In this episode of The Green Book Commentaries Podcast, titled "Innate's Nervous System," we explore BJ Palmer's profound insights on how Innate Intelligence uses the nervous system as a conduit to unite the spiritual and material aspects of mankind. We delve into the idea that Innate Intelligence—our inborn wisdom—flows from above down, inside out, through the nervous system, forming the vital link between the immaterial consciousness and the physical body. Drawing from the Green Books, we also examine the direct brain cell to tissue cell connection, emphasizing the uninterrupted transmission of mental impulses as essential for coordination, adaptation, and life expression. This episode is a deep dive into the sacred anatomy of chiropractic philosophy.
"The adjustment with that extra something" is a saying from BJ Palmer regarding how chiropractors either adjust their practice members as if its a job to do or they adjust them thinking about how far reaching a healthy spine & nerve system will take them!

The nerve system is like a tree; the roots are the brain of the tree, the trunk like the spinal cord, and the branches and leaves like the peripheral nerve system. BJ Palmer was the original brain-based chiropractor, since he was writing this style of thought (or as he would have written, thot), way back in 1910.
Even from 1906, BJ Palmer defined chiropractic as brain and nerve system based, with expectations of working with "all...of the three hundred articulations of the human skeletal frame." Chiropractic and chiropractors are not limited to the spine but use the spine as home base while we 'tune' the nerve system. Listen to this interpretation of BJ Palmer's Science of Chiropractic Volume I
Chiropractic is based on the combination of philosophy, science and art. DD and BJ Palmer's textbooks, commonly known as Green books, are chiropractic's foundation. Each of the 39+ books reflect one or more of the concepts, so Chirocast will spend the next year or so reading brief passages from each book to give you a flavor of chiropractic's relationship with its roots: The Green Books
Ross and guest host Darrin Butters, animator extraordinaire, take a walk through chiropractic's history, including many surprising connections to Scientology. Then we find out what happens when Ross visits a third chiropractor and learns the secret KST diagnosis and treatment method. Plus, what are the potential harms of chiropractic, and where should you actually go when your back hurts? We have social media: X! Facebook! You can add our RSS feed here.
The word momentum is not just for physics...it can also apply to your health. What is the trajectory of the momentum of your health look like? Are you moving towards health or towards sickness and what BJ Palmer and Ralph Stephenson called dis-ease?
In the early 1900s, BJ Palmer, the son of Danielle David (DD), the father of Chiropractic, made Chiropractic specific, scientific, and reproducible for millions of people. Today's Chiropractic principles aren't new; they have given people the innate ability to heal themselves for over 100 years. Wake Up Chiropractors, pure principle Chiropractic is what changes lives. Ross and Carrie explore one of the most popular alternative medicine modalities in the world: chiropractic. Ross, newly bothered by pain in his back and leg, sees the first of three chiropractors, to find out whether “adjusting” his spine will fix what ails him. Plus, Carrie recalls her years-ago chiropractic treatments for migraines. We have social media: X! Facebook!
According to BJ Palmer, the son of the founder of chiropractic, DD Palmer, took health "out of the realms of the accidental field and put the doing into an intentional field." Did DD Palmer realize how big the thing was that he was doing? Probably not at that moment...but now chiropractic is international!

"Stay put", BJ Palmer tells us. "The difference between a big shot & a little shot is that the big shot is a little shot that kept on shooting" (Zig Ziglar). Sometimes in order to solve a problem, the key in the solution is to keep on trying different things until you figure it out. This can be helpful when you are working with kids with Autism who are minimally speaking. Each child has their own 'language', and it will take time to learn how they prefer to communicate.
Come on an epic tale of Chiropractic from the depths of Africa to America and finally England. Then Jon followed in his father's footsteps and opened up a practice of dreams in the middle of Africa, meeting Reggie Gold, serving in the army and then moving to Oxford, England where he is known as a master of SOT and the developer of Cranio Fascial Dynamics.

