God Reminds Those Who Want a Deeper Relationship with Him of His Expectations for Their Management of His Resources He Provided Them MESSAGE SUMMARY: As followers of Jesus, we want to go deeper in our personal relationship with God. However, God tells some of us that we must start being more responsible for the material things that He has provided before we can go deeper into spiritual revelations. Also, many of us, while seeking to know the Lord better, want to know His will in our lives and for the World. At the same time, we want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. In Mathew 6:19-21, Jesus is telling us that all that we have, which we tend to call our own, really comes from God. God has expectations for our good management of His resources in our personal relationship with Him: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.". God tells us that we are to be good managers of His gifts; however, in Luke 12:19-21, Jesus completes a parable about a man who thought that all his assets were his and not from God: “'And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”. Pointedly, God is telling us that if we cannot be responsible for the earthly treasures, which He has provided us, then how can we be responsible for His Spiritual treasures that He wants to provide us as we seek to deepen our personal relationship with Him? TODAY'S PRAYER: Most merciful God I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I might delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of Your Name. Amen. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Despair. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Joy. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). In this passage, we have various persons all playing a part as Jesus is about to fulfill ultimately the office of the Messiah. We have Simon the leper, who reminds us that Jesus does not enter into perfect situations, but into believing homes. We have Mary, who valued Christ above all the riches of the world and anointed His head with precious oil, in spite of those criticized her sacrifice. We also have Judas, who spent much time close to Jesus, but loved the world more and betrayed Him for money. We have the chief priests and elders, who believed their ends promoted their wicked means. And we have Jesus Himself, who told the disciples to leave Mary alone. He knew He was about to suffer and die, and He knew that the work of redemption would cost His own precious blood. But He chose to go to the cross as the unspotted Lamb of God. He sacrificially gave Himself to redeem those who believe in Him- Do you believe in Him--

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 23rd of June, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. If we go to the Book of Philippians 3:10, Paul says:“… that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,…” Now, Paul had the privilege of meeting Jesus, face to face on the road to Damascus, when he was knocked off his horse and was converted instantly. But he was not satisfied with that. He said, “Oh that I may know Him…” Do you feel like that, my friend? The best time of the day for me is early in the morning. In South Africa at the moment, we are going into the middle of winter. It is still dark in the morning. I get up very early in the morning after Jill and I have prayed. I make a fire in our wood stove to warm up the house, I make her a nice hot cup of tea, and then I take my Bible and I go into my quiet time room. Oh my dear friend, it is a precious time of the day for me and I sit there and I speak to Jesus. I read the word of God and I worship Him - the best time of the day! Oh, that I may know Him! And that is how you get to know somebody, by spending special time with them. It is the sweetest time of the day. And then the power of His resurrection - to realise that this Master, this Saviour who I am serving, is not dead. No, no, no, He is alive. He has been resurrected. And then to have fellowship with His sufferings. You know my biggest enemy is not the devil, it is Angus Buchan, and when we put that flesh down then Jesus has precedence over our lives. Because you are a believer that does not mean that you are not going to suffer. Of course you are going to suffer, like all the saints before, and then being conformed to His death - what does that mean? It means putting the flesh down and living for the Lord, and that is where freedom and joy and expectation come from, and when I have finished having time with the Master, I go out and I face the world. I want to say to you today, be like Paul the apostle, and say, “Oh, that I may know Him more”, know the power of His resurrection, be prepared to suffer if need be for your faith and also put the flesh down, once and for all. If you do that, I want to tell you, it will revolutionise your life. Get up early in the morning and spend the first hour of your day with the Lord Jesus Christ.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for a two-part look, among other important things, perhaps the most significant event in the life of both Abraham, and his son Yitzak (Isaac) - also known as the Akieda, or 'binding of Isaac'...parsha Veyeira (Genesis chapters 18 through 22). It's often cited as one of the most dramatic stories of "faith" in all of Scripture - but, even so, there is still more to it. The sequence again begins with the Erev Shabbat reading: https://hebrewnationonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/SSM-11-11-22-Vayeira-teaching-podcast-x.mp3 Mark suggests that while the story of the 'binding of Isaac' is without question a history-making Act of Faith, when it comes to whose faith was tested, or - better still - proven, for our benefit more than His. Because He already knew. And that is the key for this week's midrash. Abraham KNEW, of a certainty, that the promises he had been given were to come though that son that he was given through Sarah. Today, and especially given the level of Evil that has been exposed, increasingly, even over the last week, it's becoming increasingly obvious that, since elections won't fix the problem, are we at the point where the world, literally, "doesn't have a prayer?" Still, since we who trust in Him DO 'have a prayer,' it's important to understand the promises that we can, without question, rely upon, in such a time as this. "Vayeira: We Are Definitely NOT 'Without a Prayer' " https://hebrewnationonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/WT-CooH-11-12-22-Vayeira-NOT-Without-a-Prayer-podcast-xxx.mp3 The combined two-part podcast is here:

