Church on the Rockers, Somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 years ago, I went with several of my family members and some friends to the Araneta Colosseum in Cubao, the transportation center of the metroplex that is Manila in the Philippines. We were there with tickets to see Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant live at the Colosseum. It was amazing. I don't actually remember the size of the Araneta Colosseum, but it seemed like a billion Filipinos were there to rock out with two of Contemporary Christian Music's pioneers. Many years later, I brought my oldest child along to relive that experience. Or the closest thing to it; Lincoln Brewster in the Mariner Theater in Homer, Alaska. It was awesome. And VERY loud. Which is what I was hoping for. By the end of the first song, my child was covering her ears. Halfway through the second song, she was over it. Apparently, she is not as enthusiastic about skull crushing bass as I am. This Sunday we are going to talk about music at Church on the Rock Homer. Why do we do corporate worship the way we do it? Why the drums? Why the volume? How do we pick songs? Is there a right and wrong way to worship together as a church? Our elders and staff have contributed significantly to this discussion and I am very excited to bring the results of those discussions to you. It's gonna be a rockin' good time! Pastor Aaron Weisser

-Fr. Rey Hector Paglinawan | Diocese of Cubao
#GPSPodcastCubao There is a district in Quezon City which is visited by those who want to go shopping and are looking for entertainment and leisure. In this episode, we will talk about the history of Cubao before it became a shopping and commercial hub. Where did the name of the district come from?

2021: The year that was in beauty pageants. With the Miss Globe and Miss Intercontinental titles (and a few more) secured by the Philippines, punctuated by Bea Gomez's Top 5 finish at Miss Universe, does the country retain its reputation as the current pageant powerhouse in the world, universe, cosmos, including all outlying star-systems?Aba mga Bes, kasama natin ang not one, but two, verified pageant insiders na sina CJ (Korona Filiipina) at Alexa (Qrown Philippines). Ganyan namin kayo ka-love, mga Badeng! And how do we love thee, mga Bessies, you ask? Let us count the ways. Pinilit namin si Cj at Alexa to spill the beans about inside information, behind-the-scenes tidbits, with matching sideline commentary tungkol sa mga pageant ganaps during the past year. Pilipinas-Internatiional title? And speaking of International, kamusta na si Hannah? What did MUP do differently this year – did they learn from their ‘mistakes' last year? And we bet na hindi niyo pa ‘to naririnig – ang chika ng mga queens, mas mahirap na daw manalo sa local Philippine pageants vs. international pageants! Kalerkee, diba? Andami pa, Bessies! We kiki-ed about Miss Bahrain, this year's Miss Canada – both victims of toxic Pinoy pageant fandom, kung dapat na bang ibalik ang franchise sa Cubao, at kung makakasira ba ang postponement ng Miss World sa pag-alagwa ng chances ng pambato nating si Tracy. May kulang pa ba? If you are a beauty pageant fiend, must-listen-to ang project nato! Dumb Nerds: Comedians Talking About Smart Topics They're Too Dumb For
“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” Today on Dumb Nerds we have on the super hilarious and talented Dhruv Singh (I'm Too Effin’ High, UCB) to talk about one of his heroes, Muhammad Ali. Dhruv talks about why Muhammad was so great and admirable in and out of the boxing ring, how Muhammad stood up for black rights and as a proud Muslim in the 1950s and 1960s when hardly, if any celebrity would. Muhammad Ali wasn't afraid to be himself and be unpopular in a predominant white American society. Today he is popularly looked up to as a hero. Dhurv and Cassi talk about the switch from hated man to a cherished and beloved American icon. They also get into some of Muhammad’s most famous fights like “Rumble in the Jungle” where 32 year old Muhammad Ali took on 25 year old George Foreman, and ended it in the eighth round in Kinshasa, Zaire. There was also “Thrilla in Manilla”, the 1975 fight for the heavyweight championship of the world against Joe Frazier at the Philippine Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines. They also discuss Muhammad's amazing poetic trash talking that influenced rap music today. Even if you boxing isn’t for you, this is an episode you won’t want to miss! Allen is a 30-year old masseur from Pampanga who fights his own battle at the urban zone in Manila. He was 24 when he first worked in a massage parlor in Cubao w/o the awareness how the business really operates. Scarcity of resources is the major reason why he became as masseur. “Mahirap talaga ang buhay sa probinsya at high school lang ang natapos ko” he said. He wanted to earn money for his family when he got married. “How would you describe your work in one word?” I asked. “Fisherman – because just like a fisherman – sometimes there’s abundance and there scarce. “he said with teary-eye. “I am responsible in my own paddle” he added. Allen became famous in a Forum “FR Central “- a portal where-in clients shared common significance - massage. Majority of his clients gave him kudos and positive feedback. “ARTISTA NGA KUMUKUPAS – AKO PA NA MASAHISTA” – he emphasized those words. Upon hearing those words – it made me realized that all of us are created in fairness. There are reasons why Allen entered this kind of job – a job that the society condemned. However, in reality ,this society is also a stakeholder why masseurs exist. And so never judge anybody because in every people’s course of action – there‘s an underlying reason. You just have to open your mind and pay attention to their story. Listen this controversial and emotional episode hosted by Nathan.

Dodgeball Baggage - The Jury is out The Cigar of the Week is the Cruzado Domenicos. From the mind of Dion Giolito, creater of Illusione Cigars, we get to sample his Cruzado line. The Domenicos is a 5 5/8” by 46 ring gauge Corona Gorda (Dion lists it as a Grand Corona in Perlmans) format. You’ll find Cruzado to be a tad lighter in body & flavor than Illusione. The filler is a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan Criollo and Corojo tobaccos. The binder is Nicaraguan and the wrapper is Nicaraguan Criollo (Perlman lists it as a Colorado Maduro). The wrapper shades will run from Cafe Claro to Cafe Rosado. Cruzado cigars are manufactured in the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras and come packaged in wooden boxes with “partial dress” edge wrapping at 20 cigars to the box.
