In Chapter fourteen of The Chronicles of Belteshazzar, Naaman and his guards come to rescue Daniel just as the four assassins are about to trap Daniel.  After rescuing him, Naaman makes sure that nothing else happens to Daniel before he must appear before Nebuchadnezzar to interpret his dream.   As Daniel finished interpreting the dream, word of rioting reaches the Court.  It seems that a rumor has spread that the Ashkelonites killed Daniel, causing the Hebrews to riot and seek revenge.  I conclude the episode by talking about an experience in which a business relationship I had entered into had fallen apart.  I was faced with a choice: I could become spiteful, and seek revenge, or I could reconcile and seek to forgive the other party.  I've begun the process of preparing The Chronicles of Belteshazzar for publication.  To learn more about this, visit https://www.wisejargon.com/chronicles

In Today's Secular Uncertainties, God is Sovereign; and God “the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he {God} will” MESSAGE SUMMARY: Political discord and health care uncertainties surround us in all directions today. Without Jesus in our lives, we have reasons to be anxious and fearful. However, Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:31: “Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.”. The future years may hurt our pride, wallets, and/or our freedom. On the other hand, we should not let the current secular political environment and culture hinder our resolve to continue in our fearless faith in the truth; our constant hope in the future; and our radical love for our neighbors. God has a plan; and, regardless of how things look from our eyes, we must remain faithful to His purpose. Now is the time to draw near to Jesus and to advance His Kingdom. Our gaze must remain on Jesus if we want to walk on the water during the storm. God is the King of Kings and the Sovereign God of the Universe. As Daniel interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar's dream in Daniel 4:17 when God told Nebuchadnezzar: “to the end that the living may know that the Most High {God} rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he {God} will and sets over it the lowliest of men.”. God is always involved in our lives, and He gives the government offices “to whom he will”, even if the political processes produce “the lowliest of men {or women}”. Sometimes, we receive the elected officials we need, and sometimes we receive the elected officials that we deserve; but God is always Sovereign and faithful.   TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, I confess that when difficulties and trials come into my life, large or small, I mostly grumble and complain. I realize the trials James talks about are not necessarily “walls,” but they are difficult to bear, nonetheless. Fill me with such a vision of a transformed life, O God, that I might actually consider it “pure joy” when you bring trials my way. I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief. In Jesus' name, amen.                   Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 94). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. As kids, we ran to our parents’ room to escape the monsters under the bed. But what becomes our safe place as we get older?Where do you turn when you’re scared, get bad news, or your world falls apart? Some run to a friend or special place. Some try to hide by getting lost in a TV show or movie. Others numb the pain by leaning on alcohol and other substances. In Daniel 9, Daniel gets devastating news: Jerusalem, the city he loves, must lie desolate for 70 years. But instead of running from the fear and pain, Daniel turns to the Lord. Daniel 9:3 says, “So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with Him in prayer and petition…” When bad things happen, our first instinct is often to run. We beg God to remove us from the situation as quickly and as pain-free as possible. But Daniel doesn’t do that. Instead, he acknowledges that God’s punishment is deserved and takes responsibility for Israel’s disobedience (Daniel 9:5-14). Then, Daniel repents and asks for forgiveness (Daniel 9:15-16). Allowing ourselves to experience grief over our sin is the first step to moving past it. Not numbing or running from conviction is the spiritual equivalent of shining a light under the bed. By allowing ourselves to see the situation as it is, we can begin the process of replacing what the lies we believed with the truth of the Bible. We have face reality to change reality. When we rush to get out from under the pain, we miss out on what God wants to do in our pain. As Daniel was praying, a messenger from God reminded him, “... you are very precious to God” (Daniel 9:23). Israel still experienced the consequences of their behavior, but it didn’t last forever and it put an end to their sin (Daniel 9:24). Like Daniel, you are precious to your father in heaven. God hears you, and He loves you too much to let you stay in your sin. Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/yourdailybible)

On her college volleyball team, my granddaughter learned a winning principle. When the ball came her way, no matter what, she could “better the ball.” She could make a play that left her teammates in a better situation—without throwing tantrums, blaming, or making excuses. Always make the situation better. That was Daniel’s response when he and three Hebrew friends were taken into captivity by Babylon’s king Nebuchadnezzar. Although they were given pagan names and ordered to three years of “training” in the enemy’s palace, Daniel didn’t rage. Instead, he asked permission not to defile himself in God’s sight by eating the king’s rich food and wine. As this intriguing Bible story shows, after consuming nothing but vegetables and water for ten days (Daniel 1:12), Daniel and his friends “looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food” (v. 15). Another time, Nebuchadnezzar threatened to kill Daniel and all palace wise men if they couldn’t repeat the king’s disturbing dream and interpret it. Again, Daniel didn’t panic, but sought mercy “from the God of heaven,” and the mystery was revealed to him in a vision (2:18–19). As Daniel declared of God, “wisdom and power are his” (v. 20). Throughout his captivity, Daniel sought God’s best despite the conflicts he faced. In our own troubles, may we follow that example, making the situation better by taking it to God.

