The news happened Sunday evening, while the stock market was closed. Bob Iger sent an email out to all the employees of the company with more information to come. Once the market opened on Monday, the stock has risen 9%. Bob Chapek has left the company and Bob Iger is expected to stay for just 2 years while he works to set someone else up to take over the company. – https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/the-walt-disney-company-board-of-directors-appoints-robert-a-iger-as-chief-executive-officer/ and https://variety.com/2022/biz/news/bob-iger-restructuring-disney-kareem-daniel-exit-1235439263/ We have a date for the opening of Mickey's ToonTown! The full land will open on March 8th — a little over a month after Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway is scheduled to open on January 27th. As a recap, we can expect to see an update to Goofy's House with an interactive playground for kids; a new spot for Donald's Boat playground equipment and video portholes; A re-themed Gadget's Go-Coaster focusing on Chip and Dale; And the return of Mickey and Minne's Houses, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin in addition to dining options at Café Daisy and Good Boy! Grocers. – https://twitter.com/DisneyParks/status/1593620677612998656 We heard this announcement this past Friday, as the park celebrated Mickey & Minnie's 94th Birthday with special buttons handed out at the main entrances and a birthday cavalcade downtown Main Street. The parade featured the Dapper Dans led sing alongs from the Omnibus, the Disneyland Band playing “Happy Birthday” with a bunch of characters, the Mickey and Minnie as the guests of honor before the cavalcade ends with a giant birthday cake for the pair. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Indy is back open after its 3-day refurb, but it's not what we were hoping. MiceChat says many of its major effects are still not working and is in desperate need of a rumored major overhaul. Meanwhile, in DCA Monsters Inc.: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! opened up over the weekend with updated black light effects, fixed projection effects and some new safety features. The outside also got a fresh coat of paint. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Magic Keys were back on sale at Disneyland for a brief time this week. All keys except the Enchant level were open for new sales. Not long after, the Believe key was sold out and the others followed later. Magic Key sales are closed for now. Disney utilized the online queue for new sales like they have done in the past. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/17/disney-has-paused-select-magic-key-pass-sales/ Disneyland is adapting Disney World's latest cancelation policy for dining reservations. That means reservations must be canceled at least 2 hours prior to avoid a $10 per person cancelation fee. DisneyFoodBlog reports Disney saying this does not apply to Downtown Disney District restaurants, the World of Color Dessert Party, the Princess Breakfast Adventure at Napa Rose, and Tomorrowland Skyline Terrace. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/17/update-made-to-dining-reservation-cancelation-policy-for-disneyland/ We are not even past Thanksgiving in the United States, but Disney is already thinking of the Lunar New Year and the California Food and Wine Festival. In 2023, Lunar New Year is starting on January 20th and running through February 15th. For 2023, it is the Year of the Rabit for the Chinese New Year, which symbolizes luck, but the Vietnamese New Year is the Year of the Cat. Two new Lunar New Year marketplaces arrive this year; Bamboo Blessings and Wrapped with Love. The Food and Wine Festival will run from March 3rd through April 25th. With the Food and Wine festival, Soarin' Over California will return once again. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/11/lunar-new-year-celebration-and-disney-california-adventure-food-&-wine-festival-return-in-2023-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ A week after the rest of the resort, the holidays arrived at Downtown Disney and the resort hotels. Trees, nutcrackers, snowmen and more line the streets of the shopping district. Inside the hotels you'll find the annual staples — the Gingerbread house and giant tree in the Grand Californian Lobby, Mid-Century Modern decor adorns the Disneyland Hotel. Though MiceChat is reporting a rumor that this style of holiday decorations will go away next year. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ On November 18th, the Mandalorian and Grogu landed in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland. The duo greeted guests and even interacted with Boba Fett in the land. They should be out and greeting guests every 30 minutes. No news on how long they will be visiting Batuu, so if you are interested in meeting them, get to the parks soon. