Christians Are to Reflect Jesus in Their Lives and To Be at Peace with God - Blessed are the Peacemakers   MESSAGE SUMMARY: God, through Jesus the Christ, gave us the ministry of reconciliation. In Jesus, God was reconciling the world to Himself and not counting their trespasses or sins against them, as Paul tells us in  2 Corinthians 5:18-21: “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”. God entrusted us with the message of reconciliation; therefore, we are “ambassadors for Christ”. We are implored, on behalf of Christ, to be reconciled with God and to live a life like someone who has been given the opportunity to reflect Jesus in their life and to be at peace with God. Blessed are the peacemakers – ambassadors of God’s peace.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, My life is about Christ. (Philippians 1:21). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Romans 5:11; Mathew 5:12; Luke 1:30-35; Psalms 108:1-13. “the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” and Trying to Get Your Rejection of God              MESSAGE SUMMARY:   The enemy is always at work seeking to destroy the fruit of the Lord’s field and your life. In John10:10, Jesus tells us: “The thief {enemy} comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”. In 1 Peter 5:8, Peter tells you more about your enemy who is always with you: “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil {enemy} prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”. Continue to remember that the enemy is always attempting to mess you up and to destroy your witness. Also, the enemy is always attempting to destroy your relationship with God and to get you to reject God. The enemy does his evil in subtle ways, but his purpose is clear -- the enemy wants you off the right path. The enemy is always at work, and he never sleeps.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Self-Centeredness. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Love. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). God Is Sovereign; He Gives Government Offices “to whom he will”, Even if They Are “the lowliest of men” THIS DEVOTIONAL INTENTIALLY DUPLICATED FROM 10/4/20   MESSAGE SUMMARY: Political discord and uncertainty surround us in all directions today. Without Jesus in our lives, we have reasons to be anxious and fearful. However, Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:31: “Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.”. The next years may hurt our pride, wallets, and/or our freedom. On the other hand, we should not let the current political environment hinder our resolve to continue in our fearless faith in the truth; our constant hope in the future; and our radical love for our neighbors. God has a plan; and, regardless of how things look from our eyes, we must remain faithful to His purpose. Now is the time to draw near to Jesus and to advance His Kingdom. Our gaze must remain on Jesus if we want to walk on the water during the storm. God is the king of kings and the Sovereign God of the Universe. As Daniel interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel 4:17 when God told Nebuchadnezzar: “to the end that the living may know that the Most High {God} rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will and sets over it the lowliest of men.”. God told King Nebuchadnezzar and us, too, that He {God} is always involved in our lives and government and that He gives the government offices “to whom he will”, even if the political processes produce “the lowliest of men {or women}”. Sometimes, we receive the elected officials we need, and sometimes we receive the elected officials that we deserve; but God is always Sovereign.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Anger. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Forgiveness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Matthew 6:31; Philippians 4:5-7; Daniel 4:17; Psalms 106c:25-36. Seeking God as the Lord of Your Life, Including All Your Finances, Will Liberate Your Life

Seeking God as the Lord of Your Life, Including All Your Finances, Will Liberate Your Life             MESSAGE SUMMARY:   We are so focused on earning money and other financially driven life activities so that it is easy for money and finances to become “our god”.  Making finances “our god” violates the Second Commandment. If Jesus is Lord over all Creation, as we are told in Psalms 24:1, then: “The earth is the LORD's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.”; therefore, everything that has been entrusted to you is God’s. In James 5:1-3, the author of the Book of James provides insight into someone who does NOT make God the Lord of their finances: “Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days.”. Therefore, let God Be Lord over your finances, which really are His finances.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, He will supply all my needs. (Philippians 4:19). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Psalms 24:1-10; James 5:1-6; Psalms 25:1-22; Psalms 45:1-17. Today, People Are Searching for Help in their Fear and Uncertainty -- Let them See Jesus in Your Life MESSAGE SUMMARY:  In 2 Corinthians 3:12-18, Paul writes a complex statement that tells you, as a follower of Jesus, about the most important tool that God gives you for communicating the Gospel -- God lets others see Jesus in you through your life in Christ! Therefore, by living in Christ, your life becomes the most compelling argument for the Gospel – an argument that far surpasses written or spoken words. Paul’s 2 Corinthians 3:12-18 text reads: “Since we have such a hope, we are very bold, not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”. Do others, from the way that you live your life, see Jesus in you?   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Compulsions. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Patience. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). You Embrace All Christians and Not Just Those Like You; Christianity Is Not a “Holy Club” Nor “Exclusive”   MESSAGE SUMMARY:   We need to welcome these new excited followers of Jesus as members of our Non-Exclusive global fellowship as a Christian. Those of us who have been brought up in the church or have been in the church for a while can get caught up in our personal righteousness. We get used to the presence of God and His peace in our lives. However, we then encounter a new follower of Jesus. This new Christian, before their conversion, was living in the ways of the world without God’s peace. Now, this new believer is so excited with their new life. However, their outward manifestation of their conversion may not “fit” with our personal Christian behavioral norms. Sadly, too many modern Christians judge and condemn these new, excited believers for their enthusiasm rather than loving, encouraging, and embracing these new followers of Jesus. We can learn from Jesus’ rebuke of the Pharisees, who exhibited similar non-supportive behavior of Christians in Matthew 5:20: “For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Hatred. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Love. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Luke 7:45-47; Matthew 5:20; Luke 11:38-39; Psalms 49b:11-20. You Can Only Enter God’s Presence when You Humble Yourself in Jesus – Lord Have Mercy on Me a Sinner   MESSAGE SUMMARY:   We do not deserve it; but we able to come to God, in a Personal Relationship with Him, because of His Mercy. We are all sinners. As Paul tells us in Romans 9:18: “So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.". With God’s Justice without His Mercy and His resulting Grace, you would face only eternal death as Justice for your sins. We can never enter God’s presence for prayer when we are in our pride with our focus on ourselves. Also, Paul reminds us, in 1 Corinthians 1:30-31, that, in your Salvation through God’s Grace, Jesus makes us “boast” only in the Grace provided us by God: “And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, ‘Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.’”. We can only enter God’s presence when we humble ourselves in Jesus. Humility and penitence before God invite His presence – here I am, Lord; just as I am; have mercy on me a sinner.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! (Luke 11:13). Christian Life Is Unfulfilled Without Jesus’ Presence; Maintain Constant Conversation with Jesus, and He Will Be Involved   MESSAGE SUMMARY: To have a Presence of the Lord in your life, you must maintain a constant conversation, through prayer, with Jesus; and you must look to see how God is involved in the events surrounding your daily life. If the Lord is in your life, then your life’s circumstances will relate to Him. The Psalmist tells us, in Psalms 100:2-5, that God is with you because He made you to: “Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to generations.". Therefore, practicing the presence of Jesus in your life helps you to stay in tune with Jesus’ influence in your life. Being in tune with Jesus presence, in your life, is like listening to an FM radio station – you must tune into the right station and then listen. Tuning into the right station, for the presence of Jesus, requires that you maintain an awareness of your circumstances and their relationship to Jesus.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I press on toward His goal for me. (Philippians 3:12f). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14). Despite All Today’s “Noise”, We Need to Thank God for His Grace, Blessings and Our Freedom to Serve Him   MESSAGE SUMMARY:  Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His Name. Our government has set aside an annual national holiday of Thanksgiving for all Americans to offer prayers for our country; our many blessings; and our special blessings for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Make no mistake, America has been blessed from its foundation, but we appear both to ignore our blessings and fail to give our thanks to God for His blessings. However, thanksgiving to God, for Christians, should be a lifestyle; and followers of Jesus should not need a special day to give thanks to the Lord. As Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 1:2-4: “We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you.”. Do you, as a Christian, need a special day to give thanks God because you get so immersed in your life outside of your relationship with God? Do you stop to give God thanks for His grace that He gives you and His blessing of a personal relationship with Him? Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His Name.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Anxiety. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Peace. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). In These Time of Fear and Loathing in America, You Should Pray: “Create in me a clean heart, O God”             MESSAGE SUMMARY:   You are called, as a Follower of Jesus, to live a life that is deeply righteous and not shallow, superficial, or hypocritical. As Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.". Your righteousness, as a Follower of Jesus, should flow from your heart and from being in communion with the Holy Spirit. You should allow the Holy Spirit to create a clean heart and a pure heart within you. The righteousness of a clean heart is the righteousness that Jesus wants of His followers, as the Psalmist tells us in Psalms 51:10-12: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Jesus Lived and Died on Earth as a Servant; Why Would Christians Not Realize They Are Expected to Serve Others? MESSAGE SUMMARY:   You will never be more like Jesus than when you are serving others; and your best way to witness to non-believers is for them to see Jesus in you. Your best example of service is Jesus - To serve is Christ. Jesus instructed us, regarding serving others, in Mark 10:45: “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”. Jesus, the Son of Man, did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. If Jesus came, lived, and died on earth as a servant, then why would you, as a follower of Jesus, not realize that you are expected to serve? If, as Paul tell us in Romans 8:28-29, we are being conformed into the image of Jesus, then we are being taught how to serve: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.". To serve is to live as a reflection, to others, of Jesus in you.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FORGIVEN. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9). Focused On Yourself and Not God or Others Keeps You Stuck in a Miserable Spiritual Condition – To Serve Is Jesus MESSAGE SUMMARY:  When we show up at our church on Sunday, what is our purpose – is it to serve or to be served? Too many of us go to church seeking what the church can do for us. Our church should provide us a place to worship Jesus in Spirit and in the truth of His Word. Also, our church should provide a chance to serve others. As Christians, are we to be served or to serve in our “Non-Sunday lives”? We are to serve others at every opportunity, and we are to seek opportunities to serve others -- To serve is Christ. We will never be more like Jesus than when we are serving others. We are all serving someone, but who are we serving; are we serving ourselves or others? In Mark 10:43b-45, Jesus explains that His followers must have mind focused on service and being a servant to others: “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”. The longer that we stay focused on ourselves and not God or others, the longer we will remain stuck in a miserable spiritual condition. To serve is Christ.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will serve others. (Philippians 2:3f). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Matthew 20:1-16; Philippians 2:21-30; Matthew 25:34-46; Psalms 99:1-9. Today, Tough Times and Feelings of Darkness Will Dominate You Without the Presence of Jesus in Your Life MESSAGE SUMMARY: Many times, you are so tempted to walk in the darkness of doom and gloom; and when you go through something difficult in your life, you walk in darkness without the presence of Jesus and His light for your life. The Apostle John, in 1 John 1:5-7, so clearly presents what it means to “walk in the presence and light of Jesus” in those times that bring fear and uncertainty into your life: “This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.". Living in the presence of Jesus means that you live in personal holiness; therefore, you are living in the light of Jesus. If You are a follower of Jesus, you can live in the presence of Jesus in your life through your prayer life, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and living with Jesus as the Lord of your life. One day, the Lord will come in judgment; but for now, you can begin now your life’s walk in the light and presence of Jesus through your prayerful personal relationship with Him.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Despair. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Joy. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): John 7:12-16; 1 John 1:5-10; 2 Corinthians 3:12-18; Psalms 103a:1-11. We Are All “Rich”, in this Country Relative to the World; Therefore, It Is Difficult for Us “to enter the Kingdom of God” MESSAGE SUMMARY: Is the current global heath, financial and economic calamities testing your faith as a follower of Jesus? In a personal financial problem, would you cling to your “wealth” like the young “ruler” in Luke 18:18, 22-24?  You and all who listen to this podcast are “financially wealthy”, in relative terms, relating to the remainder of the world’s “financial wealth”; therefore, you should take notice of Jesus’ comments to and about the “ruler” and his wealth in Luke 18:18, 22-24: “And a ruler asked him {Jesus}, ‘Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ . . . When Jesus heard this, he said to him, ‘One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.’ But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. Jesus, seeing that he had become sad, said, ‘How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!’”. As one who is “financially wealthy”, in the context of the World, is it difficult for you to follow Jesus as your Lord? If so, why? It is not beyond the realm of possibility that you could face a situation in which our economy goes off the cliff; stock values crater, jobs disappear; and life’s necessitates become scarce. Would you become sad. like the young “ruler” and turn away from God’s Grace and fail to accept Jesus as your Lord? We are all “rich” in this country; therefore, it is difficult for us all “to enter the Kingdom of God”.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Fear. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Faithfulness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Luke 18:21-27; James 5:1-6; Mathew 6:24-25; Psalms 37a:1-10. Make Wise Use of Your Limited Time on Earth, Seeking God’s Will for You Through the Holy Spirit  MESSAGE SUMMARY: If you believe that Christianity is just a bunch of rules and laws for you (all of which you cannot keep!), then you really do not know what Christianity is all about. Be filled with the Holy Spirit – all of us are filled with something. With what are you filled? The Apostle Peter, in 1 Peter 4:5-6, admonishes you to be faithful to the Gospel and to live in the Spirit like God: “but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does.". Some people are filled with the world or the devil or alcohol or drugs or materialism or their jobs or just themselves. However, you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. As you walk with the Holy Spirit, Paul instructs in Ephesians 5:15-17 to make wise use of our limited time on earth and to seek God’s will through the Holy Spirit: “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.". Come Holy Spirit; fill us with your presence and power. Are you filled with the Holy Spirit? If not, why not?   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Heartlessness. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Kindness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). As Jesus Was Taking All Sin Through God’s Grace, Jesus Cried: “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” MESSAGE SUMMARY: When, on the cross, Jesus cried out: “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46, b), At the time of Jesus crucifixion and earthly death was the only time, in all eternity, that Jesus had been separated from the Father. Jesus had always known perfect fellowship with the Father; but when He took on all our sin, His fellowship with God was broken. God, the Father, had forsaken Jesus because God cannot have anything to do with sin. Paul, in Romans 5:15, summarizes Jesus’ sacrifice and the resulting gift of God’s Grace available to us from our faith: “But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.”. Again, Paul reminds us, in 2 Corinthians 5:21, of the Grace resulting from Jesus’ sacrifice: "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.".   