Today we will get a fast-paced glance at what Jesus was doing, and how people responded to Him. He came and preached the good news of the Gospel. He came to show compassion to those who have been wild and disobedient, as well as to those who patiently longed and looked for the coming Messiah. --Will those whose lives have been filled with sin turn and repent and receive the Lord Jesus and believe the Gospel- --How would you have responded to Jesus- How are you responding to Him now- These are good questions to ask ourselves as we consider the nine responses to Jesus that we find in this chapter - from that of Peter and Andrew who left their jobs to become fishers of men, to that of the leper who proclaimed abroad how Jesus had touched and healed him. --Are we willing to leave things and even people behind in order to follow Jesus- Would you follow Him immediately- Do you love Jesus, or do you just love the stuff He gives you- Do you live under His authority- Do you live life for Jesus' mission- Do you learn from Him and listen to Him- Do you follow Him and obey Him- Do you repent of your sins and turn from them- Do you respond to Jesus with faith-

TODAY'S PRAYER: Surely it is God who saves me. I will trust in Him and not be afraid. For the Lord is my stronghold and my defense, and He is my savior. Therefore, you shall draw water with rejoicing from the springs of salvation. And on that day, you shall say, “Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His Name; make His deeds known among the peoples; see that they remember that His Name is exalted.”. Amen. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Anxiety. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Peace. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). Archbishop Averky speaks to our times in the context of a frequently neglected saying of Christ. His peace is not the peace of the world, His truth both unites and divides. As he said to His disciples after his tough sayings led many to leave Him: “Do you also want to go away?” Let us respond like the Apostle Peter, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Archbishop Averky: “All of these frequent, unnaturally flowery speeches, and until now, hysterical cries about peace for the world are for the most part from people who are either far from true Christianity or openly hostile towards the Church. These speeches come from people who themselves do not live in peace with God and their consciences. Their relations with their neighbors are filled with malice. Can we believe the sincerity of the words pronounced by people who reject faith in God and love for their neighbor, and do not recognize the voice of conscience? Can we believe that those who audaciously and arrogantly blaspheme, declaring war on God Himself and His Holy Church, are truly striving for peace? These are the same people who not long ago did not conceal the fact that their plan was "to kindle a worldwide fire" [Communism], and who openly preached "class hatred" as the basis for their ideology. They are not at all troubled over shedding rivers of blood and exterminating millions of people simply on the suspicion that they may not be in agreement with their ideology. Can we truly believe the sincerity of peace lovers who speak sweetly of "Christian love" and "universal forgiveness," yet at the same time sow conflict and dissension, spreading lies and slander which incite enmity and division, setting people against one another.” “Surely one understands that when our Lord Jesus Christ said, Resist not evil (Matt. 5:39) he was only replacing the previous Old Testament law of personal revenge, forbidding us to take revenge on those Who personally offend us. There is no way that one should understand this saying to refer to no resistance to evil in general, as Leo Tolstoy and his followers understood it. On the contrary, our Lord taught very clearly that His true followers must be completely uncompromising towards evil, even in those most difficult circumstances which involve our conscience, in those circumstances where evil becomes incarnate in people close and dear to us. Let us recall for example the following words of our Savior which so disturb those who view Christian love as something sweet, sentimental, nice: If any man come to Me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple (Luke 14:26).” This text is from “The Modern World in the Light of the Word of God, vol. Title: God Reminds Those Who Want a Deeper Relationship with Him of His Expectations for Their Management of His Resources He Provided Them MESSAGE SUMMARY: As followers of Jesus, we want to go deeper in our personal relationship with God. Amen. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Compulsions. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Patience. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). Christians cannot afford to ignore what is happening in society. To do so won't make it go away. We cannot pretend that things are fine. It is exceedingly important that in spite of this growing final dictatorship, authentic Christians must realize that we already have absolute and complete victory in Jesus- There is no better truth that we can cling to in today's constantly shifting culture of lies. Do you believe this- Are you courageous in Christ- Do you rest in Him- Do you fear offending Him or are you more afraid of what people can do through government or your job or something else-

A little boy was talking to the girl next door: "I wonder what my mother would like for Mother's Day." The girl answers: "Well, you could promise to keep your room clean and orderly -- you could go to bed as soon as she tells you -- you could go to her as soon as she calls you -- you could brush your teeth after eating -- you could quit fighting with your brothers and sisters, especially at the dinner table." The boy looked at her and said, "No, I mean something she'd really want/like." Don't take back the flowers, the chocolates or the jewelry you got for mom. That's all good as an expression of love and affection. Your mom wants and needs your love-so give it to her but when the flowers die, the chocolate is eaten up and the jewelry no sparkles/is in style-this gift will endure. This gift is literally priceless yet a young child or grown adult can give it. But it's hard. It sometimes seems unreasonable or even ridiculous but she still wants it. You probably won't be able to give it to her all the time-but you better most of the time and especially in those moments that she really needs it. And don't worry you'll know when she really needs it. You'll see it in her eyes, hear it in her voice and if you miss those ques-don't worry God will whisper in your ear (if you are listening for Him) “Do what your mother says”. In the end this gift says you love her more than anything else. In fact if you don't give her this gift consistently no other gifts will matter. What's the gift? Listen to find out....

Do you struggle with the attitude and actions of people who claim to be Christ followers but do not seem to reflect Him? Do you sometimes have difficulty reflecting Christ yourself? Holiness is a lifelong journey. Listen as Pastor Derwin unpacks what holiness means and how Christians will be known by their love.
Ahab ignored God and died in his stubbornness. Ahaziah ignored God and died in his stubbornness. What do you and I do when trouble comes? Do we respond to trouble with irritation, impatience or discontent? Do we ignore God or get angry with Him? Do we look to God for wisdom, strength and understanding? The trouble you and I experience is not a failure of God’s plan. It is God’s plan.