Day 8 – Lenten Prayer and Reflection – 1st March 2021   This morning we have readings from the book of Daniel and also from the gospel of St. Luke. Before we go into that, the Lord is speaking to us through Daniel about the attitude and nature of our mind He is calling us to have. If you look at the book of Daniel, it is a book about a person in exile. Daniel was a foreigner, Daniel was in exile, Daniel was at the mercy of the king. That's how he was called to live his life. We will think that this was only the story of Daniel. But the reality is this is the story of every Christian, of you and me. We are people in exile, living away from the promised land. Our home is in heaven and we await that home, and therefore we are called to have the same attitude, life and heart that Daniel had. In fact Philippians 3:20 tells us our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. This tells us very clearly we do not belong here. So often people say, why don't you apply to Australia? Why don't you get your green card? Why don't you move away? We think it's going to be a lovely time if we go away, happily ever after. But we know as we travel all over the world, that everywhere people have the same problems, the same difficulties, the same challenges to face and it's never a greener pasture, but every family goes through different problems. In fact I just spoke to a person last night who said for 10 years he was in love, got married, went abroad and within a few months the family broke up. So he would have thought going abroad would have been the best idea possible but when they went there they had to face challenges. Anyway, we are Christians in exile. What happened to Daniel? Daniel had been taken by King Nebuchadnezzar from Jerusalem and placed in Babylon. The king had asked for the best people, the cleverest, the most handsome, the most promising people and he had taken them all away and placed them under his care in the palace in Babylon. They were supposed to eat a certain food, they were supposed to be nourished and they were supposed to provide the king with answers to well his problems. This was the life Daniel went through. But if you look at the book of Daniel, he went through different kinds of experiences. The king would suddenly build a statue or see a dream and then he would have to answer the dream. Suddenly there would be writing on the wall -- different kinds of experiences in every chapter. As we come to chapter 9 that's a place where they say it's a pause for prayer. In that chapter, Daniel devotes his time to prayer and that is the chapter we have been given today, where Daniel pauses in prayer to God. Before we go into that chapter, there are certain things we can learn from Daniel as he lived in exile in Babylon under the king. First of all, do not be impressed by applause or gifts. Daniel was there, he began to answer questions, he began to reveal mysteries and the king promised him this and that. But here was a person who was not impressed, whose heart and mind was fixed on God. That is reflected in the reading for today. His mind was fixed on God, he knew his salvation was in the God of heaven and not in the king. He was never impressed with what the king had to promise him. When the king asked for him to be fed very well, but he did not want to defile himself, and therefore they had their special food which they ate and they never drank the wine, and it is said that it was found that Daniel and his friends were ten times more filled with wisdom and healthier that the other people who were fed all the kings rations and food. There was a distinct favour of God upon Daniel, because he always fixed his gaze on God. Secondly, do not be intimidated by the world's threats. Each time the king had a dream, or saw something, or was told that "Daniel has mocked your gods," the king came forward and said, "I'm going to throw you to lions, I am going to kill you" but Daniel was never intimidated by threats. He always turned to God and sought answers in God.   Then, do not be infected by religious practices, what people do. For example, we know in Sri Lanka if a boy wants to get a girl in an office, the first thing he has to do is spike her drink with something or with some charm, and get her together. Then she falls in love with him, he takes her and they are supposed to be happily married. But recently I saw a testimony where a certain person charmed a girl and they got married and the family life began happily, but within four months the charm wore off and the girl wanted to break up the family. If we live according to the world's behaviour, ways or practices, we will never be happy, there will never be a lasting solution. So Daniel also was invited to worship this god and that god, but he stuck to the living God. Don't get caught up by gifts, do not be intimidated by the threats you receive, and do not follow the practices of others but follow the living God. Finally, we are called to be God's partners, in whatever we do, we seek God's face and we partner with God to do what He wants us to do. Here Daniel, like a movie, suddenly he's going through a problem, suddenly he's going through a threat, suddenly he's thrown to lions, suddenly he has to go and kill dragon, and in all this he was partnering with God, and in certain moments God revealed Himself to him in all glory as God saved him from these situations. It is said in the last book of Daniel, where he was in the pit with lions, that the prophet Habakkuk was sent and he dropped in a certain food because Daniel was for seven days with the lions and this prophet dropped in a little preparation of food for him to drink and to survive in the lion's pit. As Daniel partnered with God, he saw the glory of God, and God was in love with him and God was with him in that experience. We also see this in Exodus 3:7-8. Exodus 3:7-8 The Lord said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. This word tells us that today, if we are going through some bad experience, if we are going through some brokenness, if we are going through some suffering, there is a God, who is looking at our misery, who is hearing our cry, who is seeing our tears and He is concerned about our suffering. This was the experience of the Israelites in the desert, and this was the experience of Daniel in the lion's den, and in every experience he had, where he depended upon on the living God. As I said, Daniel reminds us that although God may sometimes allow us to suffer, He is always at hand, always able to free us, He sometimes offers us a glimpse of His coming glory. It is said, that the book of Daniel is also a book of revelation, prophecy about the future. If you look at it with the book of Revelation, there are different things about the future, about the Son of Man, and it's mystical, at the same time, it is a call for us and a teaching for us, how to live our journey with the Lord. What does the Christian do in exile? How does he live? Does he complain? Does he cry? Does he blame the others for what he's going through? No, he seeks the heart and mind of Christ. And today's readings are all about seeking the heart and mind of Christ. During this time of lent, we seek the heart and mind of Jesus. Let's go to the readings. It's taken from Daniel 9:4-10. It is Daniel pausing for prayer because we have all kinds of experiences throughout Daniel, and when you come to chapter 9, Daniel begins to pray a long prayer.   Daniel 9:4 I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed: "O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, The first line says, "I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed." In fact the first song we sang today was, "Come, now is the time." Confess that He's God, that song asks us to confess. So confess does not just mean to go for confession or to confess your sins, but give the truth and say, "Lord, You are God. Lord, You are in control. This Monday morning as I begin my week, as I face challenges, I'm here Lord, and time is moving and I have to leave for work, but I confess You are God. That You are in control of every situation I am going to face. You are in control of every decision I make today and during this week. We confess." Generally we can confess, "Oh my God, so much of suffering. So many things to do, I don't know where to stand, where to go." Or we can confess as Daniel confessed. What did he confess? He said, "O Lord, the great and awesome God." He didn't say, "Oh Lord my schedule is so busy, my problems are so big." He confessed that God is great and awesome. He confessed that God is bigger than his situation. That God is greater than his challenges, that God is above everything he's facing. And this is the first principle of a renewed mind, we are called to have a renewed mind. We can go to God giving our list of problems, list of challenges, but this morning as you stand before God, you tell Him, "Oh God, great and mighty God, you are above it all, you are my King of Kings, you are my Lord of Lords and you are still in control." I remember when I had a problem and I was called to the immigration and I was told, "Buy your ticket and leave this country." The verse that came from the word said, "Not by flight. You will not leave this country by flight, you will be here." So I had innumerous threats over two years but I never had the need to leave the country and go away. Though they called me every time and said, "Where is your ticket? Why didn't you leave?" The word said, no, God is greater. God is above and God is in control. The first principle of a renewed mind is to acknowledge that God is greater. Do not try to deal with the crisis first. So often we are in love with the crisis. "Oh I have this problem, I have that problem. I cannot pay this" -- we're looking at the problem, we are loving the problem, we're embracing the problem, we are living with the problem, but we are called to fix our gaze on God, turn your gaze to the living God who has an answer. He knows you are in exile, He knows you feel like a stranger, He knows you have nowhere to turn to and He is in love with you. In the book of Daniel, God says, in the next chapter, that He loves Daniel. That He cares for Daniel. It was not just a God who came and did powerful things, it was a God who was in love with Daniel. The first chapter says, God's favour was on Daniel. His favour, His mercy. This morning as we go through this ancient reading, God is telling you: "My favour and love are with you. You may feel you are in exile, but I love you and I care for you." So if the crisis is coming to you, refuse to deal with it first. Refuse to deal with the crisis -- you have no answers. But go to the feet of the Lord and struggle with your human nature, which says there are no answers, there is no way forward. Have that struggle before the Lord. This was the same experience of Nehemiah as he was faced with the struggle and had to build the wall, he went to the Lord and he acknowledged the greatness of God. Remember who God is. God is above. God is able. With God all things are possible, and that's what you must be confessing. How can you confess it if your mind is not renewed? How do you renew your mind? By looking at the word, but looking at the life of Daniel, by reading the life of Nehemiah and the life of other people in the word of God. As we read the word of God our mind gets renewed.   I remember about a month ago on YouTube there is a video of an Iranian woman and man who came to experience the Lord. It was a long journey, but the beautiful part of it was they were staunch Muslim and that was their background. They had all the arguments, they knew in theory that the Bible had all the answers, that Jesus Christ was the Saviour, but they couldn't get themselves to accept this word. But when they had moved to Toronto and they were living alone in an apartment, husband and wife, and they had time on hand and they had to find their way forward, that's when they began to read the word of God. It is said, they read the word of God from 5 in the evening to 7 in the morning the next day. The whole night, they just lapped up the word of God. They never knew English, so they had the dictionary beside them, they were looking at words -- if you said the word Revelation, they would open the book and see what's the meaning of revelation. Every word they had to find that English meaning. But in a few days, as they began reading the word of God, first the man felt a presence in the room, and he just burst out crying and he experienced the power of the word of God, and his mind was renewed. And the wife said, "You know Lord, if you can do that to him, you can do that to me." Two days later, as she read the word of God like that, suddenly when she came to 1 John 1, and that chapter about God's love -- "While we were sinners God loved us -- as she read about that, she burst out crying and she experienced the presence of the living God. How do you renew your mind? How can you become a person like Nehemiah or Daniel? But looking at the promises, by reading the word of God, and spending time with Him. You will begin to think like them, you'll begin to respond to situations like Daniel and Nehemiah. So in this case, first, Daniel talks about the greatness of God. "Oh, Lord, great and awesome God." And it was the same with Nehemiah who said, "Remember who God is." Do not cling to your problem, to your situation, but turn and look at the greatness of God. He is greater than my problem. This morning as you think of a challenge you are facing, as you think of a person suffering and you're praying for, speak to that problem and say, "My God is greater than that issue. My God is alive, my God has the answers, and my God can do wonders." Daniel 9:5 We have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. As Nehemiah did, Daniel is repenting. He's repenting for himself, for his country men and country women. If you look at that glass in the darkness, the water will seem so pure, so clean, like American drinking water, as they say it in the cans. But when you take that glass and as you hold it close to a source of light, you will see particles moving in that supposedly clean water. You'll see little particles. And that tells us as we go closer to the light, as we go deeper into the presence of God, we begin to see our sinfulness. We begin to see our true nature. Until then we say, "No no, I have no sin. I'm great, I never criticize people, I love everyone. I'm good. I'm so holy, I do my prayers," but as you go into the presence of God, God will reveal to you your nature, the way you speak. Everything will become very clear to you and that's when you will be called to repent. He knew his people. He must have been a person who was praying but generally not living with a transformed mind. Don't waste your time repenting about your husband or wife or child. Repent for the wrong you have done. Whenever we have a crisis this person has caused the breakup. Do not look at the other person. You also had a role to play and your mind is not open to it. Do not pin the blame.   The way you do it, your mind is not open to it. Therefore, do not pin the blame on somebody else, but accept your part in this problem. The second reality of how to handle a crisis, like in the second verse of Daniel, don't offer excuses and say, "I want to kill myself because of this person or that person." Don't offer excuses. But deal with your own sin. Repent of your sin. When I got for confession, before I enter, I always say, "Holy Spirit remind me of my sin." And lo and behold, the entire download happens. You actually want to forget your sinfulness. You do not want to tell the priest everything, but when you say "Spirit of God, reveal to me my sin," immediately, everything begins to fall into your mind, you begin to see the movie, you begin to be reminded of all the moments when you sinned. When you practice that and say, "Spirit of God remind me of my sinfulness," you will see how low you have fallen. Sometimes we tell the Lord, "Lord I am going through this because of that person. Because of that rotter, this is my life." But this morning, we are going to say, "Lord I repent for the wrongdoings of my family members, of my community, of the world. I repent of what is happening." Sometimes when we look at the television and see this person has murdered 10 people or this person has killed so many people, or this has happened, we always find fault. But let's say, "Lord have mercy. Have mercy on him, have mercy on his victims. Have mercy on us." If I never had a renewed mind I would have done the same. I would have fallen into the same pit. Recently I saw the story of a woman who was called out and she was living as a slave in Africa to a certain man and she had a life of prostitution. But as she related her story, she had gone through so much of suffering. Somebody had promised her a job, she was taken and to a place called Togo, and she thought she was going to earn US dollars in a beautiful job, but actually she was taken to join a prostitution ring. And from then on, she was taken to another place, again promised help, taken to another place and again used. And again taken to another country and used as a drug carrier. She says when she went to the customs, she was so broken she told the customs, "I think I'm carrying drugs," she admitted, and she received a seven year sentence. And that was her life. So when she shared her testimony, she was actually weeping, crying and speaking. We often think a prostitute is a terrible person with a horrible life, but that person only knows the pain they are going through, how they got into in, what their story is and we must have mercy as we deal with them. We must have love as we deal with such sinfulness. Not say, "Oh my gosh, my life is so clean, their lives are so bad," but no, have mercy as we look at them. Daniel 9:9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; Like in Nehemiah, what is Daniel doing? He is remembering what God has promised. God has promised that He is merciful and loving. God is great and awesome and then we have sinned against Him, and the third remembrance, God has promised to be merciful, to be loving. You have promised Lord to be merciful because You understand us, You see our weakness, You see how low we have fallen. And You have made us, You have created us, and You are still in love with us, and therefore we have hope. So this morning, as we look at the Lord and as we say He is merciful and loving, we know that we can approach Him. Very often many of us invite people to come for the prayer meeting, and there are a few cases where people say, "How can I come to God? I have been living in sin. I can't come right now because I am dealing with some sin of mine, so I will not come. So many friends who do not want to come for the prayer meeting or to experience God's love because maybe they are holding onto that sin and they feel   they are so unworthy that they will never be able to experience the greatness and goodness of God. But the point is, God is merciful, God is calling us, let's go to Him. Let's experience His favour. We can approach Him, we can go to Him. If you renew your mind with the revelation of scripture, you won't hide from God, you won't waste days and months running through your own thinking patterns. You allow the scripture to form how you handle events, you keep doing this. It's all about renewing your mind, transforming your mind. Now, you can't do it, because certain people believe for example, it's all in the mind. That if they make a decision, it's going to happen. But it's beyond that. So often, if somebody has an argument with you, what happens? Are you able to go to sleep? Are you able to say, "Mind, please shut down now. I want to rest"? We all know, that our minds keep on playing back the argument. "He said this, she said that, this one said this, and then I am going to tell them that, and this is going to happen" and we have this entire conversation going on and we are never able to rest after a fight. Are you able to sleep? No, it becomes difficult. It's the same with me. We cannot control our mind, just like a horse going on a ride. It's just galloping and galloping and talking away and chatting away. But with the grace of God, as we turn to the scripture, that's when the peace of God takes over and we experience the rest of God. This was Daniel's prayer, like Nehemiah, as he accepted the greatness of God, he repented for his sin, and then he approached God and said, "Lord, these are your promises. You are merciful and therefore I am able to approach you." In the gospel, Jesus is talking to us about our internal responses. Here, Daniel is telling God, "You are so great". And Daniel is saying, "Lord forgive us" and all of these things, but in his own life, is he showing the same mercy around him, is he sharing the same love? So you can be saying, "I'm saying Daniel's prayer" or "I am doing the Nehemiah prayer" but what is your internal journey, and what was the internal journey of the Lord Jesus. What did Jesus say? This is what was reflected in the gospel. Luke 6:36-37 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. You can saying Nehemiah's prayer, Daniel's prayer, but internally how have you been dealing with people around you? What is your nature? The transformed nature and attitude of Jesus was this. This is what he tells us. He tells us, "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful." Here you are crying out to God and saying, "Lord, God, King of Kings. Have mercy on me." But have you shown the same mercy to people around you? Lent is a moment when we come back to God, when we retreat from the world and come into the presence of God, and we search our heart to see where we have fallen. And the Lord is telling us, "Be merciful, just as the Father has been merciful." God has been good to you. Do you think, if you are person who is praying, if you are a person reading the scripture, that it is by your own merit? Because you spend time in prayer, because you did that? Imagine if dryness comes over you, where does your journey go? You'll have nothing to say. So God in His mercy has given you an experience of His love, He has drawn you with cords of love, as the word of God tells us. He has touched your heart, He has renewed you, He has given you the grace to pray and spend time with Him, it is nothing about you. It is His love for you. It is the spirit that has descended upon you and drawn you into a relationship with Him. And therefore, that has been the mercy of God. We cannot point our finger and say, "I spend time in prayer, see these people   they don't pray." The gift of prayer that you have is from God. God has blessed you with that gift. God has been good to you. Be merciful, just as the heavenly Father has been merciful to you. Then it says something really extreme: "Do not condemn and you will not be condemned." Imagine, what is condemnation? It's almost saying, "Go and die. Go and be killed. I do not want to see you again." It's an extreme form of talking, or thinking. Condemning a person. You condemn a person to what? To a beach resort? No, you condemn a person to the gallows. I person has to be hanged over there. So often, we are in the journey, experiencing the love of God, and yet we are condemning people. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. The seriousness of our actions, the way we speak, the way we journey with God, living in the life of God, experiencing His love, and condemning people. We say "go to hell" and when we condemn that person we are condemning ourselves. That's why it says, when we stand before God, and He reviews our life, our own sin will speak to us, will condemn us. It's not God saying, "You have sinned! Son you have come here but your life is a mess." As we look at the goodness of God, we see the poverty of our spirit. We see how far we have fallen. As we see His purity we see our impurity. Like St. Peter said "My Lord and my God." He knelt before him, because as he saw the magnanimity, the greatness of God, he saw his littleness. This is the experience of spirituality. Not, "I am this, I am that, I have done this, I have achieved this." As we go closer to God, we see how great He is and how small we are. As we experience His purity, we see how impure we can be. This should be our experience, and therefore He is calling us to live a life of showing mercy. When you go to the carpark of a supermarket, somebody comes and says, "Sir, buy this thing", and you can condemn the person and say, "Oh, these people are all cheats." Or we can just have mercy, "Lord, you have fed me, clothed me, You have given me a meal, in Your mercy I will just share. I will not condemn." This is what God is calling us to do, to show mercy and not to condemn. Thirdly, he says, "forgive and you will be forgiven." The lack of forgiveness is like a bondage. You are held with your arms in shackles. And when you do not forgive, you will not be forgiven. That's crystal clear. If you you cannot forgive, you will not be forgiven. It's reciprocal. If you do not take the chance to forgive a person, release the person, you are not being released. Therefore, you're telling God, "I'm all doing all these prayers, I'm doing the Four Steps, I'm doing Nehemiah's prayer, I'm praying all of this nothing is happening. My prayers are not being answered." God is saying, "Look into your life." This is the time of lent, look into your life. The more you begin to forgive, the more you are being forgiven. You are holding yourself at ransom, you are holding yourself in bondage, you are holding yourself with hands tied and saying, "Lord, why? Why is this happening?" This morning, as you are forgiving, as you are offering forgiveness, you are being forgiven. Now we come to the most important verse in this, which a lot of people love. It says: "Give, and it will be given to you." All of us think in terms of money, "Oh if I give this, I am going to get that" and we get so excited. But God is not just talking about giving money, he's talking about giving mercy. He already set the tone, giving forgiveness. He's talking about giving glory to God, giving all of that. And as you give that to God, as you give your pain to Him he begins to release you, He begins to bless you. Luke 6:38 Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. It's just telling us the nature of a person surrendered to God. If something has to be poured into your lap, it means you are not running after something. Like you're given something and you're waiting for it to   come. But you're searching everywhere. If you are searching everywhere it cannot be poured into your lap. It means you are seated, you are sitting somewhere and it is being poured over you, or into your lap. If you're running everywhere looking for the answer, it's falling off you, you're losing this opportunity. You're giving and then you are waiting. And you're not looking for answers, you're not searching, you're giving repentance, you're releasing people. And God is giving back to you. The grace of God is being poured into your life and you are experiencing His power and mercy. Luke 6:38 Give and you will be given a good measure, pressed over full and running over. For the measure you give, will be the measure you receive back. There's one little verse in Philippians which talks about this mentality that God is calling us to have today. This is the spirituality we are called to. Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always I will say it again rejoice. That's why we began this time of prayer with a song of praise, because first of all God is asking us to come and rejoice. Philippians 4:5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. We can react, we can angry, we can blame, but let your gentleness be evident, the Lord is near, the Lord is with us, the Lord is for us. Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. We've heard Thaththa preaching about this before. It's a teaching by itself. But, it's just telling us about our mind. "Do not be anxious but in prayer and petition, with Thanksgiving, present them to God." Give them to God, give Him all you're going through. Like Nehemiah and Daniel. And what is the result of this? Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God which transcends all understanding... Your way of thinking, your way of working out things is on this level. And the peace of God, is above it all, which transcends all understanding: Philippians 4:7 will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. This morning we spoke about having a renewed mind and heart in Christ Jesus. We saw the example of Daniel and Nehemiah, as they lived, as they faced different experiences, and as they saw the power of God in their life situations, they were able to achieve and do things. And then we saw, in the gospel, what   was Jesus' internal nature, his nature was, "Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do." He was a person who showed mercy, who showed love, who did not condemn. The nature of Jesus was to show mercy, to show love, not condemn. Give his life, not just give money. And this is our call today. If we want to have a renewed mind, if we want to have the peace that passes all understanding, God is calling us to come into His presence to look at His greatness, to repent of our sin, and to experience the power of His glory.