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will live as Jesus would. (Philippians 1:27). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): 2 Corinthians 4:7-15; Romans 4:16-17; Romans 5:15-21; Psalms 88:1-18. With New Fears Entering Your Life Today, Ask Jesus to Walk With You and With America MESSAGE SUMMARY: 1 Because the Lord is your helper and confident, you have no reason to be anxious or afraid. What can man or earthly catastrophes do to you? For this confidence, you must know who Jesus is – both in your heart and in your mind. He is the Son of God – God in the flesh. As Paul tells you in Philippians 4:4: “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.". Therefore, you do not have to worry about troubling circumstances in your life because you know that He is with you; and He will guide you no matter how dark your life seems. Jesus is the light that shines in darkness.  As Jesus tells you in Luke 12:4-5, when we have anxiety and fear in our lives, is this anxiety derivative of the right kind of fear: “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!”. Why not give God a chance to walk with you in all your life situations -- good and bad, especially when you are faced with life’s tragedies and the anxieties that result from just living your life? Jesus can turn troubling life situations and your fears into results that you cannot fathom or understand. Ultimately, the Psalmist got it right in Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.". God’s “Call to You” IS a “Call From God to You”; Are You Ready? No “Call from God” Is Too Big or Too Small for You            MESSAGE SUMMARY: No interaction with the Holy Spirit is too small for you or for God, and no Spiritual outcomes are too big for you or for God. Jesus illustrates, in the “Parable of the Mustard Seed", that big things come from small beginnings. The selection, by Jesus, of His initial twelve Apostles, led to the growth of Christianity from twelve followers to more than two billion Christians. So, when God gives you a vision or He puts on your heart to start a ministry or to visit the home bound; and you think the Spirit’s is so small or inconsequential, just remember small beginnings lead to significant outcomes through the Lord. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commissions and promises His support to His Apostles and to us; therefore, how can any call, from the Holy Spirit, be too inconsequential or unsupported for us to embrace: “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” Pray, listen, and be patient. After all, you have a personal relationship with God, the Creator of the Universe!   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Anger. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Forgiveness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. As a Christian, You Have the Means to Live, Through the Presence of God in Your Life, Like No Others MESSAGE SUMMARY: Living in the Holy Spirit sets you apart from Your fellow human beings who are living without Jesus. Most of us had great passion in our lives as we approached the age to get our driver’s license or the age of eighteen when we would be an “adult”. Why don’t we have the same kind of passion about our spiritual life or our life in living the Gospel in a personal relationship with God? Why don’t we want to grow up and mature in the Lord? As Paul tells us, in Titus2:11-13, you must focus on living a Godly life while, also, living your life in the Holy Spirit: “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”. You have the capacity to live like no one else because you have the presence of God in your life through the person of God’s gift to you as a follower of Jesus, the Holy Spirit.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM RIGHTEOUS IN GOD’S EYES. The Enemy {Satan} Is Always Attempting to Destroy Jesus’ Followers’ Relationship with God MESSAGE SUMMARY: The enemy {Satan} comes to destroy the fruit of the Lord's field. The enemy comes only to kill, to steal, or to destroy. In Matthew 13:39, Jesus explains who “the enemy” is: “and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels.". You always must be alert for the presence of the enemy in your life -- he never sleeps; and he is always attempting to mess you up. In John 10:10, Jesus explains the fundamental difference between Himself and the enemy: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.". Foremost, the enemy is attempting to destroy your relationship with God.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be anxious. Jesus’ Followers See Him as Their Only Way to Eternal Life, but the Door to Make Jesus Their Lord Is Narrow MESSAGE SUMMARY: In John 14:6, Jesus says: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one come to the Father but through me.”. In Luke 13:23-25, Jesus is asked a pivotal question; and Jesus responded: “And someone said to him, ‘Lord, will those who are saved be few?’ And he said to them, “Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’”. It is not that Jesus does not want all to be saved, it is just that the “gate”, to our Salvation and Eternal Life, is “narrow” and difficult to enter. We enter Eternal Life through Jesus and Jesus alone, and so many miss this fundamental tenant of our Christian faith; and they miss knowing Jesus – Jesus is the door, the narrow door. Neither Islam, nor Hinduism, nor just “my personal religion” is the door – Jesus is the only door. Forgiveness: Can You Think of Another of Jesus’ Attributes That Is More Critical for Healing Our Land Today? MESSAGE SUMMARY: If God has forgiven you, why do you have to confess your sins? Confession is for you so that you to forgive as the Christ forgives you. Your forgiving others means that you release others from the offense that you believe they have committed against you. Jesus set the “forgiveness standard” for you. Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:31-32: “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.". However, your forgiveness is not conditioned on the offender coming and asking you for their forgiveness – if you are like Jesus, you have already forgiven the offender. If you don’t forgive like Jesus, the offense festers and turns into resentment; and these unhealthy feelings are happening in you and not in the perceived offender because you have not forgiven your perceived offender as instructed be Jesus – “forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you”.