This week, the Disneyland 70th has officially arrived, we talk about all the new things, a missing feature of Adventureland has returned, an alien has been a menace at Disneyland, changes to the Animation Academy, we talk about our upcoming trip to the parks and other destinations this time, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: The Disneyland 70th finally kicked off on Friday. While the lines for merchandise, 70th experiences, and food were longer than usual, the lines for attractions were very off-season feeling. Rise of the Resistance had a 35 minute standby wait at 4pm, and Space Mountain had a 40 minute wait. – https://www.micechat.com/415359-disneyland-update-celebrate-70-and-build-a-better-tomorrowland/ The 70th castle sculpture in the esplanade revealed an interesting twist this week – it is a music box! At least that is what is sounds like. Different, music box versions of Disney songs play throughout the day for passing guests. – https://www.micechat.com/415359-disneyland-update-celebrate-70-and-build-a-better-tomorrowland/ The new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live show has debuted in the Disney Theatre in Disney California Adventure. The new show is a big upgrade from the last show in the theatre, and is still geared towards younger kids, with seating on the floor only. The show features characters, bubbles, snow, disco lighting, and more. Unlike the previous show, Mickey and Minnie are present throughout the show. – https://www.micechat.com/415359-disneyland-update-celebrate-70-and-build-a-better-tomorrowland/ After over two years, a part of Adventureland has returned in a different form. The Adventureland restrooms across from the entrance to the land have finally lost the not very temporary wall. The wall was put up over two years ago to cover the damage from a burst water pipe. The new wall features some plants, a highly-themed water fountain, and a dividing wall that matches the nearby building. – https://www.micechat.com/415359-disneyland-update-celebrate-70-and-build-a-better-tomorrowland/ The new live action Lilo & Stitch movie is coming to theaters on May 23rd, and Stitch has stopped by Disneyland to celebrate. Stitch came and had a busy day at the parks, but left behind evidence he was there. A Stitch-themed window has been taken over outside the Emporium. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/stitch-crash-lands-at-disneyland-for-70th-celebration/ Fans of the Animation Academy unite! New clips that play in the large screens around the main lobby area have been added and include “Coco,” “Princess and the Frog,” “Moana,” “Soul,” “Zootopia,” and “Encanto.” Some clips from “Lady and the Tramp,” “Pinocchio,” and “Frozen” were removed to make room. – https://www.micechat.com/415359-disneyland-update-celebrate-70-and-build-a-better-tomorrowland/ SnackChat: Magic Key Terrace – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/magic-key-terrace/menus/ Wine Country Trattoria – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/wine-country-trattoria/menus/ Sonoma Terrace – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/sonoma-terrace/menus/ Discussion Topic: Tage and Teresa's Trip to Disneyland and the Disneyana Event

Background area music and ambiance for the Golden Vine Winery at California Adventure, including areas such as Mendocino Bar, Sonoma Terrace, Wine Country Trattoria, and Alfresco Tasting Terrace (now Making Key Terrace). There is a classic “DCA 1.0” original loop that has stood the test of time. It's dated, yet oh so glorious! A personal favorite of mine along with the original Pacific Wharf loop. This loop includes some guest ambiance as it's recorded along the ramp down from Wine Country Trattoria as you head down the Performance Corridor. There is one change in recording location between 4 to 5:30 minutes, but beyond that it stays steady.Audio recorded on Sunday 7/7/2024 around 11:30AM. It was a warm, low 80 degree day without a cloud in the sky with relatively light crowds for a summer day. --------------------Donate to the Show:Help keep Park Sensory going with a one-time donation. Travel Gluten Free Podcast Episode 160 How to Find Safe, Gluten-Free Restaurants for Your Kids with Jenn Bigler    Welcome to the Travel Gluten Free Podcast. Today, I'm talking with Jenn Bigler from Living Freely Gluten Free. She runs a platform dedicated to gluten-free and dairy-free living, and is the author of two allergy-friendly cookbooks. With multiple food allergies to be aware of, Jenn is dedicated to creating delicious meals the entire family can share.    Food Allergies in the Whole Family    Jenn discovered she had a gluten allergy in her 20s, and later noticed symptoms of food allergy in her children. Jenn encourages parents to advocate for their kids when it comes to allergies. Food allergy symptoms in children can easily be misdiagnosed as ADHD or other behavioral disorders, so be insistent on testing for allergens.    Now, Jenn has been gluten-free for 10 years. She started her blog as a collection of recipes from a creative young mom figuring out how to feed herself and her son. She turned that blog into a business, where she can reach more people with recipes that help them lead happier, healthier lives.    Family-Friendly Gluten-Free Cooking   Jenn is the author of two cookbooks: “Living Freely Gluten Free” and “101 Incredible Gluten Free Recipes.” Both are gluten free and dairy free. She recommends the first to anyone who's new to cooking and wants family-friendly, homestyle meals. The second one is more adventurous, with recipes for German chocolate cake, doughnuts, and more. Both books are about cooking one meal for the whole family, and being able to do it with confidence.    