“Then he told John’s disciples, ‘Go back to John and tell him what you have seen and heard—the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.’ And he added, ‘God blesses those who do not fall away because of me.’” (Luke 7:22–23 NLT) *Enjoying Pastor Greg's devotional podcast? Let us know what you think with this quick survey!* John the Baptist was a forerunner of Jesus. He prepared people for Jesus’ arrival. He also confronted Herod Antipas, the ruler of Galilee, for his immorality. That landed John in prison, where he began to struggle with his faith. Specifically, John began to doubt who Jesus was. Like many people of that time, John probably thought Jesus, the Messiah, was going to overthrow the Roman government and establish His kingdom immediately. When no such thing happened, John’s doubt got the better of him. He sent a message to Jesus, asking, “Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?” (Luke 7:20 NLT). John’s faith didn’t falter because God had failed him. He doubted because he failed to understand God’s purpose and plan. Many believers today struggle for the same reason. Our faith falters not because God has been inconsistent or unfaithful, or because God has broken His promises. We experience lapses of faith because we have a false perception of what God is supposed to accomplish. Our expectations of Him are built on misconceptions and misguided thinking. We offer our prayers to Him and expect Him to answer with exact precision. And when God doesn’t come through like we asked Him to, we—like John—may start to doubt who God is. This is especially true if you’re experiencing—or want to experience—a rejuvenation in your relationship with Christ. If the devil starts to see spiritual embers catching fire in your life, he will do his best to extinguish them. One of his most effective strategies is to throw the cold water of doubt on them. John the Baptist made a spiritual mistake by not fully recognizing or understanding God’s will. But even in the depths of his doubt, he did something very, very wise: He looked to Jesus for an answer. He didn’t try to sugarcoat his struggle. He asked Jesus point-blank, “Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?” (Luke 7:20 NLT). Look closely at Jesus’ reply in Luke 7:22–23 above. He wasn’t offended by John’s question. He didn’t condemn John for his lapse in faith. And He didn’t say, “Just believe—or else!” Instead, He pointed to verifiable evidence: “The blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life” (Luke 7:22 NLT). Jesus didn’t give John a reprimand for his doubt; He gave him the hope and assurance he needed. If you struggle with a lapse of faith as John the Baptist did, don’t despair. Rethink your expectations. Take your doubts straight to Jesus. Ask Him to help you understand His purpose and His plan. When you open your heart to His truth, you’ll find that it far exceeds your greatest hopes and dreams. Silence the Storm WithinMegan J. Conner writes and speaks with raw honesty about the inner chaos that often begins before our feet even hit the floor. With candid vulnerability, she describes anxious thoughts that arrive uninvited and swirl like storms. But through Scripture—especially Psalm 131 and the calming of the storm in Luke 8—she reminds us of the One who speaks “Peace, be still” to our restless minds. Even in our spiraling thoughts, God is present. He doesn’t condemn us for the clamor; instead, He invites us into quiet, into trust, and into peace. Like a weaned child resting in safety, our souls can find calm in His embrace.

Putting God First Will Change Your Marriage If you're anything like me, you've found yourself caught in the swirl of responsibilities, relationships, expectations... and distractions. It's so easy to let the noise of life drown out the voice of God. Even in marriage—especially in marriage—it's easy to start placing our hope in the wrong thing. And when we do that, even the good things, like marriage, can become shaky ground. But what if the real anchor isn't your spouse, or your role, or your routine—but your relationship with God? Why Putting God First Can Transform Your Marriage We live in a world of constant input. Notifications, streaming, social media, endless to-dos. And if we're not intentional, those distractions steal our attention—and with it, our peace, our purpose, and our priorities. I've found that when I step away from it all—when I intentionally remove the distractions—I can finally hear God clearly again. Whether it's walking in nature without my phone or sitting in a quiet space with my journal, those moments of silence are sacred. They realign me. Because when God is clear, everything else becomes clear, too. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” —Matthew 6:33 How Husbands Can Become Spiritual Leaders in the Home Husbands, you are called to lead your home—not because you have all the answers, but because God entrusted you with that role. Leadership doesn't mean control. It means surrender. It means taking responsibility, laying down pride, and anchoring your identity in Christ—not in your wife's response. If your stability is based on her reactions, your leadership will always be shaky. But when your eyes are on Jesus, you can lead with strength, consistency, and peace—even if the journey is slow. “The wise man built his house on the rock… and it did not fall.” —Matthew 7:24-25 (paraphrased) What Biblical Respect Looks Like for Christian Wives Wives, I get it. Maybe you feel like you've had to take the reins because your husband hasn't. Maybe you feel stronger spiritually. Maybe you're just more organized. But leadership is about role—not ability. And when we as wives step out of our God-given role, we accidentally make it harder for our husbands to rise into