Sometimes the right choice is also the hardest one. In our daily prayer and devotional, we are reminded that as parents, spouses, friends, or leaders, God often calls us to take steps of faith that don’t align with the world’s expectations. Saying “no” to conformity and “yes” to God’s way can feel uncomfortable in the moment, but His Word reminds us that His will is always good, pleasing, and perfect. Conviction is often the Spirit’s way of guiding us into what is best. Romans 12:2 reminds us that transformation happens as we renew our minds in God’s truth. When we consistently lean into Scripture, pray for discernment, and trust His leading, He equips us with courage to walk forward—even when the path feels uncertain. Faith-filled steps may not always be easy, but they are always worth it. When we choose obedience, we not only honor God but also position ourselves and those we love to receive His best. Today's Bible Reading: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." – Romans 12:2 Key Takeaways Conviction is an invitation to step away from conformity and into God’s will. Renewing our minds with Scripture helps us discern His direction clearly. Faith often requires uncomfortable but courageous steps of obedience. God’s plans are always for our good, even when they feel hard in the moment. Let’s Pray Together Lord God, You are the way, and Your way is perfect. Help me not to conform to the world but to be renewed daily in Your Word. Give me courage to follow through when I feel convicted, trusting that Your plan is good, pleasing, and perfect. Thank You for guiding me and walking with me as I take steps of faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Paul reminds them that the Lord is faithful and will strengthen and guard them. He commands the church to distance themselves from those who live irresponsibly and not according to the teachings they received. He stresses the importance of hard work, recalling how he and his companions modeled diligence by laboring day and night so they would not be a burden. Paul firmly warns that anyone unwilling to work should not eat. He encourages believers not to grow tired of doing good and advises them to lovingly correct those who disobey, yet not treat them as enemies. Paul closes with a prayer for peace and a personal blessing written by his own hand. As we live out our faith, we must reflect a spirit of diligence, integrity, and perseverance. The apostle Paul reminds us that our work matters to God and that we should not grow weary in doing good, even when it feels unnoticed. We are challenged to avoid idleness and contribute faithfully in whatever roles God has given us. When we see fellow believers struggling or drifting, we are instructed to correct them gently, treating them as family rather than enemies. Above all, we are encouraged to trust in the Lord's faithfulness to strengthen and protect us. In every situation, whether at work, in service, or in correction, we are to live with patience, endurance, and a heart that seeks peace. Kind Father, we thank You for being our constant source of strength and protection. Help us to live with discipline and dedication, honoring You in the way we work and serve. Guard our hearts from discouragement when the path feels long, and teach us to persevere in doing good. Give us the courage to lovingly guide others when they stumble, always with kindness, grace, and conviction. Fill our lives with Your peace and remind us that You are with us through every challenge. May we walk steadily in Your truth, working diligently and trusting fully in Your unfailing love. Thought Questions: How does Paul's warning against idleness and distracted living challenge you to reevaluate your daily habits and priorities in life? What are crucial keys when approaching a Christian about sin in their life? How do you prepare beforehand to do so with strength and grace? Might living in peace with God and others require breaking association with unrepentant Christian family? Why is this important to do?

Depression and seasons of deep sadness can make life feel like it’s swallowed up in darkness. In our daily prayer and devotion, we remember that whether triggered by circumstances or unexplainable inner struggles, those moments can feel isolating and overwhelming. Yet Scripture reminds us that the light of Christ shines brighter than any darkness we face. Jesus is not only the Light of the World (John 8:12), but He also promises that the darkness cannot overcome Him. Even when our hearts feel heavy and hopeless, His presence brings warmth, direction, and peace. Turning to Him in prayer, leaning on His Word, and allowing His people to surround us with encouragement can help us see His light even in the darkest valleys. Depression may not vanish overnight, but the promise of John 1:5 assures us that the darkness will never win. Christ’s light prevails—and we can cling to Him for the strength to keep moving forward. Today's Bible Reading "In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” – John 1:4-5 Key Takeaways Depression and sadness may linger, but they are not stronger than Christ’s light. Isolation makes darkness heavier; community and God’s Word bring renewal. Jesus, the Light of the World, promises that the darkness cannot overcome Him. Turning to Him in prayer helps us shift our focus from despair to His radiant hope. Let’s Pray Together Dear Jesus, please help me find light when I feel surrounded by darkness. You are the world’s light, and Your love pierces through despair. Surround me with Your brilliance and guide me to trust You even in the hardest moments. My heart praises You, Lord. Amen. Calls to Action Reach out to a trusted friend or counselor if you are struggling with depression. Write down verses about God’s light (like John 1:5 or Psalm 27:1) and keep them nearby. Share this prayer with someone who may be walking through a dark season. In this Bible Story, Jesus feeds five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. The crowds want him to be made king, so Jesus departs before the crowd becomes violent. The disciples depart on a boat while Jesus stays on shore to pray. Then, in power and glory, Jesus walks on water to return with his disciples. This story is inspired by John 6:1-10, Matthew 14:14-33. