That which we inherit has always been hotly contested — do people deserve blessings they didn't earn? Can anyone truly appreciate something they didn't work for? The wonder of wonders is that God chose us to receive His inheritance — and it will never fade or run out. Today, as we dive into the book of 1 Peter, let's explore God's desires for us to live out.

How Now Shall We Live? 1 Peter 4:7-11Suffering is a catalyst God uses to grow us into Christlikeness so we can bring Him greater glory! The Apostle Peter is writing to a suffering Church in the first century. His words are more relevant than ever to the Church of the 21st century. How Now Shall We Live?1)Live with urgency. 1 Peter 4:7, “But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.”Christ's return is nearer than it has ever been! 2 Peter 3:3-4, 8-9, “knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation'…But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” We should be living with urgency for the things of eternity. Find your “one.” Suffering and crisis create opportunities for gospel conversations!2)Love fervently. 1 Peter 4:8-9, “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for ‘love will cover a multitude of sins.' Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.”The early Christians were living proof of a loving God to a watching world. And the ancient world was changed by what they saw!Emperor Julian wrote in A.D. 362 to pagan priests complaining about the growth of Christianity and blaming it on the Church's “benevolence to strangers, their care for the graves of the dead…it is a disgrace that the impious Galileans [Christians] support not only their own poor but ours as well.”3)Serve sacrificially. 1 Peter 4:10-11, “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”The world kingdoms rise and fall, but the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ will last forever!

Right Thinking, Right Living - 1 Peter 4:1-61 Peter 3:18-19, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, 19 by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison.”1 Peter 4:1-2, Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.To make war on sin demands we arm ourselves with the mind of Him! 1 Peter 1:13, “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”If you don't make your mind a battleground, Satan will make it his playground.2 Corinthians 10:3-5, For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,Right thinking leads to right living. Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”1 Peter 4:1-2, Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.To think like Christ is to think about a cross. To be delivered from sin's penalty, Christ died. To be delivered from sin's power, you die. (See Luke 9:23, Galatians 2:20, 1 Corinthians 15:31, Romans 12:1-2) Romans 12:1-2, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.If you follow Jesus, you will suffer. If you follow sin, you will suffer more. Sin's short-term gratification will one day bring long-term devastation. 1 Peter 4:3-7, “For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 4 In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. 5 They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.”We are living in the end of The End. But the end is only the beginning. Are you ready for eternity?

What To Do When You Suffer1 Peter 3:18-221 Peter 3:18,” For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.”1.Remember the Gospel.“Death used to be an executioner, but the gospel has made him just a gardener.”George Herbert1 Peter 3:19, “by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah.”“A wonderful text is this, and a more obscure passage perhaps than any other in the New Testament, so that I do not know for a certainty just what Peter means.”Martin Luther“Spirits” in the New Testament always refers to nonhuman spiritual beings unless qualified.2 Peter 2:4, For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment. Jude 6, And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.2. Relish in the victory. Colossians 2:15, Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. 1 Peter 3:22, “who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.”Jesus declares his dominance to the demons.1 Peter 3:20-21, “who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”3.Respond to the rescue.1 Peter 3:22, “who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.4.Rejoice in Jesus.

No Fear, Know Freedom - 1 Peter 3:13-17No fear is to know freedom. 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”How do you live in a world that is increasingly hostile toward the Gospel?1) Be Fearless. 1 Peter 3:13-14, And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”God has called us to be more than bleating sheep. He has called us to be roaring lambs! Proverbs 28:1, The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. The gospel should make us bold, courageous, and fearless. Acts 5:29, But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.”Courage is not the absence of fear; it's the absence of self. To the degree you are selfless, you will be fearless.2) Be Focused. 1 Peter 3:15, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.”The way to overcome a cowardly faith is to set your heart apart for God. 1 Peter 3:15, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts…” When you live in the fear of God, you will fear no man.Your level of preparation reveals your level of expectation. 1 Peter 3:15, “…always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you…”3) Be Flawless. 1 Peter 3:16-17, “having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.”The most important part of our Christian witness is not what we say – it's what people see.Philippians 1:27-29, Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake. This world is full of suffering. Choose to suffer because you live for Him instead of living for sin.