Traveling with Kids Gluten-Free   Jenn always recommends packing your own safe snacks and meals while going on trips. Each of her kids have their own snack bag, which can be refilled and taken anywhere. Lately, she's been bringing digestive enzymes, activated charcoal, and lactic tablets with her to avoid an upset stomach ruining anymore vacations.    Her family's next trip is to Disneyland. One of Jenn's favorite restaurants is the Wine Country Trattoria in California Adventure. With so many gluten-free options, the whole family is happy to eat there. She also recommends any of the breakfast locations, which are very accommodating to allergens.    Listen in to hear how Jenn built her gluten-free platform, her experience with publishing, and her advice for working around a multi-allergy family.    Happy 30th Birthday to Our Sponsor Kinnikinnick!   Kinnikinnick is celebrating its 30th birthday and is offering Travel Gluten Free listeners a 10% discount when you use the code TravelGlutenFree at checkout! Disneyland has a changed a lot over the years, but it seems announcements about upcoming changes are coming faster than ever. News: With the blueprint for a safer economy measures being stopped by the State of California, Disneyland is free to loosen some restrictions. As of Tuesday, June 15th, masks and social distancing are no longer required in the theme parks. Distancing markers have begun to be removed from the resort and indoor queues are now open for guests to wait inside, instead of outside like was previously required. – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/travel-information/ With the addition of more guests from out of state, more dining locations are reopening. As we reported on last week, Oga's Cantina, Docking Bay 7, Alien Pizza Planet, Rancho del Zocalo, Wine Country Trattoria, and Bayside brews are all returning. In addition to these, some quick service and outdoor vending locations are returning. Maurice's Treats, Jack Jack Cookie Num Nums, Fantasyland Food Cart, and Edelweiss Snacks on June 24th. July 1st, Hungry Bear, Lucky Fortune Cookery, Corn Dog Castle, Harbor Galley, Schmoozies, and Morimer's Market will be open. July 2nd, the Tangoroa Terrace and Trader Sam's reopen at the Disneyland Hotel. Finally, on July 8th, the Refreshment Corner and Clarabelle's Hand Scooped Ice Cream return. – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ Some of the live entertainment has been spotted rehearsing for their return this Friday, June 18. The Disneyland Band has been practicing after park hours, according to Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock's Instagram account. No word on other acts, but it seems like only a matter of time at this point. – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ Starting July 4th, Disneyland will resume nightly fireworks! Mickey's Mix Magic will run nightly through the summer for all to enjoy. Over at Walt Disney World, Happily Ever After will resume on July 1st at Magic Kingdom, and EPCOT Forever will return to Epcot, also on July 1st. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/fireworks-spectaculars-are-back-at-disney-parks-this-summer/ Four small attractions also reopened on June 15th. The Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-through, the Animation Academy, the Golden Zephyr, and Sorcerer's Workshop have all returned to guests. These attractions were able to return with the social distancing mandate expiring for California, allowing the tighter spaces and indoor areas to accommodate enough guests, allowing them to open. – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ Some changes have come to Avengers Campus since it opened at the resort just over a week ago. Showtimes for the Avengers character encounters have been added to the Disneyland mobile app, in order to allow guests to plan ahead and not wait in the land for hours waiting for the encounters to happen. – https://www.micechat.com/294016-simple-avengers-campus-fixes-on-the-way-showtimes-publish-today/ Some dining changes have come to Avengers Campus. Shawarma Palace has been removed from mobile order all together, more standby capacity was added to Pym Test Kitchen, and mobile orders can only be made inside the land. Previously, some guests could mobile order outside of the area, and then use the order to gain access, but this is no longer allowed. Having guests place orders while already in the area also allows for the mobile order windows to last a lot longer and not be completely full in the morning for the entire day. – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ The Disney Food Blog tested out the WEB Slinger Power Band to see if it was worth the price if you wanted to use it on the attraction. Basically, having a power band will give your web slinging a power up and gain more points, but it doesn't really affect the enjoyment of the attraction, unless you want to get the high score. Guests wanting to be the top of the leader board will need to have one of these to score the highest points possible. Unless topping the leader board is worth $60 to you, then these aren't a must have item. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/11/does-60-really-make-a-difference-on-web-slingers-at-disneys-avengers-campus/ Starting on June 18th, the Toy Story Parking lot will be open for guests again. Busses will be running between the resort transportation plaza and the parking lot, which hopefully means that the Mickey and Friends tram will also be making a comeback soon! – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ Some photo ops have come to Downtown Disney this week. One of the ops is from the Hulu original Love, Victor, the other is based on Spider-Man! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/13/whats-new-at-disneyland-resort-avengers-campus-opening-and-a-new-color-trend/ Of course with summer on the way, there is a summer treat that has returned to the resort. The Watermelon Seasonal Apple has arrived at Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure for $11.99. This variation on the classic features a Granny Smith apple with caramel, white chocolate and watermelon flavored coating, and marshmallow ears. There is a strong watermelon flavor, so if you are a fan of that, this is for you. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/10/review-a-disneyland-caramel-apple-has-a-fun-flavor-combo/ Beginning in January, 2022, students can enroll in a new set of workshops presented by Disney. Disney Imagination Campus will be a collection of workshops across a range of performing arts and academic subjects tiered to different grade levels. These workshops are geared to helping students learn how to apply their imaginations to solve a lifetime of challenges – in wildly creative ways. News: Avengers Campus finally opened to the public on Friday. The new area features Pym Test Kitchen, a unique take on different sized meals, Pym Testing Lab, a great place to get a cool beverage, Shwarma Palace, featuring the Avenger's favorite wraps, Terran Treats, with some sweet concoctions, two stores, WEB Suplliers, and Campus Supply Pod, a lot of area meet and greets, and two attractions, the existing Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, and the new WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Attraction. We will talk more in-depth about this experiences as we go through the news. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/now-open-first-recruits-assemble-at-avengers-campus-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ and https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/cast-and-community-members-among-first-recruits-in-avengers-campus-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ Of course the hot ticket on Campus is the new WEB Slingers attraction. This is virtual queue only at the moment, with slots available at 7am and noon each day. There is no standby. Guests that were able to snag a place in the queue can bypass the line to enter Avengers Campus and head in to board the attraction. Reviews are mixed and described the ride as a different version of Toy Story: Midway Mania. Riders use their hands to “shoot webs” at the different objects in the attraction to get a score and help Spider-Man save the Campus from the Spider-Bots, which have gone out of control. – https://www.micechat.com/292046-how-to-score-a-boarding-group-for-web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure/ Pym's Test Kitchen has been pretty well reviewed. Mobile ordering is the primary way to get food at this, and all the other dining locations in Avengers Campus, and has been less than ideal. On opening day, guests could order food when not in the land and could sometimes be allowed in to get their food, while other times being denied access. Over the weekend, they changed the notification so guests had to order in the land only, in addition to adding the order windows throughout the day, instead of only in the morning. The food itself is getting good reviews. The Pym-ini sandwich is reported to taste like a meat-lovers pizza in a sandwich. The Not So Little Chicken Sandwich also got good reviews. For a complete review, check out our link in the show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/full-review-lunch-at-pym-test-kitchen-in-disneys-avengers-campus/ Over at Terran Treats, the two new items are on the menu. The Sweet Spiral Ration, which is a pineapple churro, wrapped into a swirl, and the Cosmic Cream Orb, which is a chocolate cream puff, filled with whipped raspberry cheesecake. The Ration tastes like a Dole Whip mixed with a Churro. The Orb tastes mostly of cheesecake, with a hint of raspberry. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/full-review-terran-treats-at-disneys-avengers-campus/ The Shawarma Palace features breakfast and daytime menus. For breakfast, there is the Impossible Breakfast Sha-warm-up, which features plant based breakfast sausage and egg omelet wrap, with a dairy free American cheese and crispy potato bites, served with maple syrup. The daytime options include the New York's Tastiest, which is a chicken shawarma wrap, with garlic spread, and a coconut yogurt-tahini sauce and pickled vegetables, and then there is the Impossible Victory Falafel, which is a plant based falafel and cauliflower wrap, garlic spread, hummus, and coconut yogurt-tahini sauce, with pickled vegetables. The Disney Food Blog said the Falafel was a little bland, but the Chicken Wrap was great. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/full-review-shawarma-palace-in-disneys-avengers-campus/ Pym Test Kitchen also serves breakfast from opening until 10:45am. Options include Calculated Breakfast, the Ever-expanding Cinna-Pym Toast, the Impossible Quantum Garden Breakfast, and the Spoonful of Cereal. Sides include smoked bacon, turkey bacon, potato bites, or a Cuties mandarin. The Cinna-Pym toast was reviewed well, but the other items were hit and miss. Check out the link in our show notes for the complete review. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/breakfast-review-pym-test-kitchen-at-disneys-avengers-campus/ More dining locations will be open for guests to enjoy! Disney announced that on June 17th, Oga's Cantina, Docking Bay 7, Rancho del Zocalo, The Tiki Juice Bar, and Alien Pizza Planet would be serving guests. Reservations will be available starting on June 14th for Oga's, Lamplight Lounge and Wine Country Trattoria. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/disneys-parks-foodie-news-announcing-new-openings-and-offerings-sebastians-bistro-ohana-wine-country-trattoria-lamplight-lounge-brunch-and-more/ Unlike Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, which was criticized for not having enough atmosphere when it came to sound or interactions in the land, Avengers Campus excels in this regard. Members of the Avengers are out performing around the campus in stunt shows, a practice session, some acrobatic maneuvers, and in a short Dr. Strange show in the Ancient Sanctum. Music from the series is also played throughout the area. – https://www.micechat.com/292046-how-to-score-a-boarding-group-for-web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure/ For those of you who can't make it to the parks to visit Avengers Campus just yet, Walt Disney Imagineers have a solution! In their latest Disney Paper Parks release you can build all of Avengers Campus! The set also includes 13 Marvel characters to decorate the creation. The trains are now running from opening to close at Disneyland, and are boarding at all the stations. For the first few weeks that Disneyland was open, staffing shortages resulted in the train only running until 2:30 in the afternoon, and loading at ToonTown station only. – https://www.micechat.com/293761-disneyland-update-happy-holidays-ahead/ In other attractions news, Cast Members for the Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes have been spotted training. This means that this attraction will return to operation soon. No date has been announced by Disney. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/06/photos-cast-members-training-for-reopening-of-davy-crocketts-explorer-canoes-at-disneyland/ As we mentioned previously, there has been a snack shortage at Disneyland in the last couple of weeks, resulting in churros, Mickey pretzels, and chimichangas being unavailable on some days. The good news is that the parks have started receiving orders again, and items are back in stock around the resort. The bread bowls that are famous at the resort have not returned yet, but are expected to as staffing ramps up and more locations reopen for guests. – https://www.micechat.com/293761-disneyland-update-happy-holidays-ahead/ MiceChat had a follow up on the Red Car Trolley charging location at the front of Disney California Adventure. With Avengers Campus at the end of the line, along with the barn for the trolleys, the current route has been modified. The trolley now only runs from the entrance to the park on Buena Vista Street to Hollywood Land and back, resulting in the need for the charging pad at the entrance station. – https://www.micechat.com/293761-disneyland-update-happy-holidays-ahead/ Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen has come up with another new beignet creation. This time, they are covered in Fruity Pebbles, with a blueberry lemon icing. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/03/fruity-pebble-beignets-at-disneyland-sign-us-up/ For those Weeeklyteers that liked The Imagineering Story on Disney+, a new series is coming in July that might interest you. Behind the Attraction will premiere on July 16th (the day that we arrive in Anaheim for our trip), and will have 10 parts. Each episode will cover the behind the scenes of creating an iconic Disney attraction. Topics include the Castles at the parks, the Jungle Cruise, “it's a small world”, the Haunted Mansion, and more. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/go-behind-the-attraction-in-a-new-original-series-coming-to-disney-on-july-16/ Discussion Topic: Devin from Disney Media Finance

I think Carthay Circle has something going on as well. Like an added item on the menu. But what it is just depends on when you go.Celebrity Kitchen - Hard ticket events located inside Stage 17. Prices start at $99 and there is a special AP VIP Experience that includes autographs, priority seating, and a gift. Those are $149 plus tax. Schedule and reservations can be made at the Disneyland Website. Wine, Beer and Spirit seminars - Held at the Sonoma Terrace. Limited to 75 people per class. Cost $15.00. You can meet the artists and purchase their creations during scheduled events each weekend of the Festival. Video In addition to these product releases, Disney is also featuring some of these artists on stage during the Food & Wine Festival. Visitors can watch the artists create new artwork at the Lifestyle Stage in Hollywood Land then meet them in person at Off the Page later in the day. Mouseplanet has a schedule of who will be appearing at all of these events. Mouseplanet did a really good job of putting this all together. One thing that is being offered to annual Passholders is a special Tasting Passport and a lounge to hang out in. This pass costs $39 bucks (down from $45) and gives you 6 tasting portions from the Festival marketplace booths not including alcohol. If you use it and get 6 of the most expensive items on the menus you have a few bucks. Pretty much every website says it is a rip off. Even after they lowered the price of it.