1 John 5:3 KJV For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. God's commands to us should not cause us grief, sorrow, aggrevation, or appear to be burdensome: it should be a joy to obey Him! But what if we don't really like what He says? What if we don't agree with what He requires? What if we just don't want to do it? What if we resent His call? What do we do in that case? Do we ignore Him ? Do we come up with our own plan? Do we devise another method ? Do you try to evade Him in hopes of getting out of it? We each need to know how much we love God. Loving God really means doing what He tells us to do, and really, that isn't hard at all. Any of God's children can obey Him. We can defeat sin and evil pleasures by trusting Jesus Christ to help us.
What brings a beautiful relationship to the point of crumbling and divorce? Almost always, it is because one or both parties have lost their love for each other. Have we ever stopped to consider how we keep the flame of love alive in our relationship with Jesus Christ? Right theology doesn't necessarily equal right loving. Just because you know the truth doesn't mean you love the person who gave the truth. Our aim of theology is not just to be right; we want it to lead us to love our Savior in heaven. If our theology does not answer that goal, something has gone all wrong. Something is off target. If your heart is cold towards Jesus Christ, cry out to Him to kindle your love for Him anew!Right living does not necessarily equal right loving, either. Is our social activity done truly out of a love for Christ? We do need to live out our faith, but our works for men must be fruits from our love for Christ. What is your motivation? Is it a love for Jesus Christ, or is it doing good works merely for the good works' sake? If we are to keep the flames of our love for Christ alive, we must remember our first love! Do we hear Him speaking to us from His Word? Do we go to Him in prayer, and confess our sins to Him? Do we remember that God displayed His love for us in Christ's dying for us, while we were still His enemies? Are we seeking out the love of Jesus Christ? Have you forgotten your first love? Are we taking Christ for granted? Has He become so familiar to us that our hearts are like a hard rock? That's not what He wants for you! Let's repent of our cold-heartedness. Christ is telling you, "Come to Me! Don't let your love grow cold!"If the Church is not honoring Christ, and if we move our focus off of our Savior, He will remove His lampstand from our midst. Will we repent? Will our church be used by God to bring glory to His name for centuries to come? But there is a beautiful promise! The one who overcomes will be permitted to eat from the Tree of Life in the Paradise of God. Will we be overcomers? Will we overcome the culture and everything that is trying to extinguish our love for Jesus Christ? Will we be part of the great assembly that will sit and dine with Jesus at His marriage-feast in heaven? Will we seek our Savior? Do not forget your first love, but always burn for Jesus Christ!
Join us at CCC as Pastor Corey preaches on Matthew 11-25-30. Each day is Gods mercy towards you giving you time to come to Jesus. He will save whoever comes to Him- --Do not wait any more- Come to Christ today and find rest for your soul-
Al Fadi talks about how to have hope in Christ. He uses the passage in the gospel of John 14:1-6. 1. To have hope you have to believe in Christ. 2. If you believe in Christ ,it also means that you believe in the Father. 3. If you believe that Christ has a place for you in the Father's house, you will not be troubled. 4. If you know Jesus you know the way to heaven because Jesus said that he is the way. The question is do you know Him? Do you know the way? If you do, share Him with others, but if you don't accept Him by faith.
Pastor Bruce asks the church, -what have you done with this Sovereign God who does all that He does for His own glory-- What is our attitude toward Him- Do we believe what scripture says about Him- Why not-
That very day, the first day of the week, two of Jesus’ disciples were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. Luke 24:13–16This appearance of Jesus to two of His disciples is intriguing and fascinating. They were quite distraught and didn’t seem to know what to think about Jesus’ death. They had hoped He was the Messiah but then He was killed. And then there were some who claimed His tomb was empty. What should they make of all this?As the story goes on, Jesus “interpreted to them what referred to him in all the Scriptures.” With that, these disciples realized that this man with whom they were speaking had incredible wisdom and understanding, so they invited Him to stay with them. Jesus stayed and sat down with them in their home. While there, Scripture says that “he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight.”Again, this is intriguing and fascinating. Why did Jesus appear to them, conceal who He was, sit down and break bread with them, allow them to suddenly recognize Him and then vanish into thin air? Well, He did it for a reason and we should be very attentive to this.Jesus wanted those disciples, as well as all of us, to know that He who rose from the dead was very much alive and that we would recognize Him in the breaking of the bread. We would recognize Him in the Most Holy Eucharist! This appearance of Jesus to these disciples was, in fact, an appearance to teach all of us the simple truth of His presence in the Eucharist. It was at that moment, as they “took bread, said the blessing, broke it,” that Jesus was suddenly made manifest to their minds and souls. Jesus is alive in the Eucharist! But it also tells us that He is veiled in the Eucharist. This combination of being veiled and truly present gives us wonderful guidance in our faith.Jesus is here, right now, in our presence, but we most likely do not see Him. But He is truly here! These disciples were in the presence of Jesus and they did not realize it. The same is true for us. We are constantly in His presence and we do not realize it. This is especially true when we are at Mass but it is also true in countless other ways throughout our day. We must commit ourselves to seeing Him, to recognizing Him and to adoring Him. We must discover the resurrected presence of Jesus all around us.Too often we think that our Lord is present only in extraordinary ways. But that is not true! He is constantly present to us in very ordinary ways. He is here with us right now, loving us, speaking to us, and calling us to love Him. Do you see Him? Do you recognize His presence?Reflect, today, upon the experience of these disciples. If you were them, you’d be blessed to be in the presence of the Savior of the world. What an honor! The truth is that God is with you now and always. He is constantly with you and is constantly speaking with you. Look for Him and listen to His voice. You may be surprised at how near He really is.Lord, thank You for loving me so much that You are always with me. Help me to see You and to recognize Your gentle and still voice. Give me the eyes of faith to see You present in the Most Holy Eucharist, and help me to discern Your presence in every ordinary event of my day. I love You, dear Lord. We have a prayer-answering God, but do we really believe Him? Do you want to see revival? All God needs is one man or woman who can pray like Elijah, who can believe like Jesus said. Do you know what the spirit of Elijah is? To me it is the power that a man can have with God. If you knew the power that you can have, you can call down fire from Heaven, see a nation repent in a day, command the rain to come and it will – that’s the power that God has given you.Lessons from 70 years of ministry: 'For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance.' Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. He must have felt so betrayed and afraid. But he was bought by an important man and God gave him favor towards Joseph. He was soon put in charge of his master's entire household. But his wife also had favor towards Joseph and since Joseph continued to turn her down, she decided to get rid of him. She made up false rape accusations and Joseph was thrown into prison. But God was with him and he was favored by the prison keeper too and made the second in charge there also. So God was with him, but still allowed him to suffer when he had done no wrong? Why? How do we react in times of suffering? Do we trust Him? Do we question Him?
