Dr. Alanna highlighted the importance of emotional depth, intuition, creativity, and communication as core feminine traits. Dr. Foojan shared his experience of neglecting his feminine side and how it affected his well-being. They discussed redefining success beyond traditional masculine ideals of linear achievement, advocating for a more holistic and community-focused approach. Women embracing their feminine strengths were encouraged to redefine success without conforming to masculine standards. Dr. Alanna used Greek mythology to illustrate these energies, contrasting Artemis' strategic, diplomatic nature with Ares' direct, forceful approach. She encouraged individuals to consider alternative, feminine-driven methods of achieving goals. The discussion also addressed societal pressures on women to constantly give, often leading to emotional exhaustion. Dr. Alanna urged women to rewrite these expectations and embrace reciprocity in relationships. They also discussed the misconceptions surrounding masculinity, emphasizing the importance of healthy masculinity rooted in nurturing and support rather than control. Finally, the conversation stressed the importance of balancing masculine and feminine energies within relationships and personal growth. Dr. Alanna highlighted the need for safety, security, trust, and emotional connection for women to thrive, emphasizing intuition as a guiding force. Remember to Subscribe, Listen, Review, and Share! The 'Satisfied Woman' challenges the conventional wisdom that has long pushed women to model themselves after male-defined notions of success. For centuries, the female struggle for equality has meant fighting for the same opportunities as men to make their own choices, build independent lives, craft powerful careers, and exercise their agency. But has this been the wrong approach? Could striving to be equal to men actually be holding women back from realizing their fullest potential? Focusing too narrowly on integrating into masculine systems and hierarchies. women have forged paths laid out by men, emulating what men identify as desirable. These preconceived notions of what society has deemed standard have forced the modern woman to overlook the extraordinary power of developing and expressing her innate femininity. Could this be why many women remain unsatisfied and overwhelmed?
In this thought-provoking episode of the Finding Harmony Podcast, Harmony Slater and Russell Case sit down with philosophical scholar and teacher, Dr. Shyam Ranganathan, to explore the deeper aspects of yoga philosophy, ethics, and autonomy. Dr. Ranganathan dives into the true purpose of yoga as a tool for independence, and how the practice has been shaped—and sometimes distorted—by colonial and cultural influences. Listeners will gain valuable insights into the roots of yoga, understanding how devotion to sovereignty, through practices like Ishvara Pranidhana, leads to Kaivalya, a state of autonomy. Dr. Ranganathan also touches on the challenges of decolonizing yoga, the philosophical lens necessary for true yoga practice, and the importance of questioning the cultural baggage that modern yoga carries. Dr. Ranganathan's reflections on the Yoga Sutras, the role of language, and how philosophy intertwines with meditation will inspire anyone looking to deepen their understanding of yoga beyond physical asana. This episode is a must-listen for both seasoned practitioners and those new to the philosophy of yoga. Key Topics Discussed: Decolonizing yoga and returning to its philosophical roots The ethical and philosophical dimensions of yoga practice The real meaning behind Ishvara Pranidhana and Kaivalya Breaking free from the constraints of past habits (Tapas) The intersection of personal freedom and yoga philosophy How colonization has shaped modern yoga practices Connect with Dr. Shyam Ranganathan: https://www.shyam-ranganathan.info/ Connect with Us (We love to hear from you!) Im zweiten Teil unserer Doppelfolge über die sechs klassischen Darshanas tauchen wir noch tiefer in die Philosophie Indiens ein. Nachdem wir im ersten Teil die Systeme Samkhya, Nyaya, Vaisheshika und Purva Mimamsa behandelt haben, richten wir heute den Fokus auf die beiden besonders prägenden Darshanas: Vedanta und Yoga. Gemeinsam mit Yogalehrer und Philosophie-Experte Timo Wahl geht Gastgeberin Susanne Mors den tiefen Fragen nach, die diese Lehren aufwerfen. Was bedeuten Dualität (Dvaita) und Nicht-Dualität (Advaita) im Vedanta? Wie prägen Brahman, Atman