Lst chance for Film Fest tickets: https://buytickets.at/thedopeyfoundation/2216905 PAtreon: www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast This week on Dopey, Dave opens the show with a meditation on the Rolling Stones' “Monkey Man,” junkie music, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, and the impossibility of legally buying an MP3 in 2026. He also gets hyped for the first Dopey Short Recovery Film Festival, talks about bringing big ideas into reality through recovery, and reminds listeners to reach out for Narcan, fentanyl test strips, treatment help, stories, and voicemails. Then Dopey Nation delivers some truly insane listener stories: Danny B writes in about smoking crack and accidentally pulling a red-hot cherry through his stem into the back of his throat; JD D. Hart tells an all-time bath salts story involving paranoia, hiding drugs in his ass, a stuck vial, friends rescuing it with surgical gloves, and somehow winding up with hepatitis A, E, and C; and another listener shares a meth-fueled poop-in-a-bowl story that ends with shattered glass and hard poop in the basement. Dave also reads Patreon and Spotify comments on the Mishka Shubaly episode, including reactions to resentment, God, Trump, Mark Lanegan, liquid meth, the Bailey Dopey theme song, and whether Mishka came off as brilliant, annoying, or both. Then Dave sits down with beauty creator, recovery advocate, and Moda Smile founder Dean Moda for one of the most powerful and intense interviews in Dopey history. Dean talks about growing up in Brooklyn with Trinidadian and Panamanian parents, being gay, getting bullied, discovering weed, FIT, early sex work, squatting in Bushwick, and eventually being unknowingly introduced to crystal meth during a traumatic hookup that ended in sexual assault. Dean shares how that night opened the door to years inside New York's chemsex scene, where crystal meth, sex, shame, danger, and trauma became impossible to separate. He talks about meth psychosis, paranoia, hallucinations, PCP-laced joints, treatment attempts, relapse, Greenhouse Treatment Center in Texas, Crystal Meth Anonymous, and the moment he finally understood that one hit would always lead to more. It is a brutal, funny, honest, deeply vulnerable story of trauma, addiction, identity, survival, and recovery — plus somehow, teeth whitening. PLUS MORE MORE MORE! So auch auf seinem neuen Album "No Country For Old Grim", das morgen erscheint.

Nicht weil man feiern will.

In this episode, a former drug trafficker "Fernando" breaks down how crystal meth from Mexico's most violent region flooded small-town America — and how he lived at the center of it. Raised in a multi-generation trafficking family tied to Michoacán, Fernando reveals how meth labs in Mexico, tight-knit immigrant networks, and overlooked U.S. towns created one of the most devastating drug pipelines in modern history. From burying cash in the ground to moving hundreds of pounds before age 20, this is an unfiltered look at the business, culture, and consequences of the meth trade. Fernando discusses: -Why Michoacán became the epicenter of crystal meth -How cartel families expand into small U.S. towns -The economics of meth vs cocaine -Gambling, narco culture, and “front” businesses -How federal cases are quietly built for years -Life inside federal prison and the cost to family -Why leaving the game is harder than entering it This episode is raw, detailed, and brutally honest — a firsthand account of how an entire system operates in plain sight. Good news isn't always light. It is brave, uncomfortable and deeply human. It lives in places where people are doing everything they can to give children a second chance at a childhood. On this week's Good Things with Brent Lindeque, we sit down with Pastors Steven and Sharon Lamprecht, the founders of Hopelands. What they have built is rooted in compassion, consistency and an unshakeable belief that every child deserves safety, dignity and love. Steven and Sharon bring a lifetime of experience into this work. After spending many years in the corporate sector, they transitioned into full-time ministry and have now served for more than 40 years. That journey eventually led them to Hopelands... a place that exists for babies and toddlers who have already experienced far too much, far too soon. Hopelands is based in Magaliesburg and is home to abandoned and vulnerable babies and toddlers. The home is approved by the Department of Health and the Department of Social Development and can accommodate up to 13 children between the ages of 0 and 3, from all races. At the moment, nine little ones fill the space with life, routine and care. Each child arrived with a story. One baby came to Hopelands when he was just three days old. The team did not know if he would survive. He was born with Crystal Meth in his system. Another baby, only