Jeff Thompson chats with Kristin Smedley, Chief Communications Officer, Brian Edwards, chief  operating Officer, and founder and Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Lubiner With long term plans to develop the highly technical touch pad pro, the team is first focusing on the loess technical, but equally as important Braille Doodle. As Daniel comments, "it would be great to offer a device at or around $65.. which we could not only buy for one student, but for all students.” The Braille Doodle should be about the size of a laptop computer, with hundreds of holes, housing magnetic dots that can be raised using a magnetic stylus to draw pictures, shapes, or other tactile images, or which can be covered with a plastic sleeve to reveal only  braille cells which will facilitate teaching young students or others who might not be able to enjoy Face-to-face braille instruction from a TVI, or parent.  Witnessing a unique interest among the blindness community and with a building passion for what they are creating, the team is targeting release of the Braille Doodle in September of 2021. At this point, they are trying to raise awareness of this innovative product and funding to produce it. In today’s episode, our guests are Daniel Moscowitz and Elliot Bayev. Daniel is in sales and has been able to create a business privately, and held $30 million in sales and B2B sales. He has grown an eight-figure privately held company. Elliot is an individual that has 30 plus years of experience in martial arts. He is a second-degree black belt in jiu- jitsu. Today, we’re going to break down the concept they’ve come up with. [8:22] How did Daniel and Elliot come together? I run a program for entrepreneurs called mastermind BJJ. That's a private training group just for entrepreneurs. Someone invited Daniel and throughout his first class, every once in a while, his eyes would just light up. As we went to brunch, he would share that so much of what I was sharing was so aligned with his sales philosophy and what he teaches. As we kept talking, it just kind of unfolded that there was this amazing overlap, and anyone who does that, who knows that, applies to other areas of life. [10:32] Off shift moment For me, it was taking an element of actual training and bringing it into my sales. That was a shift for me. [12:24] We mapped out the system that the whole structure is based on a four-step process designed to help you win jujitsu competitions. There's a synergy that I didn't expect. [13:37] Part of the book that will help people You could sell to somebody and have an engagement of sales that actually leaves them better off than when you found them. There is this mud that is thrown on salespeople oftentimes. People use sales to sell to people stuff they don’t need [14:42] Jiu-Jitsu is all about not hurting people You can choose to hurt somebody if you need to, but you can win without ever hurting somebody. That’s what really attracted me to it. When you go through the whole book as a whole system, it's really designed around increasing your conversion rates without ever doing in a slimy or sleazy and really not being able to hurt anybody while doing it. [16:57] Is the book for everybody? Whether you're a solopreneur, you have a small sales team or a large sales team. This book is going to show you what steps to take to close people. It's designed as a system of a cursive system that plays upon itself. [18:54] The reason to start a school in the first place was to position myself so I can make this difference. It’s been wonderful to kind of meet Daniel who's very strong on the practical side and this book definitely wouldn't have come together without him. [19:56] What was the thing that led you to trust to attach your name to a product together? We took some time, it was a slow conversation and I think there are always reasons to not do something. There's always the fear, but I think what matters most is the aspiration and this vision. I saw his passion for sales as a way to help people. I feel the same way about jujitsu and about getting these messages out into the world. Taking your time getting to know someone and really understanding their philosophy and their goals is the key. As Daniel said, the editing of this book was over a year. Even prior to that, it was many conversations that led us to even start dictating the book and through knowing a few mutual people, there's a sense of trust that was built. [23:04] Can anybody be a salesman? I've never met an introvert that's a good salesperson. I think you need to have a love of people. And you need to want to be a really good listener and the other stuff you can learn. [26:13] Envisioning the impact of the book on people We know right away that if business owners, directors, sales managers take this and implement it with their teams, they're going to immediately see increases, 10 to 20% on their closing rates with their existing traffic. Key Quotes: [13:35-13:37] “You can sell to people without ever hurting them.”

End OF Days episode on my story https://youtu.be/wb_3H-vqrZA Alberto Daniel Hill is a writer, hacker, and cryptocurrency expert who is involved in some serious cryptocurrency projects. He is here today to discuss his imprisonment and the media manipulation surrounding the event. Daniel starts off by riffing a bit with Alberto. We learn a little bit about his spirit, philosophy and his approach. They talk back and forth a bit about things like Daniels favorite show Mr. Robot. Then Alberto begins his story. A story that includes some very foolish behavior by government and media who seemed to know very little about Cyber-Security. Alberto was working as a security consultant in the past and was basically bullied into a false confession by police that were using his closest loved ones as leverage. Alberto not only never committed the crime but was actually trying to help in the first place. The evidence was never presented but Alberto was still imprisoned. As Daniel listens to the story a picture begins to form in his head. Combined with the fact that information online about Alberto is disappearing, Daniel connects the dots and blurts out what Alberto already knew, that there are some powerful people involved in possibly framing Alberto! They talk a bit about hacking, the future of Cryptocurrency and what we can all do to help ensure a better tomorrow. http://albertohill.com/ Alberto (nofear) from Uruguay podcast@hack24.xyz Leave me voice messages that I can use for the podcast! https://anchor.fm/psicohacker/messages PODCAST WEBSITE: https://hack24.xyz https://albertohill.com @ADanielHill DARKNETDIARIES PODCAST https://darknetdiaries.com/episode/25/ OPERACIÓN BITCOINS: Login to HELL (English and Spanish Editions) http://amazon.albertohill.com OSINTME.COM https://www.osintme.com/index.php/tag/alberto-hill/ Admin Admin, Part 1: From responsible disclosure to a prison cell Admin Admin, Part 2: The case against Alberto Admin Admin, Part 3: The aftermath of Operation Bitcoins OPERACIÓN BITCOINS: DEL INFIERNO A LA RESURRECCIÓN (Spanish) https://steemit.com/albertodanielhill/@arepadigital/operacinbitcoinsdelinfiernoalaresurreccin-2zw5z9zlpq MYHACKERTECH.COM https://myhackertech.com/blogs/news/the-wrong-cuckoo-s-egg-an-interview-with-uruguay-s-first-jailed-hacker-alberto-hill MY TALK DURING THE CHAOS RC3 CONFERENCE (DECEMBER 2020) https://media.ccc.de/v/rc3-625023-login_to_hell MOONBOOKS PUBLISHING https://moonbooks.net/authors/alberto-daniel-hill/ DIGITAL FORENSICS MAGAZINE ISSUE 38 http://digitalforensicsmagazine.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1277&Itemid=99 DIGITAL FORENSICS MAGAZINE ISSUE 39 http://www.digitalforensicsmagazine.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1293 35C3 ALBERTO'S STORY OF HACKING, LOVE, NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE AND PRISON https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBtynT_dhJc YOUTUBE VIDEOS ABOUT THE CASE https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJxLpOe53KjJwlpRdTDz08g?view_as=subscriber LA HISTORIA DEL PRIMER HACKER PROCESADO CON PRISIÓN EN URUGUAY (Spanish) https://soundcloud.com/radio-carve/la-historia-del-primer-hacker-procesado-con-prision-en-uruguay?in=alberto-daniel-hill/sets/operacion-bitcoins ALL THE AUDIO FILES WITH THE INTERVIEWS FOR THE RADIO CAN BE FOUND HERE: https://soundcloud.com/alberto-daniel-hill ALBERTO DANIEL HILL https://albertohill.com/ https://twitter.com/ADanielHill https://www.linkedin.com/in/nofear75/ https://imdb.com/name/nm11317072 https://www.instagram.com/whois.albertohill/ http://amazon.albertohill.com --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/darkwebtoday/message

