News: This weekend at South by Southwest, Disney had a panel called “The Future of World-Building at Disney” which gave us a ton of information about upcoming theme park attractions. One of these was the updated experience coming next year to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run. The new adventure will feature the Mandalorian and Grogu, better known as “the child” from the hit Disney+ series. This new experience will take guests to new locations for the attraction, like Cloud City, Tatooine, and the Death Star wreckage. The update will coincide with the premiere of “The Mandalorian and Grogu” movie on May 22, 2026. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/sxsw-2025-new-missions-smugglers-run-mandalorian/ https://www.micechat.com/410722-disney-parks-announcements-from-swsx-avengers-star-wars-a-tomorrowland-tease/ Also at South by Southwest, Disney gave new details on the Avengers Campus updates at Disneyland. The large e-ticket Avengers Infinity Defense didn't get much new information, but the Stark Flight Lab did! Robert Downey Jr., who plays Tony Stark and Iron Man, was present to talk about the upcoming attraction. The attraction will have guests in “gyro-kinetic pods” that will roll on a track before being attached to a giant robotic arm and taken through some high-speed maneuvers. Tranferring the ride vehicle from the track to the robot arm and back again has never been done before. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/sxsw-2025-robert-downey-jr-tony-stark-avengers-campus/ https://www.micechat.com/410722-disney-parks-announcements-from-swsx-avengers-star-wars-a-tomorrowland-tease/ All of this can be seen in the latest episode of “We Call it Imagineering” on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel. In the latest episode, they talk about the updates we just mentioned, as well as talk with legendary Imagineer Bob Gurr. The episode covers all kinds of ride vehicles from past, present, and into the future. There is even a great behind the curtain look at the underbelly of the Omnimover system at the Haunted Mansion! If you want to take a look at this, check out the link in the show notes. – https://youtu.be/IuQPrGLo0QM?si=Dt9qzvh4bD5xCSUZ Also at the SXSW conference, it was announced that characters from the upcoming Fantastic Four movie will be coming to Tomorrowland. This includes H.E.R.B.I.E. – the flying robot from the upcoming movie. No firm date on when they will land in Tomorrowland, but it is likely around the premiere of the movie on July 25, 2025. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/03/08/disney-announces-new-additions-coming-soon-to-tomorrowland/ https://www.micechat.com/410722-disney-parks-announcements-from-swsx-avengers-star-wars-a-tomorrowland-tease/ The Disney Parks Blog posted a Guide to the 70th Anniversary at the Disneyland Resort, with some new details for the celebration. Disney abandoned its overpriced Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser when it was clear it was one of the biggest blunders in Walt Disney World history. Now it looks like they're going to repurpose it -- as office space for Imagineers working on other unpopular announced attractions. Good luck with that.
Disney's Hollywood Studios is just a "junk drawer" of mismatched IPs like Star Wars, Toy Story, and Monsters Inc., according to Disney fans. 42% of the "pixie dusters" on Disney Food Blog seem to be turning on Disney, and it'll only get worse once Epic Universe opens. Disney's Hollywood Studios is a "junk drawer" of mismatched IPs like Star Wars, Toy Story, and Monsters Inc., with 42% of Disney Food Blog readers believing Disney is quietly ruining the park. The Star Wars area in Hollywood Studios is described as ugly and boring, with a hodgepodge of elements that don't fit together cohesively. Current Disney CEO Bob Iger is criticized for not being creative, chasing out creatives, and prioritizing his own celebrity status and profit over Walt's Vision. Disney's over-reliance on acquisitions, especially Star Wars, is causing their parks to become unrecognizable, losing their identity and culture. Epcot is being particularly ruined by the addition of IP-based attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy, which critics argue doesn't belong in the park's original concept. Disney's focus on building more cruise ships (13 by 2030) is seen as a distraction from failing parks, with smaller ships introduced to charge more for less. Disney's decision to repurpose existing parks and attractions instead of building new, well-planned ones like Epic Universe is viewed as a major mistake. The removal of the Backlot Tour and Sound Stage in Hollywood Studios years ago has left the park with attractions that don't fit together cohesively.

