Arielle shares her experience with her women's mastermind, which helps women connect with their erotic energy. We discuss the need for sexual healing and liberation in mainstream culture and the impact of shame on our relationship with sexuality. Sometimes the best business ideas are hereditary. And I don't mean family businesses. Every family has a secret sauce or skill: maybe a green thumb or a gift for gab. Turning the family tradition into a business may not be so easy — unless you've inherited the entrepreneurial gene. That's because everyone is trying to sell the family recipe these days. Especially in Acadiana, where every last name seems to have a seasoning blend. But not every spice entrepreneur knows krav maga, like Kisha Formica. Spice Kisha is maybe best known for Kitchen Bravo, her online cooking and recipe brand. It started as a hobby, a way to share her love of cooking with the world wide web. But it's also become a vehicle to sell Gunpowder Spice, based on a blend developed by her grandfather, who was an avid game hunter. The product has been a family staple for decades, but it was Kisha who brought it to market in 2022, packaging it in a bottle shaped like a shotgun shell and a pair of dueling pistols — all of it a nod to her grandfather's love of hunting. Kisha is from the Lafayette area and also teaches krav maga. Skincare If you pick up a product by Bea's Bayou Skincare, you're buying a little homage to Arielle Brown's grandmother, Beatrice. Beatrice was an herbalist and an entrepreneur in her own right, known for her legendary pies. When Arielle began making skin products, she turned to her grandmother's gift for horticulture for inspiration. The result: a line of creams, serums and solutions made with Louisiana plants like saw palmetto, blue green algae, sassafras, nettle and sugar cane. Arielle's flagship product — Good Biome Scalp Relief Solution — was developed as a salve for her own skin issues. The solution took off on Etsy and spurred Arielle to expand her product line. Arielle has turned the concept into a successfully formula, winning thousands in funding from pitch competitions like Fund Black Founders and the Essence and Aveeno Skin Health Pitch. Arielle is also a social worker and real estate agent and grew up in Lafayette. Out to Lunch Acadiana was recorded live over lunch at Tsunami Sushi in downtown Lafayette. If you go to the drug store and check out the hair and skin-care aisles, you'll find shelves crammed with products. There seems to be a product for every conceivable hair type and skin condition. But, actually, there's not. Even one of the most successful brands, Aveeno, which is owned by Johnson & Johnson, is on the lookout for new products. So much so, that they sponsor a new product search, and even have a business accelerator to help nurture up-and-coming skin care entrepreneurs. Bea's Bayou In 2022, the winner of the $100,000 Aveeno product search, and member of the Aveeno Accelerator, was a New Orleans company called Bea's Bayou Skincare. The company makes a line of skin, scalp and hair care products that use fermented and herbal ingredients formulated to work with the skin's natural microflora. The founder and creator of the creams and potions at Bea's Bayou Skincare is Arielle Brown. Bomb Ass Fro We've gotten so used to giant companies owning multiple brands that it's kind of quaint these days to talk about a company that only makes one product. But it's worth remembering, there was a time when Coca Cola only made Coca Cola. Ford Motors only made Ford automobiles. And Apple made a computer. Sydni Raymond's company, Bomb Ass Fro, only makes a single hair jelly. The product has no harmful ingredients, promises lasting results, is extremely affordable, and allows Black women to wear their natural hair without the added expense of multiple products or complicated application methods. And, in case you're skeptical about the comparison to Coke, Ford, and Apple, Sydni's Bomb Ass Fro is so massively popular that she can't produce enough of it to keep up with nationwide demand. When You're The One-in-a-Million Most people like to be encouraging. Especially in entrepreneurship where the going is tough and rewards can be a long time coming. We've all heard the supportive cliches – “Follow your dreams.” “Never give up.” “Trust your crazy ideas.” “Somebody has to be the one-in-a-million; it could be you.” But, to be honest, most of us never believe any of that reassuring advice is any more than just magical thinking. Then, along come Arielle Brown and Sydni Raymond. Apparently dreams can in fact come true. If you believe in coincidence it's extraordinary that Arielle and Sydni are both from New Orleans, they're both in business at the same time, and they're both equally talented and successful. It doesn't hurt that they're also hard-working, and have developed real products that actually work. Along with the rest of New Orleans - and the entire hair and skin care industry – we can only look forward to following their continued success. Out to Lunch is recorded live over lunch at NOLA Pizza in the NOLA Brewing Taproom. This week's show is with Arielle Brown. Arielle Brown is a well known Intimacy Coach, Embodiment Guide and an Alignment Mentor. She is a teacher, facilitator, and ceremonialist specializing in energetic alignment, relational alchemy, and authentic communication skills. Arielle Brown guides visionary entrepreneurs, leaders, and creators towards embodying their full authentic self in leadership through healing and reclaiming disowned or suppressed aspects of their sexuality. Arielle's work is in service to helping humanity come into right relationship with truth and power–and in particular how we wield those life-giving forces in love and leadership–which ultimately begins with re-establishing our inherent connection to the Sacred. The private mentorship, mastermind, and membership containers Arielle holds create powerful, connected, and compassionate spaces to release distorted ways of relating with Self and Other rooted in shame, fear, scarcity, and self-abandonment, so we can be embodied blueprints leading the way in love for the world we wish to create. In this conversation, Arielle and I explored desire and how it can be a compass for our highest destiny, our soul path. We spoke about the different kinds of desire, the way fear shows up, and how to hold ourselves through the gauntlets desire will take us through. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment below or share in our fb group. What you'll learn from this episode: There's compensatory desire that comes from wounding - the kind that compels us towards experiences that aren't for our higher good or that of the whole, and there's pure desire, which is how our soul is showing is what's for us. It's typical that pure desire will show up with fear too… we will need to bring awareness to the ways fear is distorting our behavior as we move toward what we desire. In order to create (and actually, to be created anew ourselves), we also have to release and allow to die what's no longer aligned… we need to grieve in order to receive pleasure. In this conversation, Arielle and I explored the role of high sensation experiences in service of personal growth. What kinds of experiences they are, the reasons for choosing them and what they can bring in terms of both wanted and unwanted impacts, and how we can become more conscious of our choices. What you'll learn from this episode: High sensation experiences include taking part in medicine ceremonies, experiences that expand our relationship to our sexuality, and high cost mentoring containers. Whilst sometimes high sensation experiences can be completely aligned, there are times when they can be chosen from a fearful need for looking cool, not to be left out, or to meet someone else's expectations or desires. When choosing into high sensation experiences, being able to make the most of the opportunity they present and create the integration afterwards, it is hugely beneficial to have a deep devotion to staying attuned to our nervous system, really listening to what we feel and what we need. In this episode, Kate and Haje interview Arielle Brown. Reducing this episode to ‘phone sex’ is like saying that a three-Michellin-star meal is about ‘absorbing nutrients’ - what was meant to be a Valentines-themed guide to how to make erotic connection happen from a distance turned into something far deeper - and far yummier - than we would have dared hope for. We think you’re going to love this one… Arielle is a teacher of intimacy, sexuality, and embodied communication. In this episode, Rob welcomes long-time friend and colleague Arielle Brown to discuss the premise for the workshop that they held on June 17th 2020. Arielle describes the workshop as follows: “The degree of power and influence we have in our life is directly related to the amount of sensation we can hold in our body. Similarly, the level of ability we have to create real, authentic connection in our lives is directly related to our ability to hold polarity within our body. To “hold polarity”, in my definition, means to be able to hold (at least) two perspectives, truths, or belief systems within our awareness that seem to DIRECTLY conflict with each other. The cultivation of holding polarity is a practice in personal mastery, because in a world that has taught us to believe that being “right” is what creates safety, allowing ourselves to consider and hold a perspective that directly challenges our belief systems is a great threat to our (Ego) identity. Robert Kandell and I have built much of our respective bodies of work around intimacy, sexuality, communication, and human relating, on the premise that true safety is based on our ability to be CONNECTED in our relationships, rather than being RIGHT.” 3:09 – The motivation for Rob and Arielle’s workshop 6:43 – Being honest with your partner and yourself 11:23 – Different speeds of evolution in relationships 13:36 – Doing inner work and how it affects relationships 16:48 – What is distortion? 17:56 – Jealousy and polarity 23:24 – Why did Rob start this work? 30:17 – What do men need? 32:53 – Women holding space for men 36:04 – The impact of shifts in relationships on sex 41:19 – Their workshop To get a flavor of what was covered, check out these videos: What Does it Mean When Something Is Polarizing?: What does it mean when something is "polarizing"? We can’t share our gifts when we live with the fear of losing love and having to fit ourselves into “boxes of appropriateness.” Often women believe they need shape themselves into something they’re not. Arielle asks the question, “Who am I and how do I release the fear of how other people perceive me?” She says that doing this kind of work is the only way we can change the current culture around relationships and intimacy. Arielle shares her personal journey; filled with negative body image, sexual obsessions, an unhealthy relationship with food and emotionally abusive and toxic relationships with men. Her personal transformation journey has been filled with learning true intimacy and sexual healing practices. Her healing work centers on helping people figure out where they are carrying underlying beliefs that undermine the power we seek to embrace and cultivate; which leads to liberating what society teaches you to shut down and conform. Our conversation also covers simple and practical ways to play with relationship in ways that allow for full expression of self. We discuss how to find balance between controlling desires and the art of being in command of them. Arielle shares her approach to communicate openly and shift dynamics around sexual intimacy. Connecting deeper and exploring intimacy requires self-love and compassion--- we all need more of that. Women body shaming themselves because society is telling them that they don’t fit it in with their size and shape has become a norm rather than the exception. But part of that society is telling that your reality is what and how you make it if you work around how you relate your body, this translates to how you make a relationship with your life. Start living in your body instead of your head. Mastering your reality starts when you start ripping off the one thing that you’re trying to fit in.