MESSAGE SUMMARY: Many of us, while seeking to know the Lord better, also, want to know His will in our lives and for the World. Additionally, we want to go deeper in our personal relationship with God. To this end, God is saying to some of us that we must start being responsible for the material things that He has provided us. Also, God tells us that we are to be good managers of His gifts. Very pointedly, God is telling us that if we can’t be responsible for the earthly treasures, which He has provided us, then how can we be responsible for His Spiritual treasures that He wants to provide us as we seek to deepen our personal relationship with Him.? TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my I Procrastination. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Self-Control. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Mathew 25:14-30; Luke 12:13-21; Romans 3:19-20; Psalms 21:1-13. Title: “Our Personal Ministry” Today’s Topic: John 3:30: He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. Scholars suggest there may have been hundreds of thousands of people who came to Jerusalem every year to celebrate the Passover. At this point in our story, however, the event is over, and everyone from out of town is heading home. John 3:22-26 Then Jesus and his disciples left Jerusalem and went into the Judean countryside. Jesus spent some time with them there, baptizing people. 23 At this time John the Baptist was baptizing at Aenon, near Salim, because there was plenty of water there; and people kept coming to him for baptism. 24 (This was before John was thrown into prison.) 25 A debate broke out between John’s disciples and a certain Jew over ceremonial cleansing. 26 So John’s disciples came to him and said, “Rabbi, the man you met on the other side of the Jordan River, the one you identified as the Messiah, is also baptizing people. And everybody is going to him instead of coming to us.” The men who followed John the Baptist were very loyal to their leader. They had followed John for a while now, and they had seen some of their colleagues who also used to follow John, leave their group, and start following Jesus. Disciples of John the Baptist were worried about earthly numbers, figures, and attendance. They were starting to see their influence diminish. They were starting to wonder what would happen if everyone stopped coming to see John the Baptist. How should the church feel if another church opens its doors across the street? Why is it hard to feel this way? John gives a very important lesson: John 3:27-30 John replied, “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven. You yourselves know how plainly I told you, ‘I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for him.’ It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the bridegroom’s friend is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success. 30 He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. John tells his disciples that you only have what God gives you. John said no one could receive anything unless God gives it from heaven! John then utters one of the most humble statements and the entire Bible. He says, "I am filled with joy at his success. He must become greater and I must become less." John also teaches his disciples that anything that we do is limited to the things that humans can do and that Jesus is not limited because he's not limited to earth. John 3:31-36 31 “He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. We are of the earth, and we speak of earthly things, but he has come from heaven and is greater than anyone else. 32 He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but how few believe what he tells them! 33 Anyone who accepts his testimony can affirm that God is true. 34 For he is sent by God. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the Spirit without limit. 35 The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands. 36 And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.” John is telling his disciples that even if you could do your best, your best is earthly, worldly, and bound by human limitations. If you're trying to give somebody advice or correct of sinful behavior, there's only so much that you can do because you're human. God can do so much more. John says, “Jesus is sent by God the Father and that Jesus speaks of God's words because the father has given the Son the Spirit without limit.” Jesus talks to people about what Our Lord has seen and heard and that he came from heaven to save the world, but nobody is believing in Him. There is a warning that people will believe the disciples of John because they're talking from a human standpoint, but what good is it if somebody believes us, but doesn't believe Jesus? That belief is worthless. If a non-believer will trust us before they trust in Jesus, what actions can we take to bring them to Jesus and finally believe in Him? Do our actions have an influence on others? Shouldn’t people in our lives who know that we are Christians expect more from us when we are in ministry? We need to be beginning our conversations with statements like, “let’s see what the Bible says,” or, “I know that God has an answer for this.” or, “we need to start working on this in prayer .” These lessons show others that we are leaning on God to direct our lives, and they can as well. John the Baptist was so adamant about biblical principles that HE WOULD NOT BUDGE. John the Baptist would "tell it like it is," and if somebody in his life was living outside of the principles of the Bible, John would call them out. Luke 3:19-20 John also publicly criticized Herod Antipas, the ruler of Galilee, for marrying Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for many other wrongs he had done. 20 So Herod put John in prison, adding this sin to his many others. Standing by his heavenly calling lead to John being sent to prison, and it will get us in earthly trouble also. The ministry of John the Baptist was to let people know that the Messiah was coming. Can you imagine what people would've thought about John the Baptist if John had wavered in his support of the gospel so that he didn't offend anyone? Would people have really followed a wishy-washy religious leader? Flimsy leaders create flimsy followers, and John was not a flimsy leader. Herod, the Roman ruler of the district of Galilee has become fed up with John talking down at the sinful lifestyle that Herod enjoys on a regular basis. Herod acted outside of the Law of Moses and he married his brother's wife. John knows this is not appropriate and Herod it is going to shut up this messenger of the Lord by throwing him in jail. Notice what John did and what John didn't do. John spoke about