Hello, and welcome to Entangled! The podcast where we explore the science of consciousness, the true nature of reality, and what it means to be a spiritual being having a human experience.I'm your host, Jordan Youkilis, and in this episode, I share my capstone paper. I wrote this essay to complete my Master of Arts in Consciousness & Human Potential at Maharishi International University last month. This paper is titled “Is Consciousness the Unified Field? Evidence for a New Paradigm of Reality”.The capstone prompt was “The Application of Maharishi Vedic Science to Solve a Problem in Society.” The final research paper explores practical outcomes of Maharishi Vedic Science — how the principles brought out by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi can practically address current problems, such as education, government, school violence, PTSD, striving from full human development, need for creativity, etc.In “Is Consciousness the Unified Field?”, I propose that the Vedic concept of the field of pure consciousness and the self-interacting field of modern string theory are one and the same. I first describe the history of our current paradigm of reality, one defined by materialism, reductionism, and determinism. I then highlight anomalous phenomena which do not fit the materialist paradigm, including the hard problem of consciousness, the paradoxes of quantum mechanics, quantum entanglement, the mystical experience, and higher states of consciousness.I then argue that consciousness is fundamental, and that matter is the illusion. Next, I explain how these anomalous phenomenon can be explained by a consciousness-based paradigm of reality as proposed by Maharishi Vedic Science. The main question we'll be answering in this episode is: Is the brain the producer of consciousness or the receiver of it? To answer this question, we'll explore the two primary theories on consciousness—the reductionist or materialist model and the holographic, spiritualist, or non-local model. The CIA did secret research on astral projection and questioned if we're living in a holographic universe. If that weren't enough, the CIA even recruited people to train them on achieving different states of consciousness. Why? They wanted to attempt to time travel back into the past to see events, or look into the future to see what would happen. And this isn't a rumor or conspiracy theory: There were pages declassified from the CIA's archives, and now, one mysterious document is available. One of the pages was originally omitted, but Ben and Rob hunted it down. Some of the conclusions that the CIA came to are literally out of this world.    The governmental agency also studied how transcendental meditation affects the body, and they monitored the flow of energy in people's bodies. Did they gain any understanding of how we're all connected to the universe? The report was written by US Army Lieutenant Colonel Wayne M. McDonnell, with  technical assistance from mastermind Israeli-American biomedical engineer Itzhak Bentov. A man by the name of Robert Monroe led the research, and interestingly, he later founded an organization called The Monroe Institute to study consciousness.   The CIA's document explained how they listened to certain rhythms and beats, which we now call binaural beats. They found that brain waves change as a person listens, inducing a meditative state and making it easier for REM sleep. What are the implications of that research?