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Hatred. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Love. “I am the vine; you are the branches. DEVOTIONAL VIDEO   MESSAGE SUMMARY: Be Strong & Courageous (Commencement -- Reformed Episcopal Seminary; Oreland, PA) In Joshua 1:9, God commands us to be strong and courageous because He is with us. Also, God gave Joshua truths that would confirm God’s support in His command of Joshua: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”. Often the Lord has called or commanded us to do something in His service, but tough decisions for us arise for us when we are not fully committed to obey God; and we fall into disobedience. When we obey God’s commands, He steps into lives with support for us to achieve His command.   Also, God instructed Joshua, in Joshua 1:6, to be “strong and courageous”: “Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.". We must be “strong and courageous” to do the will of God when we are called. Additionally, God commanded Joshua to be committed to the Word of God. Courage is acting and speaking even though you are afraid. If you follow God’s call and seek His will to live and act in His Word, there is no reason to be overcome by fear because “your God is with you wherever you go”. You get strong by exercising the “muscles” of your faith and commitment to God’s will and His word – often pushing your “commitment to God” beyond levels you thought possible. Spiritual strength comes from having God with you and in you. As a Sinner, You have “A Way Out” in this Life and Into Eternal Life – “Jesus came into the world to save sinners” MESSAGE SUMMARY:  We are all sinners, but we now have a Savior – Jesus. As Paul tells us, in 1 Timothy 1:15-16, that the Gospel provides Salvation for all followers of Jesus, including the worst of sinners -- Paul: “The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.". Also, Paul, in 1 Timothy 2:3b-6, further points out that God wants all of us to be saved by His Grace through Jesus if we only, as sinners like Paul, reach out to bring Jesus into our lives: God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.”. It is only because of Jesus the Christ that we receive the healing that we need. “I am a sinner who now has a Savior – do you”?   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, Nothing compares with knowing Jesus. (Philippians 3:7f). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): 1 Timothy 1:15-17; 1 Timothy 2:3b-6; 2 Timothy 1:8-12; Psalms 89a:1-13. God Has Given You His “Gifts”; Are You Using Your Gifts From God to Serve His Kingdom Today? MESSAGE SUMMARY: To each one of us, Grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. As Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 12:4-6: “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.”. Just because one of us has a certain gift, it does not mean that your gift is not just as important in the Body of Christ. While some in the church teach that some of the gifts of the Holy Spirit have faded away and are no longer needed. “Says who?” The Bible teaches that all gifts are needed and are necessary if the Body of Christ to function properly. The Apostle Peter tells us, in 1 Peter 4:10, how we, as followers of Jesus, should consider our gifts from God: “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.". In addition to God’s gift of your Salvation, through your Faith and His Grace, what other personal gifts Has God given you; and how are you using God’s gift to you?   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Anxiety. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Peace. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). Do You Wish to Receive Salvation and Eternal Life as a Follower of Jesus? If so, Enter the Narrow Door Now! MESSAGE SUMMARY: In John 14:6, Jesus says: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one come to the Father but through me.”. TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Loneliness. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Presence. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): John 14:6; Mathew 3:1-3; John 4:1-5; Psalms 33a:1-11. Your Confessions to God Are to Remind You that You Are to Forgive Others as God Has Forgiven You

Your Confessions to God Are to Remind You that You Are to Forgive Others as God Has Forgiven You   MESSAGE SUMMARY: If God has forgiven you, why do you have to confess your sins? Confession is to remind you that you, as a follower of Jesus, are to forgive others as Jesus forgave you. Your forgiving others means that you release others from the offense that you believe they have committed against you. Jesus set the “forgiveness standard” for you as Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:31-32: “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FORGIVEN. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9). God Will Call You to Serve Him; God’s Calls to His Service Are Never Too Small or Inconsequential MESSAGE SUMMARY:   When God gives you a vision to start a ministry or to witness to co-workers or if God calls you to serve His Kingdom, God will walk with you through the Holy Spirit. When God calls you as a follower of Jesus, and He will call you, remember that God’s calls to His service are never too small or inconsequential. Therefore, you must remember Jesus’ Parable of the Mustard Seed in Mathew 13:31-32 – “. . . a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree . . .”. From this parable, we learn that God will take what He asks you to do and multiply it many times. You can be sure, like Paul tells us in Romans 8:28, that when God calls you in your life that He walks with you as you strive to meet His expectations: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.".   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be ashamed of the Gospel. I will not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (including me). (From Romans 1:16). To Live and Act Like Jesus, God Gave Followers of Jesus the Holy Spirit MESSAGE SUMMARY:  The Holy Spirit is given to Christians so that God may work in you and through you, as Luke tells us in Acts 10:44: “While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word.". God desires to work in you to make you more like Jesus. God manifests Himself, through the Holy Spirit, as Paul tells us in Romans 14:17: “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.". The Holy Spirit was given to you, as a follower of Jesus, so that the way you live and act would be like Jesus.