It finally happened. The Golden Era Committee voted Minnie Miñoso into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Josh and Jim recap the news while taking a look at those that didn't make the call in Dick Allen and Billy Pierce. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
In the third hour, Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel were joined by Score analyst Olin Kreutz to discuss what the Bears offense should look like with Andy Dalton as opposed to Justin Fields starting at quarterback Sunday. And, how should the Bears use rookie offensive tackle Tevin Jenkins in his first game back? Also, Dick Allen, Minnie Minoso and Billy Pierce are among those up for the MLB Hall of Fame via the Golden Days Era vote this Sunday. In this show's opinion, all three should be in ASAP. Then, soundman Chris Tannehill and co-host Herb Lawrence are walking away from their Locked on White Sox podcast, but it's staying in the Score family. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A true maverick of the metrics world, Adam Darowski (Hall of Stats, Sports-Reference, Building the Ballot podcast) joins Brett Ballantini on our 75th program, reviewing four White Sox on the precipice of the Hall of Fame and pulling back to take a look at the processes that have created such a backlog of great candidates. We start with some broad Hall of Fame discussion, then hone in on the four White Sox on the Golden Days Era ballot, with results announced on December 5: The emotion that drove Adam to start Hall of Stats a decade ago, and how some of his anger toward the flawed election process has tempered over time Darowski's preferences: big Hall, small gatekeeping The process and emotions behind the groundbreaking change, led by Seamheads and validated by Baseball-Reference, to officially elevate the Negro Leagues to major status After years of the “unelected till dead” habit of Hall voters, are we on the precipice of a direction change, with the experts making an effort to enshrine living legends? Is it Minnie Miñoso's time to finally shine by being enshrined? It seems a no-brainer, but ... not so fast Adam executes an apropos “Minnie rant” that illustrates how ludicrous it is that the White Sox legend is still not a Hall-of-Famer Worthy of mention: Minnie show-and-tell The most likely White Sox player to get in? Per Adam's gut, it's Dick Allen. Adam also reminds us that DICK ALLEN COULD CRUSH THE BALL Looking at worthiness, not likelihood or any oddsmaking, Darowski tabs Billy Pierce fourth on his ballot. While the great southpaw won't be elected next month, increased awareness of his greatness (e.g., a near-identical regular season career as HOFer Whitey Ford) could bode well for his future immortality And we take a detour to examine the career of Jim Kaat, a brief but tremendous White Sox hurler. His 16 Gold Gloves simply have to be a typo. Through at least one lens, Kaat is the most likely to make the cut this vote. Oh yeah, and during the podcast, we did claim Adam off of waivers, so he will be bringing his punk rock chops to band rehearsal, and ... well, actually, we can't afford him, but we made the claim anyway. Hopefully, we can at least talk again soon! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

On this show tonight we have the Splendid Bobby C returning for a record 3rd time, and making his first appearance on the show is his tag team partner Billy Pierce formerly known as Chris Michaels. I personally believe these two should be tag team champions. Its not an easy task to be part of Team Splendid. A lot of blond sweat and tears go into being Team Splendid. Im sorry did I say blond? I meant blood sweat and tears. wikipedia:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Howard_(baseball)An All-American in basketball at Ohio State, Howard was drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors of the NBA. He instead signed with the Dodgers organization, and after a handful of appearances in 1958 and 1959 he succeeded Carl Furillo as Los Angeles' right fielder in 1960; he was named the Minor League Player of the Year in 1959 by The Sporting News after hitting 43 homers in the Pacific Coast League. He was named the NL's Rookie of the Year after batting .268 with 23 home runs and 77 RBI, and was nicknamed "Hondo" by teammates after a John Wayne film.[citation needed] He belted 98 homers in the following four seasons, most prominently in a 1962 campaign in which he batted .296 with 31 home runs and finished among the NL's top five players in RBI (119) and slugging (.560). He won the NL Player of the Month award in July with .381 average, 12 HR, and an incredible 41 RBI. As an outfielder starting 127 games (completing just 91), Howard was credited with 19 outfield assists (the league leader, Johnny Callison, starting 147 games had just five more). The season ended with the Dodgers and San Francisco Giants tied for first place, necessitating a three-game pennant playoff; Howard had only a single in 11 at-bats and struck out three times against Billy Pierce in the first game, including the final out; but he had a run and an RBI in the second contest, an 8–7 win. The Giants took the pennant in three games, but Howard would later finish ninth in the MVP voting.
Billy “Got Slide” Pierce has released Shapes Of Soul, a collection of 7 originals and 3 classic covers. Billy has been performing with artists such as Charlie Wooten, Sonny Landreth, Johnny Neel and others. He and his band came to the IBC back in 2015 and caused some talk on Beale. Billy and I will talk about his journey and where he is headed tomorrow. Sari Schorr has gotten press in Blues In Britain, Blues Matters & Big City Rhythm & Blues for her dynamic shows. A talented songwriter, her work has been on major labels, but it is now time for Sari to shine and she is doing just that. Her new album is A Force Of Nature and those four words certainly describe Sari Schorr. She and I will talk about her rocket journey. The Charlie Wheeler Band is out of Northern Pennsylvania and the trio is known for its rocking Blues/Southern Rock sound. Blues Karma And The Kitchen Sink is their fourth studio album and it brings the band to new heights. There is some question on whether Charlie has been a guest in the past…but we’ll figure that out as we tell his story and listen to the music. Couch Kid New Music brings Nancy Wright back to The Couch. This incredibly talented sax player has released a new album entitled PLAYDATE! Five of the thirteen songs are originals and Nancy has invited a slew of friends to play along. Nancy and I will talk about the last two years of her career and what she is striving for next, while we listen to tunes from the album.
