Jeannette is joined by Allan Kleynhans, an incredible coach, motivational speaker and Tony Robbins trainer, for the second in a two-part conversation - this time discussing the critical topic of employee engagement and the emerging trend of "quiet quitting." They discuss the importance of fostering a motivated and committed workforce, emphasising that disengaged employees can be detrimental to both individual and organisational success. The conversation highlights effective strategies for addressing disengagement, including the significance of hiring the right people and creating a supportive work environment. KEY TAKEAWAYS Engaged teams and employees are crucial for achieving business success. Disengagement, often exemplified by "quiet quitting," can be detrimental to both individuals and organisations. The interview process should focus on finding candidates with the right attitude rather than just skills. Questions about personal interests, such as the last five books read, can reveal a candidate's mindset and potential fit within the company culture. Companies that foster emotional investment and psychological safety among employees tend to thrive. Encouraging open communication and sharing personal challenges can enhance team dynamics and overall morale. Individuals must prioritise their well-being to bring their best selves to work. Engaging in practices like meditation, exercise, and personal reflection can help maintain energy levels and prevent burnout. BEST MOMENTS "When you've got an engaged team... that's when you really can get motivated and get results." "You can't train attitude. It's impossible. You can hire attitude, but you can train skill." "If you don't like where you are right now, you have to ask yourself what decisions you made a year ago." "Obstacles are not in the way, they're on the way." This is the perfect time to get focused on what YOU want to really achieve in your business, career, and life. Jeannette is joined for the first in a two-part conversation, by Allan Kleynhans, for a thought-provoking discussion on human behaviour and personal development. With over 36 years of studying the human condition, Allan shares insights on unlocking potential, the importance of self-awareness, and the power of conscious decision-making. They explore the significance of creating a calm and present mindset, especially in today's fast-paced world filled with distractions, and examine the challenges of communication, the necessity of understanding oneself, and the value of nurturing relationships. KEY TAKEAWAYS Becoming aware of one's thoughts and feelings is crucial for personal growth. By actively listening to oneself and questioning the origins of thoughts, individuals can make more conscious decisions and break free from negative thought patterns. Taking time for silence and self-reflection is essential for mental clarity and emotional well-being. Establishing a routine that includes quiet time can lead to greater calmness, focus, and a deeper understanding of one's purpose. Effective communication is vital for building relationships and achieving goals. Listening to understand, rather than just to respond, fosters better connections and ensures that messages are conveyed clearly. Engaging with literature enhances communication skills and broadens perspectives. Reading not only improves vocabulary and grammar but also stimulates imagination and critical thinking. BEST MOMENTS "The thing I'm most proud of is the fact that I've been studying for 36 years... Why do we suffer? Why do we spend so much time in pain?" "When you become conscious about that process in your mind, you can start to trace those thought processes back." "Communication is the response you get." "It's really just a case of recognising that actually there's nowhere to be other than this moment right now." This is the perfect time to get focused on what YOU want to really achieve in your business, career, and life. It's never too late to be BRAVE and BOLD and unlock your inner BRILLIANT. Would you describe your child as passive, quiet around others, uncomfortable in social situations, a child that avoids eye contact, and maybe hesitates to try new things? Does your child excessively rehearse what they want to say or how they want to behave? Some parents may wonder if this is shyness or something more. Is it social anxiety? Today, we're digging into the topic of both. Is it shyness or social anxiety and how do you know? And what can we do to help? Dr. Fran Walfish is an absolute expert in this field and in our conversation today, she not only offers some clarification on the differences between shyness and social anxiety, but also shares things we can do to support these children better and when to seek professional help and guidance. She is a wealth of knowledge and I am thrilled for you to hear our conversation. Show Notes: [3:21] - First, shyness is an innate trait. It's something human beings are born with. A child comes into the world already predisposed with a particular temperament. [4:42] - Shyness