The Grammy-winning author and filmmaker's landmark book, “It Came from Memphis,” has just been reissued in a 25th anniversary revised edition. The cultural collisions between bluesman Furry Lewis, producer Jim Dickinson, Alex Chilton, pro wrestling, photographer Bill Eggleston, fife & drum bands, the Panther Burns, integration, and other disparate elements form a compelling narrative of outsiders, misfits, and rock 'n' roll in this classic chronicle of the subterranean Memphis music scene. Robert believes that if you're not on the edge, you're taking up too much space. He should feel right at home with the Troubled Men. Primary Science & Maths with Libby Foley

Science and mathematics are so fundamental for primary students in getting them ready for high school and Libby Foley has a lot to share about ways to ignite that passion. From teaching in Far North QLD down to the Sunshine Coast, Libby is a true leader when it comes to science and mathematics education for primary kids. Hosted by Ben Newsome from Fizzics Education About Libby Foley Elizabeth (Libby) Foley is a primary school teacher who first started as a Learning Support Teacher at Centenary State High School in 2008. She has supported student learning from Prep to Year 9 and has taught on class from Year 2 to 7. From 2009 until the present, Libby has taught between Northern Peninsula Area State College (Bamaga and Injinoo Campuses) at the tip of Cape York, and Chevallum State School, on the Sunshine Coast. Libby has always had a keen interest in the learning experiences and outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. This was one of the key motivations for Libby in becoming a teacher. In her teaching, Libby is passionate about Mathematics and Science education. She is one of the reSolve Maths by inquiry champions and was the teacher keynote speaker at the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers Biennial Conference in July 2019. She has shared teaching ideas through workshops at the Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers' Early Years Conference, and at the AAMT Biennial Conference. In 2018 Libby was a successful recipient of an Advance Queensland Engaging Science grant and organised STEM-related learning experiences for students at Injinoo Junior Campus in far north Queensland. The main aim of the initiative was to raise the profile of Science and the other interrelated disciplines in the remote context and create a community of learning. Virtual incursions and a teacher PD workshop from Ben Newsome of Fizzics Education inspired and excited teachers and students. The College had visits from A/Prof Hilary Whitehouse and Dr Cliff Jackson from JCU Cairns, who shared their love of science education through hands-on investigations. A mixed kit of digital technologies resources from the CSER Lending Library also enhanced STEM learning. Libby believes it is vital, that as teachers of tomorrow's leaders, we encourage students to notice, question, analyse, evaluate, and become fascinated by the world around us. She hopes that, with a solid foundation on mathematical understanding and skills and a keen aptitude for scientific inquiry, an initial spark of curiosity in students will grow into questioning, exploration and then discovery of a love of STEM learning. About the FizzicsEd Podcast With interviews with leading science educators and STEM thought leaders, this science education podcast is about highlighting different ways of teaching kids within and beyond the classroom. It's not just about educational practice & pedagogy, it's about inspiring new ideas & challenging conventions of how students can learn about their world! https://www.fizzicseducation.com.au/ Know an educator who'd love this STEM podcast episode?  Share it! Power of Vito and Adam Poch (Big Brother 13) are back for another week of Big Brothers. The guys start off admitting that their pre-season prediction were less than stellar, even their week 2 guesses look like shit now. Adam wanted to answer a Twitter question from @MooseShartley about his time in the house and how DR sessions work.   Also Matt and Ali from Hoboken asked Adam about Nick’s Tattoo and we want to know if you think he purposely got it to be made like Taylor Swift or he’s just that clueless. Tweet us your answer @BigBrothersPod https://i.redd.it/08z7jgoyyi731.jpg   This Weeks Topics: Adam’s Big Brother Rankings: Sam is Number One and THREE TOFURKEYS Get Crowned (Nick, Bella and Cliff) Jackson’s Hinky Vote, is it useful or does it just cause un necessary chaos that comes back to bite the person in the ass. Camp Comeback: Will it stick around for more seasons? Does Camp Comeback and Battleback in general impact early game decisions? David’s game: We said he was aloof and naïve pre-season. Where does he stand now? Cliff getting caught with his morning ritual “Cliff Notes”, who else has done this daily talks and how did they not caught. Is Cliff an asset to keep around not knowing people are listening to him. Adam gives a short recap on the dramatic kidnapping of Orwell the owl. Why did Cliff love holding on to it and who was behind the theft. Adam also has a conspiracy about the outcome of the Owl. All we ever want is houseguests here to play a game, even though this people are bad at the game they’re playing. Can we be satisfied with that?

This week's show was originally broadcast June 7, 2009, but if you've just started listening to the show in the intervening four years, it's new to you. Welcome to Glenn Robison's Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can't *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and '30s. Now most of the bands and orchestras that we play on this show have decidedly unimaginative names, generally, the leader's name, and His Orchestra or and His Band. For example, Roger Wolfe Kahn and His Orchestra, Jack Hylton and His Orchestra. Fine bands. Dull names. So, for this edition of the show, I've gone through to try to find records made by bands with more creative or unusual names. Enjoy the show! Here’s the complete playlist: Segment 1: Making Vintage Melody’s Let Me Sing and I'm Happy – Manhattan Melody Makers / Sam Browne Futuristic Rhythm – The Whoopee Makers (Cr. The Grammy-winning author and filmmaker's landmark book, "[It Came from Memphis ](https://therobertgordon.com/books#/it-came-from-memphis-updated-and-revised)," has just been reissued in a 25th anniversary revised edition. Topics include a virtual gala, a swingers convention recap, a new campaign platform, the Hard Rock demo, the Ring Room reopening, a new monolith, the flaw in the grain, a teenage quest, Mudboy and the Neutrons, Randall Lyons, a childhood memory, the N.O.-Memphis-Baltimore axis, Barbarian Records, a rule of thumb, Jack White's Third Man Books, a letter of complaint, the ladies, sage advice, a film career, “The Best of Enemies,” the end of civility, an alternative strategy, “[Stranded in Canton](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1eDzz5fKio),” the Quaalude ‘70s, TeleVista, Pat Rainer, Tav Falco, Lee Baker, ghosts, lessons to learn, and much more.
