News We are getting closer and closer to the Disney 100 celebration and with that the partial opening of Toontown and Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway! A new Toontown sign has been installed at the entrance to the land ahead of it opening later this month. The Disney Parks TikTok account shared the installation online. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/01/mickeys-toontown-sign-returns-with-new-look-ahead-of-land-reopening-at-disneyland/ Splash Mountain hasn't quite begun its transformation into Tiana's Bayou Adventure, but Disney is already working on adding more Princess and the Frog to Disneyland. Tiana's Palace will be the name of the location currently known as the French Market. The menu will expand on many of the current favorites, explore seasonal flavors, and offer some New Orleans classics. To begin the transformation, the French Market and the Mint Julep Bar will be closing on February 17th and reopen later in 2023. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/01/tianas-palace-coming-to-disneyland-park-later-this-year/ Just after last week's podcast, Disney posted the Foodie Guide to Lunar New Year. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/01/disney-eats-foodie-guide-to-lunar-new-year-delights-2023/ Not only did Disney post the Foodie Guide for Lunar New Year, but the Foodie Guide to the Disney 100 Celebration at Disneyland. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/01/disney-eats-foodie-guide-to-disney-100-celebration-at-disneyland-resort/ Along with the food for Lunar New Year, there is also some new merchandise. Among the options are a Lunar New Year Loungefly bag, and Loungefly wallet, but sweatshirts, stationery sets, and more. That and a TON of other merchandise can be seen at the link in our show notes. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/01/15/whats-new-at-disneyland-resort-100th-anniversary-collectibles-and-5-pairs-of-ears/ Last Thursday, Anaheim Ducks Day took over Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure with a lot of events. A cavalcade, player meet and greets, and fan zone were all available to Ducks fans. Maxwell Simkins from the Disney+ show The Mighty Ducks Game Changers appeared with the team. There was some exclusive merchandise that sold out quickly. Some of the activities spilled out into Downtown Disney where there was a DJ, appearances of the Duck's mascot Wild Wing, and a hockey skill shot activity. - https://www.micechat.com/344595-disneyland-update-its-a-wall-world-after-all/ The Orange County Register has some good reporting this week about the downtime on the hottest attraction at the resort has gone up in 2022. Rise of the Resistance, the headliner attraction for Star Wars Galaxy's Edge rose from 80 minutes of downtime a day in 2021 to 122 minutes a day in 2022. Thrill Data metrics provided the data to the Register. - https://www.ocregister.com/2023/01/16/downtime-up-sharply-on-disneylands-450-million-rise-of-the-resistance-ride-data-shows/ We talked about the path between Adventureland and New Orleans Square becoming a dead end while they work on Indiana Jones and the Adventureland Treehouse. The entire path is being worked on not only to replace the entrance to the treehouse but also to re-grade the walkway as well. This is one of the areas of the park that is difficult to navigate with a wheelchair or stroller because of the angle. - https://www.micechat.com/344595-disneyland-update-its-a-wall-world-after-all/ Weeklyteers wanting to board the monorail at the Downtown Disney station may think it is closed with the construction walls up all around it, but it is still open! The area in front of the station is getting some paving work done. To access the station, there is an entrance next to the Pin Traders booth. - https://www.micechat.com/344595-disneyland-update-its-a-wall-world-after-all/ The wild weather in California over the last few days has provided some opportunities to see some things hidden behind scrims at the resort. The one that we were most interested in was the fire damage to the New Orleans Square train station. Both ends of the building show signs of fire damage. Railroad Cast Members reported that some equipment in the building that operates the station lights was damaged, so they are using radios at the moment. This means that only two trains, instead of three, can run at a time. - https://www.micechat.com/344595-disneyland-update-its-a-wall-world-after-all/ Discussion Topic Skipper Freddy – https://www.freddymartin.net Poverty Encounter – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWm2AzN0JFI Themed Attraction Podcast – https://www.themedattraction.com/themed-attraction-podcast/ Backside of Water – https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-backside-of-water-a-disneyland-history-podcast/id1003822031 Instagram: skipperfreddy – https://www.instagram.com/skipperfreddy/ Indiana Jones Steals Aladdin's Lamp – https://www.instagram.com/reel/CgHjnyHFNyU/

Starting February 4th, guests with the ability to park hop will be able to switch parks at 11am, instead of the current 1pm time. More dates have been added to the calendar at the $104 ticket level, bringing it up to nearly two months of days at the lowest ticket price. Throughout the Disney100 celebration, digital attraction photos will be complimentary starting February 4th. This is limited to digital attraction photos only. Also announced were more opportunities to join the Magic Key program throughout 2023 as pass inventory becomes available. For all the details, check out the link in our show notes. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/01/disneyland-resort-announces-new-updates-to-offer-guests-more-value-and-flexibility/ The closest location to get food in the esplanade abruptly closed this week. La Brea Bakery announced the closure of the Downtown Disney and all other non-airport locations to focus on their partnerships with distributing their baked goods. The location will make room for a temporary tenant before being demoed and becoming the location for the Porto's that was announced back at the D23 Expo in September. - https://www.ocregister.com/2023/01/09/la-brea-bakery-abruptly-closes-at-downtown-disney-after-two-decades/ Fans of great tasting, inexpensive food can now rejoice! Earl of Sandwich, the sandwich shop that was torn down with the rest of the AMC theater complex has announced its return. In the near term, it will be moving into the La Brea Bakery location, adding a sit-down option until a new location is built elsewhere in Downtown Disney, likely on the west side where construction is happening now. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/01/downtown-disney-district-welcomes-back-earl-of-sandwich-this-february-more-district-updates/ Weeklyteers who like dining in the once highly themed Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen will be sad with the changes coming when it re-opens. Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio will be the new name of the location. Guests who have experienced the new design have found it plain and mostly un-themed. The fully refurbished location should return after a "short time" according to Disney. Din Tai Fung, which was announced at the D23 Expo this year has some new concept art. In the concept art, there is a round bar surrounded by tables for diners to eat at. The new location will be on the west end of Downtown Disney, but no opening date or timeline has been announced. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/01/09/4-major-downtown-disney-restaurant-updates/#more-762543 When Magic Happens returns, there will be a dining package available to guests at the Plaza Inn. The package is available every night, except for Disney After Dark events of April 9, May 13, 14, 29, June 18, July 4, and July 8, 2023. The adult meal is $45 per adult, with the child meal priced at $25 per person. New Disney100 plates, cups, and popcorn boxes have arrived at the resort. The popcorn bucket is shades of purple and white, with the Disney100 logo, with 100 Years of Wonder underneath. The coffee cups are a similar design, with the standard soda cups sporting red along with the purple, sharing the color scheme with Coca-Cola. The paper plates feature the purple design around the edges of the plate, with Disney100, 100 Years of Wonder in the white center where the food goes. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/01/new-disney100-plates-cups-and-popcorn-boxes-debut-at-disneyland/ From now through January 18, Magic Key Holders can pick up a Disney100 print featuring Mickey and Minnie galavanting around Sleeping Beauty Castle. The castle features the decorations for the Disney100 celebration, the fountain, and the swans in the moat. The print by Asia Ellington is distributed in the extended queue for it's a small world every day at 1pm while supplies last back in Fantasyland. If you see a long line, don't be deterred, it moves quickly. - https://www.micechat.com/343892-disneyland-update-mangled-magic-a-soggy-start/ More details have been announced for World of Color - ONE coming to Disney California Adventure later this month. The viewing areas will be accessible through the virtual queueing system in the Disneyland app. A virtual queue reservation is not required, but highly recommended. - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/01/dazzling-details-of-world-of-color-one-at-disney-california-adventure-park-debuting-jan-27/ New Disney100 standard popcorn buckets have arrived as well. In the video, music from the new show and concept artwork and testing for the new show we previewed. https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/12/disneyland-resort-reveals-new-details-for-wondrous-journeys-coming-to-disneyland-park-beginning-jan-27/ In the early morning hours of December 29th, a small fire broke out at the New Orleans Square Station. The fire was contained to the small building on the far right of the station, across the tracks from where guests queue up to board. The water tower next to the building involved does not appear to have been damaged. The train opened with the rest of the park that morning, with scrims already up masking the damage from guests. No word on the cause of the fire yet. https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/12/29/small-fire-confirmed-by-cast-members-at-disneyland-resort/#more-759349 With Lunar New Year just around the corner, Disney has announced the food marketplaces that will be available this year. Returning are Lucky 9 Lantern, Prosperity Bao & Buns, Red Dragon Spice Traders, and Longevity Noodle Co. New this year are Bamboo Blessings, and Wrapped with Love. The booths will serve a variety of Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese foods. Returning for the event is the Sip and Savor Pass. Lunar New Year kicks off on January 20th and runs through February 15th. https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/lunar-new-year-food-marketplaces/ Since the introduction of the Genie+ service, it has been pretty much available to everyone. The service sold out for three days in a row between Christmas and New Year's Eve. The service was even at a higher price point for those days when it sold out. Guests were not completely out of luck, the individual Lightning Lane reservations for Rise of the Resistance and Radiator Springs Racers were still available. If you are planning on going to Disneyland during a busy time of year, make sure to purchase Genie+ early in the day to avoid missing it if it sells out. https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/12/28/genie-sells-out-in-disneyland/#more-758995 This year will bring some new perks to the Magic Key program at Disneyland. New items are coming to the Magic Key Terrace, like Barbeque Short Rib Sliders, and a Mint Julep Cocktail. Key Holders who purchase the Disney100 popcorn bucket will get refills for just $1.50 each through February 12th. A new Disney100 print will be available for pickup, and booking Walt's Main Street Story guided tour between January 9th and January 26th will receive a commemorative button. A Magic Key exclusive Pandora charm will