Kicking-off 2021, your Talking Pest Management host, Daniel Schröer, welcomes all listeners and wishes each and every one a happy new year. There is something of a change, as Daniel has no industry guest to interview....only a personal and heartfelt message. “The industry is my hobby and my passion. It means a lot to me that you let me be your host and that you like what I do. Thank you for all the support and positive comments you have sent me over the past year.” Daniel congratulates the industry as a whole for the way it has responded to the events of 2020 – a roller coaster year when business was turned upside down. The industry has proved itself to be a critical service and should rightly be proud of all its activities. He says: “When I retire I want to say I have done something good for our industry.” Reflecting on the activities of Talking Pest Management (TPM), Daniel explains how it began – to help fill that gap created when personal conversations and interactions were lost with the cancellation of all events and conferences. Over the months there have been thousands of TPM viewers, listeners or readers, ranging from technicians wanting to learn more about their industry, to research staff hearing about new developments, to company owners and CEOs keeping in touch with commercial activities. Thank you for your commitment and feedback. For the future, TPM interviews will be released every two, three or even every four weeks. It is quality rather than quantity that is important. The aim is to encourage people to ‘think outside the box’. What will our industry be like in 10 or 20 years time? Suggestions of topics and interviewees are always welcomed. Send these to Daniel. As Daniel says: “At the end of the day, we do this for you.” Subscribe on the latest insights on the pest management industry. Readings 2 Samuel 7:1–5, 8–11, 16 Psalm 89:2–5, 27, 29 Romans 16:25–27 Luke 1:26–38 What is announced to Mary in today’s Gospel is the revelation of all that the prophets had spoken. It is, as Paul declares in today’s Epistle, the mystery kept secret since before the foundation of the world (see Ephesians 1:9; 3:3–9). Mary is the virgin prophesied to bear a son of the house of David (see Isaiah 7:13–14). And nearly every word the angel speaks to her today evokes and echoes the long history of salvation recorded in the Bible. Mary is hailed as the “daughter Jerusalem,” called to rejoice that her king, the Lord God, has come into her midst as a mighty savior (see Zephaniah 3:14–17). The One whom Mary is to bear will be Son of “the Most High”—an ancient divine title first used to describe the God of the priest-king Melchizedek, who brought out bread and wine to bless Abraham at the dawn of salvation history (see Genesis 14:18–19). He will fulfill the covenant God makes with His chosen one, David, in today’s First Reading. As we sing in today’s Psalm, He will reign forever as highest of the kings of the earth, and He will call God “my Father.” As Daniel saw the Most High grant everlasting dominion to the Son of Man (see Daniel 4:14; 7:14), His kingdom will have no end. He is to rule over the house of Jacob—the title God used in making His covenant with Israel at Sinai (see Exodus 19:3), and again used in promising that all nations would worship the God of Jacob (see Isaiah 2:1–5). Jesus has been made known, Paul says today, to bring all nations to the obedience of faith. We are called with Mary today to marvel at all that the Lord has done throughout the ages for our salvation. And we too must respond to this annunciation with humble obedience—that His will be done, that our lives be lived according to His word.

In Episode 19 of the Legal Tech StartUp Focus Podcast (www.legaltechstartupfocus.com/podcast), your podcast host, Charlie Uniman, interviews Daniel Porus, Chief Commercial Officer of Legatics (www.legatics.com), a legal tech startup that offers transaction management solutions. Daniel starts off by telling our listeners how he moved from practicing law with firms in New Zealand and Australia, to obtaining a business degree from Cambridge's Judge Business School to meeting with Legatics' founder and deciding, after that meeting, to eschew plans to work in "big tech" and instead join the Legatics team. Charlie and Daniel cover the Legatics product's features and benefits. Those benefits include (1) automating routine aspects of deal-doing, (2) reducing the risk of human error by, among other things, providing a "single source of truth" for the deal, (3) promoting junior lawyer retention at law firms by making the handling of deal work less mind-numbing, (4) accelerating time-to-closing of the deal and (5) with its multi-sided platform feature, enhancing client satisfaction by providing law firm clients with transparency into a deal's progress and with collaboration tools that permit client involvement with aspects of the deal. Daniel also describes how the client involvement/transparency benefits have generated positive marketing spillover effects as clients, having become familiar with Legatics while working on a deal with a law firm that's a Legatics' customer, call for its adoption and use by other of the client's law firms. Daniel explains Legatics' deep commitment to encouraging what it calls "practical adoption" of its product by its law firm customers. By practical adoption, Legatics means avoiding the dreaded "shelf ware" problems, where legal tech software sits unused, "on the shelf," despite a law firm customer's licensing the software in question. As Daniel describes it, Legatics exemplifies its devotion to customer engagement and adoption by creating two teams that take aim at those goals. One such team, the one that focuses on customer success, reacts quickly to customer feedback and provides customer support. The other such team, the one that focuses on customer engagement, takes a more holistic approach to Legatics/customer interactions by helping a customer measure its ROI from Legatics' use, by insuring that potential users of the Legatics' offering are aware of its benefits (including its integrations with other law firm software), by providing plans to its customers for rolling out the software to adoptees and by describing clearly just what "success actually looks like" to current and potential users. Daniel offers one more example of Legatics' commitment to customer "practical adoption." As Daniel relates, Legatics has gone so far as to engage with academics in the field of behavioral science. Legatics has undertaken this engagement in order to, among other things, apply principles from behavioral science in workshops that Legatics conducts with several law firms to drive change-management successes at those firms.

God Is Sovereign; He Gives Government Offices “to whom he will”, Even if They Are “the lowliest of men” THIS DEVOTIONAL INTENTIALLY DUPLICATED FROM 10/4/20   MESSAGE SUMMARY: Political discord and uncertainty surround us in all directions today. Without Jesus in our lives, we have reasons to be anxious and fearful. However, Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:31: “Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.”. The next years may hurt our pride, wallets, and/or our freedom. On the other hand, we should not let the current political environment hinder our resolve to continue in our fearless faith in the truth; our constant hope in the future; and our radical love for our neighbors. As Daniel interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel 4:17 when God told Nebuchadnezzar: “to the end that the living may know that the Most High {God} rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will and sets over it the lowliest of men.”. God told King Nebuchadnezzar and us, too, that He {God} is always involved in our lives and government and that He gives the government offices “to whom he will”, even if the political processes produce “the lowliest of men {or women}”. Sometimes, we receive the elected officials we need, and sometimes we receive the elected officials that we deserve; but God is always Sovereign.   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Anger. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Forgiveness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. Peter describes how the suffering of Christ was prophesied by His Spirit in olden times, though the prophets could not understand it all.----Daniel was a highly regarded prophet whom God had greatly touched, and given great wisdom and insight.----As Daniel studied Jeremiah's writings, he realized that Israel was judged by God in the exile in Babylon, and in Daniel 9, his prayer of repentance and plea for God's mercy to an undeserving people is set forth.----God's response was to send the angel Gabriel to reveal the -70 weeks- prophecy, that described the coming of Messiah the prince.----At the start of that revelation, the promise was that the events of the 70 week prophetic timeline were for the purpose of finishing the transgression, bringing an end of sins, making reconciliation for iniquity, and bringing in everlasting righteousness, with the anointing of Messiah.----Such was more than Daniel could have asked for- The promise of the redemption of God's people is breath taking-----As the 70 weeks are outlined, Jerusalem is rebuilt, and near the end, Messiah the Prince comes- What a glorious answer to Daniel's prayer-----But then, Messiah is cut off, without a kingdom or earthly glory. Just as the prophetic promise appeared to provide the rescue of Israel and the reconciliation between God and sinners, Messiah is to be cut off entirely.----On top of that, the implication is that Israel will have a hand in killing Messiah, and then Israel is cut off - Jerusalem destroyed, the temple overthrown.----How miserable Daniel might have felt, but did he understand, that it was the cutting off of Messiah that reconciled sinners to God, and brought in an everlasting righteousness-

Daniel is originally from Venezuela and lived a long time in the United States and has now been living in Costa Rica for about 20 years. He primarily worked in several sectors, such as real estate and biofuels as well as the Costa Rica News. He obtained the Award of the Top 25 Global Energy Entrepreneur selected by SHELL OIL and ran a successful real estate company promoting Costa Rica as a destination to buy real estate along a team of 100 people conducting calls and promoting this country. In 2008, Daniel decided to make a cut in his life and started Resonance, which was inspired by his desire to create a space for those already awakened or on the path and looking to integrate that awakening, as well as to those on the precipice of a new perception of the world. Resonance is located on the Pacific Coast close to Los Pargos at Playa Lagarto and is a co-living ad co-working space with several boungalows, swimming pools and various activities to get closer to nature and to find innerpeace. As Daniel well describes, Resonance is a place which welcomes everyone who is seeking to find innerpeace and to search for it from within. The way to become part of the resonance movemet can be multifold and there are a lot of options to either be a guest or to collaborate via work exchange or to become part of the community: from spending days or weeks on a retreat, to contribute, or to invest and become a partner. It was a very insightful and inspirational episode where Daniel talks not only about enlightment and the relationship to nature, food, and the mind but also gives very precious insights about epigenetics (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epigenetics) and dimethyltryptamine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N,N-Dimethyltryptamine). As Daniel struggles to help his dad, he encounters storybook characters such as the tornado-roping Pecos Bill (played by Patrick Swayze) and hammer-wielding John Henry (played by Roger Aaron Brown), as well as gun-toting Calamity Jane (played by Catherine O'Hara) and ax-hauling Paul Bunyan (played Oliver Platt) with his loyal blue ox, Babe. So, join us as we spin some tall tales of our own, and take you... deep in the plus! Disney's Tall Tale Tall Tales, in general, are a fundamental element of American folk literature. It's our version of mythology, and are based in our own history. These characters were likely based on real people, but as the stories were passed from one to another, they became exaggerated and then... legendary! Disney did an amazing job weaving some of the biggest heroes of the genre into an entertaining and cohesive film. This movie is most definitely a forgotten gem in Disney history. It was basically a box office failure and didn't receive great reviews when it came out, so it's very likely you missed this one the first time around. With a good story and an incredible cast, Tall Tale is part western, part action, part family and ALL Disney! But let us know what YOU think! Learn how a real estate investor sees growth by bringing back a formerly popular espresso coffee cafe to be a neighborhood destination for fresh coffee and freshly prepared food, combined with great customer service. Daniel Mariotti started in real estate but saw an opportunity to expand his business opportunities by taking over a well-established coffee café that had been in decline due to the owner having moved out of the area and not able to manage the café. With the improvements, he has seen tremulous growth by improving customer service, the product and the décor while rebuilding a loyal customer base. Joins us and listen to his story of entrepreneurship. He moved to Wichita from Southern California and his family started out on seven acres of land, raising animals and a garden much like the TV show Green Acres. He attended college and took a corporate job on the east coast before realizing he wanted an different opportunity for his family and returned to Wichita to work with in real estate, partnering with his father. He attended college at College of the Ozarks, as known as Hard Work U. The entire campus is run by the students, all working about 15 hours a week and resulted in no student debt but also a work ethic. As Daniel said “It instills the responsible of having to balancing life, work and school”. He grew up with a family of entrepreneurs, so this is something he has always wanted to do and it comes from hard work, honesty and integrity. He got established in the real estate business partnering with his father, buying distressed properties and estate properties, fixing them up and retaining about one in ten as rentals, reselling the rest. What has changed in Wichita is a more positive business environment than a few years ago. But with the availability of cheap money and investor interest the real estate market may have peaked. With the Wichita real estate market, price swings does not occur as much compared to other markets. As a regular customer, Daniel saw that the II Primo Expresso Café had been in decline and saw an opportunity to take over and refresh the product line, the café and improve customer service. What he did was bring the business back with better customer service, improved décor and better food options. He also recently opened a coffee and café in a downtown office building. And the customers at the office building have really responded. That response have been built around preparing everything fresh every time, something the people in the building has really appreciated. II Primo is just one part of a growing coffee scene in the Wichita area all built around what each neighborhood seems to want. Everyday there are plenty of opportunities for us to exercise our faith and give ourselves a chance to watch results make themselves. As Daniel chose to eat vegetables and drink water, we can make the decision to implement better life choices.

