What does it really mean to be friends with God—and how can that friendship fill our lives with lasting joy? In this uplifting episode, we talk with Faith about how intimacy with God shifts our desires, strengthens our faith, and sustains us through hardship. We also explore how to take that next step into deeper friendship with Him, and what it practically looks like to live each day knowing God as both Father and Friend. Plus, don't miss details on our journal giveaway over on Instagram @awesome_marriage! Episode Highlights: Friendship with God sparks joy in our lives. Joy is referenced over 400 times in scripture. Our default mode is to find joy in God's presence. Joy is not just a moment but a continuous state. The fall of humankind began when joy was sought outside of God. Joy is deeper than happiness; it encompasses peace and confidence. Every season of life has its own joy to discover. Jesus is the source of our completion and joy. Enjoying the Holy Spirit alters your desires. Acknowledging God in daily life fosters intimacy. Practicing the presence of God can be done in all activities. Friendship with God is accessible through salvation. Questions for Reflection: How would you describe your current friendship with God? What moments in your life have made you feel closest to God? What did those times have in common? What spiritual disciplines or habits help you feel more connected to God on a daily basis? Are there any areas where you feel distant from God right now? What might be contributing to that? Are there any distractions or habits you might need to let go of to prioritize friendship with God? Quotes from Today's Episode: "We can be friends with God." "Jesus is where my completion is." "He does the heart work." "Acknowledge Him in all your ways." "God's got answers for all of us." Meet the God you need to know for daily Spirit-led living | with Margaret Feinberg

Stephanie welcomes back author Margaret Feinberg to explore Margaret's journey to better understand and personally experience the Holy Spirit, and share insights about how God's Spirit works in our everyday lives. Margaret's new book, "The God you need to know” invites us into a deep dive in the Person and Work of God's Holy Spirit. Many people think the Holy Spirit first appeared in Acts 2 (Pentecost), yet the Spirit has been active throughout the whole Bible. In the Old Testament, the Spirit is present from the very beginning, hovering over the waters in Genesis. The Holy Spirit empowers people in many diverse ways, such as giving wisdom to artisans like Bezalel or clothing Gideon with courage. Realizing this deepens our appreciation of God's ongoing presence and reminds us that spiritual experiences aren't limited to the extraordinary—they are woven throughout the ordinary. Margaret says, the story of the Spirit didn't start at Pentecost, and it doesn't only happen in dramatic moments. Where might you miss the Spirit at work in your daily routines? Margaret describes her research into how people experience the Holy Spirit, and discovered that there is no “cookie-cutter” approach. Some feel a nudge or inner voice, others recall Scripture, some sense physical warmth, and others have dreams or receive guidance in mundane activities. The Holy Spirit's creativity matches our unique personalities and learning styles. Together, Margaret and Stephanie wonder, How might God communicate with you in a way that matches your temperament? Are you overlooking His voice because you expect it to look a certain way? Margaret expands the definition of miracles from the spectacular to “the kindness of God on display.” She shares examples like God guiding someone home when lost or prompting a generous act. Sometimes miracles are obvious, but often, like at the wedding in Cana, they remain hidden to many—yet are miraculous all the same. So, together, they ask, What small moments in your life might be God's quiet miracles—His kindness breaking into your routine? Drawing from the story of Bezalel, Margaret points out the Spirit's role in empowering creativity. Making art, plans, connections, and even daily tasks can be inspired by God. We're all invited to “make” with the Spirit's inspiration, whether it's a beautiful loaf of bread or a supportive friendship. She prompts us to wonder, What is God inviting you to create or offer today? Margaret encourages us to pray simple prayers for the Holy Spirit's presence and guidance daily—paying attention to coincidences, inspirations, or “nudges.” While engaging with the Spirit may seem mysterious or even intimidating, it leads to freedom, peace, and transformation. She challenges each one of us: For the next week, ask, “Holy Spirit, help me notice Your presence today.” Journal what you sense, feel, or notice—especially in small ways. The Holy Spirit is alive and active—sometimes dramatic, often gentle, always personal. By lifting our expectations and slowing down to notice, we can discover God's kindness in new places and learn to walk more closely with Him, trusting that He