theirs. Respect doesn't mean silence or enabling. It means honoring the role God has given him, even when it's hard. And when you do? It makes your husband feel safe, trusted, and invited to lead. Should I Still Respect My Husband If I Don't Trust Him? If your husband has let you down—or worse, betrayed your trust—you might wonder: “How do I respect a man who hasn't earned it?” That's real. But our motivation as believers isn't based on someone else's worthiness. It's based on God's worthiness. You can walk in wisdom, set boundaries, and still respect the role. Because when you show honor, you're honoring God first. (Need more on this? Search our site for our podcast: “Respect an Untrustworthy Man”) Why Most Marriages Struggle Without Spiritual Rhythms If you've been running on empty, it may be time to return to spiritual rhythms. Daily time with God. Weekly check-ins with your heart. Monthly reflection. These aren't just good habits—they're lifelines. They give you clarity, patience, and power to live out your role with joy. Even if your personality makes this hard (mine does too!), it's worth fighting for. Your family's health depends on your spiritual nourishment. What “Helper” Really Means (And It's Not What You Think) In Genesis 2, God calls Eve a “helper”—and the original Hebrew word ezer is used most often to describe God Himself as our rescuer, protector, and strength. Wives, this means your role is powerful, not passive. You have the God-given ability to uplift, empower, and even save your husband in ways no one else can. Not through control, but through encouragement, respect, and faith-filled love. When Leadership in Marriage Gets Out of Order The fall of man in Genesis didn't start with an affair or abuse. It started with misplaced leadership. Adam was present. He knew the truth. But instead of leading, he followed. Instead of obeying God, he obeyed his wife. Men, this is your reminder: you are responsible. And women, if you want your husband to lead, you have to let go of the wheel. Restoring biblical order doesn't mean a power struggle—it means peace, protection, and purpose. What to Do When You Feel Hopeless in Your Marriage You might be reading this with tears in your eyes. Maybe your marriage is hanging by a thread. Maybe you've tried everything, and nothing has worked. Maybe you're ready to give up. Don't. God sees you. He hasn't forgotten you. And no matter how far things have gone, there is still hope. Even if your spouse doesn't change right away. Even if it's just you taking the first step. Seek God first. Love your spouse like Jesus. And trust that God will do the rest. Where there is breath in the lungs, there is hope.   With love,   The Delight Your Marriage Team   PS – Ready to take the next step and learn more about our Coaching Programs? Read Online“No one patches an old cloak with a piece of unshrunken cloth, for its fullness pulls away from the cloak and the tear gets worse. People do not put new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. Rather, they pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.” Matthew 9:16–17The parable above teaches us that even if someone were to faithfully understand and live the authentic Law that was given through Moses and the prophets, Jesus' new teaching of grace, the New Law, was so different that it was not simply an improvement of the old, it completely replaced it. Furthermore, many of the customs taught by the Pharisees were unfaithful representations of the Law of Moses. They had deviated from the Law's meaning and replaced it with their own scrupulous and erroneous multiplication of external practices. Thus, Jesus' New Law needed to break away from these deviations completely. To use a modern example, if you were to have an old phone that had become obsolete or stopped working, you wouldn't buy a new phone so as to remove various parts from it to try to add those parts to the old phone to fix it. Instead, you use the new phone as a complete replacement for the old one.A central quality of the New Law of grace is that it is entirely new and transforming. Therefore, by embracing this New Law, we become entirely new creations in Christ. Grace doesn't simply patch that which is weak and sinful in us. It transforms us, elevating our human nature to an entirely new existence. This teaching is not only directed at the misguided teachings that the Pharisees had developed over the years, it was directed at human life itself. Not only were the Jewish customs to go through a transformation, humanity itself was to go through a transformation. Everything is made new in Christ. This teaching applies just as much to us today as it did to the Jewish people of old. Today, we not only receive the new life of grace in Baptism, but we also receive it anew and share in this ongoing transforming renewal every time we allow grace to touch us more deeply and transform us more fully into the people God wants us to be. The “new patch” and the “new wine” are always transforming, and we must look forward to this newness throughout our lives. Reflect, today, upon the joyful discovery that awaits you every day. Discovering the New Law of grace, accepting it into your life, and allowing it to transform you will set you on a path of discovery that will never get old. It is an ongoing discovery that is far greater than anything this world has to offer. Nothing can ever compare to the gift of God alive in our lives. It will never get old. It will always be transforming. And it will always be new. Ponder this gift God offers you today and say “Yes” to it with all your heart. My transforming Lord, You continuously offer to renew me, transform me and elevate me to the life of grace. I thank You for this Gift and desire to accept it with all my heart. May I always be ready and willing to say “Yes” to You and the transformation that awaits me as I discover this ever new treasure of Your Grace. Episode Summary: In a world that glorifies burnout, this episode invites you to step back, breathe deeply, and remember: you are not a machine. With wisdom from saints, psychologists, and mystics, we explore the healing power of rest, rhythm, and above all—humor.   