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Evil Ways. If You Follow Jesus, Is Jesus the Lord of Your Life? If So, You Have the Holy Spirit as Your “Counselor” MESSAGE SUMMARY: The question is not "When did you receive the Holy Spirit?" BUT "Have you received the Holy Spirit?". As Jesus told us in John 14:26-27: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.". Is the Holy Spirit Present in your life, and does the Holy Spirit have you? Have you surrendered your life and will to Jesus the Christ? Until you surrender to Jesus, the Holy Spirit cannot lead you. As soon as you put up any resistance to "surrendering", you quench the Holy Spirit in your life.    TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Lust. In Today’s Uncertainties, Carve Out a Time Each Day to Pray for America MESSAGE SUMMARY: Today, we must all Pray for America – to carve out a time each day when we, each and every one of us, prays for America. In our prayers, we must confess our sins as individuals and collectively as a country. Additionally, we must pray for our President, Members of Congress, the Supreme Court, and our other leaders and those others in authority. Our Prayers for America should pray for the moral issues of today; blessings and protection for our leaders that are walking the walk of their Christian faith; and for a Spiritual Revival and Awakening in America. Only the intervention of God will change the downward direction of America, and we must ask through our prayers. God has intervened before, and He will do it again. America was built on prayer, as we learn from the writings of Benjamin Franklin, and upon the Christian faith of our founders. Paul instructs us for our prayers in 1 Timothy 2:1-6: “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.". We must make Praying for America and, personally, for its leaders a priority in our lives. If we are praying, then God will show us what to do. Will You pray for America and take responsibility for the survival America and its blessings and freedoms for our country today and for our children and grandchildren in the future?   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will serve others. We will not survive as a nation unless the people of God stand up before God and plead for the survival of America. Spiritual laws are like the laws of physics – they are absolute unless another force intervenes. Therefore, as America increases its violation of God’s laws at an increasing rate, we will face both the implicit and explicit consequences of violating God’s laws unless He intervenes – we must pray for God’s intervention! Today’s Issues and Problems Give You the Opportunity To Mirror Jesus in Your Actions, Even With a “Mask” and “Distancing” MESSAGE SUMMARY: Paul, in Titus 3:4-8, powerfully lays out that we, as Christians, receive our Salvation through our faith and God’s Grace and not by our works. However, we are, also, given the opportunity to mirror Jesus’s good works in our actions and works: “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.". What would happen, if the next time you are in the grocery store, you see a young family in need at the register and you pay their bill? Or what would happen if you paid the bill of a young family in line behind you at a fast food restaurant? Or what would happen if you got in your car and visited the shut-ins living in your community? Or what would happen if you went next door and actually met, got to know, and helped your neighbor? If we want to be real Christians, then we need to follow the “Great Commission” set forth by Jesus, for us, in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”".  Our most powerful tool, that we can use to follow Jesus “Great Commission”, is for our life to let others see Jesus in our faith, actions, and works.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Fear. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Faithfulness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. DEVOTIONAL VIDEO From the Moment You Became a Follower of Jesus Having a “Right Relationship” with God, You Had Eternal Life MESSAGE SUMMARY: Am I Going To Heaven? (Christ Anglican Church; Cashiers, NC) If you follow Jesus in faith and confession, you can we be sure that you are in a “right relationship” with God because Jesus is your life’s Lord. Therefore, how can you, as a follower of Jesus in a “right relationship” with God, be sure that you are “saved”? As a follower of Jesus and based on Scripture, the answer is a “resounding YES, you can be sure that you are saved”! As followers of Jesus, God has given you assurances of your Salvation in three different ways: 1) the witness of Scripture through the documentation of the work of Christ on the cross from God’s Grace as a means of Eternal Life; 2) the witness of the Holy Spirit which, again, is God’s gift to those who follow Jesus in faith and confession; and 3) the witness of the Holy Sacraments of your faith (i.e. Holy Communion, Baptism) that assure us of God’s work in our lives. Because of your personal relationship with God, the relationship that you have resulting from following Jesus, you can say to God: “you died for My sins”. Your personal relationship with God should provide assurance of your Salvation. In the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, you are given the Comfortable Words of Paul in 1 Timothy 1:15: “The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.". Also, you have the assurance, again from Scripture, in 1 John 5:11-13: “And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.". Yes, as a follower of Jesus, you have eternal Life!   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM A CHILD OF GOD. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. (John 1:12f). MESSAGE SUMMARY: Husbands, other than your relationship with God, your wife must be your relationship priority – Your relationship priorities define what your whole life-focus is about. In Genesis 2:24, God established the framework for the relationship and life-focus between husband and wife: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”. Paul, in Ephesians 5:25, expresses God’s expectations for the husband in his relationship with his wife: “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”. Faithfulness to your wife involves the quality of your relationship with your wife, but “relationship quality”, also, involves all aspects of your “relationship” -- adultery is the ultimate act of “unfaithfulness”. In Mathew 19:4-7, Jesus repeats God’s instructions from Genesis 2:24; but Jesus makes clear, in Matthew 19:6b, that Marriage demands: “What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”. Many things can get in the way of your relationship with your wife; therefore, your wife must be your relationship focus. Your work. the world, the country, your friends, and your family have so many issues and hurts for which Jesus and His Gospel are the answer; but we keep God’s good news a secret by our unwillingness to live a visible life walking the talk of the Gospel and sharing the Gospel. Do you have the faith and courage and are you willing to share the Gospel? If you do, then pray for God’s guidance to you for His will and role for you. However, a husband can let others see Jesus in him by having a visible and real high priority relationship with his wife.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will trust in the Lord with all my heart. I will trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding.  In all my ways I will seek to know Him, and He will make my pathways straight. (From Proverbs 3:5f). To Receive More Spiritual Revelations, We Must Meet God’s Expectations of Our Responsibility for His Material Gifts MESSAGE SUMMARY:   As followers of Jesus, we want to go deeper in our personal relationship with God. However, God tells some of us that we must start being more responsible for the material things that He has provided before we can go deeper into spiritual revelations. Also, many of us, while seeking to know the Lord better, want to know His will in our lives and for the World. At the same time, we want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. In Mathew 6:19-21, Jesus is telling us that all that we have, which we tend to call our own, really comes from God. God has expectations for our good management of His resources in our personal relationship with Him: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.". God tells us that we are to be good managers of His gifts. Very pointedly, God is telling us that if we can’t be responsible for the earthly treasures, which He has provided us, then how can we be responsible for His Spiritual treasures that He wants to provide us as we seek to deepen our personal relationship with Him?   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Heartlessness. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Kindness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). MESSAGE SUMMARY: Rev. John Wesley Said that Good Stewards of God’s Gifts to Us Make, Save and Give Away as Much Money as They Can You are God’s stewards and His supervisor of all God’s talents and money which God has provided to you during your earthly lifetime. You fulfill your obligations to God by meeting your responsibilities for Stewardship, Fiduciary performance, and Accountability to Him. All that you call “your own” is from God. The author of Hebrews, in Hebrews 13:5-6, presents God’s expectations for your management of your finances on His behalf: “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you,’ So, we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’”. Also, John Wesley, an Anglican Priest and founder of the Methodist denomination, said in his Three Rules About Money: 1) Make as much money as you can – be industrious and diligent; 2) Save as much money as you can -- be no spendthrift and live frugally and prudently; and 3) Give away as much money as you can. That is Divine destination of money; that makes it an everlasting blessing. John Wesley’s “Rules” provide you with a pathway to fulfill God’s expectations for your Stewardship and Fiduciary responsibilities.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Resentment. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Compassion. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). Today’s Fear-Laden World Brings You Little Joy, But True Joy Comes From Sacrificing Something for Jesus

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Today’s Fear-Laden World Brings You Little Joy, But True Joy Comes From Sacrificing Something for Jesus What have you, personally, sacrificed for the Gospel? Some have lost jobs, friendships, and family members because of their faith. Others, outside of the US, are losing their lives following the Gospel of Jesus due to the systemic and institutionalized persecution of Christians. For example, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) reports that 6,000 Christians were killed between January 2018 and June 2018 in Nigeria. What have you sacrificed for the gospel? You cannot earn your Salvation by your actions like standing up for your faith – Salvation is provided to you by God though His Grace and your faith. Paul, in Philippians 2:8-11, posits the Gospel’s intended impact for followers of Jesus: “And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.". However, there is true joy to you when you sacrifice something in your life for Jesus and the Gospel rather than always living for yourself. What have you sacrificed for the Gospel – Jesus gave His all for you?   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Self-Centeredness. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Love. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). DEVOTIONAL VIDEO Moving Your Focus From Yourself To the Needs of Others Makes You Free To Hear and Receive From God   MESSAGE SUMMARY: Feeding of the 5000 (St. Andrews Episcopal Church; Ft, Worth, TX) Jesus life and actions provide lessons to us of focusing on the needs of others over our perceived personal needs. In Mark 6:34, we see that Jesus’ compassion for the people, in the miraculous feeding of the 5,000, supplanted His personal need to grieve for the death of John the Baptizer and to rest. Rather, Jesus began to, immediately, minister to the people: “When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things.”