meets us right where we are. Embrace God today, the God you need to know! MEET MARGARET FEINBERG Margaret Feinberg, one of America's most beloved Bible teachers, speaks at churches and conferences. Her books, including Taste and See and Fight Back With Joy, along with their corresponding Bible studies, have sold more than one million copies and received critical acclaim and national media coverage from the Associated Press, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, and more. She was named by Christianity Today as one of fifty women most shaping culture and the church today. Margaret savors life with her husband, Leif, and their superpup, Zoom. Zoom makes an appearance in the interview on Gospel Spice, and you can catch him on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/gospelspice Now that you've read the official bio, here's the kick off your shoes and drink iced tea on the back porch version: Margaret spends most mornings with her good friends Coffee and God. Without Coffee, mornings would be difficult. Without God, life would be impossible. You'll often find Margaret (puppy-in-tow) adventuring outdoors—she enjoys hiking, river rafting, and scanning the night sky for the Northern Lights and shooting stars. She boasts an exceptionally dry sense of humor that she attributes to her Jewish father. Little known secret: He was recently inducted into the Surfer's Hall of Fame, and her mom earned her captain's license for 60-ton ships. They're pretty amazing. You'd like them. Married to Leif for more than a decade, Margaret's known for losing things like her sunglasses on her head, keys in her hand, or her phone for the 12th time in the same day. Luckily, Zoom hasn't been left anywhere… yet. Always up for an adventure, Margaret is known to drive 50 miles to chase down a food truck. She prefers watching comedies and laughing until her tummy aches over doing sit ups. More about Margaret here: https://margaretfeinberg.com/  ABOUT “THE GOD YOU NEED TO KNOW” Discover answers to your biggest questions about the Holy Spirit--and invite the Spirit to move in your life in powerful, real, tangible ways. The topic of the Holy Spirit can be…well, spirited…and one that sparks passionate discussion, especially among the most devout religious circles. What does it mean to be filled with the Holy Spirit? Are spiritual gifts still relevant today? Was the move of the Holy Spirit reserved for a specific age in history – or is the Spirit active now? The book traces Margaret's personal search for the Holy Spirit's work in her own life, rooted in childhood experiences and theological study. She unpacks the Spirit's role in the lives of biblical figures like Gideon, David, Ezekiel, and Bezalel, showing how God's presence has never been limited to a single moment in history. “Over the last few years, I've embarked on a deep exploration of the Holy Spirit prior to Pentecost, Margaret writes. “When we simply skip forward to the displays of the Spirit at Pentecost, we miss the faithful ways the Spirit of the Living God has been present and active with people throughout history. That's why we must explore the Holy Spirit on the road to Pentecost. The Spirit is not just the God we want to know; this is the God we need to know.” Everyone has questions about the Holy Spirit. If faith in Jesus provides my connection to God, then what role does the Holy Spirit play? How is the Spirit part of my day-to-day relationship with Christ? And why doesn't the Spirit's work play out in my life the way it seems to in the Bible? Why do other believers seem to have a connection to the Spirit, and I don't? Even longtime Jesus followers can feel stymied and confused. In The God You Need to Know, Margaret Feinberg, the bestselling author of Fight Back with Joy and Scouting the Divine, takes you on a journey through the Old Testament on the road to Pentecost to find answers to your burning questions about the Spirit. You will discover: The Spirit still working powerfully in unexpected places How to respond to spiritual promptings that often go ignored A deeper understanding of the Spirit's role in biblical events, especially the Old Testament How to encounter the Holy Spirit in fresh and practical ways Spiritual renewal through companionship with God The Holy Spirit's appearance on the Day of Pentecost was not a grand debut; it was the culmination of the Spirit's work since the beginning of time. You can experience a vibrant life with the same powerful flame. It's time to discover the God you need to know. This was our final Q&A session wrapping up Grace's lecture series on the Holy Spirit (you can get here), and what a fantastic conversation it turned out to be! Grace shared how spending time with pneumatology has shifted her focus toward the practical, embodied aspects of faith - moving beyond the academic exercises of graduate school toward understanding how the Spirit calls us to live sustainably and care for all of creation. We dove deep into how dualistic thinking has harmed both our relationship with