Fr. Jacques Philippe reminds us that balance begins with limits. Jesus Himself rested, laughed, and lived in rhythm. And saints like Teresa of Ávila and Philip Neri teach us that true holiness is steeped in joy. Drawing from neuroscience, spiritual tradition, and the wit of G.K. Chesterton, this talk unveils a forgotten truth: laughter is not a distraction—it's a sign of spiritual maturity and trust.   Whether you're battling spiritual exhaustion or chronic self-seriousness, this episode offers a gentle reboot for your soul, your schedule, and your sense of humor.   Reflection Questions for Journaling and Prayer:   Where in your life are you resisting limits? What might God be inviting you to release? How do you experience rest? Is it true rest—or just distraction? When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried? What did that moment reveal about your soul? Do you take yourself too seriously? What would it mean to become “light enough to fly”? How might joy and mirth be signs that you're finally trusting the Father's care?

It's a bold, "punk as fuck" stand against authoritarian bigotry and religious overreach, revealing how deeply threatened some are by inclusivity and basic human decency. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, and happy Fourth of July to all our listeners tuning in today! In this episode, your host Hunter invites you to join him as he journeys through day 186 of the year, reading from 2 Kings 15 and 16, Hosea 1, and Hebrews 1. Together, you'll witness the tumultuous reigns of Israel and Judah's kings, the heartache and prophecy in the story of Hosea, and the ultimate message of hope and love declared in the opening chapter of Hebrews. Hunter encourages us to hear not just words of judgment, but Christ's words of belonging and love spoken over our lives. As you listen, you'll be guided through prayer, reflection, and a reminder that—no matter where you are or what day it is—you are truly loved. So grab your Bible, settle in, and let's let the Scripture shape our hearts today. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God's final word is not judgment, but life. Throughout the long story of Israel, we see a heartbreaking pattern—God reaching out in love through the prophets, but the people turning away again and again. The story we heard today, through the tragedy of Hosea and Gomer, is a vivid picture of this unfaithfulness: Israel behaving like a wayward spouse, wandering far from her first love. The consequences are deeply painful—names like “Not Loved” and “Not My People” are spoken over Israel, words that carry the weight of loss and separation from God. But God doesn't leave the story there. His final word to us isn't one of rejection or shame. The book of Hebrews begins by telling us that, though God once spoke through the prophets, now he has spoken to us by his Son. And the words that Christ speaks over us are utterly different. They are words of embrace, words of forgiveness and peace, words that say, “You are my people and you are loved.” Through Jesus, God has made a way for us to come home. Not by our own striving, not by following a set of laws or rituals, but by receiving the gift of his love and belonging poured out through Christ. The words that once named us “outsiders” are replaced by the words of the gospel: “Beloved, you belong.” Wherever the message of Jesus is received, hearts are changed. The reality of belonging, being chosen and loved by God, takes root deep inside, and everything changes. So today, hold fast to these words that Jesus speaks over you. Don't let the old words of judgment or shame take hold. Let the gospel's word—“You are mine, you are loved”—sink in and bring you peace. That is my prayer for my own soul today. That is my prayer for my family—for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that is my prayer for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

In this episode of Christ the Center, Camden Bucey is joined once again by Lane Tipton and Carlton Wynne for a substantive follow-up to their earlier discussion of Keith Mathison's Toward a Reformed Apologetic: A Critique of the Thought of Cornelius Van Til. In the months since their first review, Dr. Mathison published a blog response, prompting deeper analysis and clarification. Together, Drs. Bucey, Tipton and Wynne explore key critiques Mathison levels against Van Til, especially the claims of epistemological idealism and the so-called “omniscience requirement” for true knowledge. The panel addresses these concerns with thoughtful care, highlighting Van Til's emphasis on covenantal epistemology, the distinction between psychological and ethical knowledge, and the non-neutrality of unbelieving thought. The episode also tackles Mathison's treatment of common grace and the antithesis—core concepts in Van Til's apologetic system. Does Van Til teach that unbelievers attain true knowledge by way of common grace? What is the actual function of common grace in a fallen world? And how does Van Til preserve the absolute ethical antithesis between belief and unbelief without denying shared external reality or meaningful engagement? This is a clarifying and edifying conversation for anyone interested in Reformed theology, presuppositional apologetics, or the legacy of Cornelius Van Til. It was your faith that brought you into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Faith was your response to the grace of God. The Bible says we are saved by our faith in Jesus. Yet, God is not just asking us for faith that leads to salvation. He's asking for daily faith.Main Points:1. Everyday, you and I live by faith. Every day we must trust God. We trust him for our spiritual growth. We place our faith in him to lead and guide our steps and our future. We live by faith as we put our families, their health, and safety in His hands. 