We welcome Daniel Wagner back to the show, this time to discuss his latest and insightful book The America-China Divide: The Race to Control the World. The book is an important follow-on to China Vision, which was published last year and on which he joined the podcast. The America-China Divide describes how China has benefited from the US-led international system, the complexity of the US-China relationship and where this is all going. Daniel describes a vision for the future that we all need to understand, discuss and shape. This is China's Century. But what do we do about that? As Daniel puts it, we need to "wake up" and craft our own vision for co-existence with that reality. The book has received a number of very positive reviews from renowned China scholars and policy-makers. And if you are a listener of All Things Risk, you will know that Daniel has a wonderful knack for explaining complex geopolitical phenomena in a way that is clear and understandable.  Show notes: The America-China Divide: The Race to Control the World in Amazon and in Amazon's UK site  Daniel on Twitter: https://twitter.com/countryriskmgmt Daniel's company, Country Risk Solutions: http://countryrisksolutions.com/ Daniel's other recent books: China Vision on Amazon's US site China Vision on Amazon's UK site AI Supremacy Virtual Terror Ep. 91 with Daniel and Keith Furst, Ep 119 Ep 102 Ep 98  Ep 69,  Ep 57, Ep 17 and Ep 10 with Daniel Wagner

Daniel Ramsey is the founder and CEO of MyOutDesk, the highest rated Virtual Assistant company in the marketplace with over hundreds of 5-star reviews and over 10 years of experience, serving more than 5000 clients – including over half of the RealTrends Top 10 teams. Daniel is a long-time licensed real estate broker, mortgage broker, and general contractor who has sold hundreds of homes and made millions in commissions, and built real estate’s #1 staffing company. Back in 2008, he was inspired by his own time-management struggles to find a better way to help agents leverage their time and energy, and created MyOutDesk to provide a trusted, reliable solution to the office administration, marketing and prospecting tasks. In twelve years with MyOutDesk, Daniel has helped thousands of clients scale their businesses and grow profitability. He has worked with some of the top clients in the industry – from sales organizations like the Mark Spain Team and Ben Kinney to tech providers like the Zillow Group, Keller Williams, and RE/MAX. Daniel has 2 lovely daughters and a wonderful wife and is passionate about extending the movement beyond revenue, making an actual difference in many people’s lives. He has made this dream a reality through the incorporation of the “MOD Movement”, 501(c)3 charity that has participated in building orphanages and senior housing in the Philippines as well as life-planning programs for at-risk youth in the United States. In today’s conversation with us, Daniel explains their charity impact model, what they track, and how they involve their employees and clients so that everyone wins. We also discuss key business principles and how to know when you’re ready to hire a full-time team of virtual professionals to scale your growth. As Daniel points out, the biggest challenge in business is always people – finding more people, better talent, and learning how to lead them better. Daniel and his team at MyOutDesk will show you how to solve this challenge so you can scale your business and your impact, just as they have done. Key Takeaways Most charities don’t have a concrete way to measure impact. The MyOutDesk charity impact model measures time invested, dollars raised, and lives impacted. Find ways to involve your clients into your charity model. Annual budgeting helps to control revenue and how much is used for charity. On your organizational chart, include the position (job title and desired outcome), the person’s name, and all the systems that they’re running. Also categorize if it is operations or sales and marketing. Sales and marketing is what drives all revenue growth; it’s how a company gets to scale. If you find yourself working evenings and weekends, not able to walk away from your phone, or your revenue hasn’t grown in 3 years, it’s time to hire a team of virtual professionals. $250,000 - $500,000 in revenue is usually when you can shift from an “I do it” to “We do it” model, where you hire a full-time team of virtual assistants. If you’re under $200,000 in revenue you can utilize project-based virtual assistants. If you’re in business, your people are always your biggest challenge – finding more people, better talent, and leading them better. When you have the right team you win Superbowls. Do you remember where you were on 9/11? An overwhelming sense of uncertainty and fear dominated our country that day and for many more after. Church attendance spiked as people searched for a way to cope. In seasons of instability, our hearts long for a sovereign source of stability. We want answers, leadership, and clear direction. When the world is in turmoil, even those who don’t pick up a Bible on a regular basis are much more likely to listen to Scripture and pray. As Daniel gains insight about the future of the nations around him, he is reminded that with difficult times comes an opportunity to share the reason for our hope. In Daniel 11, the heavenly being tells Daniel that those who are wise will take the opportunity to instruct many. Hundreds of years later, the apostle Peter shares a similar message with early Christians, writing, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect...” (1 Peter 3:15). The reality is not everyone will want to hear what we have to say (Daniel 11:33). In those situations, it’s important to remember that God uses times of difficulty to refine and purify us as well (Daniel 11:35). Sometimes, refinement comes through receiving an uncomfortable or unpopular correction. Sometimes, refinement comes as we persevere in faith despite persecution. No matter how great the opposition we face, we take heart in knowing that if we will stay faithful to God, He promises to deliver us and to bring glory to His name.

