherness, and how she made "no" her best friend because that made room to say "yes" to the things that really mattered. This episode was recorded live before an audience at SaksWorks, the membership club at Saks Fifth Avenue, in December 2021.

Susan McPherson is an author, founder, speaker and consultant, but ask anyone who knows her and they'll all come up with the same title: "connector." It was more than a little ironic, then, that her book, "The Lost Art of Connecting," was published smack in the middle of the pandemic, at the height of social distancing, masks and faces in tiny zoom boxes. (The book came out on March 30, 2021, when most of us weren't even vaccinated yet). For Susan, who loves connecting with friends, connecting those friends, and then watching those connections bear fruit (sometimes in the form of further connections!), a pandemic book launch meant missing out on in-person events with her community, but a pandemic launch for this book meant bringing it into the world at a time when it was sorely needed. The art of connecting truly felt lost in those times, and Susan found new purpose in bringing connection back through her book events - and more than a little validation that her topic was actually one of vital importance. In this episode of "Your New Life Blend," host Shoshanna Hecht talks with Susan about and how a foundation of strong connections has supported her in making brave, bold decisions in her life, and how small, simple acts of thoughtfulness can help us build stronger, more meaningful relationships in our personal and professional lives.

It was around that time that she realized that whether we like it or not, reinvention was going to be a necessary element our lives and how we live in the world. Fast forward to now, and Dorie Clark is a globally-recognized expert on reinvention and helping others make change in their lives, as a bestselling author, professor, and sought-after speaker and consultant - but even with all that, she has felt her own pull to reinvent herself and how she lives her life. In this episode of "Your New Life Blend," Dorie speaks with host Shoshanna Hecht about turning dreams into long-term plans so you can reinvent yourself on your own schedule, accounting for your own shifting priorities, and why if you create a long runway for yourself, you can do almost anything.

Who are my teachers when they're not assigned to me? What is the curriculum I choose to follow when it's not in the book? These were the questions that Abby Falik challenged high school graduates to answer when she founded Global Citizen Year, a non-profit that supported students in taking a "gap year" after high school. Abby was a decade into Global Citizen Year when the pandemic ground everything to a halt. Abby realized that this had never happened before, this collective, shared pause in life as we knew it. She made a conscious effort to find the power in that pause. In 2022 she joined the Emerson Collective as an Entrepreneur in Residence to incubate new models to transform how young people learn, launch and lead. Part of that mandate meant examining the default, assumed pathways not just for students, but for us all - and, Abby realized, for her. She and her husband had always dreamed of traveling the world with their children, so they packed up and took off for their own pause, and a return to her own fundamental questions about how we choose to learn, and live. In this episode of “Your New Life Blend,” Abby dials in from Nepal to talk to host Shoshanna Hecht about tuning out “the noise of everybody else's expectations" and finding your own path, because if the road is comfortable, you're on somebody else's road.

Is your workplace toxic? Benish Shah is an in-demand lawyer and marketing executive, used to ambitious projects with punishing timelines, and she didn't mind hard work. But in the wake of the pandemic, she  started to question not just the work, but the workplaces. Was her work making the world a better place? And were her workplaces measuring up to that same standard? Benish had noticed a pattern in workplace culture: big talk about diversity and inclusion, but little actual follow through for the employees who took the risk of showing up at work with their full selves. As a marketer, Benish recognized the pitch: Big talk about doing great work that's valued. As a veteran of some of those workplaces, she recognized the con: gaslighting, HR doublespeak and a playing field that was never meant to be even. In this episode of "Your New Life Blend," host Shoshanna Hecht talks to Benish about how to recognize toxic workplaces, and what tools we can use to navigate them with open eyes, or get out.

Now Emily is the founder of Sober Mom Squad, a Certified Professional Recovery Coach, a Facilitator of Addiction Awareness and the author of "Highlight Real: Finding Honesty and Recovery Beyond the Filtered Life." But there was something else she needed to be honest about: her complicit relationship with a predatory multi-level marketing outfit (MLM). Drinking had helped make Emily a sales juggernaut, but she didn't like what she'd bought into. Together with her co-founder, Sehreen built Sleuth, a childhood health recommendation engine, powered by crowdsourced insights from parents and machine-learning. (Think: Waze for childhood health.) (She does not have time for "this is how we've always done it" and still less for "this is why it can't be done.") Umbreen had been at the Athena Center for almost a year when the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded in March 2020, and she got her wish: "this is how we've always done it" was no longer an option, and "this can't be done" never was.