und Maya das Verständnis der Realität? Und welche Rolle spielt das Yoga-Darshana nach Patanjali für die Entwicklung der yogischen Praxis? Wir besprechen, wie diese Philosophiesysteme nicht nur die meditative Praxis, sondern auch das alltägliche Leben und die Suche nach spiritueller Befreiung beeinflussen. Außerdem werfen wir einen Blick darauf, wie sich die unterschiedlichen philosophischen Ansätze von Vedanta und Yoga ergänzen – und was es mit der Vorstellung auf sich hat, dass die höchste Stufe des Yoga, Samadhi, letztlich die Verschmelzung mit dem wahren Selbst bedeutet. Zum Ende verrät Timo noch, wie die Beschäftigung mit den sechs Darshanas seine eigene Spiritualität und Sicht auf das Leben beeinflusst hat. Diese Folge YogaWorld Podcast gibt dir die Möglichkeit, tiefer in die philosophischen Wurzeln des Yoga einzutauchen und wertvolle Impulse für deine eigene Praxis zu entdecken. window.dataLayer = window.dataLayer || []; function gtag(){dataLayer.push(arguments);} gtag('js', new Date()); gtag('config', 'G-8HXGBD0CVC'); [Quick links] [Pause] Many modern Yoga teachers define Yoga as union. Union with what? Many definitions have been given. But the fact remains that most of us mean body exercises, when we say Yoga. It is about manipulation of the body, it is about fitness of the body, it is about ‘control' of the body and its instincts. That is the domain of Hatayoga. So, what is this union about? Patanjali Yoga goes a step further. It talks about moving beyond the body and mind. It talks about the soul. And if at all you can use such a word, it talks about uniting with your real self, or attaining Kaivalya – a state where the soul is completely free. But is that the end? That is what we will be seeing in this episode. p { color: #00000a; line-height: 120%; text-align: justify; orphans: 2; widows: 2; margin-top: 0.28cm; margin-bottom: 0.25cm; direction: ltr; background: transparent }p.western { font-family: "Arial", serif; font-size: 12pt; so-language: en-US }p.cjk { font-family: "Segoe UI Emoji"; font-size: 12pt; so-language: en-IN }p.ctl { font-family: "Segoe UI Emoji"; font-size: 14pt; so-language: ar-SA }a:link { color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline }

Joël has been a pioneer in the modern psychedelic movement, specifically in the realm of 5-MeO-DMT and the Bufo Alvarius toad. His unique approach of applying classical non-dual yogic philosophy as geography for both preparation and integration from the entheogenic experience gained attention around the world at the first WBAC (World Bufo Alvarius Congress) and continues to shift the landscape of psychedelic use. Joël works specifically in the retreat setting and with over a decade of experience, has curated a container that is meant to facilitate lasting change. Drawing from a combination of eastern, as well as neurofeedback, and other contemporary western integrative practices, these retreats give participants a space to safely unfold, address trauma, undergo cathartic release, and have the support system to hold them through the whole process. Joël and his team at Tandava are raising the bar for psychedelic and wellness retreats, with a flagship center in Tepoztlan, Mexico. About Victoria: Victoria's first introduction into the world of healing was through plant medicine, she has been working with different psychedelic plant medicines over the span of a decade, with both indigenous and modern teachers. In 2016 she set out to complete her Yoga teacher training in Bali, which allowed her to gain further insight into the different lenses used in spirituality. Choosing to continue her education to best support others, she enrolled in a year-long psychedelic integration training where she chose to specialize on the 5-MeO-DMT integration process. Victoria is the founder and president of Kaivalya's education platform F.I.V.E (5-MeO-DMT Information and Vital Education). Her mission at F.I.V.E is to provide the world with a centralized hub for all resources and education on 5-MeO-DMT, in hopes of bringing awareness to the ethics, integrity, and the safety of 5-MeO-DMT. Roughly 60% of the Indian population is under the age of 30 and hence the coolness funnel tends to be top-down. This is the segment that everyone will be building for. The consumption trends and behavioral patterns we hear here from these 4 accomplished people will likely remain relevant over the next decade. We have Navya - who's an unlikely grounded person one usually wouldn't assume, the