So Daniel would have come to Babylon only 8 years earlier. Daniel is a wonderful example of what God can do with someone completely surrendered to the Lord. Note Daniel’s devotional habits and how he and his friends completely trusted in God. The book has two clear sections. The first narrates history, and contains the famous stories we all love. The second is prophecy and revelation. Again, like Ezekiel, much of Daniel reappears in the book of Revelation. And as for the question if Daniel was a real prophet, note that Jesus thought he was! November 3, 2019 Tonight we are going to be looking at the final book in our post-exile period that we have been studying. We have looked at Haggai, Ezra, Nehemiah, Malachi, and Zechariah. These books have shown us how God's people respond to their return from captivity. Cyrus issues a decree that the people are allowed to return to Jerusalem and build a temple for God. They start zealously building the temple for the Lord under Zerubbabel and Jeshua. Then everything falls apart as they face opposition. God eventually sends in his prophets Haggai and Zechariah to encourage the people and complete the temple during the reign of Darius. After the completion of the temple and after the rule of Darius, we find the book of Esther. So Ezra, Nehemiah, and Malachi were all taking place sometime after the book we will study tonight. I want to start by considering this. All of the events that take place in this book of Esther make it possible for Ezra and Nehemiah to accomplish the great work that they did. Esther, at least on some level, fulfills the promises of blessings given by Haggai and Zechariah. This is a book that does not need a roadmap. Let's understand the story and talk about what it means. The Story 1 - Feast of Masculinity Our story begins in the city of Susa, the capital of the Medo-Persian empire. King Ahasuerus, also known as Xerxes, has been on the throne for three years. History tells us that he has squashed the opposition of Egypt and Babylon against him after the death of his father, Darius. Now he holds a feast with his officials and servants that will last for six months. When this feasting was over, seven days were given for all the people of Susa to feast and rejoice. This party contained all of the alcohol anyone could want. While the men were feasting, the women were also feasting under the leadership of queen Vashti. But on the seventh day of the feast, the king wanted the queen to come before him. He wanted to let all of his officials behold her beauty. She refused to show the drunk men her splendor. Consequently, she was removed from being queen, and an edict went out to all the families in the kingdom, saying, "All women will give honor to their husbands, high and low alike." 2:1-18 - Esther Selected As Queen After this decree goes out, king Xerxes goes out to fight against the Greeks. He fails to conquer the Greeks, and when he returns, he seeks a distraction. His attendants recommended that he find a new queen from all the virgins of the land. This is where our story finally introduces the two main characters. Mordecai, a descendant of the same house as Saul, is bringing up his orphaned cousin, Esther. Esther was a beautiful young virgin who is taken to try out as queen. She finds favor among everyone, and eventually, her time to go before the king comes. She uses great discretion and wisdom by not revealing her Jewish heritage (Many hated the Jews) and by doing everything just as the head eunuch had recommended. The king appreciated her submission and obedience, and she was selected to be the queen of Persia. 2:19-23 - Mordecai Saves the King After Esther was chosen, the virgins were all gathered together. The news of Esther's selection seems to provoke some of the king's eunuchs so that they wanted to kill the king. Mordecai heard of their plot and told Esther, who also told king Ahasuerus. The king investigated it and had the two men killed for conspiring to kill the king. 3 - Haman, The Enemy of the Jews In Chapter 3, for some reason, a man named Haman was promoted to be the top official. King Ahasuerus has commanded that all the people must bow to Haman, but Mordecai refuses to bow. So Haman seeks to kill all of the Jews. Why would Mordecai refuse to bow? This is not about worshipping a foreign god. Mordecai, Daniel, and every other Jew would bow before the king. But Mordecai refuses to bow before Haman. The reason if found in Haman's description. He was an Agagite. Our study of 1 Samuel on Wednesday nights, makes the name Agag familiar to us. Agag was a king of the Amalekites, an ancient enemy of Israel. Saul was supposed to kill off all of the Amalekites and devote everything they had to destruction, but he failed and Amalekites remained. So we have a descendant of Saul and a descendant of Agag in our story. Is it any surprise that they don't like each other? Haman approaches the king and tells the king about people who are different. The people refuse to keep the king's laws, and Haman wants to wipe them out. The king gives him his signet ring (which lets him make any rule he wants to make as though he were king). But before he approaches the king, he seeks advice by casting lots (die used to determine the will of the gods) to decide which day the Jews should be killed. The lots reveal that Haman should have the Jews eliminated nearly a year later. So Haman makes the decree that all the Jews are to be killed on March 7th of the following year. 4 - Mordecai Exhorts Esther To Act When Mordecai learns about all of this, he mourns and puts on sackcloth. He finds a way to communicate with Esther, and he reveals all that has happened. Then, Mordecai commands her to approach the king and intercede on behalf of the people. Esther resists saying, "All the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces know that if any man or woman goes to the king inside the inner court without being called, there is but one law - to be put to death, except the one to whom the king holds out the golden scepter so that he may live. But as for me, I have not been called to come into the king these thirty days." It seems as though Esther wanted to wait until she was called before the king to present this information. Going into the throne room of the king could be suicide. Mordecai tells Esther that she better not trust in the security that she thinks she possesses. She and her family will not escape from this mass murder of the Jews. Mordecai then says something that shows his tremendous faith in God. He says, "If you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this." Mordecai sees God working in this secular society. He believes that, whether Esther stands up and tries to intercede for these people or not, the Jews will be saved from this destruction because God is faithful. Can you imagine this? Here is a Jew in Susa, about one hundred years after Jerusalem has fallen, believe that God is working to restore his people in this horrible news. The nations have raged against the Lord's people, and Mordecai knows that God is able and willing to deliver his people. But God's name is not mentioned once. There is an unspoken understanding of who is going to bring about this great deliverance through Esther or by some other means. 5:1-8 - Esther Enters the Throne Room The story reaches a climax as Esther enters the throne room. Will she be put to death? Will she provide salvation for her people that is so needed? No, neither of these things happen. She is given the king's golden scepter so that she will not be put to death, and when asked what her request would be, she asks the king to go to a banquet with her. She also invites Haman. They go to the banquet together. We expect Esther to reveal this to the king at the banquet, but instead, she asks them to join her for another banquet the following night. There she will make known her request to the king. 5:9-14 - Haman's Joy is Almost Complete At this point, we think that Haman will never be killed. Why is Esther waiting so long? That night Haman goes home rejoicing and bragging to all of his friends and family. He thinks that he is the most loved man in the kingdom because queen Esther has invited him to her banquet two nights in a row. But he is not totally satisfied because Mordecai is still at the king's gate, looking at him. His wife and his friends tell him to go ahead and put Mordecai to death. Have a pole stood up 75 feet in the air and impale him on it. 6 - The Rise of Mordecai It is at this point that everything takes a drastic turn. The king could not sleep, so he has the record of how he was saved from the assassination attempt read to him. There he finds out that Mordecai saved his life, and nothing was done for him. So he finds Haman coming to ask him about impaling Mordecai, and he asks him a question, "What should be done to the man whom the king delights to honor?" Haman thinks that the king is speaking of him, so he recommends parading the man through the streets of Susa in one of the king's robes, riding the king's horse, and wearing the king's crown. He even says that a great official of the king should go before him proclaiming, "Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor." The king loves the idea! He tells Haman to go and do all of this for Mordecai, and he does. Afterward, his family tells Haman that he is in big trouble. He should not have messed with the Jews. About that time, the king's eunuchs come and bring Haman to the banquet of Queen Esther. 7 - The Death of Haman Esther finally asks the king to spare her life and the life of her people from the enemies who are seeking to kill them. To this, the king asks who is seeking to kill his queen. She says, "A foe and enemy! This wicked Haman!" Then, Haman was terrified before the king and queen. He begs Esther to save his life, the king sees it as molesting the queen, and he finds out that Haman was planning to impale Mordecai who had saved his life. So, Haman was impaled on the pole he had set up for Mordecai. 8 - Esther and Mordecai Save the Jews This seems like a happy ending. Haman is dead. Mordecai receives great honor. He is placed in Haman's position and given Haman's estate. The king even gives him the signet ring. But the Jews are still going to be killed in about nine months unless something is done to stop it. So Esther again enters the throne room of the king and begs him to revoke the letters that were previously sent out by Haman under the king's authority. The king can't do it. It is a law of the Medes and Persians, and it cannot be revoked. However, the king allows Mordecai to make a decree, as well. Mordecai creates a decree that allows the Jews to defend themselves against their enemies on the same day that they are supposed to be attacked. This decree went out all over the kingdom. The Jews were then rejoicing, and many of the people decided to become Jews because they were afraid of what had happened. They sensed that there was something extraordinary going on. 9:1-19 - The Jews Succeed In Chapter 9, we see that many of those who were hoping to kill the Jews were killed themselves. All of the Jews were joined by officials, satraps, and governors who helped them kill their enemies because they were afraid of the newly appointed second in command, Mordecai. The Jews had tremendous success against their enemies. But one fact is repeated three times, which goes back to Saul's disobedience. Esther 9:10, 15, and 16 reveal to us that they laid no hand on the plunder. They killed over 75,000 people and didn't touch the plunder. Remember how Saul allowed the people to pounce on the plunder? They refused to do it. Why? Because they saw this as the ultimate deliverance from God. Amazingly, they could keep from saying the name Yahweh anywhere in this book. 9:20-10:3 - The Feast of Purim Inaugurated The book ends with the Jews making sure to keep a feast in remembrance of these events. The feast is called Purim because Haman had cast lots (or pur) to decide what day the slaughter should happen. This was considered a blessing from God. If the day was any sooner, the word might not have gone out, and Mordecai might not have been able to influence the governors to help him. What Does This Mean? This book is an amazing story. It shows how God poured out tremendous blessings on God's people who had been dispersed across the world. He was able to take care of them even though it didn't seem like he was present in their society. Everyone around them worshipped many other gods, but the Jews were remaining faithful to the one true God. This would have a tremendous influence on those around them. The nations would rage and seek to kill God's people, but those who trust in the Lord found grace and help in their time of need. This story explains how the Jews were able to go back to Jerusalem under Ezra and Nehemiah to rebuild the city and why Ezra and Nehemiah were in such high positions, to begin with. As Daniel falls out of the picture, here come Esther and Mordecai. How does this story help us to see Jesus and the gospel more clearly? As Esther goes into the throne room, laying her life on the line, aren't we tempted to see a high priestly figure who offers their own body to save their people? As Mordecai goes from being a nobody who is clothed in sackcloth to a kingly figure who is given all authority and feared, do we see a Jewish king lifted up, unexpectedly triumphant over his enemy? It could be said that Mordecai was raised from death and given all glory and honor and praise over his enemies. The king even forces his enemy to proclaim, "This is what will be done to the one to whom the king delights." Application We do not have a king over us who can make a decree like Ahasuerus. We don't live in a society that would allow this kind of mass killings, nor would we be feasting over killing our enemies. But there are several similarities in this story to our lives. We all suffer the consequences of living in a secular world. People around us are focused on self-exaltation and self-glorification. They would do anything to make other people bow down to them. It may be that some of us have enemies who have stood against us. They would run us over to keep us from being happy. Like Haman, they conspire and design ways to hurt us while appearing righteous. What happens to those who rise against us? Notice the message of this book. God seeks to bring down the proud and arrogant while lifting the humble. He can do it in a day if he so desires. Our God can give us victory over all of those who rise against us. Where do we fit in this story? We could be Mordecai. We could be paraded around in front of our enemies while they say, "This is what will be done to the one to whom the king delights." We could be Esther. Maybe an opportunity reveals itself for us to let go of our security and step out in faith. But without any doubt, we are Israel, who the great accuser is planning to wipe out. We need a savior to come and intercede for us. We need a plan that will give us power and enable us to conquer our enemies. This is what Jesus has done. The significant reversal in this story is only topped by the greatest reversal of our lives from being cursed to being children of the living God.

Given today’s topic is all about SMB cybersecurity awareness, we are thrilled to have Daniel Eliot on today's show. Why? Because Daniel is the director of small business education at the National Cyber Security Alliance. This episode is the second of 3 in a series. And, in today’s conversation, Daniel shares with us some of the misconceptions small and medium sized businesses might have when it comes to protecting their systems, information, and even their capital from cyber crime and cyber fraud. As Daniel emphatically points out, the most important thing for any business is to stay in business - and the need for cybersecurity becomes crystal clear and statistics show it’s harder for a small business to recover from a successful cyber attack. And, with 30 some-odd million SMBs employing upwards of 60 million people in the US, it’s clear to us (and hopefully you as well) that we need to do what we can to help each other stay safe as we stay online. Daniel has a lot to share - and given the theme of shared responsibility for the activities taking place this month and all year long - we hope that people not only listen to today’s episode but also take part and engage in helping to raise awareness with their colleagues, managers, business leaders, and even your partners.