can sometimes look like anxiety. There are so many ingredients that shape a person's personality and behavior. [6:36] - The child should be the one to dictate the comfort level, rather than it being driven by the parent's fear of embarrassment or shame due to the child's shyness. [8:31] - Certain things can lead to social anxiety. [10:20] - Not all shy people have social anxiety. [12:11] - Well-meaning parents may feel embarrassed or exceedingly worried about a child's shyness. [14:37] - Selective mutism is a confusing presentation of social anxiety. [16:58] - It is crucial for parents not to pressure kids. It could lead to them withholding even more. [19:12] - The parent who is trying to discern the difference between social anxiety and shyness needs to be non-judgmental. [21:35] - Create some reasonable separation and assure your child that you are there. [23:01] - Just like adults, children want to be seen, acknowledged, validated and accepted - flaws and all. [24:40] - What can parents and teachers do to help children with social anxiety? Dr. Walfish shares some tips. [26:25] - Expect some successes and failures. [31:21] - If parents see their child crying and sobbing in most social situations, it is time to search for a referral. "I am so grateful for the professional experiences that I've had, and so grateful for the incredible men in my life. But I feel like I've been the supporting character in my own life. I'm always 'Mark Zuckerberg's Sister' or 'Brent's Wife' or 'So-and-So's Mom.' Every achievement — even though I'm proud of it — is qualified by someone else. The moment I got to break the tape at the half marathon was the first moment in my entire life where I felt like the main character." Randi Zuckerberg is a best-selling author, entrepreneur, host of "Randi Zuckerberg Means Business" on SiriusXM Radio, a TV and theater producer, and a mom of three living in New York City. And yes, her last name is Zuckerberg. Randi is Mark Zuckerberg's sister, and was one of the first employees at Facebook. (She's credited with creating Facebook Live!) But "Mark Zuckerberg's Sister" isn't how Randi wants to be defined, and she has officially entered her Main Character Era — thanks to running. In this conversation, Randi talks about her journey to becoming a marathoner and an ultramarathoner, and recounts her days at the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon (she ran a 3:34:54, earning herself a Boston Qualifying time) and then, two weeks later, her first 50-miler. Work, sleep, family, friends, fitness. Can you excel at all of these? And if you can't, which ones do you choose? Randi Zuckerberg lives her life by the philosophy of "pick three" - you can excel at three of those five, but if you try to do more, you won't make a dent in any of them. It's kind of an ironic maxim for someone with so many identifiers - founder, investor, performer, author, podcast host, not to mention mom, wife, daughter, and sister - but it's one Randi stands by, especially as she finds herself growing personally and professionally in this stage of a very public life and career. In this episode of "Your New Life Blend" Randi sits down with host Shoshanna Hecht for some very real talk about what we find - and make - time for, who the stakeholders are in that time, and what it means to build something that is well, truly and only yours.Show NotesThe Hug https://www.thehug.xyz/& Motherhttps://andmother.org/Books: Pick Three: You Can Have It All (Just Not Every Day)https://www.amazon.com/Pick-Three-Have-Just-Every-ebook/dp/B074SGQR3KDot Complicated: Untangling Our Wired Liveshttps://www.amazon.com/Dot-Complicated-Untangling-Wired-Lives-ebook/dp/B00BATNRH8Dot. https://www.amazon.com/Dot-Randi-Zuckerberg/dp/0062287516/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=Missy President https://www.amazon.com/Missy-President-1-Randi-Zuckerberg/dp/0692794840/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=Social Media:https://www.instagram.com/randizuckerberghttps://www.linkedin.com/in/randizuckerberghttps://twitter.com/randizuckerberghttps://www.facebook.com/randiPodcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/ee/podcast/crypto-cafe-with-randi-zuckerberg/id1617293896Randi Zuckerberg Means Business https://randi-zuckerberg-means-business.simplecast.com/

Imagine having a beautifully organized home, a thriving business, healthy relationships with your family and friends, and a fit, healthy body, too. Sound like a pipe dream? It might if you listen to those who say it's impossible to be successful in so many things, like Randi Zuckerberg claims. She says that you must choose only three areas of life in which you can thrive. All the rest? They'll suffer from lack of attention. I have a different take, and in this episode, I want to explore some ways we can “have it all” without feeling overwhelmed and sleep deprived. Prefer a transcript? Here you go! What you'll learn in this episode: The one thing you need to make everything possible (no matter how busy or overwhelmed you are right now).