the earth and our understanding of ourselves as whole beings - body and spirit together. Grace beautifully connected this to everything from climate justice to prayer practices, showing how recognizing the Spirit's presence in all aspects of life breaks down those false sacred-secular divisions. We also tackled some great practical questions about helping congregations develop Spirit-awareness and discerning authentic spiritual movements from cultural trends. Read OnlineAll who heard these things took them to heart, saying, “What, then, will this child be?” For surely the hand of the Lord was with him. The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the desert until the day of his manifestation to Israel. Luke 1:65–66John the Baptist was formed by the hand of the Lord. Saint Thomas Aquinas goes so far as to say that John was sanctified in the womb of his mother, Elizabeth, as is written: “He will be filled with the holy Spirit even from his mother's womb” (Luke 1:15). From the moment that the Blessed Virgin Mary greeted Elizabeth and John leaped for joy, the hand of the Lord was upon John, making him holy and leading him to the fulfillment of God's holy will.John's early life is not recorded for us, other than in the passage quoted above. We are told that he “grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the desert until the day of his manifestation to Israel.” We should see in this passage the truth that John was not only sanctified within the womb of his mother but that, throughout his childhood and on into adulthood, he remained deeply united to God and was filled with the Holy Spirit.Today we honor one particular aspect of John's life—his birth. We know that he was blessed to not only be born into the blessed family of Elizabeth and Zechariah but that the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, was also his relative and was present at his birth. Zechariah, his father, gave him the name “John” even though it would have been the custom to call him Zechariah after his father. Zechariah did this in obedience to the Archangel Gabriel, who appeared to him prior to John's birth and instructed him to do so.Great mystery and excitement surrounded the birth of John, and there is little doubt that those who were present at his birth would have been caught up in the intrigue and hope of who he would become. And John didn't disappoint. It was of him that Jesus one day would say, “I tell you, among those born of women, no one is greater than John…” (Luke 7:28).Though you may not have had the privilege of being sanctified in the womb of your mother, or to have had your father receive a revelation from the Archangel Gabriel prior to your birth, you are, nonetheless, called to be guided by the hand of the Lord each and every day. God wants you to become “strong in spirit” so that you can fulfill the unique will given to you. We honor the great saints, in part, because they give us an example of how to live. For that reason, we must see in each of their lives the model to which we must conform. The primary witness set by Saint John the Baptist is that he was unwaveringly obedient to God and to being formed by His hand. The result was the glorious fulfillment of his unique mission in life, all the way to giving his life as a martyr. Reflect, today, upon the very real fact that, though you were not sanctified in the womb, you were sanctified by Baptism. From there, you were strengthened by the Spirit through Confirmation and are regularly fed by the Most Holy Eucharist. In many ways, you are just as blessed as John.Reflect upon the simple yet profound fact that God wants to use you for His holy mission. He gives to you some particular mission He has not entrusted to another. Say “Yes” to that mission today so that you, too, will be seen as “great” in the Kingdom of Heaven.Lord of all greatness, You sanctified Saint John the Baptist in the womb, and You continued to pour forth Your grace upon him throughout his life. He responded to You and fulfilled his glorious mission. I thank You for the sanctification given to me by my Baptism and strengthened through Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist. Help me to be open to all the graces You wish to bestow so that I may fulfill the unique mission given to me. Pastor Micah Stephens delivers a dynamic message from Acts 9, exploring the transformative power of the Holy Spirit through Saul's dramatic conversion to Paul. From a zealous persecutor of Christians, Saul becomes a chosen vessel for Christ, illustrating God's ability to redeem even the worst enemies. Pastor Micah contrasts Saul's murderous intent with his radical obedience after encountering Jesus, emphasizing that God's grace turns Satan's plans against him. Drawing from personal anecdotes, like his VBS teaching and family lake trip, he encourages believers to embrace their role as vessels for God's purpose, trusting in His transformative power despite seeming impossibilities. Pastor Micah calls for obedience, urging the church to reject