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.Today's Bible verse is Matthew 14:29 from the King James Version.Episode 193: As Jesus resumed his teaching around the shores of Galilee, the crowd around Him grew to swelling numbers. After teaching them all day, He had them sit for a meal. Though there were only two small fish and five round loaves of bread, Jesus showed the crowd that He has the power to provide for their needs. He multiplied the food to feed over five-thousand people! After this, the crowd became frenzied and Jesus sent His disciples ahead of Him on the sea while He escaped to pray. As the disciples were on the sea in the late of night, Jesus appeared walking on the water next to them. And though they were frightened they got a first-hand glimpse at what faith in Jesus can do.Hear the Bible come to life as Pastor Jack Graham leads you through the official BibleinaYear.com podcast. Some were afraid that the day of the Lord had already arrived. Paul reassures them that it will not happen until the rebellion occurs and the "man of lawlessness" is revealed—someone who exalts himself above God and deceives many. However, God is in control and will ultimately overthrow him. Paul reminds the believers that they are chosen by God for salvation through the Spirit and must believe in the truth. He encourages them to stand firm in the teachings they received, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and not to be shaken by fear or false messages. Paul closes by praying that God would strengthen their hearts and encourage them in every good work and word. As followers of Christ, we must remain grounded in truth, especially when fear and confusion rise around us. Like the claims that Jesus had already come, we live in a world filled with distractions and deception, but we are called to hold to the gospel we have received. We must remember that God has chosen and equipped us through His Spirit to stand firm. Instead of being shaken by every new fear or rumor, we must focus our eyes on Christ and remain faithful in our words and actions. As in their day, apostasy and misleading figures may arise, but our hope is secure in Jesus, who has loved us and given us great hope as we continue to serve Him. Unshakeable Lord, You are our steady anchor in a world full of confusion and change. When fear tries to shake us, remind us of Your unchanging truth. Guard our hearts and minds against deception, and strengthen us to stand firm in Your Word. Help us to live with courage, trusting that You have called us, loved us, and will finish the work You have begun in us. Fill us with the comfort of Your presence and the power of Your Spirit. May our lives reflect Your glory as we wait with hope and confidence for the coming of our Lord Jesus. Thought Questions: What do you know about the day the Lord Jesus will return? How does knowing the word help you refute false ideas about the end of time? What do you know about “the man of lawlessness”? No matter who he was or is, what does God promise will happen through Jesus? How does God call us to Him through the gospel? Why should you be directing people to the message of Jesus and pursuing His word yourself?

SaVon and Alex return with Nyla Symone, and begin with some important show updates before jumping into a Patreon member question on what single movie or TV show best explains Black culture to aliens—sparking a hilarious debate that ranges from The Cosby Show and Martin to Get Out, SpongeBob and even Hancock (11:22). From there they revisit Cardi B's long-awaited album, debating standout tracks like “Bodega Baddie,” the Cash Cobain feature and whether a rumored Nicki Minaj shot really landed (19:53). The crew highlights Cardi's rollout, from her NYC train promo to sitting down with Angie Martinez and Joe & Jada while addressing his comments about her pen (30:30), and note her projected 200K first-week sales (39:42). They then unpack Jay Electronica's new project, focusing on the controversial decision to open with a Diddy voice note and how it plays amid Diddy's legal troubles (48:06). Finally, they close by debating Diddy's sentencing and whether the Black community will embrace him if he returns home (56:23) and discussing the FTC's antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation/Ticketmaster (1:19:54). Read OnlineOnce when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” Luke 9:18It's interesting that Jesus was both “praying in solitude” and that “the disciples were with him.” Saint Bede explains this apparent contradiction by stating that “the Son alone is able to penetrate the incomprehensible secrets of the Father's will.” Therefore, our Lord was always alone with the Father in the sense that only Jesus knew the Father fully and intimately. This is because He is the Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity, the Eternal Son of the Father. With that fact clearly understood, it's also important to understand that as Jesus prayed to the Father within His human nature, something new took place. Though Jesus was eternally with the Father, His human nature was not eternally with the Father. Therefore, as the Eternal Son of God communed with the Eternal Father while living in human flesh, human nature was suddenly elevated to a height that it had never been before. Not only was the Eternal Son living in perfect union with the Father, but now the Eternal Son, fully human, brought His human nature into this oneness.Though this may seem a bit philosophical to some, it points to a very important reality that affects us all. Through our Lord's human prayer to the Father, we are all invited to join with Jesus and share in this divine oneness. The Son of God, as a human being, made it possible for us as humans to share in the elevation of our very lives