the wrongdoing of a government leader, but John didn't cause a revolt of the people, but rather John simply told the truth. What does the example of John the Baptist tell us about the courage we need to defend the authority of Scripture? Why is this hard? See what Jesus does once the news of the arrest to make it's way to our Lord. Matthew 4:12 When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he left Judea and returned to Galilee. John 4:4 He had to go through Samaria on the way. Threats to our ministry don't always require us to stand and fight, sometimes we need to go find new sheep. Jesus knew that the pressure was on. Only a few days ago he had caused a major disturbance at the temple in front of thousands of people. All the Pharisees saw him toss over the tables of the moneychangers, and they knew who he was. He spent a good amount of time talking to Nicodemus. Jesus understood the depth of the hatred from the Pharisees for Jesus by now. John has just been arrested, and it's easy to imagine that Jesus is going to be next. Jesus isn’t running away. He will come back and minister in this area again. For now, however, His ministry is better with Him in the field that it is with him in jail. In Matthew chapter 10, Jesus talks to His disciples about not staying too long in an area where people aren’t going to listen. Matthew 10:13–15 13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town. 15 Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town. Jesus is going to go and minister in another location. He's going to go to Galilee. There are people there who need to know about the saving grace that the son of God brings. Jesus could've stayed and argued with the people and he could have, with His heavenly power, simply changed the minds and convinced people of who he was. But that's not who He is. Sometimes, after we made our point, and after we have preached in an area, it's time to go find a new sheep. Sometimes our work in a specific area is done much sooner than we think. Sometimes God has plans for us somewhere else, to reach new people, to guide new souls to Christ who have not heard his words. What is the lesson you learned from this study?

If God alone was worthy of Jesus's worship, trust, and allegiance, surely He is worthy of ours. Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple 6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” 7 Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Matthew 4:1-7 If God alone was worthy of Jesus's worship, trust, and allegiance, surely He is worthy of ours. Temptation #1: Assert our "rights" over God's revealed will, instead of surrendering our "rights" to worship Him. Temptation #2: Insist God tell His story our way, instead of trusting God's way is best for us. What "perceived" rights do you tend to assert over God's calling, thereby worshiping yourself instead of Him? Do you demand a certain level of comfort, lifestyle, or control? Freedom from suffering or the right to spend your time/money as you please? Which details of your life is God calling you to entrust to Him who alone is worthy of your trust? What is God calling you to surrender to Him in order to tell His story, His way, for His glory and your best?
Most Christian believers are concerned about what the Bible says, because that is what they have been taught. That is what is real to them. What really matters is what Jesus says, what He said and what He is saying today. Many things are written in the Bible. The Bible is a book of many words but the only words that lead to eternal life are the words of Jesus, the words that He spoke as they were also recorded in the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the Red Letter words, in some Bibles. The only way to have eternal life is to obey Jesus, to do what He commanded and taught. Jesus Christ is the Word of God, not the Bible, as so many wrongly believe. The words of Jesus are harsh and therefor they are rejected by men. At one stage the followers of Jesus were offended at His words, of what He said. “Because of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore. So Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to go away also, do you?” Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.” John 6:66-68. Jesus has the words of eternal life, not the rest of the Bible. The Jews rejected Jesus, they were the pharisees, teachers of the Law of Moses, the Torah. They rejected the words of Jesus and therefor He said to them:”You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; 40and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.”John 5:39. Even so today, Christians are busy with Bible study because they think that if they do Bible study they will have eternal life, but they reject and disobey the words of Jesus that are also recorded in their Bibles. If we come to Jesus, He will reveal Himself to us. If we obey His words, His commands, we will be born again and become children of God who hear His voice, who know Him and follow Him. Obey Jesus, repent, stop sinning, be baptized in water, be holy, seek Him with all your heart and He will reveal Himself to you. He will speak to you, teach and guide you and if you stay with Him, every day, until the end, He will give you eternal life. Jesus said:”My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. “John 10:27 What is Jesus saying to you today? Do you know Him? Do you go after Him? Do you hear His voice and do you follow Him? Are you one of His sheep? May Jesus bless you.
The Holy Spirit plays and active role in our salvation and is also the seal and guarantee of our inheritance. Do we know Him? Do we worship Him?

What do you think about when you think about God? What are your assumptions about Him? Do you think about Love first? Growing deeper in love with God takes work—like any relationship. Feeling or thinking about love is not real love. How we understand or misrepresent God’s love as Christians either adds to or steals our calm and peace. The people of Israel did not want to hear the voice of God, and so He promised that He would send a prophet who would speak to them and tell them His word and will. He gives the law in love. But He sends Jesus, but do we hear Him yet? Have we asked to hear Him? Do we recognize His love of us? Readings are found at http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/012818.cfm. Christians are tasked above all things with getting to know God. It is not only a worthwhile endeavor, but it leads to fellowship with Him, something for which we were created.----How best to get to know God- How do we begin to learn to know Him- Do we study the Scriptures- Do we pray- Do we join a commune with other believers-----Read His Word.