In order to grow your business, you have to recognize that you are often times the bottleneck. Everything needed to grow your business starts with you! This is why it’s important to become a lifelong learner to better develop yourself and grow your business.   Daniel Marcos is the co-Founder and CEO of Gazelles Growth Institute. He is also a long-time coach and an international speaker who has shared the stage with thought leaders like Peter Diamandis, Guy Kawasaki, and Jack Canfield. On today’s show, Daniel dives into what it means and why it’s important to be a lifelong learner and how it accelerates your career.   Daniel was a very bad student academically but he built his first internet company in Mexico City back in 1999. As Daniel began hiring Stanford and Harvard graduates to come work for him, he felt uncomfortable that he wasn’t able to understand what they were saying to him. They were using jargon he had never heard before. This experience prompted him to study for his own MBA and to better understand the people who work for him.   When Daniel started his next company in the U.S., it went under during the 2008 crash. It was awful and he lost a lot of money. Verne Harnish reached out to him, and after complaining for 30 minutes, Verne asked, “What’s next?” Daniel, feeling like an absolute failure, said he was going to return to Mexico and get a salaried job to pay for his kid’s education. Verne thought this was nonsense and offered him a new opportunity. The rest is history!   Through that experience, Daniel has become obsessed with KPIs and looking at the numbers. He now has insight into what good numbers look like to help prevent others from suffering the same faith his company did back in 2008. Back then, he saw the warning signs but ignored them. Today, he helps entrepreneurs avoid them.   Daniel has a very extensive book collection, but the problem with books is they tell you how to do things, but they never mention at what stage or when you should do those things. As we go through different stages of growth, each company is going to experience something different. A one-size-fits-all approach just doesn’t work the way the books say it does.   Daniel saw a chart that stated the U.S. today has 28 million firms and 96% of them will never do over a million dollars in revenue a year. Only about 0.4% of companies go over $10 million a year in revenue. In the end, only 17,000 companies go above $50 million in revenue each year. And in each of these financially diverse companies, they all need a completely different level of attention and systems.   Interview Links: Growthinstitute.com Daniel on LinkedIn   Resources: Scaling Up for Business Growth Workshops: Take the first step to mastering the Rockefeller Habits by attending one of our workshops. Special cross-over episode....  Episode 95 of SMACtalk was so full of fire I wanted to bring the full episode here to FOMOFanz. My co-host Daniel Newman and I begin the discussion talking about the value of Facebook and how it's changed in its value for businesses but also entrepreneurs spending time on the platform.  The live audience listening on Facebook Live then took the conversation in a much more dynamic direction as we started discussing business value and priorities of entrepreneurs and making sure VALUE is something we all examine on a regular basis!   Hope you'll enjoy this special episode!  “Organic Facebook is now the office water cooler. Nothing more.” This episode started out discussing this claim co-host Daniel Newman made about the trends he’s been seeing lately on Facebook. As Daniel and co-host, Brian Fanzo began to discuss the changing landscape of Facebook and all social media channels for that manner the discussion took an interesting turn invoking a wide range of emotions and comments from the live video audience that you can read about below.  This episode might be a bit of a change of pace from the traditional SMACtalk discussions but the underlying foundation of this discussion can be translated across every aspect of your business today! More of Daniel’s Statement here:  It has truly returned to its roots of being purely a place to BS and talk about politics, family, sports, and news, but compared to the time that many people spend on it, it has almost no business value. Here is an easy way to tell. If you share something on FB that is closely connected to your work, what kind of engagement do you get? Now, share an article about your kids or politics and see what happens. If I share an article about cloud, semiconductors or IoT, I get almost nothing. If I share a picture of my kids I get a day or two of endorphin rising notifications. Over the past couple of months I've spent much less time here, but I've actually become a better customer to Facebook because instead of using it Organically, when I share business related things I put paid behind it so the content reaches a very targeted audience that could potentially consume what I'm trying to share/sell/spread. Furthermore, I've realized that the time I spent here and the "Influence" built here has no correlation to the work I do nor does it for many others. This has since been further proven as I've never been busier with client work when I was spending less time being distracted by a few interesting discussions and a littering of mind-numbing self-serving opining and a sprinkle of self-promotional content that makes me further understand why people don't want to see such content from me. Also, studies have shown it takes 25 minutes to return to work following a distraction. As a partner in multiple businesses, I find this troubling to consider how those constantly being lured in by these distractions are able to produce at even a fraction of their potential. This maps to a conversation about the future of work and compensation that will have to wait for another day. Now, having said that, Facebook is a perfectly great place to have the water cooler talk. It is nice to spend time catching up on world events and having the chance to debate them and do it in volume. However, I seriously doubt many people are able to look at their time spent here critically and come to the conclusion that there is a good return on their investment of time. Facebook is great to reach an audience, but really this is a paid vehicle, not an organic one. If you aren't selling MLM, then most client acquisition won't take place here and you would be better suited to make your connections on LinkedIn or Twitter or a more specialized group setting that has more targeted audiences.  And yes, I realize some people will not agree with me. Some may even lecture me as to why I'm wrong. I'll hear about the many great relationships that have been built here (and those are important too). But I would also suggest that odds are some good things would have happened for those people had they spent the same time on other networks or at risk of sounding crazy, that time spent working.  Okay...I could go on and on, but I'll stop here. And I'll come back to look at some point, but not until I'm done with stuff that makes the hay.  Next look for a barrage of pics of the kids and dog. Because that is what people really want to see here

This week’s episode of the Event Industry News podcast looks at the phenomenon of ‘persistence of vision’ and how it has been seized to help create an innovation in digital outdoor media technology. The innovation in question has been created by Lightvert, a company that has developed a way to use persistence of vision to deliver branded messages. The company’s CEO Daniel Siden joined the podcast to explain more. “Persistence of vision is a phenomenon that affects the human eye. It happens when you look at a bright light and look away from it. What happens is that you see a ghost of that light for just a moment. What we do is that we use that phenomenon to literally print an image in the human eye temporarily and safely.” As Daniel explains during the podcast, the technology can be used to create images the size of skyscrapers that appear briefly to the viewer. Although the system has obvious applications in the world of advertising, Daniel also looks at ways that event organisers could use the technology once it becomes available commercially.