Having Healthy Relationships – 1 Peter 3:8-12Humility is essential to have true, biblical community. Humility eliminates rivalry, and mutual submission eliminates competition and fighting for position.1 Peter 3:8-9, Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; 9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.1. Humility leads to relationships lived in unity. 1 Peter 3:8 “Finally, all of you be of one mind…”Being of “one mind” doesn't mean we can't differ on personal convictions and opinions. Being of “one mind” means we are united in our vision and our mission. Being of “one mind” demands we are thinking with the mind of Christ! Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”2. Humility leads to relationships lived compassionately. 1 Peter 3:8 “having compassion one for another…”The Greek word translated as compassion is the same word in English for sympathy. Sympathy is the ability to feel the pain of others.3. Humility leads to relationships lived with loyalty. 1 Peter 3:8 “love as brothers…”Our loyalty comes from being born of the same Father. We are members of the same Family.4. Humility leads to relationships lived graciously and tenderly. 1 Peter 3:8 “be tender hearted, be courteous…”Tender-hearted, courteous people make others the priority.5. Humility leads to relationships lived with forgiveness and mercy. 1 Peter 3:9, “not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit blessing.” We should give away to others the same mercy that God has given us.6. Humility leads to relationships lived with honesty and integrity. 1 Peter 3:10-11, “For he who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.”1 Peter 3:12, “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”Humility is the first step to a right relationship with God. Humility admits God is right and sin is wrong.

If you have your Bibles, would you open them, please, toward the end of the book of First Peter? First Peter chapter number three. We're going to just look at one verse, 1 Peter 3:12: “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers…” I want to focus on that little phrase, “His ears are open unto their prayers.” I want to speak this morning on this subject: “Getting on Praying Ground.” We believe that God hears prayer, but sometimes we wonder, “Is He hearing my prayers?” And that's what we're going to talk about today. Let's pray. Father, bless now this time. Open our hearts and ears to this great, great truth. We don't know how much we really need it. Help us. In Jesus' name, Amen. The first thing emergency workers focus on when there's a major emergency is communication lines. They want to make sure somehow they've contacted the hurting person and they know we're here, we're trying to rescue you. When they did the famous Osama bin Laden raid, the Navy seal told in his book how that when the two helicopters flew off, communications were going between each seal — between the operator, between the base commander. Everyone was talking. There was communication. “Tell me what you see, tell me what's going on there.” They had the video cam, all that communication. Decades ago when I was a young adult, I remember a little girl named Jessica fell down into a well. They looked and looked for her. Finally, they said she's at the bottom of this well. It made worldwide news. “Here's another update. Right now, Jessica, she's still alive. She's alive. She may have broken some bones, but she's still alive.” The first thing they did was lower down a communication line. They said, “Hey little girl, we're trying to get you out. You're not alone. You're going to make it.” They established that communication line. Then they talked about how they tunneled all the way somehow to pull her out alive. So, you say, “Pastor, what's that got to do with me?” God wants to talk to you, and God wants you to talk to Him. It's one of the greatest privileges a Christian has. We're not talking about a famous person, some political person, some actress, some actor, some nationally known person who wants to call. You know, we're talking about the God Who spoke and made the universe — He wants to know you, and He has time to listen to you know. You never get a busy signal. He never unfriends you. He never hangs up on you or changes His number on you. He really wants to know you. We are created with the ability to communicate. You that have children — with a little baby, one of the first things you can't wait to hear is that baby to get old enough to say, “I wuv you.” And you want to hear that. You just do. God makes us with vocal cards. He makes us be able to make sounds. Not only sounds, but He gives us a language. When He made Adam and Eve, the first two people, they knew how to speak. They had a language with vocal cards that allowed them to communicate. They had words that they could understand. They could understand words because God wants communication to be a two-way street. He speaks, we listen. We speak, He listens. What a great privilege! What a great privilege is this thing of prayer! Sometimes, God spoke out loud. Sometimes, God spoke to the heart, Sometimes, He wrote things in the Bible. One thing the disciples asked Jesus when they got around Him for several years — they didn't ask Him, “Teach us how to do miracles,” “Teach us how to multiply a lunch,” “Teach us how to walk on the water,” “Teach us, Jesus, how to raise the dead.” Here's the one thing they asked: “Teach us to pray. We've heard You pray, Master, and that's one thing we admire more than anything else. Would You teach us how to do that?” It's the key to all relationships. Communication. If you have marriage problems right now in this room, there is a communication problem. By the way, if you're married, you got problems. Okay, I'm just going to try to notify you there. Let me say this: If you're getting married, you're about to have problems. Why? Because it's two different people, two different worlds, two different ideas viewing things differently. Communication's the key when you stop talking. Your problems don't get better. When you stop talking to Him, when you stopped listening to Him, your problems don't get any better. He wants us to communicate. Okay, let's vote. How many of you know someone who, the only time you get a text from them or a phone call or they dropped by is when their hand is like this (open, waiting to receive something)? How many of you know someone like that? Come on. All right. Good. For how many of you, they're in this room? I don't know if you're like me, but I hate to see them coming. It's like, “Okay, what do they want now? How much is this going to cost me now? How come they couldn't balance your checkbook? What's going on? What trouble are they in?” And I think if we're not careful, sometimes that's that way we treat God. The only time He ever hears from us is in emergencies. Whenever talk to Him — maybe once a year — I need something. We cry out, “Where are you?” “Well, I've been here a whole year, and you didn't talk to Me.” So, sometimes it is that way. The word “pray” actually means “to ask.” The definition is to ask, but prayer shouldn't always be asking. Sometimes, God just wants us to hang out. Tomorrow night we got that men's fellowship. We're probably not going to be talking about the Bible the whole time. Most guys won't talk at all. It'll be, “All right, you all just pray. Let's eat.” It might just be eating, get back in the car, burp on the way home, and that's it. But sometimes prayer ought to be us bragging on Him. “Hey, good job with the weather. I saw the clouds. Oh, they were awesome, God.” He likes us bragging on Him. He doesn't mind if we're thankful and we thank Him for things. He doesn't mind if we just tell Him how great He is.