Do you trust in the Lord? No, really... do you REALLY trust Him? Do you lay every aspect of your life in His hands? Every. Single. One? Total dependence? ...or do you worry? If you worry or have ever worried, this podcast is for you.
Has your soul been “transpierced” by God? Does He “pervade” you? Do you allow yourself to “dissolve” into His divinity and become “enveloped” by His Mercy? There are so many words we can use to describe our relationship with God. Though they all add to an articulation of who God is and what sort of relationship we should have with Him, none of them will ever fully be able to present the mystery of our union with Him. We are called to “oneness,” to “transformative union.” And this union is like a drop of water being placed into the mighty ocean. Slowly and surely, that drop of water is lost in the vastness of the ocean depths. So it is with God. We are called to a unity so deep and so profound that words will never suffice to speak what the soul is called to experience (See Diary #983-984).What is your relationship with God like? Are the words above even a faint description of your life of prayer and communion with Him? Do you see and experience Him interiorly, calling you to His unfathomable depths of Mercy? Or is He distant to you, seen by you as someone you talk about and are aware of, but not living a “holy fusion” with? The words we use matter because they point to the deeper reality. Reflect upon how you would describe your relationship with God. And when you find that no words suffice, you are on the right track. Most Holy Trinity, may my whole being become consumed by the brightness of Your radiance. May I become possessed by You in every way so that it will no longer be my life that is lived, but is Yours living within me, consuming me and transforming me. May I be like that one small drop of water, entering into the mighty Ocean of Mercy. Jesus, I trust in You.
How nice it is when you have a friend that you trust with every detail of your life. We long to know others and we long to be known by others. When you find someone in whom you can confide even the smallest struggle or express the smallest joy, you have found a true friend. The Lord desires to be your closest friend. You must work to foster a “detailed” relationship with Him. He knows all things and knows you better than you know yourself. But this should not prevent you from pouring your heart out to Him. You must express to Him even the slightest concerns you carry and rejoice with Him over the smallest of joys. Speaking to God about the details of life brings joy to His Heart (See Diary #921).When you speak to God, are you honest? Do you trust Him? Do you open every part of your life and face it in His presence? The Lord knows all but He wants to hear it from you in prayer. Speak to Him today. Reflect upon how often you go to Him with the smallest concern or the slightest joy. Give joy to Him today as you speak to Him as your closest friend and confidant in life.Lord, You know all things and You know me through and through. As I recognize this fact, help me to always be fully honest with You. Help my prayer to always reflect the truth of my heart. And as I speak to You about the details of my life, I allow You to enter in, to help, to heal and to rejoice in all that You reveal. Jesus, I trust in You.

MUSIC God never changes, my friend. He loves you as much today as He did Elijah the prophet. The God that knew how to take care of Elijah the prophet is going to reach into your life on every level … and provide for you … and work that miracle you need right now, this very day. If you'll learn to obey God as Elijah the prophet, God will reach nations through you, my friend. You may be a housewife. You may be a school student, a business man. You may be in the ministry. You may wonder, "How could God use me? How can God use me in my finite environment with my human incapabilities?" But, my friend, the Spirit of God knows no limits to the one that's yielded to Him. What kind of man was Elijah? He was a man like Jesus of Galilee who moved in the Spirit of God. MUSIC Can you move in the Spirit of God like Elijah did? The Bible says that, "Elijah the Tishbite, one of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab the King, the leader of the nation, 'As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there not shall be dew nor rain these years, Ahab, but according to my word.'" Elijah confessed that God was going to move in the situation. Elijah set the situation up for God. You know, the Bible tells us that, "Elijah was a man of like passions as we are." "He had the same humanistic drives," the book of James says. The same temptations. The same frustrations as you―as me―yet he prayed and it did not rain for three and a half years. He prayed again, and God brought rain to the Earth. There were probably a lot of fellows in Elijah's country on the other side of Jordan that could have done the same thing. However, Elijah had something different in his life. He spent time with God. He had told the leader of the nation, "As the LORD God of Israel, before whom I stand." You see, God's man, Elijah, stood before God daily. He had a place where he met with God. He had a place where he stood and listened to God, and where he communed and talked with God. He contacted God in the Spirit, and that's why he could move in the Spirit. Elijah knew that one of God's judgments on a wicked nation was that God would cut off rain. Elijah knew that King Ahab―the leader of the nation of Israel―had not been living godly. And Elijah knew that if he would just go confess God's Word, it would give God access to move on the Earth in that situation. If you'll confess God's Word today in your situation, God will move. God will invade your environment. Move in the Spirit. Obey God. Do as Elijah did. You see, Elijah simply set the situation up for God as he confessed and said, "Ahab, as the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years but according to my word." Elijah didn't assail to go, my friend. He went. He would do what God told him to. He was obedient to the Word of the Lord, and that's moving in the Spirit. It's when you and I are obedient to God's Word and leading. God leads you according to His will, my friend, and His will is His Word. One time I was praying in a room. I had been resting. I'd been preaching for days on the streets, and my body had been taxed. If you obey God and rest when God tells you to, you'll never hurt your body. I was resting at some facilities that a man and his wife had provided. I