Wedding Bush Road (Counterpoint)  When he learns of his mother’s ailing health, Daniel Rawson must leave Los Angeles and travel half a world away to the family’s horse farm on Wedding Bush Road, one hundred miles outside of Melbourne. Estranged from his parents, Daniel is hesitant to revisit their history: long divorced, his mother still maintains the farm having put out her cheating, rakish husband, and even in these later years her anger burns brightly. Daniel arrives at the farm in the heat of his parents’ conflict with Sharen, an alluring tenant and ex-lover of his father now perched on family land. Sharen and her unstable son Reggie complicate an already difficult family dynamic while Daniel has to tend to his mother’s condition, his father’s contentious behavior, and the swell of memory that strikes whenever he visits the farm. As Daniel is increasingly drawn to Sharen, the various tensions across the farm will spark events that cannot help but change them all. With a keen eye for the rugged and beautiful Australian landscape, infused with aboriginal history, and set against the workings of a rural horse farm, Wedding Bush Road is a stunning novel about the choices we make, the regrets that linger, and the unquestionable, inevitable pull of home. "David Francis is a human rights lawyer in Los Angeles, and he somehow finds time to write terrific books every few years." – KPCC’s “Take Two” “Francis proves that this reckless landscape also has a darkly seductive pull . . . Domestic drama with an offbeat, rural flavor.” —Kirkus “Compelling and honest, Wedding Bush Road is a masterful feat.” —Mary Rakow, author of This Is Why I Came “David Francis writes with precision and sensitivity about that most complicated of subjects: Home. Amid unforgettable landscapes and characters that are both beautiful and violent, Wedding Bush Road grapples with discontent and restlessness. Francis turns a sharp but generous eye on those who won't leave and those who can't stay, reminding us that family can be the most dangerous place of all.” —Mark Sarvas, author of Harry, Revised “Here’s an Australia so tactile that the page itself begins to feel textured. Francis ably tells a story of a man’s internal struggle as expressed through conflicts as rooted and primal as the soil. A dynamic and inviting read.” —Aimee Bender, author of The Color Master “I have known David Francis and his work for a long time, and I think Wedding Bush Road is his best book yet!” —Jane Smiley “With an eye for the transcendent detail, and a pitch perfect ear, David Francis gorgeously summons a farm in rural Australia. The wonderfully complex relationships among its inhabitants reflect nothing less than the tensions wrought by the country’s fractious history of colonialism. Who belongs to the land and to whom does the land belong? These are the uneasy questions raised by this searching, lovely novel.” —Marisa Silver, author of Mary Coin “A psychologically acute tale of the decline of a patrician Australian family and the forces arrayed against them. Class, sex and land knit together in this compellingly modern take on a timeless struggle. Gorgeous, dangerous and utterly captivating.”—Janet Fitch, author of White Oleander and Paint It Black “Who hasn't packed a bag and headed home? Wedding Bush Road is a beautiful, intelligent book about love, loss, and the unforgettable landscapes that made us who we are.” —David Ebershoff, author of The Danish Girl and The 19th Wife David Francis, based in Los Angeles where he works for the Norton Rose Fulbright law firm, spends part of each year back on his family’s farm in Australia. "We fully believe that optimized human beings lead to a better world. People being productive and creative in whatever it is that is theirs to do. But in many ways, our modern world works against us.” - Daniel Schmachtenberger, Co-Founder of The NeuroHacker Collective  On this special episode of Wellness Force Radio, Daniel shares far beyond how Nootropics like Qualia can provide a comprehensive hardware upgrade for radical cognitive enhancement and emotional resilience, but also how he believes it is creating the building blocks towards a better planet. You, The N Equals One [2:47] In a world of mass distractions, responsibilities, cumulative stressors and more notifications than ever in the palms of hands, millions of Americans have long since met their cognitive and emotional capacity.    Cognitive capacity is a nuanced relationship between many variables. Optimizing for one variable of cognitive function at the expense of other critical ones would not give us the result of comprehensive enhancement of human capability. For instance, having drive without the ability to focus well, or willpower without emotional resilience. For that reason, The Neurohacker Collective have designed a formula that deliberately balances subjective effects to give meaningful enhancement in a comprehensive way – a whole system upgrade called Qualia. If you're here reading, you felt the call towards Qualia. If you're in the contemplation phase or in the process of learning, this is an optimal time for your N=1. What is N=1? N-of-1 or single subject clinical trials consider an individual patient as the sole unit of observation in a study investigating the efficacy or side-effect profiles of different interventions. The ultimate goal of an n-of-1 trial is to determine the optimal or best intervention for an individual patient using objective data-driven criteria. From baseline to Qualia for 4 weeks, here are the 5 steps to start your own personal N:1 experiment in emotional resilience and cognitive performance:    Inspired Action: Order your 30 day supply of Qualia Baseline: Once your Qualia is received, take a baseline memory, reason, concentration and/or comprehensive cognitive test(s) on either Quantified Mind or Cambridge Brain Sciences and mark the date Stage 1: Begin stage 1 of Qualia on an empty stomach each morning for 30 days. Download the Qualia Quick Start Guide for full directions on stage 2 and total program here Journal: Each day for 30 days, journal for 5-7 minutes after your meditation session, or at minimum, during the same time each day. After 30 days: Congrats, you did it! How do you feel? What did you learn about yourself and Qualia? Now, reassess the same tests again for memory, reason, concentration and/or comprehensive cognitive performance (then email Josh and tell him how you feel!)   Rising Above All The Noise [11:36]   "What could a person of normal intelligence do with their life if they fully dedicated themselves to developing themselves comprehensively for the benefit of humanity?" - Richard Buckminster Fuller   People of all ages seek thier life purpose and calling. Maybe you've been called to a career or a responsibility that you now realize is keeping you from what you feel is really your life calling? If you're aware your vocation doesn't coincide with who you really are, you have the power change it because it's never too late to start a new path that benefit yourself and others. Rising above all the noise of modern society that's distracting you starts by creating the space to look inside.  To begin, use meditation or box-breathing to enter a calm mindset in the stillness and ask yourself these questions: What does the future of the world look like? How does this transition look like for everyone? What does it look like for me? If all my financial needs were met, what would I do? What would be the most meaningful thing for me to do? Answering these questions will raise your awareness above the noise and closer to true alignment with your most authentic self.   "By asking yourself these questions, we're not looking to answer how do we gain or how do we win at life. Rather, we're looking at what problems in the world bother us the most and what interest us."- Daniel Schmachtenberger   About Daniel Schmachtenberger [13:08]   Daniel Schmachtenberger is a social engineer and evolutionary philosopher and strategist. He is the Founder of Critical Path Institute, The Emergence Project, and The Co-Founder of The Neurohacker Collective. With an early childhood in the Transcendental Meditation community of Fairfield, Iowa, Daniel was homeschooled on the works of Buckminster Fuller, Fritjof Capra, and David Bohm. After many relocations in childhood, Daniel returned to Fairfield to further math and eastern philosophy studies at Maharishi University, before delving into the work of his adult life. After accumulating comprehensive inventories on behavioral influence, coupled with an already comprehensive literacy of complex systems and whole systems science, he then founded The Emergence Project and began working with a host of luminaries to tackle global scale problems with global scale solutions. Concurrently, he researched the epistemological frontier of neuroscience, delving deeply into integrative medicine as well as emergent neurotech tools and psychological techniques to optimize solutions on both sides of the mind/brain interface. All of these approaches, within an overarching framework of whole systems problem solving, have resulted in his axiomatic deconstruction of assumed scientific boundaries, and the emergence of a more integrally connected body of knowledge from which to understand scholarship. Daniel is not only a founder at Neurohacker Collective, but moreover a uniquely educated pioneer who is broadening the definition of scientific rigor itself.   What are Nootropics? [19:57] A Nootropic is a chemical that enhances some aspect of our cognitive ability beyond our normal capability without any impactful side affects. When our brain power and cognitive ability drops below normal baseline, Nootropics help  to support existing and to create new capacities for our brainpower. Nootropics like Qualia are not "medicine," but they can optimize our capability to overcome when we face different challenges such as brain fog.   The Difference between Nootropics and "Smart Drugs" A lot of people will take "smart drugs" such as Adderall to help them focus, but Adderall also has a lot of long term side affects such as irritability, anxiety, loss of empathy and ability for digit span. Adderall can help enhance one aspect, but unlike Nootropics that support systemic enhancement, it won't fully supplement the brain in a comprehensive manner.   Emotional Resilience, Curiosity & Wellness [24:50]   How many times have you felt the pull of distraction today? Maybe caught yourself looking at your phone too much? Did you try to have a conversation with someone, but they were absorbed by their phone? It is easy to become slaves to emails, notifications, and social media messages. So much so, that the present moment is lost.  When we're practicing emotional resilience however, we can take on deeper personal connections, and our biggest and brightest goals. When we're present, we're naturally curious, which allows us unlimited access to our wellness force: our ability to create a positive vibration in that moment, and in the collective world. It's the burning curiosity of visionaries like the Co-Founder of The Neurohacker Collective, Daniel Schmachtenberger, who believes that it is now both possible and necessary for human beings to dramatically upgrade our individual and collective capacities and safeguard the wellbeing of all, and he is on a mission to help build a global alliance of responsible, empowered individuals and like minded groups dedicated to making this vision a reality.   Cognitive Enhancement [28:13]   "We believe that it is now both possible and necessary for human beings to dramatically upgrade our individual and collective capacities and safeguard the well-being of all. Our mission is to help build a global alliance of responsible, empowered individuals and like minded groups dedicated to making this vision a reality." -Daniel Schmachtenberger   At a young age, Daniel realized that he was experiencing brain fog. In order to enhance his thinking, he began to focus on underlying disease structures to find the root of the problem. Unlike some acute diseases that can be cured with one medication, areas of health such as brain fog, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's are more complicated and can have several root causes. To help end his brain fog, Daniel needed to enhance his brain by providing it with an optimal cognitive bandwidth. So he asked himself, how could a person enhance their own cognitive ability? To understand the brain's ability and how we can reach cognitive enhancement, Daniel studied the following areas: Cognitive chemistry Nootropics Brain nutrients Neuro chemistry and structure Smart drugs Short term vs. long term memory Verbal fluency and ability Digital spain Focus and concentration Thinking speed Neurotransmitters (dopamine, glutamine) Get 10x More Done In Life [37:01]    "Increasing the quality of our experience means less subjective suffering and more subjective happiness. That's important because human experience is intrinsically meaningful. By experiencing human capability and the pre-disposition to solve problems, we create things of meaning which also ends up increasing the experience of other people." - Daniel Schmachtenberger   Every single one of us has a hidden meaning or purpose, just waiting to be discovered. But we can't find it if we're distracted by incessant messages, media, or outside noise. We're all either motivated or inspired by numerous factors and in different manners. Our world view, personal beliefs, economic situation, and even knowing our biology can motivate or direct us towards what we feel called to do. How we can use this motivation to our advantage? We can biologically optimize our lives with technology and biomarker data. Using technology and biomarker data, we can improve what we has human beings are capable of doing in this world. Sources such as WellnessFX, 23 And Me, and Ubiome can give us the genetics data we need to help us track our progress while using a nootropic like Qualia to enhance our lives and increase our emotional resilience.   "Qualia is not your golden ticket to everything, but it can support you by enhancing your ability to do things more effectively and grow your capability to make better decisions." -  Daniel Schmachtenberger   How To Increase Our Emotional Presence [46:12]   "There's circuitry in the brain that actually wired us to care for other people and tribes. That's how we would have survived." - Jason Silva of Brain Games   We are meant to be in a tribe. When we're surrounded by people who give us the compassion and support that we need to grow, we all win. But not everyone is born with or capable of being empathetic towards others. How can we create more empathy and compassion? According to Daniel, humans have "hardware" and "software" that connects us with the "collective" or the rest of the world. Together, all of our physical and social needs are interdependent upon each other. Daniel gave a great example of how we can take care of ourselves while also being omni-considerate. To begin, think about life would be like without plants. Our bioshphere created both us and plants. Therfore, without plants, we wouldn't have the means to live- no air nor food. The same goes for water and gravity. We are completely interdependent with the planet and everyone else.   Our Actions Affect Everything [53:23] With that thought in mind, we can increase our emotional presence by being more present with our actions or what we buy. Every time we make a decision, we can make the best choice by thinking about not only how it will affect ourselves, but everything else in the biosphere as well. We're a growing population and we need to be emotionally present with how our actions are affecting not only people, but the planet.   See the World Differently   "Practice looking at the world through other people's eyes." - Daniel Schmachtenberger   One of Daniel's favorite ways to increase emotional presence is just to think about looking at the world through the perspective of other people. What other people value What can hurt them Why they are asking for something The reason they feel upset or feel a certain way about something This way of thinking can help us grow our wellness through better relationships with loved ones and create positive connections with everyone else that we come into contact with. Emotional Resilience [47:30]   With all of the challenges that we face in this world, it can be emotionally draining at times. At some point we may feel like we've lost our original path to living the life that we want. The life we wanted that gave us purpose. Nootropics like Qualia can support people in get engaged once again with what they are curious about. As Daniel discusses during the 2016 event "The Hive Panel: The Future of Humanity and Systems Thinking" he believes that only fully optimized human beings can improve the world. The entire political landscape among longstanding conservative figures and grassroots activists is being consumed and defined by whether individuals plan to vote for Trump or not.  Since CR’s Mark Levin came out with his statement reluctantly announcing his intention to personally vote for Trump, many activists have expressed either support or disappointment.  In this episode of the Conservative Conscience, Daniel disagrees with the entire premise that this is the most important question facing conservatives now and explores ways anti-establishment constitutionalists can unite behind actionable items they both agree on.   As Daniel notes, it’s heartbreaking watching so many individuals who agree on 90% of the issues, or even 100% of the issues, tear each over apart over the philosophical question of the lesser of two evils.  Daniel dissents from the entire debate by explaining that conservatives shouldn’t be defined by their reluctant acceptance or rejection of Trump.  It’s not worth it, and frankly it won’t make a difference at this point.    What is important, however, is that conservatives of all stripes – who basically agree on the issues and the insufferable nature of the existing GOP –must fight on the issues together and defeat efforts to increase refugees, give away the internet, and pass jailbreak legislation.  We must fight the transgender lobby and stand up for religious liberty.  We must defend North Carolina and fight judicial tyranny.  We must help support all the good conservative candidates running for state office and people like Joe Miller who are challenging the liberal oligarchy for federal office.    As conservatives fight with each other and trade insults about whether an insignificant number of their friends will actually make a difference by staying home or voting for Trump, why not pause the infighting for a few days and donate $30 to a real conservative down the ballot?  Why not flood state and federal offices on individual issues that we can still influence?  And let’s plot a path towards a revitalized political vehicle for our views up and down the ballot, irrespective of the outcome of this election.  Then you can go back to fighting each other.  But at least do something productive while we’re destroying relationships over nothing.      Key quotes   “Our republic will not rise or fall on your vote for president alone, but whether you acquiesce to this corrupt system or take your own destiny into your hands.”   “A group of 50,000 or so activists will not determine the outcome of an election but they can determine the outcome of a nation.”   Show links   Watch Levin TV Episode 123 where Mark discusses his personal decision Conservatives must unite behind North Carolina Learn more about your ad choices. Crisis of Conscience is What Has Gotten Us Here Ep 46

“Conscience is the most sacred of all property,” said James Madison.   Yet when Ted Cruz stood in front of delegates at the GOP convention last Wednesday and uttered the words, “vote your conscience,” the world turned upside down and many in the room wildly drowned out his words with boos.   And we though being a conservative was about principles? Guess not.   “This is a crisis of conscience of the likes we’ve never seen before,” argues Daniel Horowitz. On this week’s episode of the Conservative Conscience Horowitz breaks down how the real battle is not R’s vs. D’s but about protecting our conscience and advancing our values.   Every four years it’s the same song and dance. We end up sacrificing conservatism at the Republican altar. This year we have Donald Trump and again the knee-jerk reaction is the same – “we MUST support him so that the Democrats don’t win!” But he’s not a conservative – “we don’t care!”   Conservatives need to start asking themselves, is this strategy working?   As Daniel explains, there is a big difference between strategically voting for Trump while concurrently focusing on long term reforms and retaining our values than realigning all of our views to comport with some of his problematic positions.  There is a disturbing trend of some conservatives adopting new liberal positions in order to show “unity” with Trump.  This is a big mistake, and is frankly the mistake that has cost us any solid progress over the past 28 years.  Vote for whomever you want, but retain your conscience and don’t change your deep rooted principles.       Key Quotes   “Instead of seeking new and foreign principles because we continue to fail in pursuit of tired, old tactics, why not renew our old timeless principles with new, innovative tactics.”   “We die on their hills; fall on their swords.   We lose elections anyway either right away or 2-4 years later because of it.  We’ve had the people’s house, the body closest to the people, for 18 of the past 22 years.  Look at the result.”    “We win enough victories that are too minute and too insignificant to fundamentally move the ball forward, yet tantalizing enough to allure us into a false sense of security.  This prevents us from pursuing the tough long-term reforms that will actually create enduring victories.”     Don’t Miss: ·         More than a speech: How Cruz destroyed the ‘lesser of two evils’ narrative ·         Trump speech: The good, the bad, and the ugly     Learn more about your ad choices. It all has less to do with what you bring to the table than it does with how close you allow God to get to you. As Daniel concludes the pivotal message he began last week, he offers all kinds of bright illustrations to help us grasp this one great truth: the best is yet ahead, and you can't drag your past along with you if you'd embrace all the fulfillment that's in store. (And it's trusting the promises of God--not your promises to yourself--that propels you forward to get there.)

If Jesus knows us intimately... why on earth would He limit Himself to losers like us for accomplishing His work in the world? That could be a real problem for anybody-but especially for Jesus, who could do it all Himself (and do it so much better, at that). As Daniel carefully explains Jesus problem, youll begin to sense the marvelous wisdom and profound love that motivates Him. If youve been in a spiritual desert, or if the thrill of being ministered to has dried up, then perhaps Jesus is transforming you from a receiver-of-ministry to a giver-of-ministry. And its all because He knows you so well; as He uses you more and more in His eternal purposes, youll discover greater joy than anything else on earth can offer.

In doing things both for us and through us, God establishes a very purposeful order that keeps us safely headed into more and more transformation. (If we hang onto the idea that we have to experience certain things happening through us before God will do anything for us, were cooked.) As we bask in the knowledge that He loves us regardless of how well we do, we can eagerly embrace the inevitable changes that well experience as our nature increasingly comes to resemble His. As Daniel introduces a new study in I Peter, he focuses on how this hard-to-believe truth makes it possible for us to actually love unlovable people.