2. Our knowledge is limited. We don't know what a day will bring. We certainly don't know what tomorrow holds for us. So, we live by faith. Daily, we choose to trust our lives to the hands of God. 3. I know sometimes I'm like Peter. I take my eyes off of Jesus and I begin to look at the wind and the waves. I've noticed that what I focus on gets bigger in my life. If I focus on life's circumstances and the uncertainties of tomorrow, they get larger in my mind. But if I intentionally focus on Jesus, He is magnified. Today's Scripture Verses:Matthew 14:29 - “Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.”Matthew 14:30-31 - “But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”Galatians 2:20 - “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.” (Romans 5:1–2 NLT) *Enjoying Pastor Greg's devotional podcast? Let us know what you think with this quick survey!* When we come to Christ, He not only forgives us of our sin, but He also justifies us. The apostle Paul explained justification in his letter to the Romans: “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us” (Romans 5:1 NLT). Salvation has to do with what takes place in believers’ hearts, but justification has to do with our standing before God. In salvation, God gives us new life, but justification goes beyond that. When God justifies us, He declares us righteous in His sight. “Just-as-if-I’d never sinned” is one way the word justified has been explained. God not only forgives us, but He sees us as if we had never sinned. He removes our sin, and in its position, He places the perfect righteousness of Christ. That’s a difficult concept for a lot of people to grasp. Our human instinct is to remember those who wronged us. We elevate holding grudges to an art form. We like to throw around phrases like, “Revenge is a dish best served cold.” The Bible makes it clear, though, that God has a different way of looking at things. As far as He’s concerned, Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross—the blood He shed there—covers our sins. The apostle John put it this way: “But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7 NLT). The author of Hebrews wrote, “For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22 NLT). And the apostle Paul wrote, “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them” (Romans 4:7–8 NIV). When God looks at believers, He doesn’t see people who have failed Him time and time again. Instead, He sees His Son. And He made His feelings about His Son quite clear in Matthew 3:17: “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased” (NIV). Sometimes we allow our sins to linger in our consciousness long after they’ve been forgiven. They live rent-free in our heads, messing with our self-esteem. In extreme cases, they can play havoc with our spiritual and emotional health. That’s why it’s important to see ourselves as God sees us. Imagine that your checking account is overdrawn, and you owe your bank thousands of dollars. Not knowing what else to do, you go to the ATM, enter your PIN, and discover that you have a balance of five million dollars. Best of all, it’s a legitimate transaction! You did nothing to earn it, but the windfall is yours. God has done something much more meaningful for those who believe in Christ. He has given us righteousness. He has made us justified. Reflection question: How would you explain justification to someone who’s struggling with guilt? Romans 2:1 — It is easy to identify sin in other people but rationalize one's own sin. That is the very problem of the Jews that Paul explains in this sermon on Romans 2:1. Titled “Judged According to Truth”, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones warns the listener to be careful passing judgement on others because the same measure will be used on them. Dr. Lloyd-Jones walks through the condemnation of sin and how this gospel applies to everyone. Both the Jews and the Gentiles are without excuse and in danger of God's wrath. Severe sins may be explained in the law and yet one may feel that condemnation does not apply to them since they are not “that bad.” Instead Paul warns that God's judgement is always based on truth and His standard never changes. No one can measure up to that standard on their own and it is only by the gospel that Paul is preaching that can save and Christ brought that salvation. Instead of putting the condemnation on others and their sin, each should turn their own eyes to the truth of the Lord and make sure they are always aligning their truth with God's truth. Gospel Matthew 9:9-13 As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, ""Follow me."" And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, ""Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"" He heard this and said, ""Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.""  