You want friends. You NEED friends. But you keep thinking about all the previous friendships that didn't work out. Or, perhaps a bad relationship has shaken your confidence in yourself and in forming new relationships. Maybe you grew up in a toxic or unhealthy family and never really learned how to form healthy relationships. You might even be playing the same old unhealthy scenarios in your mind over and over and over again. Sounds like you might have baggage. And that baggage could be holding you back from establishing and maintaining healthy friendships. If you want to hear more about how baggage might be ruining your friendships before they even get started, check out this full episode. If you feel like baggage really, truly is the problem, and you need help dealing with it, please contact a qualified therapist or counselor in your area. Have you ever met someone who seemed nice, engaged with her a few times, then something happened that made you think, “NOPE! This friendship isn't for me.” Perhaps that happened to you. You met, hung out, then nada - you never heard from her again. What happened??? We all have our relationship warning signs or red flags - the things that make us think the relationship just won't work out. And other people have them, too. And, that's okay! Those little warning signs are how we protect ourselves from relationships that just aren't right for us - for whatever reason. When you see the warning signs, what do you do? Do you try to power through and build a friendship anyway (not advised) or do you move on to someone who might be a better fit for you? Everyone is different, and everyone has their own relationship warning signs. In this episode, I share five of the warning signs I just can't ignore when making new friends. You may have a different list, but it IS important to give some thought to which behaviors and habits you will and will not tolerate in a relationship. Then, if you're serious about making and keeping friends, consider if there's anything YOU'RE doing that might be a turnoff to others. Next Steps: Listen to the episode. If you like the episode, share it with a friend or on social media. Leave a comment about the episode in the Women, Community, and Facebook group. Talking about friendship is a lot more fun when I get to hear YOUR thoughts, too. Do you like this episode? It features one-of-a-kind questions from Chion's friend, Ashley Cook. Have you ever been left out? Maybe you weren't invited to the birthday party or to brunch with the girls. Perhaps your cousins left you off of the group chat or maybe your coworkers didn't tell you about happy hour after work. Maybe it was intentional, maybe it wasn't. Maybe it hurt you a lot, maybe you didn't care all that much. Maybe you pretended not to care all that much. Whatever the case, it happened. It's possible you weren't exactly left out, but life has you feeling a bit left behind. Perhaps your best friend got married and another friend had a baby. These life transitions might have you feeling left out or like you're somehow on the outside looking in - even if it's not really anyone's fault. The truth is, we've all been left out. It starts in childhood, and it never really ends. When we're left out, it's only natural to get in our feelings, but don't stay there! Being left out and feeling left out is a part of life, albeit an unpleasant part. If and when it happens to you, just remember - you are not alone. We've all been there. Join guest, Lauren Gray and me for a discussion about times we felt left out and left behind. Do you often feel angry, sad, frustrated, annoyed, drained, confused, or just…some kind of way when you interact with a certain friend or friends? Maybe you need to check your boundaries. Boundaries are the physical, mental, emotional, and other limits that protect our personal space and define how we interact with others. They help us feel safe as individuals in all areas of our lives. They help us protect the people and things that are important to us, including our finances, our time with family, our self care - the list goes on and on. How do you know you need a boundary? I'll give you a hint. Pay attention to that icky or uncomfortable feeling you have after you interact with someone. Take note of the confusion you feel when you're together, then do something about it. Join Ashley Cook, Associate Marriage Family Therapist (AMFT133670), and me for a talk about boundaries - what they are, why we need them, and how we establish them. Why? Because healthy boundaries are a huge part of maintaining healthy friendships and protecting personal peace. About Ashley Cook: She is a copywriter and copy coach who helps people sell their programs or service. She comes alongside and supports impact-driven entrepreneurs who want to make a difference in this world. In this episode, Chabidaye and Ashley discuss:Perfecting your business Systems and processes that work Mindset can make or break your businessDon't DIY your inner work Key Takeaways:Perfectionism can paralyze you when launching a business. You have to launch it and accept that it will be imperfect at the beginning then commit