fear and persecution, knowing Christ bears their burdens and uses trials for His glory.Verse References: Acts 9 verses 1–22, Acts 8 verses 1–3, Acts 5 verses 34–39, 1 Corinthians 2 verses 7–8, Hebrews 11 verse 8, 2 Corinthians 5 verse 17, 1 Timothy 1 verses 15–16, 2 Timothy 2 verses 20–21, Genesis 50 verse 20, Acts 9 verse 31, Acts 26 verse 14, Judges 14 verse 4Make sure you subscribe to this channel and follow us on all our platforms to always stay up to date with our latest content! And you can always head over to our website for any general information!https://godspeak.comPrayer/NeedsIf you have any needs, or have a willingness to be used to meet various need in the body, please email info@godspeak.com. Dr Clark continues the series on the Lord's Supper, Nourish and Sustain. This series explores what the Supper is, why it was instituted, how it has been understood in the history of the church, what Scripture says, how we should understand it, and practice it. The Lord's Supper is one of the two sacraments instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ. A sacrament is a sign and seal of Holy Spirit-given benefits. Where baptism is the sign and seal of initiation into Christ-confessing covenant community, the Lord's Supper is the sign and seal of renewal and personal appropriation of the benefits promised in the covenant of grace. Tragically, since the mid-ninth century at least, holy communion, which is intended to bring Christ's people together, has often been a source of division. Perhaps worse, however, for much of the last one hundred fifty years, the Supper has been much neglected among evangelicals. In this episode, Dr. Clark discusses Heinrich Bullinger's Teaching on the Lord's Supper supported from documents such as Consensus Tigurinus  and the Second Helvetic Confession. Jesus is creating a new humanity by breathing the breath of life upon the Church, just as God in the beginning breathed the breath of life upon a pile of dirt to create the first humanity. This breath of life is the Holy Spirit. Our part in all this is to develop a posture of openness and receptivity to God the Holy Spirit. We want to be the kind of people who welcome the Holy Spirit on a regular basis. As Christians we remain open to receive the Holy Spirit primarily for two things: transformation and empowerment.

Romans 1:7-15 — Despite Paul's great power given by the Holy Spirit, the authority given by Christ to preach the gospel to the Gentiles, and his extraordinary experiences, the apostle Paul never put himself up on a pedestal. He expected to pour into the church at Rome, but he also wanted to be encouraged by them as well. As Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones explains in the sermon “The Fellowship of Believers,” this is a glimpse of the doctrine and nature of the Christian church in Romans 1:7–15. Paul's depiction of the communion of the saints is one which consists of fellowship in the Holy Spirit. Neither color of skin, nor social status, nor education matter. What matters to Paul and constituted his desire to fellowship with them was that they were fellow members of the body of Christ. Dr. Lloyd-Jones challenges the human desire to limit fellowship to certain types of Christians – perhaps those Christians found to be most interesting or stimulating. The encouragement from Dr. Lloyd-Jones is to enjoy the fellowship of all Christians. This, he says, is the New Testament understanding of fellowship. Listen as Dr. Lloyd-Jones explains what the apostle Paul found so encouraging about these simple Christians in Rome, and the dangers of contemporary “movements” as they often replace the role of the church in the Christian life. John 5:20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel. The Father shows the Son what He is doing because He loves the Son. Let's pause and think about this reality. We ask, “Has this changed?” I don't think so because Jesus said to His disciples in John 14:12-14. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” The Father still loves the Son and shows Him what He is doing in our lives, so the Son may glorify the Father in our lives. Now let's think along another line. If the Father loves the Son, and the Son lives in us, then we are also loved by the Father and the Son. If one aspect of God's love is to “show all things that He Himself is doing,” shouldn't we expect God to show Jesus in us what He is doing so we can experience and express His love? The passage in John 14 says we should because He went to the Father, meaning, the Father glorifies the Son by sending the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes, both the Father and the Son indwell those who love Jesus and His word (John 14:23). Jesus said, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and my Father will love Him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.” In other words, we become God's house that has many dwelling places, as Jesus said in 14:2. Now, what are the greater works that the Father will show the Son? At the