They also talk about the beauty of discipleship: what it is, and what it doesn't have to be. In this episode, Erin Lynam joins the conversation to share a powerful perspective on rest—why God created it, how we see it modeled in scripture, and even how creation itself points us to rhythms of work and rest. Erin is a certified master naturalist and the host of the Nat Theo kids' podcast, which blends science and theology in ways the whole family can enjoy. She explains how rhythms in nature—like hibernation, dormancy, and even the patterns of trees—reveal God's intentional design for us to embrace Sabbath. Together, we talk about the cultural lies that view rest as laziness, the struggle of slowing down in hustle culture, and how choosing to rest is actually an act of faith that God will keep things moving even when we stop. Whether you're a mom, an entrepreneur, or someone trying to find peace in a busy world, this conversation will encourage you to see rest not as optional, but as essential for your soul, your family, and your faith. This episode is brought to you by our sponsors: Olive App and Angel Studios. There are seasons in life when everything feels overwhelming — family struggles, financial pressures, illness, or work challenges. As our daily prayer and devotional remind us, in those moments, even getting out of bed can feel like too much. But God never intended for us to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. Instead, He invites us to lean on Him, to trust Him fully, and to remember His goodness. Lynette Kittle encourages us that when life feels unbearable, we can take intentional steps to anchor ourselves in God’s truth: remembering His past faithfulness, staying persistent in prayer, feeding our souls with Scripture, and reaching out to encourage others. These small but powerful practices help lift our eyes off the heaviness and fix them back on the One who carries us. God’s Word promises that He is our Savior, our hope, and our strength. Even when life seems too hard, He is with us, sustaining us moment by moment. Your Daily Bible Reading: "Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God." – Psalm 43:5 Key Takeaways God never designed us to carry life’s burdens alone; He calls us to lean on Him. Remembering God’s past faithfulness builds hope for today. Prayer, even when it feels hard, keeps us connected to God’s strength. Scripture refreshes weary hearts with truth and perspective. Reaching out to others, even in our struggles, brings blessing and renewal. Let’s Pray Together Dear Father, thank You for being my Savior and my God. Although my body, mind, and heart feel weary, I choose to put my hope in You. Remind me of Your goodness and faithfulness. Strengthen me through prayer and Your Word, and help me to bless others even when I feel weak. Thank You that in You, I have hope and reason to praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Calls to Action Write down three ways God has been faithful to you and revisit the list when life feels heavy. Set aside 5 minutes today to pray, even if it feels hard. In this heart-to-heart episode of the Dad Edge Podcast, I sit down with my 19-year-old son, Ethan Hagner, for a raw and honest conversation about growing up, gaining independence, and building strong family bonds in the process. Together, we explore what it means to transition from teenager to young adult while still staying connected to family values, respect, and open communication.   We dive into how to respectfully disagree with parents, how to manage emotions in a healthy way, and the importance of creating space without disconnection. Ethan shares his personal experiences—from turning down college parties to navigating long-distance relationships—and how he's developed healthy coping mechanisms like ice baths, workouts, and prayer.   This episode isn't just for parents of teens. It's for any father who wants to lead his family with grace, patience, and intention—and raise young men of character in a chaotic world.   TIMELINE SUMMARY   [0:00] - Welcome to the Dad Edge movement [1:01] - Raising independent, critical-thinking kids [2:12] - Respectful disagreements with parents and communication [3:02] - Pumpkin spice protein ice cream (yes, seriously) [5:03] - The scary truth about a Starbucks PSL's sugar content [6:42] - Why protein-first choices matter for men's health [9:34] - Introducing today's topic: family ties and independence [10:02] - Life after high school: structure vs. freedom [11:52] - Taking initiative as a young adult [13:35] - Visiting college friends and choosing not to party [15:12] - Why making different choices matters to dads [16:13] - Navigating peer pressure and honoring your values [17:02] - “Liquor is poison in a fancy bottle” – a mindset shift [18:01] - Recognizing alcohol for what it is: a toxin [21:03] - Creating safe space for respectful disagreements [23:04] - How to make kids feel seen, heard, and understood [25:21] - All emotions are welcome, not all behaviors are [26:26] - Ethan's favorite stress relief tool: beating up “Bob” [27:37] - Navigating long-distance relationships as a teen [29:13] - Classical music, cards, and healthy distraction [30:23] - Coping mechanisms that actually improve your life [32:05] - Ice plunges and dopamine boosts [34:20] - Why saunas win over cold plunges for dad [36:26] - A reminder: every man needs a list of positive go-to's [37:15] - The highs and fears of new independence [39:17] - What scares Ethan most about his future path [40:02] - Why dad feels the clock ticking at age 50 [42:25] - Book launch: The Pursuit of Legendary Fatherhood [43:17] - Two free bonus courses for a limited time [44:15] - Why this father-son podcast is one-of-a-kind [46:00] - Temptation and faith: how Ethan calls on God [48:01] - God always provides a way out of temptation   5 KEY TAKEAWAYS   1. In this episode of CrossPolitic, Gabe and Toby address the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk and deliver a wake-up call to the American church. They argue that the church has catastrophically failed in its duty as shepherds, receiving an "F minus" grade for allowing wolves to infiltrate education systems while pastors refuse to warn their congregations about the dangers of public schools. They critique the humanistic unity message being promoted in response to Kirk's murder, explaining how this false religion, which elevates humanity rather than God as the ultimate standard, actually breeds the very violence it claims to oppose. The conversation takes a hard turn toward biblical truth, with the hosts drawing from 2 Corinthians 6 to emphasize that there can be no unity between light and darkness, between Christ and those who hate Him. They challenge the "thou shalt be nice" mentality that has captured much of American Christianity, calling instead for believers to recognize the fundamental war between Christianity and humanism that has raged for over 150 years. Her husband’s death began a period of transition for Nora. She took over his hardware business and cared for their three children on her own. “Be strong,” friends often told her. But what does that mean? she’d think. That I must deliver without fail in my responsibilities? God gave great responsibilities to Othniel in a time of transition for the people of Israel. As discipline for the nation’s idolatry, God had given them “into the hands of Cushan-Rishathaim . . . to whom the Israelites were subject for eight years” (Judges 3:8). Under the cruel king of Mesopotamia, the Israelites “cried out to the Lord,” and “he raised up for them a deliverer” (v. 9)—Othniel, whose name means “God’s strength.” As the first judge of Israel, Othniel had no predecessor to help him. This military leader had to guide the Israelites back to living out their covenant relationship with God and defend them from their enemies. But because “the Spirit of the Lord came on him” (v. 10), he succeeded. With God’s strength sustaining Othniel’s leadership, “the land had peace for forty years, until [he] died” (v. 11). How can we truly “be strong”? It’s by knowing we’re not strong and by trusting God to give us His strength. His “grace is sufficient for [us], for [His] power is made perfect in weaknes