Reflection If one looks for a description of the ministry of Jesus, this is a perfect passage. Certainly he came to give us an example, he wants us to follow his ways. And what he shocks the institution at the time of the temple is that instead of seeking only righteous people, spending time with him, he went to those that they were told to avoid. He went to sinners. And the beauty of that is that he has in that action described a key element to his ministry. Mercy, unmerited love. To have that gift, to be in that kind of relationship with others is the key to the Kingdom. Closing Prayer Father, it's so easy for us to become negative about those around us who aren't fully what we think they should be. Never let us fall into the trap of criticism and judgment and condemnation. But always, always place within us a longing, a desire for people to change, to grow, to become what their destiny truly is. And we ask this in Jesus' name, Amen. Learn more about your ad choices. Two more events round out the account of Hezekiah's reign in Judah. When Hezekiah becomes sick and learns that he will die, the king does not react to the LORD's Word with despair but with faithful prayer, calling upon the LORD to remember. The LORD's answer through Isaiah is immediate, promising life from death for Hezekiah. The LORD graciously gives Hezekiah a sign that His Word is true, which Hezekiah receives in faith rather than unbelief like his father Ahaz. When Babylonian envoys come to Hezekiah, however, he receives them as a potential military ally, as his father Ahaz had once wrongly trusted in Assyria. When Hezekiah hears of the LORD's coming judgment, he responds with indifference. Hezekiah was a faithful king, to be sure, but even he needed the Savior who would be born from his line, Jesus.  Rev. David Appold, pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Paducah, KY, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study 2 Kings 20:1-21.  To learn more about St. Paul's Lutheran, visit www.stpaulpaducah.org. "A Kingdom Divided” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through 1-2 Kings. The division in the kingdom of Israel in this part of history was greater than a matter of north and south. The biggest division was between the people and their God. Yet even as the people rebelled against the LORD as their King, still He remained faithful to call them back to Himself through His prophets, working through history to send the good and gracious King, Jesus Christ. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

So Good To Be Clean - #10040

    A Word With You

Our son had just arrived in the southwestern United States to begin his work with Native Americans there. In fact, his supervisor in his non-profit work was a Native American. And our son was eager to show that he was coming with a servant spirit, you know. He had a tremendous opportunity to do just that. His supervisor needed his help in cleaning out a septic system. The job began with our son's hands having to work in that sewage. But the job got more and more involved and so did his body. Before he was finished, he was in that septic sewage up to his waist! Needless to say, he never felt more disgusting in his life. And then came the shower; that long, wonderful, heavenly shower! He said "Dad, I have never felt so dirty in all my life, and it never felt so good to be clean!" I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "So Good To Be Clean." Getting really clean after you've felt really dirty is a great feeling; one that you might be ready for - on the inside. So many of us carry the awful burden of the mistakes we've made. We've got guilt and regrets that weigh us down, maybe for some destructive choices we've made or some compromises or some sin we wish we could go back and erase. Sometimes it can feel disgusting like all that dirt that covered our son that day. We wonder if there's any way to get really clean, to finally be free of the weight of it all, the dirt, the guilt, the shame. When Mark Twain was asked what were the two most important words in the English language, he said. "Not guilty." But when we know we are guilty, how can we ever experience the freedom of those two glorious words? There is wonderful, cleansing news today. Yes, it's in our word for today from the Word of God in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. God is talking to people who've got a past. He mentions "the sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, homosexual offenders, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, slanderers, swindlers." And He delivers the bad news that those kind of people will never make it to heaven. It sounds hopeless until God turns on His cleansing shower in the next verse. He says, "And that is what some of you were." Did you get that? Were? You mean I can be free from the guilt and shame of the past? How? Well, He says, "But you were washed, you were sanctified (which means you were made special), you were justified (that means you were made right with God) in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." The liberating message God has for you and me is this: whatever you've done, whatever you've become doesn't ever have to matter again. Jesus Christ offers you the shower of a lifetime, to forgive every sin you've ever committed, to declare you "not guilty," to open the doors of heaven to you as a new, spiritually clean person. The forgiveness Jesus died to give you becomes yours when you tell Jesus that you're trusting Him to be your Rescuer from your sin. And at that moment the shower of God washes you completely clean for the first time in your life - and clean forever. Don't you want that? The past erased from God's Book? It happens when you say, "Jesus, I'm yours. You died for my sin. I'm putting all my trust in You and what You did on that cross." I pray you'll go to that cross and get forgiven today. Listen, if you go to our website you will have all the information you need from God's Word to be sure you belong to Him. That website is ANewStory.com. So many people have told me how they felt when they made this choice for Jesus. They've said, "It's like a huge weight was lifted off my back." That can happen to you right now, right where you are. And you can know how good it feels to finally be clean.

