Welcome to Episode 3 of SEC Baseball Weekly with Chris Lee, Alfred Ezman, and Graham Doty, an SEC baseball podcast that discusses the biggest storylines in the conference all year long. We'll cover the biggest/trending topics, featuring fun and interesting guest interviews, season predictions, player and team SEC trivia, and a wide range of various unique segments. Topics include: The SEC is developing some 13 schools represented in the top 100 picks (Missouri, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma are not represented in that, but Oklahoma had John Spikerman in the top 150). Our thoughts on Charlie Condon's future in Colorado. Was Jac Caglianone severely under-drafted to Kansas City at No. 6? NIL is a difference-maker. Top-250 talents who went undrafted include: SS Jalin Flores (Texas), outfielder Chris Stanfield (formerly of Auburn, now at LSU), shortstop Jonathan Vastine (Vanderbilt), 1B Jared Jones (LSU), catcher Luke Heyman and pitcher Pierce Coppola (Florida) and pitcher Eli Jerzembeck (South Carolina). Tennessee had six guys—Christian Moore, Billy Amick, Drew Beam, Chris Burke, Dylan Dreiling and Kavarez Tears taken in the top 150, with Aaron Combs and AJ Causey taken later. Draft surprises include: Alabama's Ben Hess in the first round to the Yankees, Mississippi State's Dakota Jordan's fall to the Giants at pick 134, the number of Mississippi State pitchers who were drafted, including four in the top 10 rounds (something that would have been unthinkable a year ago) and more. Did Ole Miss's run of bad luck continue in the draft, with two arms taken in the draft's last half-dozen picks, including 2022 postseason star Hunter Elliott? Florida got Luke Heyman and Ty Evans through the draft, but will 20th-round pick Colby Shelton return to the Gators or sign with the Nationals? It'll be interesting to see how a pair of talented, but oft-injured pitchers, in Tanner Witt (Texas) and Andrew Dutkanych (Vanderbilt) perform as both were drafted. Draft winners include Tennessee (many players selected, key recruits Tegan Kuhns, Jay Abernathy and Manny Marin got through the draft), LSU (key recruits William Schmidt and Derek Curiel pulled out of the draft, recruits Cade Arrambide, Mavrick Rizy and Michael Ryan went undrafted, plus, players Jared Jones, Chris Stanfield and Paxton Kling were not picked and will presumably return), Florida (the aforementioned players returning, plus, recruits Jackson Barberi and Joshua Whritenour got through the draft) and Vanderbilt (Vastine's return, all recruits except Owen Hall got through the draft). Teams hit hard include Ole Miss and Mississippi State (especially on the pitching end) and Missouri, which saw its only two top-250-rated prospects in high-schoolers Tytus Cissell and Ethan Bagwell. Chris's tot take: Dylan Dreiling will have the best career among all of Tennessee's draftees. 0:00 Intro 1:54 Three Biggest Storylines 20:37 Three Biggest Surprises 34:20 Three Things Worth Noting 49:07 SEC Aftermath Winners & Losers FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA Daily Newsletter: https://se14.substack.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/14Southeastern Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/southeastern14_/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@secsports14 ADVERTISE WITH SOUTHEASTERN 14 Reach out to caroline.smith@southeastern14.com to find out how your product or service can be seen by over 150,000 unique viewers each month!

