In the latest episode of Wise_N_Nerdy podcast, hosts Charles, Joe, and Kurt embarked on an exhilarating journey through the realms of fatherhood and fandom. Kicking off with their trademark camaraderie, the trio delved into the timeless question of the week: "If you could shop for free at one store, which one would you choose?" Amidst laughter and banter, Joe quickly championed Amazon, only to be gently reminded by the rules that it had to be a physical store. Thus, Costco, Brookstone, and the allure of Ikea or DXL took center stage as the chosen shopping paradises. With the roll of the dice, the episode unfolded its unique segments, starting with a chuckle-inducing bad dad joke from CaseyJay about panic attacks. Then, it was time for the enlightening "How do I...?" segment, where the trio shared insights on safeguarding kids in the digital age, navigating the treacherous waters of the internet, and staying vigilant against online risks. As the episode progressed, Joe regaled listeners with tales from the tow truck world, courtesy of Papa Nascar, in the heartwarming "Daddy tell me a story" segment. The enthusiasm peaked with the "What are you Nerding out about?" segment, where Charles delved into the mysteries of AMC's screen unseen and Frozen Empire, while Joe and Kurt fervently expressed their love for My Hero Academia and X-Men '97, respectively. Closing out with the thought-provoking "What do you think about...?" segment, the hosts engaged in a spirited discussion sparked by Charles' reflection on an employee's refusal to perform duties outside their job description, igniting contemplation on professional boundaries and workplace ethics. Through laughter, storytelling, and heartfelt discussions, Wise_N_Nerdy once again proved to be the nexus where Fatherhood Meets Fandom, inviting listeners to embrace their passions and explore the depths of their FAMdom. Actual talent on the No Outlet podcast folks! Sebastian Conelli, host of the "Loud about nothing" podcast was kind enough to answer 20 questions with me and I think we solved a lot of problems! We determined where the best Pizza in NY is, Confirmed that aliens live among us (he may or may not be Annunaki), concluded that comedy doesn't age well...and that's ok, talked about hummingbirds #bestpets, opined on the best rapper of all time (depends), agreed that DXL is closer to "a store" than porn is to "a movie", disagreed about what % of people really use gym memberships, and shit all over Pat Sayjack for his terrible attitude lately among several other topics. Check out his podcast "Loud about nothing" and watch his improv wizardry every Sunday with Ratscraps...he is a very funny human and great guy. Thank you for coming on the show, I hope you all enjoyed the conversation as much as we did!
This week, I had the opportunity to talk to Bob, who has changed his life in more ways than one. Bob has lost 80 pounds, and he's debt-free. But more importantly than those things, Bob is also a new dad, as of the past week as this episode drops. During the episode, we discuss using tracking in multiple areas of life, which ones are our favorites and why we track. We also discuss shopping for clothes as a larger man, changing your financial posture and methods you can use to become debt-free. On top of all this, we also share some of our favorite treats, the age-old question of "how is DXL always dead and yet profitable?", which of our teams will be worse -- The Philadelphia Eagles or The Denver Broncos, and finally we even talk about practice... not the game, but PRACTICE! From growing up in a small Pennsylvania coal mining town, to a volunteer post in Africa – and a successful career in the logistics industry, our guest, Mollie Bailey Haney, has experienced things most people don’t get to see in a lifetime. After completing her degree in liberal arts, Mollie wasn’t ready for a 9-5 job. She heard about some friends’ experiences with the Peace Corps and decided to sign up as an “Integrated Agricultural Volunteer” in Africa. For two years, Mollie worked side-by-side with local farmers in and around Zaire to help them build sustainable ecosystems. Upon her return, Mollie started work at DXL where she learned the shipping business. She later moved to C.H. Robinson and spent 12 years in a variety of senior roles until she was recruited to Transplace, a leading provider of transportation management services, and logistics technology. In this episode, host Linda Rigano talks to Mollie about growing up during devastating economic times for coal miners, how having three brothers prepared her for a male-dominated work environment and how giving back by doing service for villagers in the Central African Republic taught her invaluable life lessons. Mollie shares her experience moving up the ladder in the transportation and logistics industry and how working at Transplace has been an incredibly challenging and enjoyable experience. Mollie also talks about the most important lessons she’s learned along the way, and how you can learn just as much from a bad manager as a good one. Hear Mollie's incredible story for yourself!