time that Jesus spoke those words, the greatest work of God had not occurred—the redemptive work on the cross, which came about because of the rejection of the Jewish leaders. The Jews, who were questioning him at the time of this story, were fulfilling the Lord's work. This was prophesied in Psalms 118:22-23. “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. This is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.” Today, we should marvel that the Lord has accomplished all that was planned that we might become sons of God, loved by the Father, and participants with the Son as He does the mighty works of God in those who love Him. Isn't it marvelous that we have the privilege of living to love with Jesus and doing the works of God with Him? Indeed, how marvelous! How wonderful is the Savior's love for us. Today, we are the living, God-indwelt, body of Christ on the earth. May the Father show us what He is doing so we can accomplish and prove His will, that which is good, acceptable, and perfect. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry. Would you pray about becoming a regular supporter of Elijah Ministries and the Live to Love with Jesus ministry? This isn't just a metaphor—it's an invitation to intimacy, reverence, and transformation. Darin breaks down the original meaning behind Paul's words to the Corinthian church, and how we too are called to prepare a life that honors God's presence. BBQ Judging, Scythe Harvesting, and Christian MarriageBarbecue Competition Judging: Adam shares his first experience as a barbecue competition judge at a local Catholic church and school fundraiser in Tulsa, where he was joined by his son Jude (assistant judge) and two priests.Judged four categories: chicken, pulled pork, ribs, and brisket (Adam insists brisket is the primary measure; David (wrongly) argues for ribs).12 pit masters competed; judged on appearance, taste, tenderness, texture, uniqueness, and overall (max score 25).Advice from Joe Martin's son: Take one bite per entry to avoid overeating (48 bites total across 40 minutes).Adam judged strictly (e.g., scores as low as 14, zero for appearance), while priests gave higher scores (23–24), highlighting differing standards.Event fostered camaraderie among pit masters (12 hours together) and service to attendees, teaching kids sacrifice, friendship, and craft articulation.Shout-out to Brian Schooley for organizing; Adam and David plan to enter as The Catholic Man Show next year, with Jim in a dunk tank.Main DiscussionWheat Harvest with a ScytheDavid's Experience: David harvested two 45x45-foot wheat plots using a scythe, finding it soothing, peaceful, and in tune with nature despite being exhausting.Quotes Wendell Berry: “The means we use to do our work almost certainly affects the way we look at the world” (via an X account, @minahan8).Compared to last year's sickle (felt “commie”), the scythe was efficient for small-scale farming; not practical for large-scale but satisfying.Kids raked straw (post-harvest, nutritionless due to seeding) for pig bedding or garden mulch; straw vs. hay explained (hay retains nutrition).Adam plans to borrow David's scythe for his own wheat harvest, nervous about back strain.Wendell Berry Reflection: Hosts revisit Berry's essays, appreciating his beautiful, idealistic conclusions but finding his reasoning insufficient (e.g., abandoning tractors would starve people).Compare Berry's idealism to J.R.R. Tolkien and Guardini's Letters at Lake Como; both depict lovely worlds but lack practical solutions for modern challenges.Christian Marriage and Pope Leo XIIIIntroduction to Pope Leo XIII: Adam introduces Pope Leo XIII (1810–1903), a prophetic figure who addressed modernity's challenges (secularism, communism, liberalism) in the late 19th century.Known for Rerum Novarum (1891, Catholic social teaching), reviving Thomism in seminaries (to counter Nietzsche, Hegel, and communism), and engaging modern society. His encyclical Arcanum Divinae Sapientiae (1880) emphasizes Christian marriage as a divine, not secular, institution, foundational to society.Critiqued rise of divorce, moral relativism, and civil interference undermining marriage's sanctity; argued church, not state, holds primary authority over marriage.Marriage as Trinitarian Image: Marriage mirrors the Trinity's relational society, where spousal love is so real it produces a third (child), reflecting Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.Secular view (Enlightenment-era and today) reduces marriage to a consensual contract, ignoring its sacramental, stable, and permanent nature.State has a role in regulating marriage per natural law, but church's supernatural authority supersedes.Ephesians 5 and Mutual SubmissionScriptural Basis: Leo XIII references Ephesians 5 (footnoted), where St. Paul instructs mutual submission out of reverence for Christ, with specific roles: wives submit to husbands, husbands love wives as Christ loved the church.Secular society fixates on “wives submit,” ignoring mutual submission and...