Our Eclipse party was so fun, not just because we saw a rare astronomical treat, but because we are part of millions of people from around the country, all doing the same thing at the same time! And watching our younger patients who didn't know each other come together and become friends while watching an eclipse was a special moment that reminded me of BJ Palmer's: That Something!
Green Book Series Part 1: Dissecting the best of BJ Palmer's chiropractic philosophy stored in the treasure of his 41 volume Green Book collection. This week's topic is from Bigness of the Fellow Within, page 613: An Afterthought. It is one of the most profound messages referencing the 'why' of chiropractic, what BJ aptly titled, "The Big Idea"
Chiropractic changed in 1907 from a 'start-up' to a contender through the Morikubo case. A young recent grad from Palmer Chiropractic College was jailed in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, accused of 'practicing medicine without a license.' BJ Palmer and his new attorney's came up with the 'Separate and distinct' defense, proving that chiropractic is not medicine and masterminding the first chiropractic victory, thereby paving the way for chiropractic's future.
Welcome to the latest episode of the Schofield Podcast, where hosts and chiropractic coaches, Dr. Fred and Dr. FJ Schofield, dive deep into the heart of patient care and practice growth. The Schofield duo shares personal experiences of overcoming adversity and how challenges and obstacles have been the building blocks of strength in their professional journeys. They emphasize that, as Disney once said, "a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you" and discuss the importance of learning and moving on, especially in the face of difficulties encountered in practice. Setting the goal of attracting at least 10 new patients a week, Dr. Fred and Dr. FJ stress the crucial role of direction and training in achieving this milestone. They highlight the necessity of training not just the doctors but the entire team, including chiropractic assistants, to create a solid foundation for practice growth. Dr. Fred and Dr. FJ reveal the often-overlooked aspect of training – spending time with the team, reviewing phone interactions, and conducting simulations and role-playing exercises. They assert that this investment in training is where true growth begins, and offices that neglect this crucial step show it in their results. Sharing the example of the art of the New Patient phone call and the impact of frequencies on confidence and energy levels. They stress the significance of seizing every opportunity to get new patients in, especially during critical moments when individuals are in pain and seeking immediate care, and training your team so they know just how to make it happen. "Space, Time, Repetition" is a mantra coined at Schofield seminars, emphasizing the importance of mastering fundamentals for a clear direction. They stress the need for chiropractors to take charge and be in control of the patient experience, balancing consideration for the patient with the authority needed to provide effective care. Dr. Fred shares insights into dealing with challenging patients, likening it to riding a bucking horse – sometimes, it's best to let go. They discuss the difficulty of parting ways with patients or even employees who may be hindering practice growth due to their disruptive nature. Throughout the episode, Dr. Fred and Dr. FJ underscore the power of patient education, emphasizing that it's not a one-time occurrence but a repetitive process. They conclude by highlighting the transformative power of education, proclaiming it as the key to empowerment in chiropractic care. Aside from mentioning the words chiropractic and chiropractor, BJ Palmer does not talk about the spine, subluxations or adjustments in this famous quotation. Its focus is on 'impulse', 'force' & 'power'...the nerve system. His father (DD Palmer) said chiropractic is 'founded on tone'. It's all about the nerve system, ever since the start of chiropractic in 1895! (Chapter from BJ Palmer's 'Bigness of the Fellow Within', 1949.

In 1934, BJ Palmer stated: "the only thing permanent is change...progress is evolution....growth is a flight of stairs." When I think about the pursuit of health, the immediate image that comes to mind is bland food pyramids from the FDA, cheesy commercials on TV, and the latest drug to help us curb our gluttony as westerners. Quick fixes and lies is the best description I can give. However, since 1934, and probably even earlier, the observation by Palmer is the most accurate reflection of what it takes to achieve health. Today, I unfold what it means to fight to climb the stairs to health.