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/18/photos-and-video-we-met-baby-yoda-in-disneyland/ This past week featured Life Day — the holiday celebration in the Star Wars Universe. You can get a taste of holiday-inspired dishes back in Galaxy's Edge. At Docking Bay 7, you can find Trandoshan-style Past with Braised Bantha — which is a braid beef over Cavatelli pasta with veggies, a zesty avocado sauce, and balsamic glaze. We've heard it's a bit spicy. Or there is a Yobshrmip Mix stew with Swamp Grains — another spicy dish featuring shrimp, sausage, veggies, and rice with a tomato curry sauce. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/20/we-have-one-word-to-describe-these-2-new-disney-snacks-spicy/ Guests who shop early and want to grab their merch on the way out of the park instead of carrying it will now find it at the Disneyland Merchant's Guild, located in the former Guided Tour building next to Disneyland's City Hall. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Discussion: Marceline, MO – https://www.downtownmarceline.org/tour/

The show will tell a story of how a single action creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. Wondrous Journeys will be the new Disneyland fireworks show that will have nods to all 60 Walt Disney Animation Studios films to date, and will include more state of the art projection effects on Main Street, it's a small world, and the Rivers of America. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/disneyland-resort-announcements-from-d23-expo-2022-and-more/ The Disney Parks Blog did what Josh D'Amaro didn't do at the D23 Expo last week – they gave us some information on the Magic Bands coming to Disneyland! No exact date was mentioned, but they did confirm that Magic Bands should be at the resort for guests this fall. The Magic Bands will allow guests to get into the parks, redeem Lightning Lane reservations, open Disney Resort Hotel room doors, buy merchandise, link PhotoPass photos, and more. Some of the flashier features include glowing with the nighttime entertainment and adding the ability to play games in the park. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/magicband-features-and-experiences-revealed-for-disneyland-resort-coming-this-fall/ One of the announcements from the D23 Expo last weekend was the new name of the hotel, formerly known as the Paradise Pier Hotel. The Pixar Place Hotel will be the name when the refurbishment is complete. No date on that yet. A Finding Nemo themed splash pad will be coming to the hotel, along with the Southern California team from Great Maple, which will run the restaurant on the first floor, along with other food and beverage locations at the hotel. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/disneyland-resort-announcements-from-d23-expo-2022-and-more/ Princess and the Frog has come to New Orleans Square – long before the retheming of Splash Mountain! Imagineers designed the story of the shop to be owned by Tiana's mother, Eudora. The new shop is just one main space that is pretty small, with walls covered in artwork showing the lives and scenes of New Orleans and Tiana herself! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/09/20/explore-disneys-new-princess-and-the-frog-themed-store-with-us-eudoras-chic-boutique/ Overnight guests at Disney Resort Hotels will have a special experience for Halloween this year. Each hotel will offer trick-or-treating, with a treat map for each hotel with locations handing out complimentary candy. This time, it is for a glasses-free VR attraction experience. In basic terms, the new technology would use projections and reflections, much like the Pepper's Ghost effect that we have had in the Haunted Mansion for years now. Of course, just because a patent is filed doesn't mean that it will show up anywhere in the parks soon. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/09/disney-files-patent-for-glasses-free-vr-attraction/ Discussion Topic: Tage and Teresa's Trip to Disneyland and Oogie Boogie Bash Recap

Everything New for Disney Parks and Resorts from D23 Expo 2022 So What's Next for Disney Parks? You won't believe what's coming behind Big Thunder Mountain at Walt Disney World This is Disney's Blue Sky sneak peak of what's coming down the road for Disney Parks. This portion of the D23 Expo had the biggest cheer of anything announced in 2022.First though, Josh D'Amaro announced what's happening with Dinoland at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park. It has been languishing and looks forgotten so the announcement of a big transformation coming was welcome. Zootopia and Moana will share the space currently occupied by Dinoland. But the biggest news of all... Disney Villains are Finally Getting a Place to Call their OwnMagic Kingdom will feature new frontiers and it's all hiding on the other side of BTM. The little town of Santa Cecilia will come to life as Coco gets a Magic Kingdom presence. And if you do want to talk about Bruno, you're in luck because you may be able to walk right into the Madrigal's casita. But all is not fun and flowers in this new land...as what if the Disney villains took up residence there as well...beyond Big Thunder Mountain. This was presented as conceptual and