also be available, in addition to new PhotoPass Magic Shots between January 9th and January 19th. https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/12/28/new-perks-announced-for-disneyland-magic-key-holders/#more-758886 At long last, the Indiana Jones Adventure will be getting the TLC it deserves and has sorely needed for quite some time now. A new animatronic snake was spotted by various online sources, which we spotted ourselves when riding the monorail on our December trip. This means that at the very least, we will have a fixed snake in the attraction. Currently, the refurbishment is scheduled to last from January 9th to "Spring, 2023." This is quite the length of time and is a good sign that things will be much better when it returns! https://www.micechat.com/342798-disneyland-update-and-the-verdict-is/ There are some changes coming to a couple of popular stores in Downtown Disney. Wonderground Gallery and the Disney Home store are closing on January 9th and will return with some changes. The rumor for the Wonderground Gallery is that it will be moving to the old ESPN building, which will give it a lot more space and finally do something with the empty building. The Disney Home store then may expand into the Wonderground Gallery space next door. During the closure, much of the merchandise from these stores will be available at other Downtown Disney locations. https://www.micechat.com/343186-disneyland-news-wonderground-gallery-disney-home-set-for-transformation/ New Years Eve at Disneyland was a wet one, but that didn't keep guests away. Disneyland setup some temporary barriers to keep walkways open and separate from fireworks viewing, directional signage to help guests get around in the crowds, and more. For those of you who watched the entertainment on TV through Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve with Ryan Seacrest, you would think that the park was dry and full of famous performers. This was not the case since most of these were pre-recorded. The rain did make for a great light show at midnight to ring in the new year. Other than attraction wait times being very long because of Genie+ reservations, the park was a pretty great place to be. https://www.micechat.com/343222-disneyland-update-dont-let-the-door-hit-you-on-the-way-out/ The Magic Shop on Main Street has been run by Houdini Magic since 2009 but was recently purchased by Vanishing Inc. The new owners are looking to make some changes to the Magic Shop, which current employees of the location are optimistic about. When completed, the store should be more impressive inside and out. https://www.micechat.com/343222-disneyland-update-dont-let-the-door-hit-you-on-the-way-out/ Shortly after the Lunar New Year Celebration wraps up, the Food & Wine Festival will be moving in on March 3rd. No new food booths have been announced this year, but all the booths from last year's celebration should be returning. Just like with the Lunar New Year Celebration, the Sip and Savor Pass will be for sale, offering 8 tabs that can be used at any of the 12 booths. https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/12/29/food-booths-announced-for-2023-food-and-wine-festival-in-disney-california-adventure/ During Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years' Eve with Ryan Seacrest, a short preview was shown of World of Color - ONE coming to Disney California Adventure on January 27th. Encanto, Soul, Mulan, and Pocahontas scenes were shown in the short promo for the celebration. At the very end, there was even a Star Wars section which will be only the second time Star Wars has been in a World of Color show. https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/12/video-first-look-at-world-of-color-one-star-wars-scenes-confirmed/ Discussion Tage and Teresa – Disney Studios and Imagineering

Bob held a Town Hall with Disney employees that was broadcast to the entire company where he answered a lot of questions. Among these were the parks reservation system, which Iger said he had not used and would have to ask Josh D'Amaro about. Overall, the tone was refreshing compared to that of Bob Chapek. – https://www.micechat.com/340927-disneyland-update-follow-the-bouncing-bobs/ If you have been to the parks recently, you may have noticed fewer characters around the parks. Most folks might not notice, since character meet and greets aren't as scheduled as entertainment, but character dining guests do notice. On Sunday morning, no characters were at Goofy's Kitchen for the character breakfast. No word on what is causing the shortages, but we will keep you posted if we hear anything. – https://www.micechat.com/340927-disneyland-update-follow-the-bouncing-bobs/ The Candlelight Processional is just around the corner, so the setup has begun! This year the annual event is on December 3rd and 4th. Some of the elements are already up in the park, with construction walls setup at the Main Street Train Station. Still no word on who the guest speaker will be. – https://www.micechat.com/340927-disneyland-update-follow-the-bouncing-bobs/ Over in ToonTown, a lot of the plants have been installed, but there is still paving yet to be done before the land opens in March of 2023. – https://www.micechat.com/340927-disneyland-update-follow-the-bouncing-bobs/ An interesting thing we noticed looking at the refurbishment calendar was that a number of them are open-ended. The one that we are most excited about is Indy, which is going down again starting January 9th. We hope this is the big one that is sorely needed. The Disney Gallery and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln are also going under on January 9th, most likely in preparation for Disney100 to launch later in January. Also of note is the first refurbishment for Web Slingers. – https://www.micechat.com/340927-disneyland-update-follow-the-bouncing-bobs/ One of our favorite spots along the Rivers of America has wrapped up work and should be open to guests any minute now! The dock across from Big Thunder Mountain has been behind walls and having the deck replaced for months now. As recently as this weekend, chairs and tables have been setup and the walls have come down, but the area was still blocked off to guests. We are excited to enjoy this area again on our next trip. – https://www.micechat.com/340927-disneyland-update-follow-the-bouncing-bobs/ Weeklyteers who love a good Monte Cristo should head to the Magic Key Terrace soon! A new Monte Cristo corndog is now available for $20 and includes two corndogs, a side of garlic waffle fries, covered in cheese and strawberry Thai chili jam, wine port jelly caviar, and berry compote. Most of the inside of the corndog is cheese, and the thai chili isn't spicy at all. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/27/review-we-tried-disneys-exclusive-monte-cristo-corn-dog-should-you/ A reservation isn't required for some of the holiday activities around the resort. Downtown Disney has a large selection of treats, crafts, and unique shopping items. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/11/feel-the-holiday-magic-in-downtown-disney-district-at-disneyland-resort/ Discussion Topic: Producer James Fun

The news happened Sunday evening, while the stock market was closed. Bob Iger sent an email out to all the employees of the company with more information to come. Once the market opened on Monday, the stock has risen 9%. Bob Chapek has left the company and Bob Iger is expected to stay for just 2 years while he works to set someone else up to take over the company. – https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/the-walt-disney-company-board-of-directors-appoints-robert-a-iger-as-chief-executive-officer/ and https://variety.com/2022/biz/news/bob-iger-restructuring-disney-kareem-daniel-exit-1235439263/ We have a date for the opening of Mickey's ToonTown! The full land will open on March 8th — a little over a month after Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway is scheduled to open on January 27th. As a recap, we can expect to see an update to Goofy's House with an interactive playground for kids; a new spot for Donald's Boat playground equipment and video portholes; A re-themed Gadget's Go-Coaster focusing on Chip and Dale; And the return of Mickey and Minne's Houses, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin in addition to dining options at Café Daisy and Good Boy! Grocers. – https://twitter.com/DisneyParks/status/1593620677612998656 We heard this announcement this past Friday, as the park celebrated Mickey & Minnie's 94th Birthday with special buttons handed out at the main entrances and a birthday cavalcade downtown Main Street. The parade featured the Dapper Dans led sing alongs from the Omnibus, the Disneyland Band playing “Happy Birthday” with a bunch of characters, the Mickey and Minnie as the guests of honor before the cavalcade ends with a giant birthday cake for the pair. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Indy is back open after its 3-day refurb, but it's not what we were hoping. MiceChat says many of its major effects are still not working and is in desperate need of a rumored major overhaul. Meanwhile, in DCA Monsters Inc.: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! opened up over the weekend with updated black light effects, fixed projection effects and some new safety features. The outside also got a fresh coat of paint. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Magic Keys were back on sale at Disneyland for a brief time this week. All keys except the Enchant level were open for new sales. Not long after, the Believe key was sold out and the others followed later. Magic Key sales are closed for now. Disney utilized the online queue for new sales like they have done in the past. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/17/disney-has-paused-select-magic-key-pass-sales/ Disneyland is adapting Disney World's latest cancelation policy for dining reservations. That means reservations must be canceled at least 2 hours prior to avoid a $10 per person cancelation fee. DisneyFoodBlog reports Disney saying this does not apply to Downtown Disney District restaurants, the World of Color Dessert Party, the Princess Breakfast Adventure at Napa Rose, and Tomorrowland Skyline Terrace. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/17/update-made-to-dining-reservation-cancelation-policy-for-disneyland/ We are not even past Thanksgiving in the United States, but Disney is already thinking of the Lunar New Year and the California Food and Wine Festival. In 2023, Lunar New Year is starting on January 20th and running through February 15th. For 2023, it is the Year of the Rabit for the Chinese New Year, which symbolizes luck, but the Vietnamese New Year is the Year of the Cat. Two new Lunar New Year marketplaces arrive this year; Bamboo Blessings and Wrapped with Love. The Food and Wine Festival will run from March 3rd through April 25th. With the Food and Wine festival, Soarin' Over California will return once again. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/11/lunar-new-year-celebration-and-disney-california-adventure-food-&-wine-festival-return-in-2023-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ A week after the rest of the resort, the holidays arrived at Downtown Disney and the resort hotels. Trees, nutcrackers, snowmen and more line the streets of the shopping district. Inside the hotels you'll find the annual staples — the Gingerbread house and giant tree in the Grand Californian Lobby, Mid-Century Modern decor adorns the Disneyland Hotel. Though MiceChat is reporting a rumor that this style of holiday decorations will go away next year. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ On November 18th, the Mandalorian and Grogu landed in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland. The duo greeted guests and even interacted with Boba Fett in the land. They should be out and greeting guests every 30 minutes. No news on how long they will be visiting Batuu, so if you are interested in meeting them, get to the parks soon. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/18/photos-and-video-we-met-baby-yoda-in-disneyland/ This past week featured Life Day — the holiday celebration in the Star Wars Universe. You can get a taste of holiday-inspired dishes back in Galaxy's Edge. At Docking Bay 7, you can find Trandoshan-style Past with Braised Bantha — which is a braid beef over Cavatelli pasta with veggies, a zesty avocado sauce, and balsamic glaze. We've heard it's a bit spicy. Or there is a Yobshrmip Mix stew with Swamp Grains — another spicy dish featuring shrimp, sausage, veggies, and rice with a tomato curry sauce. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/20/we-have-one-word-to-describe-these-2-new-disney-snacks-spicy/ Guests who shop early and want to grab their merch on the way out of the park instead of carrying it will now find it at the Disneyland Merchant's Guild, located in the former Guided Tour building next to Disneyland's City Hall. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Discussion: Marceline, MO – https://www.downtownmarceline.org/tour/

This year, the seasonal bucket comes with a special feature: it plays music! Starting November 11th, guests can pick one of these delightful buckets up at the resort. Tony Cabrera of ABC7 News was able to visit “it's a small world” overnight to see the changes taking place to prepare it for “it's a small world holiday.” On his TikTok, he can be seen walking through the flume in the attraction, which has been drained, and alking about the decorations. One interesting piece of information is that the holiday decorations are hidden behind black curtains of the attraction. “it's a small world holiday” opens on November 10th this year. To see the video, check out the link in our show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/10/27/go-behind-the-scenes-of-disneylands-its-a-small-world-holiday-transformation/ January is getting closer and closer and with it the grand opening of Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway! For guests to get to the attraction, some parts of Toon Town need to be completed. Currently, the walkway that leads into the land is nearing completion. This version is glazed in teal. In addition to the tiki mug, the bar closed for two separate mixology classes at 4:4:30 pm and 7 pm. The classes were not officially announced by Disney, but word spread quickly and they sold out. The classes were $202 after tax and gratuity and taught guests how to make the new “Gothic Jungle” coctail and the “Disquieting Metamorphosis” drinks. There were also assorted eats, and one of the tiki mugs were included with the class. – https://www.micechat.com/337739-disneyland-news-the-real-nightmare-before-christmas/ Fans of Star Wars characters Count Dooku and Qui-Gon Jinn will like this next bit of news. When they arrive sometime this fall, front gate cast members will continue to use the iPhones to scan the MagicBand. Also, instead of the fingerprint scan Disney World uses, Disneyland will continue to use photos. – https://www.micechat.com/334644-disneyland-update-fall-ing-scale-ing-plans-derailing/ A big, green, gamma radiated Avenger has started making appearances at Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure. The Hulk, which was previewed and announced to be coming to Avengers Campus, has begun greeting guests in front of the Avengers Headquarters building. What makes this character greeting so unique is the large size! It seems that there are some kinks to be worked out, but that was probably the point of the limited time appearances. – https://twitter.com/Disneyland/status/1573003685298597888?cxt=HHwWgMDTyZCht9QrAAAA and https://www.micechat.com/334644-disneyland-update-fall-ing-scale-ing-plans-derailing/ Donald Duck will be joining popcorn bucket Mickey as a cute Halloween sipper at the park. Donald is dressed in a candy corn costume for Halloween, and is carrying a small trick or treat bucket for treats. The sipper is available for $21.25 at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. – https://www.micechat.com/334644-disneyland-update-fall-ing-scale-ing-plans-derailing/ Donald isn't the only one getting in on the act of dressing up for Halloween and going on sale! Mike Wazowski in a pumpkin costume is the new design for a bottle topper with straw. The topper allows guests to drink from a bottle of soda or water without an open top. The straw allows for the bottle to be held upright as well. The topper is $6.99. – https://www.micechat.com/334644-disneyland-update-fall-ing-scale-ing-plans-derailing/ Mobile ordering is the wave of the future according to Disneyland. Recently, registers were removed from the Emporium and replaced with new merchandise islands. Small mobile checkout podiums are at the exits now to help guests who use the service. – https://www.micechat.com/334644-disneyland-update-fall-ing-scale-ing-plans-derailing/ Weeklyteers who are going to be at the resort soon can take a photo with a new Hocus Pocus 2 photo op in Downtown Disney. The location is a new one for a photo op and is sort of out of the way. It is located between Tortilla Jo's and Splitsville away from the main walkway. If you are a supporter, be sure to join in on the Hocus Pocus 2 watch party this Friday, September 30th at 6pm Pacific. – https://www.micechat.com/334644-disneyland-update-fall-ing-scale-ing-plans-derailing/ If you have been wanting an excuse to stay at a Disneyland Resort Hotel, the current deals might be for you! Next spring, the Magic Happens parade will step off through Disneyland once again. The parade will be part of the 100th Anniversary of the Walt Disney Company in 2023. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/disneyland-resort-announcements-from-d23-expo-2022-and-more/ Not only is Magic Happens returning for the Disney 100 celebration, but new versions of World of Color and the Disneyland fireworks are debuting in the spring. World of Color – One will celebrate the storytelling legacy started by Walt Disney 100 years ago. The show will tell a story of how a single action creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. Wondrous Journeys will be the new Disneyland fireworks show that will have nods to all 60 Walt Disney Animation Studios films to date, and will include more state of the art projection effects on Main Street, it's a small world, and the Rivers of America. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/disneyland-resort-announcements-from-d23-expo-2022-and-more/ The Disney Parks Blog did what Josh D'Amaro didn't do at the D23 Expo last week – they gave us some information on the Magic Bands coming to Disneyland! No exact date was mentioned, but they did confirm that Magic Bands should be at the resort for guests this fall. The Magic Bands will allow guests to get into the parks, redeem Lightning Lane reservations, open Disney Resort Hotel room doors, buy merchandise, link PhotoPass photos, and more. Some of the flashier features include glowing with the nighttime entertainment and adding the ability to play games in the park. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/magicband-features-and-experiences-revealed-for-disneyland-resort-coming-this-fall/ One of the announcements from the D23 Expo last weekend was the new name of the hotel, formerly known as the Paradise Pier Hotel. The Pixar Place Hotel will be the name when the refurbishment is complete. No date on that yet. A Finding Nemo themed splash pad will be coming to the hotel, along with the Southern California team from Great Maple, which will run the restaurant on the first floor, along with other food and beverage locations at the hotel. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/disneyland-resort-announcements-from-d23-expo-2022-and-more/ Princess and the Frog has come to New Orleans Square – long before the retheming of Splash Mountain! Eudora's Chic Boutique featuring Tiana's Gourmet Secrets opened this week and offers Princess and the Frog themed merchandise, cooking supplies, and Tiana's own spices and sauces. Imagineers designed the story of the shop to be owned by Tiana's mother, Eudora. The new shop is just one main space that is pretty small, with walls covered in artwork showing the lives and scenes of New Orleans and Tiana herself! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/09/20/explore-disneys-new-princess-and-the-frog-themed-store-with-us-eudoras-chic-boutique/ Overnight guests at Disney Resort Hotels will have a special experience for Halloween this year. Each hotel will offer trick-or-treating, with a treat map for each hotel with locations handing out complimentary candy. Hotel guests are encouraged to sign up at the front desk of their Disney Resort Hotel. The dates for this are October 28th through 31st. On Halloween night, there will be a costume contest on the Adventure Lawn at the Disneyland Hotel. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/celebrate-halloween-time-in-downtown-disney-district-and-at-the-disneyland-resort-hotels/ Weeklyteers who are interested in attending Grad Nite events at the resort will have to pay a little more this year. The Grad Nite party experience is $99 on weekdays and $104 on weekends, all-dat DCA admission with the Grad Nite party and a parkhopper option is $199 for weekdays and $219 for weekends. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/09/16/disneyland-raises-prices-up-to-22-for-grad-nite-2023/ The painting has wrapped up at the Hollywood Lounge in the Hollwood Pictures Backlot area of Disney California Adventure. The signs have been convered to digital displays, and a new mural has appeared with the lounge's name on the side. The menu has not been updated. – https://www.micechat.com/333927-disneyland-update-halloween-treats-traffic-tricks/ Another patent has been posted that was requested by Disney. This time, it is for a glasses-free VR attraction experience. In basic terms, the new technology would use projections and reflections, much like the Pepper's Ghost effect that we have had in the Haunted Mansion for years now. Of course, just because a patent is filed doesn't mean that it will show up anywhere in the parks soon. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/09/disney-files-patent-for-glasses-free-vr-attraction/ Discussion Topic: Tage and Teresa's Trip to Disneyland and Oogie Boogie Bash Recap

Star View Station will have a mid-century space theme and have areas for seating, device charging, free wi-fi and more. It will be located on the second floor of what is now the Star Wars Launch Bay. This points to the liklihood that a Tomorrowland renovation, if there was one, would not include knocking down this building. – https://www.micechat.com/331420-disneyland-news-fancy-new-dvc-lounge-headed-to-tomorrowland-next-year/ Magic Keyholders have some additional discounts available from September 21st through October 14th. At certain locations around the resort, the merchadise discount has been increased to 30%. For a full list of locations where the higher discount is available, visit Disneyland.com, or the link in our show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/09/01/special-discount-announced-for-magic-key-holders-in-disneyland/ As we reported on previously, some areas around the resort are transitioning to terf and moving away from water-hungry natural grass. Two highly visible areas were just converted and look pretty good. The Haunted Mansion, which just returned in it's holiday form had it's grass replaced, and arguably the most visible grass around the floral Mickey in front of the train station on Main Street has also transitioned to the new terf. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/09/01/disneyland-rolls-out-the-green-carpet-with-more-artificial-turf-around-the-park/ With the return of Halloween Time at Disneyland, the monsters are taking over Mission Breakout once again. Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark is back this year. For those of you who may not know, after 4pm the attraction is taken over by monsters and becomes a little more scary and thrilling. – https://www.micechat.com/324041-disneyland-halloween-time-and-oogie-boogie-bash-guide-2022/ Somehow we had completely passed over what the gingerbread house design was going to be this year in the Haunted Mansion Holiday! This year's design features Lock, Shock, and Barrel, the mistivious trick-or-treaters from Nightmare Before Christmas using a guillatine to cut some cake. – https://www.instagram.com/p/CiDKnZlNREn/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Something new this year for Halloween is the Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade. The cavalcade features a lot of characters, with heroes and villains represented, in their Halloween costumes as they go trick-or-treating down the parade route.  – https://www.micechat.com/331802-disneyland-news-photo-update-everybody-scream/ The villains are really throwing quite a dance party in Tomorrowland each evening. From 7-11pm each night, a DJ will play some spooky tunes while dancers, villains, and guests dance the night away. There is a break from 9:15-10pm during the fireworks to be aware of. – https://www.micechat.com/331802-disneyland-news-photo-update-everybody-scream/ One of the most fun and unique things about getting photos from PhotoPass photographers is the magic shots available. For the Oogie Boogie Bash, there are two new options. Each level of Magic Key will see a price increase from as little as $50, to as much as $200 for the high end key. The Dream Key, which was the top end key when the program started and had no blockout dates has been retired and replaced with a Inspire key, priced at $1599. New perks added to the high level keys include parking discounts, free PhotoPass, and Genie+ discounts. – https://www.micechat.com/330375-disneyland-magic-keys-everything-you-need-to-know/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/ Last week, Disney had their quarterly earnings call and reported some great news for the theme park division. Disney Parks, Experiences and Products reported quarterly revenue of $7.4 billion, up from $4.3 billion a year earlier. Last year, Disney Cruise Line was still shut down and the parks were still recovering, but this is still great news. However, there was one comment that made Disneyland fans upset. They stated that Genie+ and Lightning Lane increased the per capita ticket revenue, “partially offset by an unfavorable attendance mix at Disneyland Resort.” This led to Magic Key holders getting upset online about being unfavorables. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ MagicBand+ hasn't come to Disneyland just yet, but there is already a new interactive game under construction that uses the technology. Batuu Bounty Hunters has already launched in Walt Disney World's version of Batuu, and will launch at Disneyland when the MagicBand+ system launches by the end of the year. The game will require the Play Disney Parks app and a MagicBand+. The MagicBand+ will change colors depending on if you are heading in the right direction and change to purple when the bounty is found. WDWNewToday had a great writeup about the game, which we have linked in the show notes. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/08/star-wars-batuu-bounty-hunters-game-station-is-under-construction-in-disneyland/ and https://wdwnt.com/2022/07/batuu-bounty-hunters-galaxys-edge-magicband/ Weeklyteers who want to know what is going on with ToonTown, we have an update for you. MiceChat has posted some new aerial photos of the work going on back there. Goofy's house has been repainted, the area where the new CarTOONial park will be has been cleared, along with all of the paving in the land. Mickey and Minnie's houses are surrounded by scaffholding and are being repainted, as is the ToonTown mountainside above the neighborhood. – https://www.micechat.com/329376-disneyland-update-part-2-flying-high-over-toontown-construction-sweet-treats/ There was a traffic accident this past week, but it wasn't on any of the loal Anaheim roads, but on the Autopia! Images posted on Instagram show two Autopia vehicles had somehow been driven on top of one of the concrete barriers. This would have been extremely difficult to do by accident as the cars are limited to 5mph. The two vehicles appeared to have been pushed up onto the concrete by colliding into one another. Cast members were unsure how this happened when they came across the scene. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/08/autopia-accident-leaves-ride-vehicles-derailed-and-damaged-at-disneyland/ Some new menu items are coming to a popular eatery in Galaxy's Edge. Docking Bay 7 will have the new menu items starting the day this episode goes live. The items include a new Cold Brew with Taro Topper, which is a nitro cold brew topped with sweet Taro cream. The other item is the Gungan Broth Noodles, which has Roasted Pork, Angel Hair Pasta, Bok Choy, Mushrooms, Yuzu-Tomato Compote, and a Pesto-Tonkatsu Broth. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/08/15/new-menu-additions-coming-soon-to-docking-bay-7-in-disneyland/ We reported a couple weeks ago about a couple of new hand pies at the resort. Now, it seems that they are all over the place and with almost as many varieties as churros, if that is even possible! Guests can get a strawberry hand pie at Candy Palace, Lemon at the Honey Spot, Blueberry at Trolley Treats, Raspberry at Bing Bongs, and Guava at Marceline's in Downtown Disney. Reports online have been extremely favorable to the new line of treats, especially the pastry part. – https://www.micechat.com/329376-disneyland-update-part-2-flying-high-over-toontown-construction-sweet-treats/ Guests have been unhappy with the paper straws in the parks for some time now. Now, there is a new eco-friendly option availalbe at teh Candy Palace on Main Street. The new straw option is an edible straw which comes in three flavors; strawberry, lemon, and lime. Each straw costs $1, and the DIsney Food Blog reports that they don't get mushy like the paper straws. For Weeklyteers who would like to try these at home, Amazon.com also sells the same brand online. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/08/09/yes-we-paid-to-eat-our-straw-at-disneyland/ A shop in New Orleans Square is getting a new mix of products from a different vendor. Mlle. Antoinette's Parfumerie will soon start offering a large collection of the Guerlain fragrances and cosmetics. – https://www.micechat.com/328951-disneyland-update-magic-keys-please-early-morning-magic-halloween-begins/ There still may be a couple weeks of summer left, but Halloween is quickly starting to appear around the resort. The Plaza Point Holiday Shoppe already has Halloween themed items available. The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is currently closed to guests as it transforms into Villains Grove for the Oogie Boogie Bash parties. Main Street and Buena Vista Street window displays are changing over as well.  – https://www.micechat.com/328951-disneyland-update-magic-keys-please-early-morning-magic-halloween-begins/ and https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ Weeklyteers who like to participate in the scavenger hunts should get excited! Pluto's Pumpkin Persuit is coming back this year. Like in previous years, guests can purchase a game board to start hunting for the deorated pumpkins scattered around Downtown Disney. Once all the pupkins have been found, the completed game board can be turned in for a special surpise. Last year it was a choice of plastic sipper. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ Detail oriented guests may have noticed some changes to some grass areas of Main Street recently. Some of the sections have been replaced by artificial terf. Based on the lack of rainfall in California, this might be a good replacement for the greenery. The new terf is almost indistinguishable from real grass and will require less upkeep. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ Fans of the “I Am Groot” series on Disney+ can now get a new magic shot with their favorite baby Groot charater. Guests interested in this magic shot need to head into Avengers Campus and be siure to ask your PhotoPass photographer for this specific shot. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/08/10/disney-just-added-a-baby-groot-magic-shot-in-avengers-campus/ Discussion Topic: Philander – https://www.instagram.com/philanderc85/

Support the podcast by going to https://www.thehubcrawl.com/support. Question 1: MagicBand+ finally came to Disney World last month. Question 2: What is your best or most memorable interaction with a Disney Cast member?  Question 3: Comic Con gave us some details on the next Star Wars series, Andor and The Acolyte. What, if any, upcoming Star Wars projects are you most excited about? Question 4: As Disney-loving adults, we have a lot of nostalgia tied into this company and it's products and theme parks. What is something from your childhood that really helped lock in your love for Disney?  Patreon Bonus Question: What is something that you would divest Disney from? This can be an IP, or a theme park, or an attraction, or a TV studio. Sky is the limit.

Other than the refreshed look and Hank on the surface, not much has been updated. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/07/21/how-disneyland-refurbished-everything-on-finding-nemo-submarine-voyage/ Guests have two more spots in DCA to take a look at wait times — a definite win for people avoiding using the mobile app. The display screens near Spider-man and Radiator Springs Racers are new wait-time monitors for the park's busy attractions, just like the one by Carthay Circle. – https://www.micechat.com/327870-disneyland-update-submarines-dive-as-passholders-wait-to-resubscribe/ The Main Street Electrical Parade may be set to glow away…again…on September 1, but not before one more celebration. On the Esplanade, guests can take in a custom wrapped Honda HR-V in honor of the 50th anniversary of the parade. It's complete with characters, colors and even a giant snail on top. No word on how long this display will be out. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/07/main-street-electrical-parade-50th-anniversary-wrapped-car-parked-in-disneyland-esplanade/ Disney's spooky season is never complete without apperances and merch featuring the Nightmare Before Christmas — and we've got some already. Bones Coffe is collaborating with the Mouse with five unique blends of Coffee. Try Ruff Weather, The Pumpkin King, Mudslide Boogie, Frog's Breath of Santa Jack, available at a link in our show notes. Each bag is priced at $17. – https://www.bonescoffee.com/collections/bones-coffe-x-disneys-tim-burtons-the-nightmare-before-christmas You may have seen Chicago turn its River green for St. Patrick's Day, but guests were surprised to hear the water in the Jungle Cruise went pink! Something happened to cause a daytime cleaning of the rivers, shutting down the ride for some time. Once the color returned to the expected green shades, guests were welcome back aboard. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/07/20/why-disneyland-turned-the-jungle-cruise-river-pink/ Another food service venue is adding mobile ordering. Rancho del Zocalo is swapping half of its ordering space to mobile order pickup. MiceChat says it says it could start up any time this week. – https://www.micechat.com/327870-disneyland-update-submarines-dive-as-passholders-wait-to-resubscribe/ It looks like the paint job on Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen is winding down. Most of the outside features a white color with grey trim. Guests can still see some orange around the balconies, but concept art says that should be going away. – https://www.micechat.com/327870-disneyland-update-submarines-dive-as-passholders-wait-to-resubscribe/ Disney employees have a new option for their education. The Aspire program, which offers 100% paid tuition, now partners with California State University – Fullerton and Fullerton College for in-person classes in addition to the already online options available. 13,000 employees already use the program. – https://www.micechat.com/327818-disneyland-news-3-strikes-youre-out/ Discussion Topic: Legendary Imagineer Terri Hardin https://www.terrihardin.com https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terri_Hardin Terri's Tribe – https://www.patreon.com/TerriHardin/posts