precocious Zepto Brothers - where what stands out more than everything else is the bond 2 guys who met in the 6th-grade share with each other, and Tara - an outsider who paved her way into the very inside world of Bollywood. The transient nature of younger folks when it comes to housing/transport/ownership/vocation/fashion/shopping and the shorter attention spans are very different to someone like me who spends 8 hours watching a cricket match for example. The Fifth Through the Eighth Heavens: Nirvana -- Kaivalya -- Oneness -- Sach Khand -- The True Eternal Realm Divided Into Four Sub-sections: 5) Sat Lok (True Realm), Sat Naam (True Name, True Sound), Sat Purush (True Original Being) 6) Alakh Lok (Invisible Realm), 7) Agam Lok (Inaccessible Realm, Nearness,) 8) Anami (Nameless Realm), Radhasoami Lok -- Radhaswami Dham -- The Abode of the Lord of the Soul, Most High Ultimate Reality, "The Eighth" -- Ocean of Love -- Upper Level of Kaivalya known as Shabdatita [Sabtatit] Pad -- Beyond the Sound and Light, the Ultimate Reality of God in the Nirguna or Formless, Soundless State "Begin meditation with internally chanting or repeating the Guru-mantra-incantation (the charged words given by the Guru). And then try to visualize the radiant form or image of the Satguru in the still darkness of the inner sky (with eyes closed). Follow that with focusing your attention at the seat of the soul within, i.e. at the Third Eye or the Inner Eye or the Til Dwaar, by making the two streams of consciousness in your two eyes converge in a Point." "When the two currents of consciousness meet in a Point, Divine Light appears within. Then, practice Surat Shabd Yoga (Yoga of Divine Sound) i.e., try to shift your attention to listening to the Divine Sounds or myriads of melodies (Anahad Naad) ringing inside. Listening to the Divine Sound destroys all the agitations and fickleness of the mind." "Ascending beyond or transcending myriads of sounds, try to identify and tune in to the Quintessential Unstruck Melody, called "Saar Shabd" or "Anaahat Naad" which alone is capable of taking you and merging you into oneness with the Supreme Lord; this is the ultimate emancipation or liberation." (Couplets About Meditation Practice, By Swami Santsevi Ji) "The tenth gate [third eye] is the gathering point of consciousness. Therein lies the path for our return... We travel back from the Realm of Darkness to the Realm of Light, from the Light to the Divine Sound, and from the Realm of Sound to the Soundless State. This is called turning back to the Source." (Swami Santsevi Ji) "In summary, one grasps the central Sounds of the lower realms and progressively is drawn upward to the Sounds of the higher realms. Ultimately, one reaches the center of the Original Sound, the Essential Divine Sound, and thereafter attains the Ultimate State, Sabdatita [Sabtatit] Pad (the State beyond the Sound). The Yoga of Sound [Surat Shabd Yoga Meditation] must be practiced in order to attain the Nameless State. This is fully elaborated and described in the Upanishads and literature of the saints. The Yoga of Sound is the only medium to reach this State, no other. The greatest good is in the attainment of the Ultimate State, the Nameless State." (Maharshi Mehi) "The State beyond Sound is acknowledged in the writings of saints as the goal of their teachings. In addition, their writings accept Manas Japa (repetition of a Divine name [simran]), Manas Dhyan (concentration on a form of the Divine), Drshti Yoga (fixing the mind on a Point [accessing the Third Eye Center and inner Light]) and Nada-nusandhana (concentrating on the inner Sounds of the different spheres) as means to reach the Soundless State. These four techniques are therefore essential in Sant Mat." (Maharshi Mehi) Swami Ji Maharaj says, "From one step to another the soul beholds strange things which cannot be described in human language... Love plays the supreme part. It is all love. So says RADHASOAMI." In Divine Love, James Bean Sant Mat Satsang Podcasts Spiritual Awakening Radio https://www.SpiritualAwakeningRadio.com
This Upaniṣad ends on an auspicious note by prescribing a sādhanā, an aid to help overcome the obstacles in the way of this knowledge. The sādhanā prescribed is in the form of a very powerful prayer called Sri Rudram, which when chanted regularly reveals the truth of oneself as that which alone is -Kaivalyam. Note: The entire talk on Sri Rudram is available in this podcast. Scroll to the 1st episode to begin listening.