Have you ever been lost, unable to find your way home?  There have been moments in the woods when I've been struck with panic because I wasn't sure how I was going to get myself home.  That's not a good feeling.   In this life there are so many ways that we can get lost, and ways that we can lose ourselves.  Peter gives us an impressive list here. It includes concern over our outward beauty, refusal to honor our wives as equal partners in this life, divisiveness and wanting to repay evil for evil, hurt for hurt.  We can land in the ditch of evil and self-focused living without even trying.  The antidote to the self-focused life is a life of humility.  One way to do this is to recognize God's authority in our life.  Peter encourages us to humble ourselves before the Lord.  If we humble ourselves before him he will lift us up.   We submit to his authority.  This chapter begins and ends with the word authority.  When I allow God to have the final say in all areas of my life: my marriage, work, friendship, finances - my life will take on a whole other quality.   Then Peter says to be ready to give an explanation on why our life looks so different.  Be ready to explain to the world why you have His hope within you.  One of your answers will be that you have accepted the Lord's authority in your life.  Your life is not your own. You belong to Him. First Peter 3:22 ends with these words: Now Christ has gone to heaven. He is seated in the place of honor next to God, and all the angels and authorities and powers accept his authority. Each day when we wake up it's our turn to say, once again, Lord, I accept your authority.  Not my will but your will.  I'm ready to follow you today.  I belong to you.  When we humble ourselves daily before him we won't feel lost.  We'll know how to get home.  When we do that we will experience life, hope, grace and peace.  We'll experience him. Are you feeling lost today?  Humble yourself and accept Christ's authority in your life.  That my friend, will be a game-changer.  Daily come to his Word, humbly accepting and submitting to the word of Truth.  It's a Word that will set you free.

His Lead, Her Need, Part 1- 1 Peter 3:1-61 Peter 3:1-2, Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.1) In relationships, humility eliminates rivalry. Mutual submission eliminates competition and fighting for position. The key in marriage is mutual submission (Ephesians 5:21).In marriage, God's desire is for the two to “become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). The husband is the “head” (Ephesians 5:22-24); the wife is the “body” (Ephesians 5:25-28).Mutual submission is when the wife is submitting to her husband's lead, and the husband is submitting to his wife's need. His Lead, Her Need.1 Peter 3:3-4, Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel — rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.2) Men may fall in love with a woman because of her outer beauty, but they stay in love with a woman because of her inner beauty – humility. Ladies, what attracts a man is not what keeps a man!1 Peter 3:5-6, For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.3) God knows one of man's deepest needs is for ADMIRATION, and a woman's is for AFFECTION.Ephesians 5:33, “Let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.” The Marriage Cycle to “keep that lovin' feelin'”The wife gives ADMIRATIONThe husband gives AFFECTION