a few weeks old, was found alone in a shack with nothing but water. No one knows how long she had been there. Another arrived with broken bones, barely two months old. And one little child, just four months old, arrived with cigarette burns covering his tiny body. When I went to give him a hug, I could feel the bumps all over him. His plushy little pyjamas, bright in colour, didn't hide the horror of what he had been through. And yet, Hopelands is not defined by trauma. It is defined by what happens next. “Our heart is to ensure we raise these babies and toddlers to be champions, so they can dream again,” the Lamprechts say. That belief shapes every decision they make. It shows up in the structure, the care, the patience and the way each child is seen not for where they came from, but for who they can become. It involves taking illegal and addictive substances like Crystal Meth and GHB. While the programme hears from some who say they can manage their use and it heightens their sexual pleasure, others are falling into destructive patterns of addiction, decline and even death. Reporter Mobeen Azhar tries to assess the scale of the problem and hears from medical professionals who fear it could be a crisis that's going under the radar. In the next "thought", actor Robert Hands shares his journey of quitting crystal meth. There was no sudden epiphany, no grand moment of realisation—just a simple conversation that shifted everything. Through the haze of addiction, he heard someone say, "I'm stopping," and, somehow, that gave them permission to try too. But this wasn't a story of instant success. The cravings remained, the struggle felt endless, and hope was nowhere to be found. The early days of sobriety were brutal. Sleep was almost impossible, and the urge to use never truly disappeared but one simple strategy that kept him going: just make it to bedtime without using. It wasn't about long-term recovery or a bigger goal—just surviving the next few hours. Each clean day became a small victory. Fourteen days turned into fifteen, then sixteen. Without even realising it, he had moved beyond his usual relapse point and entered unfamiliar territory. If you are struggling with addiction or feeling completely hopeless, this short clip is for you. My guest has a message for anyone in that place of darkness: just focus on getting through today. Get to bed tonight without using. Hope will come, even if you don't believe it yet. Recovery isn't always about feeling strong or inspired—it's about taking it one day at a time.About the “THOUGHT” series -Every other Monday at 5 PM, I'll bring you a quick ‘thought'—a powerful moment from previous episodes designed to kickstart your week with insight, motivation, and connection. On today's Daily Puck Drop, we cover the incident involving Yankees manager Aaron Boone and home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt. if you didn't see it or hear it, Wendelstedt ejected Boone for something he thought he heard from the dugout but video footage showed it was actually a fan in the stands sitting behind the dugout. Wendelstedt doubled down after the game with a pool reporter and claimed it came from the Yankees dugout. MLB needs to do somthing about their umpire problem. it continues to erode the integrity of the game. NFL draft coming up on Thursday, we have Danny Kelly from The Ringer on the show later today. Kelly's episode drops at 1pm on all platforms. What should the Seahawks do at 16? Agree with Kelly, if Troy Fautanu is there, you run to the podium and make him the selection, even if Michael Penix is available, still take Fautanu! There is no doubt that one, two or three of these quarterbacks taken in the first round will not work. Who will it be? I think that quarterback will be Jayden Daniels. I explain in today's show. Last thing on the draft, "Puck's Draft Watch Party" coming up Thursday at 5pm. We'll broadcast live on YouTube: PuckSports and on X/Twitter @Puck2040, in addition at PuckSports.com. My guests include, Mike Garafolo, NFL Network, who will be in the network studios in Los Angeles tracking all the picks and trades. NO ONE will have that access! Also joining on Thursday are: Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com, Bob Condotta, Seattle Times. Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 and Tim Booth, Associated Press. NBA playoffs were unreal last night...Jamal Murray game winner vs. Lakers and Donte DiVincenzo against the Knicks. Just remarkable games last night. Coach Karl talked about his visit to OKC and how it felt going there for the first time. Plus, his thoughts on today's game and where he ranks Nikola Jokic among the all-time greats. Ron Francis met with the media and certainly didn't give Dave Hakstol a ringing endorsement. Was it Hakstol's fault or the GM who put the team together?New weight loss drug? Crystal Meth?