In today's episode—June 20th, 2025—we journey through Second Kings, chapters 4 and 5, Psalm 83, and First Timothy, chapter 2. Host Hunter guides us through powerful stories of miracles, faith, and God's provision. We'll hear about Elisha's compassion as he brings hope to a struggling widow, restores life to a grieving mother's child, purifies a poisoned meal, and heals the mighty Naaman of leprosy. As we reflect on these acts, we see vivid foreshadowings of Christ—the one true Mediator who brings life and reconciliation. Alongside these narratives, we explore prayers from Psalm 83 and mindful instructions from First Timothy on worship, prayer, and living a godly life. Join us as we open our hearts to what the Spirit is saying, seek God's presence in prayer, and are reminded—no matter where we are or what we face—that we are deeply loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: There is only one man who can make things right. The woman of Shunam knew this deep in her soul. In her hour of loss and grief, when her boy had died, she didn't want just anyone—she sought after the man of God. Gehazi, Elisha's servant, or anyone else simply wouldn't do. She believed, against all hope, that somehow this one man could bring her son back to life, could set things right that had gone terribly wrong. And Elisha did something unexpected. He went up to the lifeless boy, stretched himself out face to face, hand to hand, eye to eye over the child. It is as if Elisha was absorbing the death of the boy into himself so that the child could be restored to life. What a powerful image—a man of God bridging the gap between death and life. But this isn't just about one miracle centuries ago. It's a living picture pointing forward to another man who would come and absorb death—not just for one boy, but for the whole world. Jesus, the true Man of God, stepped into our story. He absorbed our sin, our sorrow, our death into himself upon the cross. He defeated death, and with tender care, draws us into his life—face to face, hand to hand, eye to eye. In him, we experience resurrection even now, the beginning of eternal life. Paul, in today's reading, reminds us: “For there is one God and one mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.” Jesus stands alone as the One who can bridge the gap, the only One able to make things right between us and God. His resurrection life is offered to us. His victory over death is our hope, our foundation, our future. May God open our eyes to see that death has been defeated. May we recognize the One who stands before us, calling us into a resurrected life—today and always. That's the prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Almighty and ever loving God you have brought us to the light of a new morning. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit that we may walk this day in peace. Guard our steps from temptation. Shield us from the weight of fear and shame, and lead us deeper into the joy of your presence through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. O Christ, light of the nations, shine in every place where shadows dwell. Call the scattered home, heal the wounds of division and gather all people into the communion of your grace. May the knowledge of the Lord cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. Amen. And our Lord, make my hands ready for mercy. Make my eyes quick to see the hurting, my ears open to the cry of the lonely, and my feet swift. To bring good news. Let me seek to bless, not to be noticed, to serve, not to be praised, to forgive, not to hold back. For in your way is life, in your mercy is healing, and in your love is the peace this world cannot give. Amen. And now, as our Lord has taught us, we are bold to pray. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. Catholic Mom Guilt Is Real, But So Is Grace (Special Podcast Highlight)

Timmere and Catholic parenting coach Catherine Johnson just hit it out of the park with this episode of Trending. If you’re a Catholic mom (or know one!) feeling like you’re barely holding it together, this conversation will feel like a giant, grace-filled exhale. You can listen to the entire episode here! "Catholic mom guilt" is that feeling of never doing enough, especially when we’re comparing ourselves to other moms. But here’s the thing: a lot of us don’t even realize we’re carrying this guilt until it’s quietly wrecking our peace. It’s sneaky. Like spiritual glitter. Compare & Despair: The Catholic Edition Ever see another mom totally crushing it and then suddenly find yourself spiraling into thoughts like: "I don’t pray enough." "My kids don’t know the St. Michael Prayer by heart!" "I forgot to make Zeppole for St. Joseph’s Day... again." You’re probably not called to 6am Angelus with toddlers if you’re 39 weeks pregnant and haven’t slept. And that’s okay. Guilt vs. Conviction: How to Tell the Difference Timmere and Catherine get into a super helpful distinction: Healthy guilt = the Holy Spirit nudging you toward holiness, like "you snapped at your kids, go apologize and confess." Toxic guilt = inner condemnation, "You’re the worst Catholic mom ever, how dare you skip that novena?" If your inner voice sounds more like a bully than Jesus, it’s not from God. When Mom Guilt Turns into Mom Condemnation Another nugget: If you catch yourself being a little judgy toward the moms who are “doing all the things” ... that might actually be your own mom guilt, just wearing a mask. Time to flip the script and get curious: What is it about that other mom’s life that’s triggering something in me? Is it something I admire but am not ready for? Or something that’s just... not my calling? Authenticity Over Perfection Timmere reminds us: your domestic church doesn’t need to look like everyone else’s.Take the things that inspire you and make them your own. Some moms wake up their kids with a bell and pray the Angelus. That’s beautiful. Others pray a morning Hail Mary while surviving the cereal chaos. Also, beautiful. And that “perfect mom” you see on social media? She’s struggling too. Promise. Timmere admitted to losing her patience recently; she apologized to her kids, and later her 4-year-old apologized back. Modeling mercy is one of the most powerful ways we can teach the faith. Let them see you mess up. Let them see you get back up. Practical Takeaways for Catholic Moms Catherine shares two golden nuggets: Learn how the Lord speaks to you: When you can tell His voice from the world’s noise, parenting becomes way more peaceful. Learn to receive mercy: God is gentler with you than you are. Let that sink in. And finally: instead of chasing someone else’s Catholic parenting blueprint, ask: “Lord, how do YOU want me to raise these little saints?” You're Not Called to Be Her. You're Called to Be YOU. This episode was a giant permission slip to drop the guilt, laugh a little, and lean into the grace. You're doing better than you think.