As we near the end of the text, we are given the phala sruti, the benefit of learning this text; one assimilates the pure nature of the ātman thereby knowing the nature of the indwelling self as impartite, non-dual, absolute, beyond cause and effect and as the witness of everything.
Diving deeper into the teaching, Ashvalayana reflects on how the 'this cognition'- Idam Pratyaya gochara, folds into the 'I cognition'- Aham pratyaya gochara, making everything non-separate from 'I' and non-dually one. This is Sarvātmābhava. The consciousness 'I', alone is. I am everything, yet no object am I. How this "one became many" is explained in this talk. Further, we understand through Asvalayana's reflections that 'I' am that self evident chit, ever free, beyond all names and forms.
We now enter into a series of deeply contemplative verses which are Asvalayana's reflections on the teachings. What is this knowledge and what has been gained? This reflective process called nididhyāsana, proves to be an important process in assimilating the teaching thereby making it one's own.
Verse 15 tells us how everything including prāṇa and the five elements, all come from this atma alone. The meaning of prāṇa is beautifully explained in this talk along with, the two ways in which things are known- pramāṇa Siddha (objects that are revealed through a means of knowledge) & Swatah Siddha (self-revealing). Further, Ashvalayana's question on wanting to know this Brahman is answered in verse 16, thus revealing the mahāvākya which establishes a connection between the jiva (I) & Īśvara.
In the mantra 12, 13 & 14 covered in this episode, the sage teaches Asvalayana the Avasthā-traya prakriyā, the teaching methodology involving the three states of waking, sleeping and dreaming.
Asvalayana is given the mantra of 'OM' not as a meditation but for understanding the truth of himself. The full meaning of 'OM' is explained beautifully and exhaustively in this episode.
Omkara Upasana helps one to own up the knowledge that one is indeed Brahman. What is Omkara mantra japa? How does it aid in seeing the truth of oneself? What us the underlying factor in the three states of waking, dream and sleep and how to see the reality using this Prakriyā? Listen to find out.
The two types of cognition, Idam pratyaya Gochara, 'this cognition' and Aham pratyaya Gochara, 'I' cognition', are explained in this episode. Further, we sift between Idam (this) and Aham (I) first only to cognitively resolve 'this', Idam, into the 'I', Aham.
It was said that the only way to mokṣa is knowledge. In this episode, we examine why this knowledge is to be gained from a Guru of a sound lineage. How does one overcome resistance towards this knowledge? What is 'Tvam-Pada-Vichara', inquiry into the word 'you'? And what are the two types of cognitions? Listen to find out.
The contemplative one alone is Brahma, Vishnu, Siva and Indra. The contemplative one is everything, all pervasive, beyond time and space and transcends mortality with knowledge- the only path to liberation, mokṣa.
Mantra 5 establishes the need for meditation and talks about the basic preliminaries. Mantra 6 & 7 are meditative and contemplative verses which simultanously are teachings as well. This episode points out the three different types of adhikari-s, the two types of pratibandhika-s, inhibitive factors in the way of knowledge, the three process of knowing- sravanam, mananam and nididhyasanam and further Swaminiji beautifully elucidate the mahāvākya, 'tat tvam asi' -That Thou Art.
This episode explains why both the aspects of Brahman - the intrinsic and the incidental, are to be contemplated upon as the truth of oneself. Find out as to why the highest form of devotion is in fact Self-knowledge and what it mean to 'attain' this knowledge.
In verses 6 & 7, the Upanisad tells us to meditate upon Brahman in the form of Uma and Siva in order to forge a relationship with the forms first so that one understands what they represent cognitively- the all pervasive, changeless, limitless and formless consciousness that sustains all form.
This episode describes the four stages of āśramas; Brahmacharya (student), Gṛhastha (householder), Vanaprastha (forest dweller), and Saṅyāsa (renunciate). It also elucidates the difference between and the reason for meditating upon Saguna Brahman (with form) and contemplating on Nirguṇa Brahman (without form).