It won't be long before Job receives a proper rebuke from Elihu and then from God Himself, but until that time comes, Job continues to vent and express frustration with the situation he finds himself in. His friends keep telling him to repent of his evil, assuming that his sin is the cause of his state. Meanwhile, Job continues to declare himself as pure, which is also untrue, but in his state of despair he can't see his self-righteous posture. Job thinks so highly of himself that he unabashedly accuses God of not executing justice properly, and in so doing, exalts himself above His Maker. When we truly live our lives surrendered to God, the Holy Spirit will impress on our hearts at times to give to others. Rather than holding onto everything we have, we need to obey and sow what God has given us and see the bountiful blessing that comes from that. He will supply all of our needs as we take part in the amazing fun of giving.

Daily Devotions from Lutheran Hour Ministries

Ephesians 4:7-16 - But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high He led a host of captives, and He gave gifts to men.” (In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that He had also descended into the lower regions, the earth? He who descended is the One who also ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) And He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Him who is the Head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Bishop Robert Barron’s Sermons - Catholic Preaching and Homilies

Friends, for this Twenty-fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time, I want to focus on the first and second readings. When read together, they give us a very good sense of Catholic social teaching in regard to the question of power. The Church's position here is a subtle one. It doesn't demonize political and economic power; after all, God is described as all-powerful, so power can't, in itself, be a problem. But it is very much concerned with how we use that power.

Segment 3: • Attacks on penal substitution are assaults on forgiveness itself. • PSA: Christ bore our punishment as our substitute—without it, no salvation. • Critics dismiss it as “cosmic child abuse,” but Scripture repeatedly affirms it. John MacArthur's recent passing is both sorrowful and hopeful, as the church grieves his absence yet rejoices because he is now with the Lord. Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar reflect on his significant influence, recalling how he introduced many to expository preaching, faithfully working through Scripture verse by verse instead of letting topics drive the message. They share memories of his warmth in personal encounters, his passion for doctrinal clarity, and his courage to stand firm even when threatened during times of cultural opposition. His voice carried clarity and conviction, always pointing to Christ and letting God's word speak for itself. While recognizing his humanity and imperfections, they honor him as a trailblazer whose ministry built churches filled with a love for truth and whose legacy transcended denominational and theological boundaries. His life and preaching serve as a reminder that God delights in using faithful but flawed people to advance His glory, leaving a legacy that will continue to influence generations to come.Send us a textThanks for listening! Wylie McGraw is a 3-tour combat veteran, former star athlete, and competitive bull rider. At 45, Wylie McGraw is the oldest combat veteran in decades to re-enlist for active duty—but for him, this isn’t just about helping to fix a broken military. A devout Catholic, he felt a spiritual calling to serve again, believing God and patriotism left him no choice. After a 16-year career advising/optimizing the lives of Fortune 500 CEOs, pro athletes, and billionaires, Wylie answered the call of duty once again — returning to service as one of the rare few accepted into Special Operations Psychological Warfare. Despite a ruptured ACL he regrew without surgery and 21 years out of uniform, he’s gearing up for his third round of bootcamp, because he believes the US needs a stronger military now. He believes the military is at its weakest point in modern history — plagued by “wokeism,” a leadership vacuum, and a recruitment crisis where 77% of young Americans are unfit to serve. Integrity is gone, lethality has declined, and legacy military families are telling their kids to stay out. Wylie’s mission? Restore core values, mentor future-ready soldiers, and help America face near-peer threats like China and Russia. His views align with veterans like Pete Hegseth, now leading the Pentagon — he sees this as the moment to help course-correct. Having helped over 100 combat vets rebuild their lives, Wylie understands what it takes to face and overcome personal battles. He believes much of today’s cultural decline stems from people avoiding those inner struggles, creating a void now filled by ideologies that prize comfort over strength that are weakening the nation from within.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