Being a Contagious Christian - 1 Peter 2:18-251 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”1 Peter 2:11, “Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul.”What makes the Church relevant is that we are different. When we quit being different, we cease being relevant. The Scripture calls us “foreigners” and “strangers”—we are in the world but not of the world.1 Peter 2:12, “having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.”Contagious Christianity is when people might hate what we say, they still love what they see. It's having the right “position” with the right “disposition.”Contagious Christianity is found in humility and submission in an age of “rights” and rebellion. Peter specifically says we are to be different in our attitude toward civil authority and workplace authority. (See 1 Peter 2:13-14, 18-20)1 Peter 2:18-20, Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh. For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.Your vocation is your place of mission; it might also be a place of persecution.Christ suffered, and as Christians, we are called to suffer like Christ. 1 Peter 2:21, “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.”1)   Be willing to suffer in innocence. 1 Peter 2:22, “Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth.”2)  Be willing to suffer in silence. 1 Peter 2:23, “who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously.”Isaiah 53:7, He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.3)  Be willing to suffer for others. 1 Peter 2:24-25, “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”You can bear the pain of others' sin because Jesus bore the pain of yours.

Be offensively attractive. To be offensive, it takes courage. To be attractive, it takes compassion.1 Peter 2:13-16, “Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men – as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.3. Be submissively free.Romans 13:1-2, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.”Acts 5:29, But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.”To be submissive, it takes humility. To be free, it takes responsibility.1 Peter 2:17, Honor all people. The letter of First Peter opens & closes with salutations appropriate for the encouragement of a body of believers facing trying times (1:2b) “...may grace and peace be multiplied to you” (5:14b) “...peace to all of you who are in Christ.” Other key features reinforce the apostle's purpose in writing. Perhaps the most succinct theme verse of the epistle is found in (4:19) “Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.” This verse providers the imperative/command, the surrounding passages, while the surrounding passages are brimming with reasons we can trust our souls to our Creator. Even as Peter employs the analogy of exile and pilgrimage in addressing outposts of believers in a pagan culture, he continually refers to the absolute certainty gleaned from the word and work of God in salvation. (1:3-5) (18-21) Our imperishable inheritance, (1:23-25) The forever Word of God, (2:6-7) Jesus Christ our cornerstone, (3:21-22) The resurrection & ascension, (5:10-11) The personal and specific intentions of God for His church through suffering. This concluding certainty reference can serve as an outline for the entire book...

Transformation Nation – 1 Peter 2:4-10Like the Old Testament Temple, the New Testament Church is to be God's light to the world. Our bodies individually (1 Corinthians 6:19) and the Church collectively (1 Corinthians 3:16) are now the Temple of God to shine forth the Light of God! 1 Corinthians 3:16, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 6:19, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” 1 Peter 2:4-5, Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament, worshipers brought a sacrifice to a priest at a specific place. In the New Testament, we are the sacrifice, we are the priest, and we are the place! (See 1 Peter 2:5)1 Peter 2:5, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. We individually are “living stones” God has used to build His Church, but Jesus alone is the cornerstone! 1 Peter 2:6, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”Matthew 16:17-18, Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, [petros] and on this rock [petra] I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” 1 Peter 2:7-9, Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,” and “a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.1)  As the Church, we are a chosen generation. In the sense Peter uses the word “generation,” it speaks of a group having come from the same source or same seed — the same family tree. “Generation” speaks of “regeneration” from having been “born again.”2)  As the Church, we are a royal priesthood. Revelation 5:10, He has “made us kings and priests to our God…”3)  As the Church, we are a holy nation. The word Peter uses for nation is “ethnos” as in “ethnic” group. We are part of a holy ethnic group having been born again (1 Peter 1:23) and have become “partakers of a divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4).4)  As the Church, we are God's own special people. The word translated as “special” implies that of ownership or a “personal possession” or “private property.” We are God's personal people and purchased possession.1 Peter 2:9, “…that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”The Church is God's only plan to impact culture, transform communities, and change eternal destinies. Colossians 1:27, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”1 Peter 2:10, “who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”As those who have obtained God's mercy, our purpose is to take God's Son to all people so they too might obtain God's mercy.

The Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-through, the Animation Academy, the Golden Zephyr, and Sorcerer's Workshop have all returned to guests. These attractions were able to return with the social distancing mandate expiring for California, allowing the tighter spaces and indoor areas to accommodate enough guests, allowing them to open. – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ Some changes have come to Avengers Campus since it opened at the resort just over a week ago. Showtimes for the Avengers character encounters have been added to the Disneyland mobile app, in order to allow guests to plan ahead and not wait in the land for hours waiting for the encounters to happen. – https://www.micechat.com/294016-simple-avengers-campus-fixes-on-the-way-showtimes-publish-today/ Some dining changes have come to Avengers Campus. Shawarma Palace has been removed from mobile order all together, more standby capacity was added to Pym Test Kitchen, and mobile orders can only be made inside the land. Previously, some guests could mobile order outside of the area, and then use the order to gain access, but this is no longer allowed. Having guests place orders while already in the area also allows for the mobile order windows to last a lot longer and not be completely full in the morning for the entire day. – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ The Disney Food Blog tested out the WEB Slinger Power Band to see if it was worth the price if you wanted to use it on the attraction. Basically, having a power band will give your web slinging a power up and gain more points, but it doesn't really affect the enjoyment of the attraction, unless you want to get the high score. Guests wanting to be the top of the leader board will need to have one of these to score the highest points possible. Unless topping the leader board is worth $60 to you, then these aren't a must have item. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/11/does-60-really-make-a-difference-on-web-slingers-at-disneys-avengers-campus/ Starting on June 18th, the Toy Story Parking lot will be open for guests again. 1 Peter 1:23, “having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.”Lasting change is not self-reformation but spirit transformation.Only once you've been “born again” inwardly does God begin to change you outwardly. Romans 8:29, “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son…”1 Peter 2:1-3, Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.Everyone begins in spiritual infancy, but God wants us to grow to spiritual maturity. In 1 Peter 2:1-3, God is saying, “Grow up!” Many of God's born-again children live forever as spiritual “toddlers.”How do you grow spiritually?1. Put away childish things.Spiritual immaturity leaves you in a life of mediocrity and inconsistency. 1 Peter 2:1 “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking...”Physical and spiritual growth happen gradually. While your justification happens instantly, your sanctification happens gradually.2. Digest spiritual things.Get into God's Word, so God's Word gets into you! 1 Peter 2:2, “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.”You become what you consume physically and spiritually! God's Word is the spiritual food needed to grow spiritually and to be healthy. Many have a soft “flabby” faith because they eat more of the world's junk “food” than they do Jesus' food! Stop allowing the things of this world to satisfy your soul and dull your hunger for God!3. Take your next step.1 Peter 2:2-3, “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”For God's Word to change your life, it must be practical and experiential—not simply theoretical and intellectual. t. In our society today we are experiencing the cultural agenda to promote unbiblical sexuality and Christians are often challenged by the following tension: how do we reject the practices and cultural agenda of unbiblical sexuality, yet love individuals as God would have us?

Born Again to Be Like Him - 1 Peter 1:17-252 Corinthians 13:5, “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.” Have you been born again? The only kind of Christian is a “bornagain” Christian. 1 Peter 1:23, “having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God who lives and abides forever.”You were born the first time of seed corrupted by sin. You must be born again of Christ's seed to become like Him! Genesis 3:15, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”You need more than a physical birth. You need a spiritual birth! (See John 3:1-7)John 3:1-7, There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.'1 Peter 1:17-20, And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.The new birth was always God's plan even before the world began! Revelation 13:8 says Jesus is “…the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”1 Peter 1:2, “elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.”We are born again to bear His image and become like Him! Romans 8:29, “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son…”1 Peter 1:15-16, “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”Becoming like Christ results in a heart of humility, living a holy life, and loving others fervently. 1 Peter 1:21-22, “who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart.”1 Peter 1:23-25, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because “all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.Today is the day to make certain of your salvation. Have you been born again?

Make It or Break It: Three Ways to Make It Through Suffering1 Peter – 1:10-16“It is doubtful whether God can bless a man greatly until He has hurt him deeply.” ― A.W. TozerHumility is a posture of the heart that submits to God.1 Peter 1:10-12, Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.1. The messagePsalm 119:50, This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life.1 Peter 1:13, Therefore gird up the loins of your mind [ready your mind for action], be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.2. The mentality“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” ~ Charles SwindollHope is the result of placing your faith in what cannot be seen.2 Corinthians 12:9, And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” God doesn't give hypothetical grace for our hypothetical nightmare situation. He only gives us sufficient grace for the situation.1 Peter 1:14-16, As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”3. The mandateDon’t use your suffering as a license to sin.