would likely be 10 years down the road, but Disney would not share it in this way if it weren't going to happen. Big news for Walt Disney World and Magic Kingdom. -- There's More Coming to Walt Disney WorldA new nighttime show for EPCOT will debut in late 2023 to kick-off the 100th Anniversary of the Walt Disney Company. Moana's Journey of Water and the rest of the World Celebration area at EPCOT will open in late 2023. So we'll have to bear with those construction walls for another year it seems.Figment is returning in a brand new form for a meet and greet at EPCOT. That will be in place by the end of 2023. In Magic Kingdom, the perennial favorite Hatbox Ghost will materialize once again in the Haunted Mansion. And we now know that Tron Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom will debut in Spring 2023. We were hoping it would be sooner, but apparently they are working on finishing touches right now. No specific date, just "spring." Finally, in 2023, a new version of Happily Ever After will return as part of a new Magic Kingdom nighttime show. This received a good amount of applause. What's New and Coming to Disneyland Resort The DVC Villas at Disneyland Hotel will be called the Villas at Disneyland Hotel. How creative. On October 16, 2023 Disney 100 kicks-off and it promises to be the biggest celebration ever for Disney. Under the theme of a Boundless Future the following announcements were made: The Mandalorian and Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) will be onsite starting in Mid November 2022 at Disneyland Galaxy's Edge Over at the Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure Park, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, noted "we're just getting started." A new giant Hulk will be at Avengers Campus in California "next week." Plus, they're bringing the Multiverse to Avengers Campus. Disney is expanding the campus to include a new attraction. In the new attraction you will battle alongside all the Avengers against all the foes from anywhere. You will fight King Thanos. This is a new Thanos -- a Thanos who won. And the Avengers are not too happy about that and you have to help them. More news to come. Also new to Disney California Adventure, they are reimagining Pacific Wharf into San Fransokyo from Big Hero Six. You'll be able to meet Baymax there. Finally, they are reimagining Paradise Pier Hotel, as it will become Pixar Place Hotel. It will feature a Finding Nemo splash pad and more characters. All in all, Disney promises that the hotel will feel completely new. Over at Downtown Disney more than a dozen new or reimagined locations are in the works. More announcements coming over the next year. But the big news locally is a that SoCal favorite bakery Porto's is coming to Downtown Disney. RunDisney at Disneyland is coming back in 2024. More details coming soon. It's been awhile for Run Disney as the last one took place in 2017. Mickey's ToonTown Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway are coming along. It was good to hear that it will be a slightly different version of Runaway Railway than the WDW edition, to fit into the Disneyland ToonTown story. It's all opening in 2023. Tiana's Bayou Adventure will open in late 2024 in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. The story for the ride is that it picks up where the film (Princess and the Frog) left off. In the new story, Princess Tiana is an entrepreneur and community leader in the year 1927. She is hosting a party for the community and we need to help Tiana to find a special ingredient that she's missing. Disney promises that the latest tech is being implemented to really enhance the outside of the whole area at night. Mist will be used like a painter's canvas. "True bayou magic." The attraction is to be a love letter to New Orleans. Guests should feel the story is authentic to the city. Another great piece of news is that the original cast will be lending their voices to the new attraction. --What's new at Disney Cruise Line The sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet is all about adventure...celebrating Walt's love for exploration. The new Disney Cruise ship is called Disney Treasure. The Disney Wonder is heading to Australia and New Zealand late 2023. The island of Eleuthera and Lighthouse Point will be the new Bahamas port for Disney Cruise. 90% of the power will come from solar. What's Coming to Disney Parks Around the Globe Zootopia is opening at Shanghai Disneyland. World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland will open in the second half of 2023, featuring a Wandering Oaken sleigh coaster. Disneyland Paris' Frozen Arendelle land is coming along and Disneyland Hotel is being fully reimagined -- opening in 2024 At Tokyo Disneyland, Disney Fantasy Spring will feature Peter Pan, Tangled and Frozen. Plus a totally reimagined Space Mountain will open by 2027 at Tokyo Disney. Pixar We Belong Together will be debuting at Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris next year. The DLP 30th Anniversary celebrations will be continuing until September 2023.--Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it. There is no word on when or if they will go back on sale. Speculation online thinks that this is because of the impending lawsuit around reservations and access tied to the Magic Key program. Even more speculation online thinks that the program may get reworked again before going back on sale. Only time will tell. – https://www.micechat.com/323209-disneyland-news-magic-key-locked-new-ca-resident-ticket-offer/ For Weeklyteers who are going to the park and who aren't Magic Keyholders, there is a great ticket deal available! California residents can purchase summer tickets to Disneyland starting as low as $83 per day. The ticket is a 3-day, one park per day ticket for $249 for Monday through Thursday admission, with weekend tickets starting at $299. For $60 more per ticket, park hopping can be added. Tickets are valid for trips from June 3th and September 15th, 2022. Not a bad value to get to see all the nighttime entertainment that has returned. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/31/new-ticket-deal-announced-for-select-disneyland-guests/ Star Wars Celebration was this past weekend across the street from the Disneyland Resort at the Anaheim Convention Center. A lot of Star Wars news was announced, even some parks news! Boba Fett and Fennec Shand were announced to be coming to Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, and then they were there over the weekend. Din Djarin, better known as The Mandalorian, and Grogu, better known as the Child were also announced to be showing up in the area soon. This is a break from the strict timeline that Imagineering has placed on the area, but promise that the characters from the different eras will not interact or be in the same area at the same time. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/13175/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_May_31__June_5_2022#news3 Anyone who has been to Oga's Cantina in Star Wars Galaxys Edge will know DJ Rex spinning tunes for the patrons of the establishment. Soon, guests can listen to some of his tracks on a new album that will be released. No firm date at the moment, but we will keep you updated once we see it online. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/27/videos-dj-r3x-from-disneys-ogas-cantina-is-releasing-an-album/ Signs outside of the Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland tease the return of the combined museum/store/photo op. No word yet on when this will reopen, but Cast Members are stationed outside of the location telling guests it should be returning soon. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ This past weekend, Fantasmic! returned to the Rivers of America to delight guests once again. The projections look clear and bright, the show scenes look fresh, and the show was amazing as always. The best way to get a great seat for the show is to book the River Belle Terrace dining package for $50 per guest, since they are using the same reserved seating area that the Blue Bayou usually uses. Once the Blue Bayou reopens, this area is expected to be shifted to the side more to accommodate the Blue Bayou guests. The Hungry Bear location is across from the Haunted Mansion and offers a side viewing angle for the show. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ June is here, which means that the busy summer season has started at Disneyland. The Disneyland Forever fireworks show will now play nightly with fireworks 7 days a week. During the non-summer and holiday season, Mickey's Mix Magic was played with projections only during the week, with fireworks on the weekends only. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Last week, the most popular attraction in Disney California Adventure had an incident that has caused it to be closed ever since. Video online showed one of the cars on the outside racetrack portion of the attraction stopped and smoking. Though the vehicle never caught fire, the guests in the vehicle were buckled in with smoke coming from the rear. Cast Members did get out to the guests and exit them from the vehicle with no injuries. Disney has closed the attraction to investigate the incident to ensure it won't happen again. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ In Downtown Disney, food trucks have taken up residence by the old ESPN building to help feed hungry guests. These food trucks are expected to be there until at least July 4th. This is a great idea since the Earl of Sandwich is gone and there is a lack of affordable dining options, especially for larger families. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Guests staying at the Paradise Pier Hotel can enjoy one of the hotel amenities again. The pool has finally reopened after a lengthy refurbishment. None of the stores or restaurants are open yet at the location, but it is great to have the pool open so guests don't have to walk over to the Disneyland Hotel to use their pool. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Discussion Topic: DLWeekyl Vault: Former Aladdin a Musical Spectacular Genie Dylan Website – http://www.dylanwhite.com/ Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/itsdylanwhite/ Aladdin a Musical Spectacular Final Performance – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enW48NlXRj4