00:00:50 – Trump, NFL & Dictatorship ComparisonsThe show opens with Trump mocking the NFL's new kickoff rule as “sissy football.” This segues into a warning about Trump's emergency powers, tariffs, and governing by decree, comparing him to global dictators. 00:13:58 – Free Speech Betrayed After Kirk's DeathDiscussion of Trump, JD Vance, and GOP leaders calling for censorship in the wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination. The Smith-Mundt Act is misrepresented to justify cracking down on the press, with comparisons to Reagan's betrayal of the Second Amendment after the Brady shooting. 00:23:10 – Media Control & False NarrativesGuests like Tucker Carlson and RFK Jr. are accused of aiding efforts to redefine free speech as terrorism. Skepticism is raised toward Steve Bannon's claims and the FBI's version of events, framing it as another push toward surveillance and internet ID mandates. 00:36:17 – Armed Queers & Radical MarxistsCoverage of “Armed Queers SLC,” a Marxist-LGBT militant group in Utah linked to Cuba. Their open revolutionary training and ties to Antifa figures are framed as proof that universities are breeding grounds for leftist terrorism. 00:52:02 – First Amendment vs. ViolenceDebate shifts to why the First Amendment is more important than the Second, arguing that radicalization comes from schools, culture, and censorship itself—not weapons. Liberty is portrayed as inherently dangerous but preferable to state control. 01:18:12 – Internet Control & Epstein Files BuriedSpeculation deepens around the Kirk shooting, with questions about the rifle used, multiple shooters, and hand signals. The assassination is tied to a broader effort to end online anonymity, while the Epstein files are said to be quietly buried under the media fog. 01:34:28 – J.K. Rowling & Faith StrugglesDiscussion of Rowling's “God-shaped vacuum” comments, her shift toward more conservative views, and Pascal's wager. The host critiques her books as amoral and emphasizes grounding in the Bible. 01:49:45 – Authoritarian Conservatism & Cancel CultureCriticism of JD Vance and other GOP leaders for embracing cancel culture, urging snitching on Kirk critics, and mirroring Stasi-style tactics. The host stresses this betrays free speech and liberty. 01:55:23 – Social Media, Radicalization & SchoolsDebunking claims that social media “killed Charlie Kirk.” Instead, government schools are identified as the true source of radicalization, pushing Marxism, LGBT ideology, and secular humanism. 02:28:38 – AI Fails & Security RisksCoverage of how AI coding creates massive security vulnerabilities and relies on underpaid human moderators. The “AI bubble” is framed as a pyramid scheme propped up by propaganda and capital burn. 02:53:43 – Gold Surges Amid Panic CutsFinancial analyst Ed Dowd predicts a “panic rate cut cycle,” driving gold above $3,700. Gold is praised as a hedge against inflation, privacy loss, and collapsing fiat systems, while Trump's tariffs are blamed for worsening the economy. Jonah, the reluctant prophet, was called to prophesy against the pagan capital of the world, Nineveh. He attempted to shun the assignment until God explained it to him a little more clearly! His message to Nineveh:40 days and you get yours! The greatest miracle in the book of Jonah was Nineveh's repentance, within the allotted 40 days, on speculation! They reasoned that maybe, if they repented, God might change His mind. They did. And He did. A century later, Nahum was sent to ask them to repent and Nineveh failed. Judgment resulted. Obadiah prophesied against Israel's enemies. His book provides insights into the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ and why some countries will apparently escape the rule of the Antichrist. These are three small books of the Bible that contribute a critical perspective for all of us. This study contains 8 hours of verse by verse teachings. Copyright © 10-01-2010

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us. This season we're watching a selection of M Night Shyamalan movies. This episode we watched Signs and next time we'll be back with The Village. Signs is a movie about ex-preacher Graham Hess and his faith in god, which is put to the test when his wife is killed as a pedestrian in a car accident. He loses his faith, leaves the Church, and retreats emotionally inside the self-soothing comfort of atheism, or perhaps fledgling nihilism. Unfortunately for him, in M Night's world, God is real, losing faith is wrong, and raising your kid while atheist is toxic. When the earth is suddenly subject to a widespread alien invasion threat, Graham's lack of faith is shattered by God's Grace, and the true extent of His meticulously planned fate is undeniable. In this movie written in 2000-2001, starting production in September 2001, and released in summer of 2002, we find an almost supernaturally early example of the post 9/11 movie. A movie about media, a Christian God, securing borders against foreign threats, pulled from the percolating subconscious of America.