had a great desire, a great burning in my heart to pray for the then President of the United States -- President Nixon. I went into the room. I prayed, I don't believe longer than 15 minutes, and that great burning desire then left. It was as though the Spirit of God said, "I've answered your prayer. I'll let you reach the President, but indirectly through one of his right-hand men." Later that evening a fellow came to the place where I was staying, and he invited me to go somewhere. I didn't want to go, but I felt a strange impression to go. I felt the Spirit of God rolling inside of my being, that it had an answer for what I had prayed that afternoon. I went with that man, and that night God crossed my path with the wife of a man―a key political figure. That wife of that man prayed with me and received Messiah Jesus as her LORD. She repented of her sins. She had a new birth from above. She stayed up till about three in the morning reading her Bible, and later God touched their family, and that family has now had a ministry for years. That man was one of the leading figures―if not the key figure―in the Watergate case. You know, you never know who God will cross your path with today or tomorrow. You don't know what God's going to do through your life. You may be a younger person, an older person. You may be a person that God seemingly has left in a holding pattern. I want to tell you―if you'll open up to the Holy Spirit―the blessings of God will be aimed at you from every direction … if you'll just receive them. Yes, moving in the Spirit is being obedient to God's Word and leading. It's important to obey. The Bible tells us, "To obey is better than sacrifice." God may tell you “Put on a red sock on one foot and a green sock on the other, and go into the middle of the freeway and hold up a big Bible and preach.” (Or, down to the shopping mall and preach.) You may say, "That's stupid." Well, I imagine Elijah the prophet thought a lot of things God told him to do were stupid. They seemed foolish superficially, but Elijah had walked with God long enough that he knew the God of Israel―the God that had provided for him―would never ask him to do something for which there was not a reason. We don't have to understand the reason. All we have to do is obey. If God tells you to put a red sock on one foot and a green one on the other and to preach in the freeway, how do you know that some fool is not driving down the freeway cursing God, denying God's Son, and yet asking for a sign and saying, "God, if you'll put somebody in front of me with a red sock on one foot and a green sock on the other, then I'll receive Jesus." You don't know what God is doing in the lives of other people. One time God actually told me to preach on a freeway in Canada. I preached, and God reached a great crowd of people (as I remember there were TV crews filming an accident there). When I got back in the automobile, a preacher who was from another country said, "God's Spirit told me to do the same thing, and I disobeyed Him"? Do you know what? That was a sign to me from God, and I got blessed for doing that. God reached many people. Yes … Elijah wasn't invited to the king's palace, but he went anyway. My friend, God may send you a lot of places where you're not wanted. I remember one time that, in His divine providence, God allowed me to be arrested for preaching on the streets, and God gave me a great court trial. Before the court trial, nine people alone were saved in the jail, and I preached myself back out of the jail. I've learned that if can preach yourself in jail, you can preach yourself out of jail. It seemed foolish, but while I was in jail they put me in a room with four cement walls, a cement ceiling, and a cement floor. I said, "God, surely you wouldn't want me to preach here. Nobody can hear me?" But the Spirit of God said, "Preach," and so I preached. I started at Genesis, went to Revelation and back again, and the sound was miraculously multiplied and anointed of God, went under the steel door, through the administrative area where the secretaries and the officers were doing the bookwork, clear out into the lobby, and four college age students gave their lives to Christ out there. I want to tell you, you don't know what God's going to do. Nine were saved in the jail. Then the Lord Jesus won the court trial which was a big jury trial which extended for days. It opened up a door for street ministries all over, and gave street workers boldness in the Lord. My friend, obey God. Yes, Elijah, again, was not invited to the king's palace, and neither will you probably be invited to a lot of places. I want to tell you, the Spirit of God will send you if you'll obey, and if you don't, God will find somebody else to bless. You know, I've been to that place in Israel where Elijah went to see Ahab. He probably had some fears, some doubts at times in his life. Possibly before he went to see the leader that time. Condemnation from the enemy probably attacked his mind. Maybe depression tried to set in, but he knew how to resist it. Resist those things, brothers and sisters. You see, those are tools that the enemy uses to keep you from moving in the anointing because Satan is afraid of the anointing of God. The anointing breaks the yoke. It destroys the devil’s attacks. Messiah Jesus said, "You go in and bind the strong man, and then you can tear up his house." So, when depression or doubt hits you, just move on in. Bind the strong man, cast out his demons, and do what God has instructed YOU to do. The greatest place you can be is under the anointing. When I feel the attack of the enemy―or when I sense Satan doing things to try to confuse―I just simply pray, "God, show me a new way to reach seven new countries for Christ in the next six months just to make the Devil mad." Go on in. Get under the anointing. Will you move out in faith today instead of fear? Elijah was like Jesus―he obeyed God and the Spirit of God. He moved in the Spirit. Will you obey God? We are in our second week of the "Falling Forward" Series. This series is to get us focused on our FAITH in God. Is Jesus priority #1 in my life? This week Pastor Kamron takes us on a journey to the rain forest of South America. We are stranded and forced to live off the land for years. And someone appears among us and claims to know the way out of the jungle. Do we go with Him? Do we trust Him? When Jesus says "Follow Me Now", what is your response? Listen to today's message and see if you need to declare your FAITH once again is in Jesus alone. Is Jesus FIRST above all else?
