A 36-year-old Virginia man was sentenced to ten years in prison for abusing his two 12-year-old sons. During the period between Jan. 1, 2021, and April 30, 2021, Adam Hodge abused two 12-year-old girls. Hodge testified on Monday that he was just disciplining them by holding pillows to their faces. As well as cutting one of the victims with steak knives, Hodge tied another victim to a wooden cross to beat him. In addition, Hodge reportedly held one boy's head underwater in a river almost to the point of drowning, according to the Southwest Times. Upon receiving the abuse allegations, the Pulaski County Department of Social Services launched an investigation. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office found physical evidence such as scars. Hodge pleaded guilty to eight counts of child abuse in April, and on April 30, 2021, he was booked into the New River Valley Regional Jail. The Roanoke Times reports that Chief Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Dina Branco called the abuse "torture." During testimony, Hodge's mother said she and her husband were given full custody of the twin victims when they were 11 months old, but Hodge still sought partial custody in the fall of 2020. A total of 40 years was sentenced to Hodge for each of the eight charges, but the term will be suspended after 10 years of service. The Roanoke Times reports that Hodge was ordered to be supervised by the probation office for five years after completing the 10-year sentence. Hodge was also instructed not to contact the victims or any children under 18. If you like TRUE CRIME TODAY - Be sure to search and subscribe wherever you download podcasts!
