On this month's episode, we're talking Dolph, the post-apocalypse, and zombies! No, we're not taking another look at 2013's Battle of the Damned, but instead Dolph's SECOND foray into zombie territory with 2019's Dead Trigger! Yes, five years after Battle of the Damned, Dolph went back to a similar well and once again took on hordes of zombies! In this adaptation of a popular mobile video game, Lundgren plays Kyle Walker, a hard-nosed mercenary in a near future with a penchant for wasting zombies! Yet even the best of the best can't slay zombies alone, so joining him on this mission is a team of teenage video gamers with just the right skills to ensure that the human race might live to see another day! Joining me to discuss this one is Scott Murphy, host of All 90's Action, All the Time! What exactly went on behind the scenes with this one? In what ways does this play with the standard zombie tropes, and does it manage to do anything new? And just what is up with the ending? Listen in as Scott and I get to the bottom of Dead Trigger! Major thanks to Scott Murphy for joining me! Kyle and the Bestie are together again. And she has a story that is such a nightmare for all of us. She was robbed. She recounts a story of how it felt to have her house broken into, have her valuables stolen, and her cat escape. Later, the conversation turns to the death of Rush Limbaugh. Sarah cites some of his most vile quotes to really paint the picture of who this man was. Kyle and Sarah discuss how we should feel about a man so bent on denigrating others dying. WARNING: This episode contains words used in quotes that are considered extremely offensive to members of the LGBTQ+ community and toward African Americans. We've gotten through our last truly dreadful film this week with Dead Trigger, a paint-by-numbers zombie flick with every trope in the book. But who cares about that, it's after Christmas which means we get to talk about Wonder Woman 1984 and Pixar's Soul, which are much better movies. Also this week we talk about Tom Cruise ripping into crew members on the set of Mission Impossible 7 for breaking COVID-19 protocols, Netflix's announcement of a live action Yu Yu Hakusho series, and MGM offering itself for sale to the tune of $5 billion. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/absentminded/message
Dead Trigger (2019) is a movie about Dolph Lundgren training a bunch of not-soliders to fight zombies, and they all pretty much die as a result. It’s terrible. In the second half we’ve got a lot to catch up on including BJ’s thoughts on Dolemite is My Name (2019), Maki’s rewatch of Watchmen (2009) and […]

In truth, the less said about Dead Trigger, the direct to VOD Doplh Lundgren zombie flick, the better. However, Reanimated couldn’t leave well enough alone and waded in. Don’t be like us.
In our unsettled cultural moment, we're drowning in content - with 49 new movie releases this month alone, from the romantic comedy "Long Shot" to the zombie film "Dead Trigger." What can we know from one year's movies? WNYC's Sara Fishko considers some of the films of another unsettled year - 1959. On this episode I had the pleasure of speaking with Scott Windhauser, writer and director of Dolph Lundgren's upcoming zombie thriller, Dead Trigger. In this film (to be released sometime this year), Lundgren portrays Kyle Walker, a soldier leading a group of rookies against a world overrun by zombies! 2017 was a busy year for Windhauser; in addition to working on this film, Windhauser wrote and directed Cops and Robbers with Michael Jai White and Tom Berenger, as well as writing Rob Cohen's The Hurricane Heist. Windhauser also helped rewrite Dolph Lundgren's Larceny, currently available for streaming on Netflix. What was it like working for Michael Bay? What is Windhauser's approach to writing a script for an action movie? What kind of problems arose in filming Dead Trigger? Is the action genre thriving or struggling in the age of streaming home media? And what projects does Scott Windhauser have lined up for 2019 and beyond? Join us as we answer these questions and many more! Major thanks to Scott Windhauser for chatting with me! Please feel free to rate and review the show on iTunes, Stitcher, or wherever else you subscribe!
Recorded on November 21st, 2012 with Brian Fife, James Fingal and Thomas Westberg. We’ve seen a dramatic shift in the way games are supported on the internet. Early on, gaming guides and magazines, as well as the occasional online FAQ or spoiler guide, were available, but now it’s almost a given that any game with a reasonable fan base has one or more dedicated websites around tricks, tips and strategies. Two of the biggest changes are that site platforms like wikia make it very easy to create these player-supported websites, and it is now common, particularly for large MMOs, to have the data files for the game reverse engineered. So-called “database” websites can provide a comprehensive list of all the items that could appear in the game, before players have discovered them. Jim, Brian and Tom talk about how these changes have impacted the way we play and interact with games. There’s certainly an opportunity for “help sites” to smooth over a rough patch in an otherwise well-designed game, but jumping directly to the loot tables has the ability to take a lot of the discovery and mystery out of a game… is it even possible to design a game with ‘secrets’ anymore?
