"I'll come to my deck, too, with more specific questions sometimes, or if I'm going through something and need a little bit of guidance. Dana Cooper, owner of New Paltz's witch and plant shop, Ritualist, is here to talk about all manner of healing tools, and most specifically about utilizing tarot toward wellbeing. Dana shares her own personal journey, as well as the wisdom and knowledge she has accumulated, to help new and experienced tarot readers incorporate this practice in the places it is most needed. We recorded this interview before David had to cancel this tour due to restrictions surrounding Covid-19.David Starr possesses “a compelling voice, something truly special, both accessible and passionate” (Elmore), that has been honed releasing nine albums, touring internationally, and opening shows for esteemed artists such as John Oates (Hall & Oates), Karla Bonoff, The Steel Wheels, Survivor, and more.Beauty And Ruin, Starr's latest project, is a musical and literary adventure, produced and arranged by John Oates and co-produced by himself and David Kalmusky. The collection of songs was inspired by Of What Was, Nothing Is Left, a novel written by his grandfather in 1972. “It is like watching a movie,” says Oates. "The cinematic aural landscape visually evokes a classic tale of tragedy, love gone wrong and an exploration of human nature and all its flaws." Beauty and Ruin and a new edition of Of What Was, Nothing Is Left are set for release in February 2020.“A collection of beautiful, poetic and somewhat sad songs with a warm and organic production that draws you in and wraps around your heart,” writes Americana Highways of Starr's 2018 record, South and West. The record follows an acclaimed EP, The Head and Heart, also produced by John Oates, and the full-length Love and Sabotage with special guests like John Oates, Richie Furay, Dana Cooper, and Steve Cropper.Starr's prestige extends beyond the stage as well, having launched Starr's Guitars in Little Rock in 1998, then relocating to Cedaredge in 2001. Today, the store is such an institution that Cedaredge proclaimed the musician's birthday as David Starr Day in 2016. Starr was also instrumental in the 2018 opening of the Grand Mesa Arts Center, an intimate event space brought to fruition through strong community support in Cedaredge, CO. He helped design the space in order to attract musicians and visual artists to Southwestern Colorado.Starr says of his upcoming Beauty And Ruin project, “This project is important to me for several reasons. There's the family connection through my grandfather's book, the songs that were born out of his story and the intensely collaborative nature of the whole project. I can't wait to share it with the world!”-Text from of David's websiteWebsite- https://www.davidstarrmusic.comFacebook- https://www.facebook.com/DavidStarrMusic/Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/davidstarrmusic/Spotify- https://open.spotify.com/artist/6PJuDsfOF3dpzVpdrUIRw1?si=xFavLr5RQ2S_xvosa_5_SgHavilah will be hosting these events on her own since David Starr will not be coming to Washington. Vampires that will scare you to death. 5 DISTURBING REAL LIFE VAMPIRES In lore and mythology, vampires are fascinating creatures. Hollywood has come to romanticize the idea of their bloodlust. And while many people enjoy the entertainment value vampire stories bring, a few individuals have taken the concept of becoming immortal to extreme levels. These are 5 Disturbing real life vampires. 5. Rod Ferrell In 1995 15-year old, Rod Ferrell, was a disturbed teen. He developed a taste for the macabre, started taking drugs and practiced witchcraft - saturating himself with death, hate, war and pain. After being enamored by a vampire video game, he founded and headed his own "Vampire Clan," claiming himself to be a 500-year old vampire named Vesago. An aspiring member of the vampire clan was 15 year old Heather Wendorf. She had been living in Eustis, Florida when, Ferrell, together with Charity Keese, Scott Anderson and Dana Cooper – who were fellow members – went for a visit. Rod and Heather had been friends for a while and she allegedly told him that her parents were mistreating her. 4. Mercy Brown – The Vampire Child In 1892, tuberculosis or "consumption," swept through many States. Those inflicted would experience severe fevers, cough up blood, experience sunken eyes and deteriorate physically – as if life was being drained from their bodies. The disease became so widespread that people started believing a sinister force was behind it. Residents soon blamed the presence of the "undead" or vampires, especially in areas like Vermont, Rhode Island and Connecticut. 3. Tsutomu Miyazaki Born in Tokyo in1962, Tsutomu was premature and weighed only 4 and a half pounds. He also suffered a birth deformity causing his joints and hands to be fused. As a result, he couldn't bend his wrists upwards and this deformity caused him great embarrassment and distress as he grew older. In elementary school, he was remembered as a bright but quiet student who had trouble making friends. By High school he lost interest in his studies and began to withdraw - collecting graphic porn videos, slasher films and anime. In May1988, his grandfather, who was the only person who ever showed him support, passed away and that’s when his connection to society and the world was severed. 2. Peter Kurten– The Vampire of Dusseldorf Born in 1883 to a dysfunctional and poor family, Peter was the oldest child. His father was a skilled worker but a severe and sadistic alcoholic that would abuse the family family regularly. By 9, he befriended a dogcatcher who would torture the animals he captured. Peter joined him and willingly tortured and killed animals as well and he also claims to have drowned two of his playmates around this time as well. As he grew older, he would engage in sodomy with animals where he found pleasure in stabbing them while engaged in the act. At 16, he ran away and was embroiled in petty crimes, landing him in prison over and over again. 1. (See videos of Jimmy here) The last few years we’ve been in the studio with Jimmy, recording a cut with him on his Jackson Browne Tribute album, and two songs on his most recent album release.  Back in the 80’s my high school best friend and I would take our strings downtown and sit in at the Chicago House open mike frequently hosted by Jimmy Lafave.  Years later I ran into Jimmy at a live KGSR radio tribute to Bob Dylan; from that radio show the first season of  Strings Attached was born. Here are a few songs I arranged for that first show back in 2001:Never is a MomentWhen It Starts to Rain (KUT Radio Appearance)Jimmy LaFave was born in Wills Point, Texas, a small town 30 miles east of Dallas.