Downtown Disney will have plenty of entertainment to show off for the event. A 4-piece Polynesian band called Faiva will be performing on Mondays and Wednesdays, The Filharmonic, a 5-piece Filipino a cappella vocal group will perform on Tuesdays, Polynesian dancing and drums will be presented by Tupua on Thursdays and Fridays, and finally Chinese Cultural Splendor will show off martial arts, dance, lion dancing, and more on Saturdays and Sundays. Star Tours is celebrating its 35th anniversary, and to commemorate this, they are releasing some pins on May23rd. There will be a Captain RX-24 pin, which features the current DJ and former pilot, a Lightspeed to Endor pin featuring the Starspeeder, and finally a 45th anniversary Star Wars pin featuring Luke Skywalker on Tattooine. Each pin is $12.99, with a maximum of two per D23 Gold Member. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/new-d23-exclusive-35th-anniversary-star-tours-and-45th-anniversary-star-wars-pins-releasing-on-may-23/ When we were in the parks last week, one of our favorite spectaulars turned 30! Fantasmic! debuted on May 13, 1992 at Disneyland. Over the years, the show has added and subtracted different scenes and elements. Some of those include the 2009 upgrade to digital projection and the current 45-foot tall dragon, known as Murphy! In 2017, new scenes and songs were added including Aladdin. The show has been performed more than 11,000 times since its debut. Fantasmic! returns to the Rivers of America on May 28th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/05/fantasmic-celebrates-30-years-today-and-gears-up-for-spectacular-return-to-disneyland-park-on-may-28/ Last week, Disneyland teased something returning after long last to Disney California Adventure. The Red Car Trolley should be traveling on the tracks on Buena Vista Street and down Hollywood Land. No exact date was mentioned, but it should return before the full swing of summer. Fans of Trader Sams may be excited with updates to the menu at the popular restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel. Takoyaki, which is fried octopus cakes drizzled with unagi and togarashi aioli, and topped with green onions and bonito flakes. This can be purchased for $18 and it also available for order at Tangaroa Terrace. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/15/picky-eaters-beware-octopus-is-now-on-the-menu-at-a-popular-disneyland-spot/ It seems like the only constant in Avengers Campus is change. Yet another character from the Marvel universe will be on site to visit with guests. Ms. Marvel, the title character from the upcoming Disney+ show should be in the land around the time the show premieres on June 8th. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/14/another-new-character-is-coming-to-avengers-campus-at-disneyland-resort/ Next month, Celebrate Soulfully is returning in honor of Black Music Month. The Philly Phonics a cappella group will be performing on the stage in front of Carthay Circle, where the Five and Dime also perform. In Downtown Disney, the former ESPN Zone building will house “The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure. This is a traveling exhibit which features Joe Gardner from Pixar's “Soul” and takes guests through the history of American Jazz. The exhibit will be run from June 1st through July 4th. Admission is free. – https://www.micechat.com/321627-disneyland-update-rise-and-fall-the-rapid-pace-of-change/ Fans of Encanto have another reason to celebrate! Mirabel will be returning to Disney California Adventure for meet and greets at the Paradise Gardens Park. Mirabel was last seen in Frontierland, after originally starting out in DCA at the same location she is now returning to. In addition to meeting Mirabel, guests can also catch the “We Don't Talk About Bruno” projection show on the facade of “it's a small world” every night. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/encanto-mirabel-meet-and-greet-returning-to-paradise-gardens-park-at-disney-california-adventure-soon/ June is just a busy month for celebrations! Members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community celebrate pride every June. With all the controversy about the Florida “don't say gay” bill and Disney, the company has decided from now until June 30th, all profits from any pride merchandise will be donated to LGBTQIA+ organizations. Previously, only a small percentage of the profit went to support LGBTQIA+ youth and families. Weeklyteers can visit the link in the show notes to see what organizations are benefiting from this donation. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/2022-disney-pride-collection-available-at-disneyland-resort-100-of-profits-benefiting-lgbtqia-organizations/ Discussion: Our Disneyland trip before the Disneyana event.