to perfecting your business through improvement and adjustment. As we learn, grow, and experiment in our businesses, we need to keep track of the processes, methods, and systems that work and slowly establish our own guardrails in order to reinforce growth and sustainability in our business. Your mindset, your hang-ups, and your attitude affect everything about your business. That's why doing your inner work is a priority if you want your business to keep growing. The first step towards breaking free of our limiting beliefs is being aware of them, this is a problem as we aren't always aware of what's in our blindspots. We need the guidance of a coach in order to bring things into full awareness and follow through with transformation. Ashley Cook believes anyone can be an artist but that's only because art and design come so naturally for this New Jersey native. An "art school drop-out," and reluctant professional interior designer, Ashley's true passion lies in working with dogs and creating something out of nothing with her hands. She truly loves an underdog, whether she be adopting her foster, Captain, and helping him get a handle of his social and health challenges or bringing new life into her home, furniture, and one-of-a-kind garbage finds. In episode 21, Isabel gauges what part of NJ Ashley lives in during "Which New Jersey Are You?," a game based on Isabel's husband, Chris', experience as a Philadelphian and New Yorker. Turns out, Chris guessed right and Ashley lives in a NYC suburb in Northern NJ. Ashley talks about her clientele, her experience during the one year she worked as an interior designer, and what makes her tick. Ashley knows dogs as well as she knows art and this episode is perfect for anyone that has a love for all things dogs and beauty. EPISODE NOTES: Art, Design & Dogs

We welcome back Ashley Cook who is a dual diagnosis therapist and Nicolette Pianelli who is a recovering addict and has been sober for 20 months. We get to sit in and experience a live therapy session. The bravery and honesty to be so open for the world to see is beyond words. Nicolette says that for the past 5 years she has seen a lot of therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists and she always felt that they did not care and just wanted to prescribe medicine. When Nicolette met Ashley it felt like she really cared and wanted her to thrive and flourish. She wasn’t just another number. At the beginning of the therapy session Ashley wants Nicolette to process through the last six months. We get to be front and center as this therapy session continues through all the ups and downs Nicolette has experienced in the last six months. They discuss trauma and illness, the death of her ex-boyfriend, the break up of a boyfriend and everything that all these ups and downs entail.Ashley explains that you have to have all three things working together spirituality physically and mentally. The whole studio gets teary when Ashley tells Nicolette that she sees so much of her younger self in her and she’s trying to save her. We learned that sobriety and emotional sobriety is a life long process.Everything happens for a reason and we are certain that Nicolette had to go through all her experiences to meet Dr. Mossimo at Etherhealth and he inspired Nicolette to now double major in neuroscience and psychology because she wants to be just like him.You can contact Ashley cook at compassionate solutions.
We welcome back Ashley Cook who is a dual diagnosis therapist and Nicolette Pianelli who is a recovering addict and has been sober for 20 months. We all believe that Ashlee saved Nicolette’s life but Ashley says you have to want your life to be saved to be able to save it.Ashley believes there is still a lot of stigma around therapy.. Ashley then shares her exciting news about her engagement.Nicolette tells us that she is moving out of her sober house and into her older sisters house and tells us all about what sober houses are.She then shares the devastating news about her ex-boyfriend’s death from an accidental drug overdose. She found out while on a family vacation and she takes us through the moments when she found out and the moments after. She talks about some of the problems that she had with her ex boyfriend of eight years and that there were also so many positives and that her boyfriend called her and apologized for a lot of things before he died and she’s very happy about that. She tells us that it was Tommy who told her middle sister that she had relapsed and her sister found needles in her purse and in essence Thommy possibly saved her life by doing that.Nicolette‘s mom will always be grateful for for that. Nicolette always hoped that her and Tommy would get married one day and have children and live happily ever after. We ask her if she is in danger of relapsing with these devastating news but what she tells us will surprise you.Nicolette wants everyone to know that it’s easy to write people off that are addicted but sometimes people forget there’s a person behind that addict and she hopes that people will not give up on addicts and she’s lucky that her parents never gave up on her.