"With it, nations rise. Without it, nations fall. This is the biggest idea I know of." So wrote BJ Palmer in his 1949 text, 'The BIgness of the Fellow Within', one of the famed 'Green Books.' Even though its called 'chiropractic philosophy', it is really more than that...it is vitalistic, it is about living life to the fullest because you have and live by a philosophy!
Dr. Nell Williams, wife of Dr. Sid Williams, founder of Life College of Chiropractic, recalls her time at the Palmer School of Chiropractic. She talks about her time with BJ Palmer and the miraculous case of a student with blood poisoning who got well with Chiropractic adjustments alone.
Salutogenesis is one of my favorite words to describe what chiropractic does for those humans who receive it. Whereas pathogenesis looks at how disease occurs, salutogenesis focuses on how health occurs, and chiropractic adjustments (as BJ Palmer said) "add life to years and years to life!"

Awaken to the reason you wanted to become a chiropractor in the first place. Seek the best information you can find on what you want to focus on. Find that source and learn everything you can from it. Control that new information by taking massive action. That is how your life can have 'that extra something.' Title quote from "The Bigness of the Fellow Within" by BJ Palmer, 1949, the Story of That Something.
Masters of Health Magazine just published a very important article that outlines the inspiring 125-year chiropractic journey to Essential. Founded in 1895, the chiropractic industry has been persecuted and slandered from its inception by political medicine. What was behind the slander? Who was the founding doctor and who were the pioneers that held their ground for the good of their patients and communities? The story of chiropractic's journey is extremely relevant today, as people try to make sense of the confusion in the healthcare landscape today. As a practicing chiropractor for 36 years, I am inspired to be able to share this story of principle, perseverance, hope, and leadership with you. Everyone needs to know this story so they can make healthier choices for themselves and their families.
BJ Palmer developed and used this analysis to locate subluxations with greater accuracy than palpation alone could offer.
BJ Palmer asked years ago, "which side of the yellow line are you on?", referring to the double yellow line on a highway. The term diagnosis means "between 2 possibilities." What are you thinking when you examine a child or pregnant momma for the first time? Which side of the line are you on?
How are you describing chiropractic care? If you are talking about how practice members are feeling vs how they are healing, then you have a more pain-based vs. brain-based chiropractic focus. Chiropractic was originally 'founded on tone' (DD Palmer, 1910) and then added the concept of dis-ease, or disharmony/dysfunction of the nerve system (BJ Palmer & Ralph Stephenson, 1927). Our founders had 'the big idea'!
DD Palmer likely adjusted this spinal segment instead of a thoracic segment. BJ Palmer speaks these final words before passing away.
Dr. Sid Williams, founder of Life University College of Chiropractic, recalls his freshman year at the Palmer School of Chiropractic and meeting BJ Palmer for the first time.
Choosing Health is A Commitment to Yourself Jodi Suson of Suson Essentials, struggled with her health for nearly two decades, being misdiagnosed, and overmedicated. She reversed over 21 chronic conditions and lost 92 pounds. She accomplished this by using organic whole foods, nutraceuticals, energy-based healing and essential oils, aka plant-based healing. In this interview with Dr. Brant Hulsebus we learn about his family's legacy within Chiropractic and the strides they made to progress this profession. The Hulsebus legacy started when his grandfather was directed from BJ Palmer to be a Chiropractor in Illinois in 1949. The significance of this is predicated on the fact that it was illegal to practice as a Chiropractor in the state if you did not graduate from a school within Illinois! While evading arrest he carried on Chiropractic as BJ had told him to do and became a political figure for Chiropractic in Illinois. A phrase that stood out that the Hulsebus family used is, "do you support freedom of healthcare choice?" Something we still need desperately to this day! He also shares how Chiropractors and students can get more involved today to progress Chiropractic - check this out!Be sure to follow us on Instagram as well along with our personal profiles:@the_good_fight_ers@dc_nash_t@gatesmaier_dc