Welcome to Episode 2 of SEC Baseball Weekly with Chris Lee, Alfred Ezman, and Graham Doty, an SEC baseball podcast that discusses the biggest storylines in the conference all year long. We'll cover the biggest/trending topics, featuring fun and interesting guest interviews, season predictions, player and team SEC trivia, and a wide range of various unique segments. Chris, Alfred, and Graham cover several topics in our second episode of SEC baseball weekly, including: Who's going No. 1? (Charlie Condon, Travis Bazzana, surprise?) It looks like four SEC guys in top 10 (Condon, Jac Caglianone, Hagen Smith, Braden Montgomery). The SEC could add six more current first-rounders (Christian Moore, Jurrangelo Cijintje, Tommy White, Ryan Waldschmidt, Billy Amick, Dakota Jordan). And maybe others (Drew Beam, Bryce Cunningham, Luke Holman, Ben Hess) too. Several more top-100 picks (Blake Burke, Jared Thomas, Ryan Prager, Gage Jump, Carter Holton, Kavares Tears, Cole Messina, Chris Cortez, Gage Miller, Khal Stephen, Colby Shelton, Peyton Stovall). LSU commit Derek Curiel took his name out; he could have gone in the top four rounds. LSU will watch the first round closely as three commits--SS/OF Konnor Griffin, LHP Cam Caminiti, RHP William Schmidt--all get first-round grades. Ole Miss OF commit Slade Caldwell will probably forego college. Texas 2B/SS Theo Gillen and Florida SS Kellon Lindsey are also commits who could see their names called in the first round. Tennessee has at least six commitments who could be picked in the top 250 picks, while LSU could see as many as eight drafted there. The latest transfer portal news, including Jace LaViolette, Justin Lamkin and Caden Sorrell returning to Texas A&M. Texas Tech transfer Gavin Kash commits to Texas A&M, but he's a draft risk. Kennesaw State transfer Tanner Franklin commits to Tennessee, as does Gavin Kilen (Louisville). Clemson transfer Nolan Nawrocki commits to South Carolina. Stetson OF Kyle Jones commits to Florida. Georgia lands pitcher JT Quinn from Ole Miss. Cayden Nicolletto from Columbia College commits to Missouri. Pitcher Logan Lunceford leaves Missouri. Ole Miss lands Rayn Moerman (Illinois), Collin Reuter (BYU) LSU lands pitcher Zac Cowan (Wofford) and outfielder Chris Stanfield (Auburn). Mississippi State lands two-way USC Upstate transfer Noah Sullivan. Texas lands Thomas Burns from Arizona State. And Vanderbilt loses second baseman/DH Cam Kozeal. The College Baseball Showdown field is released, and it includes Texas and Ole Miss, plus Clemson, Louisville, Oklahoma State and Arizona. In June, the Houston Astros College Classic; Tennessee, Mississippi State and Texas A&M will face Oklahoma State, Rice and Arizona. 0:00 Intro 3:20 SEC In The MLB Draft 39:51 Transfer Portal News 51:03 College Baseball Tournament Announcements FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA Daily Newsletter: https://se14.substack.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/14Southeastern Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/southeastern14_/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@secsports14 ADVERTISE WITH SOUTHEASTERN 14 Reach out to caroline.smith@southeastern14.com to find out how your product or service can be seen by over 150,000 unique viewers each month!
Chris Lee previews six NCAA baseball regionals involving Southeastern Conference teams, including: Chapel Hill, where LSU's 1-2 pitching punch of Gage Jump and Luke Holman gives the Tigers a shot to take down North Carolina's power-heavy lineup, led by Vance Honeycutt. Plus, a case as to why this could be the most interesting and competitive region in the field, thanks to Wofford's inclusion. Can Vanderbilt pull a third-straight regional upset of Clemson at Clemson? The Commodores have the pitching with Bryce Cunningham, JD Thompson, and Carter Holton to do it, but will health and consistency allow the Commodores to contain a dangerous Clemson lineup? Can Alabama find enough pitching consistency with Greg Farone and Ben Hess to stop home-run-heavy Florida State (which also has an ace pitcher in Jamie Arnold) in Tallahassee? Oklahoma State is one of the country's most balanced teams and hosts in Stillwater. Does Florida have enough after two-way star Jac Caglianone to challenge the Cowboys (and also get past a tough Nebraska team in its opener?) Mississippi State has enough pitching with Jurrangelo Cijintje and Khal Stephen to challenge Virginia. But the Bulldogs could be doubly-tough if Brooks Auger pitches the way he did in the SEC tournament, and to boot, star pitcher Nate Dohm could be available for the first time in a while. But can the Bulldogs find the better sides of Hunter Hines and Dakota Jordan that have been missing lately to compete with an elite Virginia lineup? All that, plus our regional prediction.