to oneness with God the Father. And though the Son of God will always retain a unique union with the Father, we are, nonetheless, by participation, invited to share in their life. So why is this important? One reason is that there is no greater human fulfillment we could ever achieve than to share in the prayer of the Son to the Father. Throughout our lives, we are constantly looking for fulfillment in one form or another. We want to be happy. We want enjoyment in life. We have a natural desire for happiness that we are constantly seeking to fulfill. What's important to understand is that the greatest happiness comes by sharing in the deep human prayer of the Son to the Father. Prayer, true prayer, is the answer to our deepest desire.Reflect, today, upon whether or not you regularly engage in deep prayer. Can you point to times when you, like our Lord, were alone with God, communing with Him in the depths of your human soul, being drawn to Him through prayer? There are many levels of prayer, as is attested to by many saints. Make the choice to deepen your prayer. Go before our Lord today and pour out your heart to Him, asking Him to draw you into the holy solitude of His prayer to the Father. Doing so will bring forth in you the deepest human satisfaction possible in life. My praying Lord, as You spent time alone with the Father, You united Your human nature with Him, thus elevating our nature to a glorious degree. Please draw me to You, dear Lord, so that I may know You and the Father through true, deep and sustaining prayer. May this oneness with You be the cause of my deepest fulfillment in life. Today's episode is an UPDATE on what is happening with the Feast of Trumpets that you don't want to miss! I also am covering the random turning for today, which comes to us from Psalm 56: 1-13: "Prayer for Relief from Tormentors." David shows how you can trust God more than anyone else and how you can be open with Him about all your thoughts, issues, problems, and praises. You are 100% safe to open up to God, and you ought to because He knows what you're thinking and doing at all times anyway, so you're not going to surprise Him with your vulnerabilities and admissions to Him. In fact doing so brings you closer to Him in your own perspective of intimacy, knowing that He will always love you no matter what you do, so long as you remain humble and have a healthy fear, and a contrite heart toward Him. What a blessing to know that, isn't it! If you are blessed by today's Bible study, please support my channel by liking, subscribing, commenting, and sharing with your friends and family! I am not a Pastor, and agree with God's word that women are not supposed to be Pastors. However, all people are called to share the gospel. It is perfectly acceptable and Biblical for women to lead Bibles studies outside the church as an ancillary addition to the church, and especially if it is a viable avenue for study of the Word on a daily basis, like I'm doing on this show, and paving the way for all of us to be closer to the Lord and become more knowledgeable of the Bible. If you care to contribute to my work with the Daily Bible study and sharing the Gospel, as part of your tithes and offerings, you can do so through PayPal by sending it to my PayPal address of: ReneHoladay@gmail.com You are also welcome to email me at the same email address above if you have any thoughts you'd like to share about this episode! The Epic of God by Louis McCall https://www.amazon.com/Epic-God-Louis-McCall/dp/B0DVJ5G6W2 Louismccallinternational.com Jesus used parables that were fictional to make practical and spiritual points, provoke thought, and enlighten. The Epic of God is a speculative fictional account of the epic story of our heroic God, lover, and savior from eternity past to eternity future. Though fictional, this story is based on Biblical history, hints, and prophecy taken from scripture, brought to life and woven together by the narrative of a watcher angel.About the author Louis McCall was born in Chicago, Illinois and attended Northwestern University where he received a Ph.D. Later, he also attended the National War College of the National Defense University. Louis was an Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University prior to a 36-year career in the U.S. Department of State, first as a Foreign Service officer and then as a foreign affairs Civil Service employee where he served as Consul General in Florence, Italy, Chargé d'Affaires in Brunei, U.S. Representative to the Republic of San Marino, and Assistant Inspector General. He lived in or worked in, at least temporarily, 60 countries on six continents. Whether in academia or as a diplomat, Louis found opportunities to live his faith, including part-time ministry of the good news in word and in song, including co-laboring with missionaries, national church leaders, and the underground church. When ministering early in his diplomatic career from the pulpit of a great church in Calcutta, India, Louis said to those in attendance that he had determined not to be ashamed of the gospel of Christ. That has been a commitment he has endeavored to keep over the years. In his final two years at the Department of State he organized and led the National Day of Prayer observances in the Department. Now, in his new career as an author, he has the pleasure of greater freedom in sharing what God has placed in his heart. Louis is active simultaneously in two churches in Washington, D.C. One is a multi-site non-denominational church, where he is an elder, and the other a Catholic church where he is a regular cantor, though not a Catholic himself. He has managed this with the blessing and full knowledge of pastors and priests. This has been an outgrowth of his early association with a mixed protestant-Catholic charismatic house-based worship group, his association with the late Mother Teresa of Calcutta, his Catholic charismatic wife, and guest ministry in churches and bible schools of various denominations while living in or working in other countries.