Romans 1:7-15 — The apostle Paul dedicated his ministry to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and making known the glory of God. This singular focus is made clear as Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones preaches “Serving God” from Romans 1:7–15. Paul was not a cultural commentator, nor was he a politician, but he was concerned that what God has done in Jesus Christ be known to all. From this, Dr. Lloyd-Jones argues that the church should imitate Paul with the great doctrines of salvation and of God. Many preachers have lost this focus on biblical truth and use the pulpit as a platform for nothing more than social or political change. He says that this is in contrast to Paul who said that his ministry was to proclaim Christ and Him crucified, not the changing interests of humanity. This is why Paul writes to the Romans, expounding many great teachings, some of which are hard to understand. The church today should not be content to substitute God's word with the mere opinion of people, but they ought to stand firm on the truth of God as given by the Holy Spirit in the writings of the apostles and prophets. For it is only God's word that has the message of salvation. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/603/29

This week on Typology, I sat down with the brilliant and buoyant Margaret Feinberg—author, teacher, and Enneagram 7 with an 8 wing. We talked about her new book, The God You Need to Know, and what it means to experience the Holy Spirit's presence—not just in the highs of life, but in the valleys too. Margaret opened up about facing surgery just before her book launch, navigating the exhaustion that comes with being “on” all the time, and how her joy had to be redefined in the midst of cancer. We also explored how ADHD traits can show up in Enneagram Sevens, what it's like being married to a Type 5, and how learning to rest isn't easy when you live in a world that never slows down. Margaret also offered a fresh perspective on the Holy Spirit—not just in the New Testament, but throughout Scripture. It's a conversation about joy that makes room for sorrow, faith that's been through the fire, and a Spirit who meets us in the mess. As you listen, take a moment to consider: What does true rest look like for you? Has your understanding of the Holy Spirit grown or shifted over time? Can you recall a time when joy and suffering existed side by side in your story?

What does it mean to truly walk by the Spirit? In today’s heartfelt devotional, Annie Yorty shares the touching story of her loyal dog, Misha, whose devotion to her offers a living illustration of what it means to stay close to God’s Spirit. Just as Misha shadowed her every move—never straying far—so too are we invited to abide in the presence of the Holy Spirit, seeking God's will and resting in His love. Drawing from Galatians 5:25, Annie reminds us that walking in step with God is more than a quiet metaphor—it’s a daily, intentional choice to live under the guidance and care of our ever-present Helper. Whether we face distractions, temptations, or spiritual fatigue, the invitation remains: draw near, walk closely, and let the Spirit lead. ✨ Main Takeaways Galatians 5:25 calls believers to actively “keep in step with the Spirit,” implying discipline, intimacy, and direction in daily life. Walking with God means turning away from distractions, temptations, and the lure of the flesh. Staying close to God brings protection, discernment, and peace—just like a loyal pet finds security beside its owner. The Holy Spirit grieves when we drift, but His call to return is always tender and redemptive.

