Trechos do livro “Yoga, Meditation and Japa Sadhana”, de Swami Krishnananda.

A short exert from "Sadhana, a Textbook of the Psychology and Practice of the Techniques to Spiritual Perfection" (pg 365-367) by His Holiness Swami Sivananda Saraswati, read by Rev. Dr. Swami Bhajanananda Saraswati. "Why should you prolong your bondage unnecessarily? Why should you not claim your birthright right now? Do it now. Stand up. Gird your loins. Do rigorous and vigorous sadhana and attain freedom, immortality and eternal bliss. Make the lower nature the servant of the higher through discipline, tapas, self-restraint and meditation. This is the beginning of your freedom. Build your character. Purify the heart. Develop divine virtues. Eradicate evil traits. Conquer all that is base within you. Endeavor to attain all that is worthy and noble. Only when you have purified the heart, silenced the mind, stilled the thoughts and surging emotions, withdrawn the outgoing senses, thinned out the vasanas, can you behold the glorious Atman during deep meditation. Even a ray of inner light during meditation will lighten your path. It will give you you encouragement and inner strength. It will goad you to do more sadhana. You will experience this ray of light when the meditation becomes deeper and when you rise above body-consciousness. Meditation and worship are the means of evolving your potentialities and seeking a higher level of consciousness. Life is the unfolding of the latent capacities of the soul. Lead the divine life. Generate sublime divine thoughts through meditation, japa, kirtan and study of sacred scriptures. Bask the body in physical sunlight. Bask the soul in the sunlight of the Eternal. You will have good health and everlasting life. Sit down with a compose mind. Assert your mastery over body and mind. Plunge deep into the chambers of the heart and enter into the stupendous ocean of silence. Listen to the voice which is soundless. Build your spiritual life upon a sure foundation, upon the rock of divine grace and strength of character. Take refuge in the Lord and His law. There is no power in heaven or on earth that can bar your march now. Success in Self-realization is certain. There is light on your path. All is brilliant."
Do you really know the power of your thoughts? While light travels at the rate of 1,86,000 miles per second, thoughts virtually travel in no time. Thought is finer than ether, the medium of electricity. If the mind dwells continually upon one train of thought, a groove is formed into which the thought-force runs automatically and such a habit of thought survives death and since it belongs to the ego, is carried over to the subsequent earth-life as a thought-tendency and capacity. Every thought has got its own mental image. The essence of the various mental images formed in one particular physical life is being worked out in the mental plane. It constitutes the basis for the next physical life. Just as a new physical body is formed in every birth, so also a new mind and a new Buddhi are formed in every birth. Not easy is the act of explaining the detailed workings of thought and destiny. Each thought is a link in an endless chain of causes and effects, each effect becoming a cause and each cause having been an effect; and each link in the endless chain is welded out of three components—desire, thought and activity. A desire stimulates a thought; a thought embodies itself as an act. Act constitutes the web of destiny.

Welcome to December 11, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate stretching our limits and staying connected. You may have heard that the key to a long life includes a healthy diet and plenty of exercise. While experts don't agree on what to eat one thing holds true: a quality life includes movement. If you need a little motivation, look no further than Swami Sivananda, the oldest living yoga practitioner currently on the planet. At age 126, Sivananda still manages to stretch for hours at a time without any assistance. He is free from any medical conditions and even finds time to give service to those less fortunate than himself. You may not feel that stretchy these days, but have no fear. Practitioner assisted-stretching is on the rise and may hold the key to some serious health benefits. On National Stretching Day, open your mind to what is truly possible. In 1997, the Nokia 6110 phone introduced a simple arcade game called Snake, which is considered by many to be the first mobile app. Almost 10 years later the iPhone was released and with it, users could access nearly 500 apps. Today there are millions of apps available for purchase and its estimated that more than 935 billion dollars will be generated in app sales by 2023. From navigation to learning and even performing surgery, apps have transformed our everyday lives. While they've come a long way from that first game of Snake, they are still used to entertain us and keep us in touch with family and friends. On National App Day, celebrate the convenience of your favorite apps by sharing them with those you love. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we Celebrate Every Day. Em 1936 nasceu a “The Divine Life Society”.

Nehemiah Davis is a yogi and teacher of mystic practices. From early childhood Nehemiah's father (Althair H. Davis) taught him to manipulate cosmic energies (prana) through prayer and mantra with metaphysical teachings that stress balanced karmic methods of actions through life. With this, his father instructed him in several forms of yoga, which included; karma yoga, hatha yoga, bhakti yoga, raja yoga, mantra yoga, mudra yoga, pranayama (yogic breathing exercises) and kundalini yoga. As a child his father created and enforced a daily schedule of early morning and late evening prayer, meditation, and pranayama. His education in metaphysics while growing up included mystic authors such as; H.P. Blavatsky, Annie Besant, Rama Prasad, Swami Vekadanada, Yogic Ramacharka teachings, Alice A. Bailey, Paramahansa Yogananda, Swami Sivananda, Sir. John Woodroffe, as well as the late Dr George King founder and president of the Aetherius Society, a modern mystic order that his family were members of. Nehemiah Davis has been teaching on various metaphysical subjects over the last 25 year. His students have asked him over the last decade to write on the subjects he taught. This book “The Ancient Language of the Soul” is his beginning in sharing his knowledge with a large audience around the world. https://www.youtube.com/mysticknowledge

The Hindu teacher Swami Sivananda writes, "The fundamentals or essentials of all religions are the same. There is difference only in the non-essentials." Many today have passively accepted this sentiment. It's the mood of our city and age. We long for unity amidst diversity. However, pretending our real differences don't actually exist leads to superficial unity, which is tenuous at best, and dangerous at worst. The major world religions are not all the same. They do not point to the same God. In this week's sermon, we dive into Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism, and look straight at the facts.