A daily devotional through the recorded words Jesus spoke while He walked alongside us. Our website http://alittlewalkwithgod.com. Thanks for joining me today for "A Little Walk with God." I'm your host Richard Agee. Topic Introduction with headline. Scripture John 14:13-14 Jesus: Whatever you ask for in My name, I will do it so that the Father will get glory from the Son. Let Me say it again: if you ask for anything in My name, I will do it. Devotional When I was growing up, there was a show in which a multimillionaire went around the country and just arbitrarily wrote a check to people for several thousand dollars. Not worth quite as much today, but a lot of money then Never showed the millionaire's face or mentioned his name Show focused on what the recipients did with the money Some squandered the money on frivolous junk Some spent it on things that seemed like good investments, but only on themselves Some did charitable things for other people Sometimes we read these verses with that kind of thought in mind Santa is coming Get whatever we want Just ask and it will appear All we have to do is tag on His name at the end and it will happen the way we want Twisted view of these verses About His name, not ours About His ministry, not ours About His plans, not ours About His wants, not ours Jesus wants to answer our prayers to bring glory to Him which gives glory to the Father Goes back, then, to what is the Father's desires and plans for this world Desires that all will know His saving grace and follow Him That all will recognize Him as God and serve Him as God That all will come to a saving relationship with Him That all will worship Him Do our prayers reflect that attitude, that request, that outcome as an end result? He will answer He wants the glory First commandment, He is a jealous God, He will not share our devotion with anyone or anything He alone deserves our worship He wants His name untarnished Ask in His name If you want to learn more about my church, you can find us at SAF.church. If you like the devotional, share it with someone. If you don't, tell me. I hope you'll join me again tomorrow for "A Little Walk with God."
Daily Devotions from Charles Spurgeon, read by Doug Smith. To read the entire book online, visit spurgeon.org. For more information about the program, visit brotherdougsmith.wordpress.com. March 17 Fear to Fear Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. (Jeremiah 1:8) Whenever fear comes in and makes us falter, we are in danger of falling into sin. Conceit is to be dreaded, but so is cowardice. "Dare to be a Daniel." Our great Captain should be served by brave soldiers. What a reason for bravery is here! God is with those who are with Him. God will never be away when the hour of struggle comes. Do they threaten you? Who are you that you should be afraid of a man that shall die? Will you lose your situation? Your God whom you serve will find bread and water for His servants. Can you not trust Him? Do they pour ridicule upon you? Will this break your bones or your heart? Bear it for Christ's sake, and even rejoice because of it. God is with the true, the just, the holy, to deliver them; and He will deliver you. Remember how Daniel came out of the lions' den and the three holy children out of the furnace. Yours is not so desperate a case as theirs; but if it were, the Lord would bear you through and make you more than a conqueror. Fear to fear. Be afraid to be afraid. Your worst enemy is within your own bosom. Get to your knees and cry for help, and then rise up saying, "I will trust, and not be afraid."
We all want to please God. Does the scripture reveal how to please Him? Do the lives of the men like Enoch shed a clue on how to live a life pleasing to our Lord? Listen and learn to walk with God.
God has set before each of us today the choice life and good, or death and evil. (Deut. 30:15) Clinging to Him and His truths, mean life and peace to us! So, why don’t we choose to trust Him more easily? In the message "Choose Life", Pastor Jerry looks at why you should choose life over death, without God. Do you trust Him? Are you faithful to Him? Do you follow His Word? Hopefully, the answer to these questions is YES! The enemy will try and deceive you in many different ways. If you are struggling with temptation, give it to God. He is the only way to overcome it. He can give you healing in your life where it is needed. There isn't anything that can't be over come by Jesus Christ. Serving God isn't forced on you, but it is a decision that you will have to make. But I can guarantee you it will be the best decision you will ever make. Choosing God is choosing life abundant now, life eternal with HIM!
This Sunday, we will be looking at The Great Resolve. Through the person of Jesus, God resolved to save us. What is our response to Him? Do we love Him with all of our heart, soul, strength and mind as He commanded? What if we did?
Listen: MP3When we are saved we become “a new creation”, we are given new life. No matter what you did before, no matter what sin, Jesus saved you for a purpose. He will use you to further His kingdom if you are ready.Do you read the Bible daily? In not, how can He use you if you aren’t trying to know Him better? Do you pray? If not, how can He use you if you don’t talk to Him? Do you attend Church? If not, how will He use you if you won’t work with the rest of His servants? Do you tell others about Him? No? Than what more is there to say? If you loved Jesus you would tell others about Him.For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 2 Corinthians 1:20. Our ability to be used by God is limited by how much we diligently seek Him. God wants to use us in great and powerful ways, but we need to be ready. Another thing though is this; Matthew 7:7 promises “Ask, and it will be given to you;” it doesn’t promise that if you choose not to ask it will be given to you anyways. Prayer is a powerful tool given to Christians by God, use it.Please remember that God saved us from Hell by His Son Jesus Christ so that we may know we have eternal life. 1 John 5:13 Shouldn’t we tell others so that they may know too?
You don't really know a person until you live (abide) with them, right? You can visit God every Sunday, or once in a while, but do you abide in Him? Do you really know Him?
You don't really know a person until you live (abide) with them, right? You can visit God every Sunday, or once in a while, but do you abide in Him? Do you really know Him?
Description: Is adoring God most important in your relationship with Him? Do you feel stagnant if you aren't learning something new about God? These questions introduce us to two more pathways to God where the influence of the internal is the greatest.