I think that we feel the tension between hope and despair, but I found that a relationship with God and faith in Jesus, make all the difference.” - DawnCheré Wilkerson “It’s in the waiting that I discovered who God is. The intimacy that you feel when you’re desperate for God, knowing that He’s close, knowing that He’s involved in every second, knowing that He’s orchestrating your life; there’s a confidence that we can hold on to. And when we find it in seasons of desperation, we don’t just find it for that moment, we get to carry it for the rest of our life. ” - DawnCheré Wilkerson “In those eight years of infertility, I came to a place where I discovered there is work in this wait. There’s soil for me to dig deep into. There are areas for me to grow, areas for me to prune, areas for me to be outstretched and generous with my life.” - DawnCheré Wilkerson “Hebrews is very clear. Abraham, Sarah, Rahab, Moses… Scripture tells us in Hebrews that they all died still believing in what they had not seen. So if these heroes of the faith, the matriarchs, the patriarchs of our faith, didn’t see all of the promise in this life, why do I think that I will? This is where we get to trust God, but know that this is not the end of the story.” - DawnCheré Wilkerson “I think what life is really about is this long burning fuse attached not to a seasonal outcome of the explosion of God’s faithfulness, but rather to the promise of eternity.” - DawnCheré Wilkerson “We say we’re waiting, but we’re filling the time with a million different things that are really turning down the volume on the voice of God. A lot of my focus in life is how to prune out distractions because I’m prone to pick up so many different things to fill the time while I’m waiting on God.” - DawnCheré Wilkerson “There’s a really heavy leaning on preaching and crafting sermons and getting people in line with exact ‘correct’ theological beliefs, but I think there’s a disconnect between that and actually being pastored. Do people believe what we say because of what we do? I think a lot of younger generations are seeing a disconnect between that, and they want to follow the fruit.” - Erin Hicks Moon “I think we often tend to over complicate things at times. The disciples—we don’t have any record of them arguing about atonement theory or transubstantiation—what we’re mostly left with is just ‘go do the thing. Take care of the people. Tell them about Jesus. Let the Holy Spirit do the Holy Spirit’s work.’” - Erin Hicks Moon “I think if we lean in with a posture of curiosity, it’s one of the avenues through which we love our neighbor as ourselves. I think we want our kids and the people who come after us to have better tools and be more informed to have a fuller faith.” - Erin Hicks Moon “I see prayer as life with God, and I think there are so many ways to be with God. You don’t have to have everything perfectly figured out with God to talk to God, to be with God, and to look for God everywhere.” - Erin Hicks Moon “The goal is being with Jesus and letting Jesus transform you. I would tell you not to be afraid or to try to push past the fear of burning something down, like your faith, because ash is fertilizer and good things will grow again.” - Erin Hicks Moon ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel! However, God's judgment is impartial, and all who choose to live in sin will face the day of wrath. Christians must not take God's kindness, tolerance, and patience so lightly that they choose sin while condemning others. Self-righteousness and hypocrisy lead to condemnation, as God judges based on truth rather than outward appearances. Both Jews and Gentiles are accountable to God. The Gentiles, who did not know the Law, were still accountable to their conscience, while the Jews, who possessed the Law, were judged by it. True righteousness arises from an inner transformation evident in sincere faith, not merely from external practices or specific sectarian affiliations. Circumcised hearts, shaped by the Holy Spirit, will draw praise from God. Pride among the religious can be dangerous. It is easy to see ourselves as superior to others, which leads to two critical errors: taking on the role of judging others and conveniently ignoring our own shortcomings. God shows no partiality. This truth keeps us humble, repentant, and focused on our own need for growth. It helps us develop a better attitude toward others, as we all need Jesus and will answer to Him in judgment. Unfortunately, some believers have been pointing out the sins of others while committing similar sins themselves. Everyone, whether Jew or Gentile, must honor Jesus to be saved. We cannot achieve salvation through the law. Therefore, we must be transformed from the heart to faith.   Righteous Judge, we know You show no partiality. Neither history nor heritage makes us any more deserving of salvation from You. No one can perfectly keep the law, whether it is the law of conscience or the Law of Moses. Unfortunately, some pretend to do so by judging and labeling others as they overlook their own shortcomings. Please God, break our spirit and reshape us in humility if we are committing these sins. Help us to abandon hypocrisy in every form and to allow Your Holy Spirit to circumcise our hearts so that our praise will come from You.   Thought Questions: -       Why do some religious people judge others harshly while committing the same sins secretly? How will God respond to that? -       If God will judge the secrets of men, and He knows all that you do, how should that deeply impact the way you think and live? -       No one will be justified by law-keeping. How is this comforting news to hear? And how can this truth lead us to more faith in Jesus?