Our Mothers Knew It with Maria EckersleyA Creative Study of Come, Follow MeD&C [DD&C 76]“Great Shall Be Their Reward and Eternal Shall Be Their Glory”July 7 – July 13, 2025WEEK 28 SUMMARY=================Doctrine and Covenants 76 is a profound revelation given to Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon in 1832, often referred to as "The Vision." It unveils the plan of salvation and the afterlife, describing the three degrees of glory: the Celestial, Terrestrial, and Telestial kingdoms. The vision begins with a testimony of Jesus Christ and His role as the Savior. It then details the fate of those who will inherit each kingdom, emphasizing the importance of faith, repentance, and obedience to the gospel. The Celestial Kingdom is reserved for those who receive the testimony of Jesus, are baptized, and keep the commandments, becoming joint-heirs with Christ. The Terrestrial Kingdom is for honorable people who were not valiant in their testimony of Jesus. The Telestial Kingdom is for those who did not receive the gospel or the testimony of Jesus in the flesh. The revelation also touches on the fate of the sons of perdition, who deny the Holy Spirit after having received it. This section of the Doctrine and Covenants provides a comprehensive view of the afterlife, highlighting God's mercy and justice.SPARK 1: REDEFINING VICTORY================OBJECT LESSON: “I Will Reveal All Mysteries”: Unfolding Revelation CardSPARK 2: VESSELS OF WRATH===================================OBJECT LESSON: “Valiant in the Testimony of Jesus”: Temporary CastsSPARK 3: SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN=============================OBJECT LESSON: “As The Moon Differs from The Sun”: $100 Bill AnalogyCHAPTERS=========00:00:14 INTRO00:04:26 QUICK GLANCE00:07:44 SPARK 1 INSIGHTS00:16:09 SPARK 1 OBJECT LESSON00:20:20 SPARK 1 QUESTIONS00:22:20 SPARK 2 INSIGHTS00:31:06 SPARK 2 OBJECT LESSON00:35:39 SPARK 2 QUESTIONS00:38:26 SPARK 3 INSIGHTS00:47:32 SPARK 3 OBJECT LESSON00:52:28 SPARK 3 QUESTIONS00:55:31 WRAP UPLINKS=====WEB: https://www.gather.meckmom.comETSY: https://www.etsy.com/shop/meckmomINSTAGRAM: Instagram @meckmomlifePODCAST: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST DISCLAIMER=================================This podcast represents my own thoughts and opinions. Getting fit takes willpower. Earning a degree takes determination. Reaching your career goals takes hard work. In short, success takes commitment. And the same is true when it comes to your finances. Today, we'll explore what changes when you commit to managing money God's way. You've heard the saying, “Things worth doing are worth doing well.” And when it comes to your finances, there are certainly some things worth doing—like saving for the future, creating a spending plan, paying down debt, giving generously, and living with honesty and integrity. If you want to see real results in any area of life, it's going to take effort—sometimes a lot of it. And that's true for your financial life, too. Following biblical financial principles takes determination, planning, patience, and even sacrifice. So, why is it worth the effort?Because while commitment requires something of us, it also gives something to us. When we live with faith and integrity in our finances, we experience peace, contentment, and even joy. It's not just about doing the right thing—it's about being transformed more and more into who God wants us to be.Joining God in His WorkWhen you honor Him with your finances, you join in His work, bringing mercy and blessing to others. And as you experience His provision personally, your faith deepens, and your story becomes a testimony to encourage others. The Bible is filled with examples of faithful commitment. Hebrews chapter 11 is sometimes called the “Hall of Faith” because it highlights men and women who trusted God, even when they couldn't see the outcome. Abraham, Moses, Rahab—they placed their hope in God's promises before Christ ever came. But the ultimate example of commitment is Jesus Himself. Hebrews 12:2 says:“For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”A Savior who gave everything to redeem us is more than worthy of our full devotion in return.Faith lies at the heart of such a commitment, especially when it comes to finances. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as:“Confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”That means trusting God's promises, even when circumstances feel uncertain.Who's Really in Charge? So, committing to manage money God's way starts with faith, but it also requires surrender. That means asking: who's really in charge—me, or the Lord?In Matthew 6:24, Jesus says:“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”That's a heavy reminder for all of us. We can't be fully committed to both God and money. One will always take priority, and when it's not the Lord, we will feel that tension. Here are a few honest questions to consider:Do financial worries consume your thoughts?Do you find yourself chasing more and more money, more stuff, more status? Is your sense of security tied to your job or investments? If you answered yes to any of those, you're not alone. Many of us wrestle with divided hearts. It's easy to lean on what we can see, especially when life feels uncertain. But money, career, or comfort can never offer the lasting peace only God provides.Choosing to follow God's financial principles takes daily trust and perseverance. Galatians 6:9 offers this encouragement:“Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”Another gift of commitment is the encouragement we receive from God's people. You weren't meant to follow Jesus—or manage your finances—on your own.Colossians 3:12–15 paints a powerful picture of Christian community:“As God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience… Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.”If you've ever felt like giving up on your budget or putting off your giving goals, you're not alone—we all face struggles. But if everything were easy, we'd never grow stronger.Walking With YouThat's why we're here at FaithFi—to walk alongside you. Whether you're just starting out or have walked this path for a long time, we want to offer help rooted in grace, wisdom, and truth. Most of all, we want you to experience the joy of following Jesus with every part of your life, including your finances. Because true freedom doesn't come from having more—it comes from trusting the One who gave everything for you.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I turned 65 in March and am now eligible for Medicare; however, I remain employed and have employer-sponsored health insurance that includes an HSA, which I continue to contribute to. I've received conflicting information—can I delay Medicare enrollment and still have both my employer and I contribute to my HSA?I'm a 73-year-old widow and have been retired since 2017. When I retired, I rolled my 401(k) into an IRA, and that money is currently sitting in a Fidelity money market account. I also have an emergency fund with about $50,000. Given my situation, what would you recommend I do?I'm a recent immigrant to the U.S. and travel frequently to visit family abroad, which has led to long employment gaps. Even though I have an excellent credit score, I'm having trouble getting approved for housing because landlords and lenders want to see consistent income. From the Heart of Spurgeon
A Home Question and a Right Answer (S1646)

    From the Heart of Spurgeon

This sermon cuts deeply in order to probe carefully. It is Spurgeon in typically and painfully sober mode. The sermon puts to each hearer the question which Christ asked of his disciples at a season of mass desertion: “Will you also go away?” Searching deeply into our hearts, Spurgeon first asks why Christ asked this question of his twelve disciples, looking at the defections which were taking place. Then he takes the question itself, and this is perhaps the most painful element of the sermon, as Spurgeon points out the contagion of desertion, and how it would cut through the twelve themselves, and the importance of a thoughtful and voluntary attachment to Christ himself. After the wound, the balm: our preacher then considers the three elements of Peter's answer, an answer which we ourselves should give to our divine Leader. So he concludes with the heartfelt plea, “By thy faithfulness, O Lord, keep us faithful!” Is Spurgeon being harsh or hard? Is he trying to unsettle the faithful? Is he deliberately assaulting faith? No, here is a true-hearted minister in difficult times bringing needful warnings to the souls of his congregation, not carelessly undermining but deliberately probing to ensure that we have a good foundation.