Concluding the sanyāsa mantra, we move on to verse 5, 6 & 7 which talks about meditation. This Upanishad is unique in that sense, it teaches meditation before the knowledge. This episode includes a 20 minute guided meditation.
What is the connection between renunciation and immortality? Who is a sanyāsi? What is the proper effort required and what do they gain by renunciation? This episode elucidates further on the the Sanyāsa Mantra.
This episode expounds on the famous Sanyāsa Mantra. Tyāga, renunciation is added to the previous three qualifications of shraddhā, Bhakti and Dhyanām, required for this knowledge.
Why is the knowledge of Self the most exalted? What is grace and how does it operate? Listen and Learn!

Learning to rise above body-consciousness, knowing yourself as a spiritual being, you are free. As a soul, you experience spiritual freedom. From the early archives of Spiritual Awakening Radio and now shared for the first time with the podcast world, a program dedicated to one of the great spiritual classics of Sant Mat spirituality called, The Philosophy of Liberation (Moksha-Darshan), A Manuel of Sant Mat Mysticism, by Maharishi Mehi , on the Goals and Practices of the Sant Tradition of India , translated into English by Professor Veena Howard . There are several techniques described, the specific details of which are taught to students at the time of their deeksha (initiation) into the meditation practice: 1) developing a daily routine, the habit of meditating at the same time or times each day; 2) proper posture so that one is truly focused at the Third Eye and remains alert and awake; 3) Manas Japa (Simran), a mantra repetition of a sacred word done mentally; 4) Manas Dhyan, the technique of mentally visualizing a form of God or one's teacher; 5) Drshti Yoga, the technique of focusing upon an Infinitesimal Point (Inner Light Meditation). This Point will eventually blossom into inner Light or visions of Light. One gazes into the middle of the darkness or the Light one sees while in meditation. Think of the Infinitesimal Point as being like a laser pointer or cursor keeping one focused. One passes from scene to scene and vision to vision always looking toward the center; 6) Nada Sadhana (Surat Shabd Yoga, Inner Sound Meditation), the practice of inner spiritual hearing; and, 7th) reaching the State of Kaivalya, Oneness with the Supreme Being in the Pure Conscious Realm. The ultimate goal is to merge into the upper level of Kaivalya known as Sabdatita [Sabtatit] Pad – the State beyond the Sound, the Ultimate Reality of God in the Nirguna or Formless State, also described with terms such as Anami (Nameless), Anadi (Soundlessness), and Ocean of Love. In this episode of For the Wild, Ayana and returning guest Dr. Vandana Shiva discuss the crumbling of the colonial paradigm and the promise of re-commoning the commons for our collective future. Situating us in the exigency of food and seed sovereignty for our present time, Dr. Shiva reminds us that seeds and living systems are not open access systems to be privatized, patented, or exploited. Rather, the commons are central to all of life. In this multifaceted episode, we discuss threats to the commons by Big Tech; the brilliance and sophistication of Indigenous seed cultures and breeding, the toxicity of GMO crops for our bodies and the planet, the benefits of agroecological farming, and the need for diversity in our ecosystems and justice movements. Tying the green-washed quest by tech barons to digitalize the world to legacies of colonialism and imperialism under a similar “civilizing” mission, Dr. Shiva warns that the ruling class operates from a place of fear of any being alive and free on their own terms. We end this conversation with a call to a paradigm shift away from capitalism, control and fear to one of partnership with the earth. Vandana Shiva is a world-renowned environmental thinker and activist, a leader in the International Forum on Globalisation and of the Slow Food Movement. Founder of Navdanya and of the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology, and a tireless crusader for farmers', peasants', and women's rights, she is author and editor of many influential books, including two from Synergetic Press, Reclaiming the Commons: Biodiversity, Indigenous Wisdom, and the Rights of Mother Earth (2020) and the forthcoming Philanthrocapitalism and the Erosion of Democracy: A Global Citizens' Report on the Corporate Control of Technology, Health, and Agriculture, which is slated for release in February 2022.