Women become empowered and inspired when they tap into things they normally would just hide from other women, like negative emotions of physical imperfections. This idea of competition between women starts early when little girls start to swim in a pool of jealousy and comparison. But as grown women, we can choose to reframe this scarcity mindset into a passion, learning, creativity and positive energy. If we really look at ourselves and see what we really look like, there is no need to look for the validation of others.

Present-day women are faced with the challenge of balancing between their feminine and masculine side. While they lean towards their stronger and independent side in the workplace and social circles, they still want to stay connected with their soft and finer side. A lot of women actually like letting down their hair sometimes, taking the backseat, and releasing control over to men. Arielle and Jamie talk about what it takes to be a woman in today’s world and share that vulnerability and surrender doesn’t necessarily mean weakness.

The dark side of the Goddess movement touches on this edgy aspect of searching for your sensuality and humanity. While it has the word “dark” in its name, this movement is still a pursuit of enlightenment. By acknowledging this dark side, you also acknowledge your imperfections and negative aspects of your life like being selfish and greedy. This in turn will lead to better understanding your desires and intuition.

There is this place of owning the experience, taking charge and mastering the relationship and not be just a damsel in distress.

Checking in if a woman is still a “yes” until she is a “no” is a complicated discussion in itself. Knowing and respecting boundaries puts value on a woman, making her feel that she is an amazing person. However, men have to be conscious that they have this level of impact in the lives and experiences of women that is unseen yet very powerful. Saying yes or no doesn’t mean anything unless you make it mean something. Tuff Love expands its reach with a new series called “Six Conversations Between…” Weekly, two people will be having unfiltered and raw conversations around topics that exist between all of us: Love, communication, sexuality, and more. For our first series of six, I am joined by Arielle Brown for ‘Six Conversations between a Woman and a Man’. We dive RIGHT into the deep end of the pool by discussing boundaries, consent and power dynamics. With the explosion of the ‘Weinstein Effect’ and #MeToo, there was a lot to talk about. We engage in deep conversation about our own experiences, our own relationship to power and how we recommend you can engage with it.

f you've taught for any time what so ever, you've probably suffered through painfully boring student presentations. And if you were bored, think of the other students. Let’s strive to make such presentations are:More attractiveMore engagingLess time-consumingMore interactiveIn order to create such presentations, your kids must first run the gauntlet.According to various sources, fifteen to twenty words is the average sentence length. That seemed long, till I actually wrote a sentence:When I was in high school, I would have laughed uproariouslyif anyone had informed me that I was destined to be a teacher. (24 words)This will be a wonderful challenge for your students. They may revolt. Not only is it important to reduce the number of words, the limit will also hopefully dissuade copying and pasting. This awful practice flirts with plagiarism and makes for exceedingly dull presentations as students drone the words of another.

Welcome back to Tuff Love with Rob Kandell. Saying the truth and generally trying to get some good nookie into the world. On the previous episode Rob talked about a man’s ego and it kicked his ass in a positive way. So when it came to doing a show about a woman’s ego, it scared the shit out of him. Even though Rob could tackle it in an entertaining and somewhat informative way, he felt it would be much more powerful to ask his friend Arielle Brown. Arielle is a coach who specifically helps people create the relationship that they truly want but have never experienced. Along with one-on-one coaching, she facilitates groups called Essential Intimacy, where a bunch of people gather together and play some different communication games that allow you to reveal your true essence. She helps people create authentic, real relationships that have meaning and substance and juice. Love the show? Subscribe, rate, review, and share!