. Like Jesus and in order to receive what God knows that we require, we need to move our focus away from our personal desires and perceived needs onto the real needs of others. When we move our focus away from ourselves and to a “outward focus”, we become free to hear and to receive from God. As in Jesus’ feeding of the 5,000, God desires that we look to Him; to take what He has given us; and to give to those in need. No matter where we are or in what context of life’s involvement that we find ourselves, we need to be willing to be broken vessels for use by God for His purposes. SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Mark 6:31; Mark 6:34; Mark 6:41; Mark 6:43; Psalms 46:1-11. DEVOTIONAL VIDEO MESSAGE SUMMARY: The Holy Spirit: the Promise Fulfilled (All Saints, Peachtree City, GA) Today, America and the remainder of the world, along with all of us individually, need to be renewed with a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured out. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God to all that believe and follow Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the presence of Jesus among us. Our being filled with the Holy Spirit is normal Christianity. It is the Holy Spirit that enables us to commune with God and to have a personal relationship with Him -- the Holy Spirit is the presence of Jesus among us. You cannot live the Christian life without the Holy Spirit. You will be filled with the Holy Spirit every day that you surrender your life to the Holy Spirit. You cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit if you are consumed by sin and the desires of your flesh.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM RIGHTEOUS IN GOD’S EYES. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21). MESSAGE SUMMARY:  Jesus’ Followers Become New Persons Because He Changes Hearts which Lead to Changes in Actions and Inner Persons God makes you a new creation through your new heart created by an indwelling of the Holy Spirit in your life. God is interested in your heart, and He wants you to have a righteous heart – God changes your thinking and your attitude through a change in your heart. In Romans 8:26-27, Paul describes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in followers of Jesus resulting in a new person, with a new heart, in Jesus: “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.". As a follower of Jesus, you become salt and light that results from your righteousness. Therefore, you change into a new person in Jesus and not just changes in your actions and appearance. You, also, experience changes in your inner person, your heart.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will entrust to Him my future. I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.  (From 2 Timothy 1:12). MESSAGE SUMMARY: As Followers of Jesus, we are "In Christ" -- God looks at us and sees Jesus in us. Throughout the Epistles we find: "In Christ" or "In Him". In Galatians 3:14, Paul tells us that our faith in Jesus makes us “In Christ” and recipients of God’s Covenant with Abraham: “so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.". Also, Paul goes even further, in Galatians 3:25-28, to tell us that, through our faith in Jesus, we no longer need any kind of intermediary because we are “In Christ” and we have a personal relationship with God, the Creator of the Universe: “But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.”. The benefit our position "In Christ", as followers of Jesus, is that when God looks at us, He sees Jesus, the Son; therefore, He then sees us as His sons and daughters.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Procrastination. MESSAGE SUMMARY: Sometimes the bottom falls out in your life, and you wonder where God is in all your stuff. Well, the challenge to you is to turn your eyes to God and thank Him. We have no better teacher, of the need to address God with our thanks, than when, in Luke11:2, Jesus responded to His Disciples’ request to teach them to pray: “And he said to them, ‘When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.’". By taking your situation to God in prayer and thanks. You will be amazed at what will happen in your situation which seemed insurmountable before you asked for God’s involvement through prayer and thanks. What do you usually do? You worry and fret – you focus on the negative and give the adverse situation so much power, in your life, rather than focusing on God and giving Him thanks. In Mathew 6:34, Jesus tells you not to be anxious about your life situations: “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.". Ask God to get involved in your life through prayer and thanks – you will be amazed.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Past Failures. MESSAGE SUMMARY: In many ways, your faith is like a muscle – both your muscles and your faith will atrophy if you do not use them. In the ministry, we often hear comments from our parishioners like: “Some time ago, I walked with the Lord and He spoke to me; but now I am not even sure I believe in God anymore.”. This falling away from the Lord is, often, a result of faith not being exercised. In Hebrews 2:1-3, you are told that when the storms of life come, you are to look to Jesus – use your faith and always look to Jesus: “Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,". MESSAGE SUMMARY: While you are endeavoring to hold onto your faith in God and Jesus’ Gospel, you need to always remember the faithfulness of God, even in those times in which you may be doubting or questioning your faith. When the Apostles questioned Jesus about faith and prayer, Jesus told the Apostles, in Mathew 21:21-22, that your faith is powerful and that God will respond to your faith: “And Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.’”. Hold, unswervingly, to the hope and faith you profess because God, who promised us, is faithful. God will never leave you or forsake you even when difficulties arise, and you are tempted to walk away from your faith. When you are tempted to doubt God, remember that God is faithful. Jesus has given you the privilege of entering the Throne Room of God to have access to God the Father – the Creator of the Universe. This access to God is through prayer.  In 1 Timothy 2:1-4, we are told the importance if intercessory prayer: “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.".