DONATE TO THE ZESTIt's the most delicious time of year at the Most Magical Place on Earth. We're talking about the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. The annual event takes place through Nov. 23 at EPCOT's World Showcase. That's the area of the theme park whose architecture replicates a bunch of different countries. Throughout the year, each “country” in EPCOT highlights its cuisine. But during the Food & Wine Festival, things get even more elaborate, with special kiosks featuring bespoke food and drinks.Dalia recently attended the festival, as did her WUSF colleagues Leslie Laney and Mark Schreiner. Dinner for Shoes is a podcast hosted by Sarah Wasilak, a fashion and food enthusiast with her mouth full. With appearances by her cats, Trish and Kit, and agendas that almost always go to shit, we aim to dive into a discussion about style and break some bread in each episode. In episode six, Mickey Eggs + Disney Threads, Sarah discusses her own brand of Disney Adulting, which heavily involves dressing for the parks and restaurants she's going to visit on each day of her trip. We distinguish between Disney street style and a classic park outfit, and Sarah dishes out tips for incorporating subtle nods to Mickey with your looks, should you want to walk down Main Street feeling cool as a cat. Finally, Sarah tries to re-create one of her favorite Disney buffet items — Mickey Eggs. Can she do it? Watch and find out. Like so many others my Disney journey began when I was younger and my family would visit each year. Once I was old enough, I knew I wanted to work for the company so I joined the Disney College Program and I became a Photopass cast member in Magic Kingdom. I was honored to work there through parts of Disney history like the opening of "New" Fantasyland, The opening team for Princess Fairytale Hall and for Talking Mickey on Main Street. The refreshed land greeted guests as a soft opening on Saturday after a media event, and then officially opened on Sunday. The newly reopened section has some of the same features that guests really liked in the already opened section for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. There is a lot of grass, a new fountain for younger guests to play in, the dreaming tree, Goofy's How to Play yard which is fun for all ages, and more! - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/03/mickeys-toontown-reopens-today-in-disneyland-park/ - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/photos-video-full-daytime-tour-of-reimagined-mickeys-toontown-in-disneyland-park/ The atmosphere is great, but what about the new FOOD in Toontown? The Disney Food Blog ordered and tried everything in the new land and had some mixed results. For drinks, they liked the Picnic Time Watermelon Lemonade, with the Granny Goof's Garden Sweet Tea was their least favorite. For actual food, their favorite was the Spring Garden Wrap, with their least favorite being Daisy's Dressed-Up Dog. The news happened Sunday evening, while the stock market was closed. Bob Iger sent an email out to all the employees of the company with more information to come. Once the market opened on Monday, the stock has risen 9%. Bob Chapek has left the company and Bob Iger is expected to stay for just 2 years while he works to set someone else up to take over the company. – https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/the-walt-disney-company-board-of-directors-appoints-robert-a-iger-as-chief-executive-officer/ and https://variety.com/2022/biz/news/bob-iger-restructuring-disney-kareem-daniel-exit-1235439263/ We have a date for the opening of Mickey's ToonTown! The full land will open on March 8th — a little over a month after Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway is scheduled to open on January 27th. As a recap, we can expect to see an update to Goofy's House with an interactive playground for kids; a new spot for Donald's Boat playground equipment and video portholes; A re-themed Gadget's Go-Coaster focusing on Chip and Dale; And the return of Mickey and Minne's Houses, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin in addition to dining options at Café Daisy and Good Boy! Grocers. – https://twitter.com/DisneyParks/status/1593620677612998656 We heard this announcement this past Friday, as the park celebrated Mickey & Minnie's 94th Birthday with special buttons handed out at the main entrances and a birthday cavalcade downtown Main Street. The parade featured the Dapper Dans led sing alongs from the Omnibus, the Disneyland Band playing “Happy Birthday” with a bunch of characters, the Mickey and Minnie as the guests of honor before the cavalcade ends with a giant birthday cake for the pair. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Indy is back open after its 3-day refurb, but it's not what we were hoping. MiceChat says many of its major effects are still not working and is in desperate need of a rumored major overhaul. Meanwhile, in DCA Monsters Inc.: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! opened up over the weekend with updated black light effects, fixed projection effects and some new safety features. The outside also got a fresh coat of paint. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Magic Keys were back on sale at Disneyland for a brief time this week. All keys except the Enchant level were open for new sales. Not long after, the Believe key was sold out and the others followed later. Magic Key sales are closed for now. Disney utilized the online queue for new sales like they have done in the past. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/17/disney-has-paused-select-magic-key-pass-sales/ Disneyland is adapting Disney World's latest cancelation policy for dining reservations. That means reservations must be canceled at least 2 hours prior to avoid a $10 per person cancelation fee. DisneyFoodBlog reports Disney saying this does not apply to Downtown Disney District restaurants, the World of Color Dessert Party, the Princess Breakfast Adventure at Napa Rose, and Tomorrowland Skyline Terrace. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/17/update-made-to-dining-reservation-cancelation-policy-for-disneyland/ We are not even past Thanksgiving in the United States, but Disney is already thinking of the Lunar New Year and the California Food and Wine Festival. In 2023, Lunar New Year is starting on January 20th and running through February 15th. For 2023, it is the Year of the Rabit for the Chinese New Year, which symbolizes luck, but the Vietnamese New Year is the Year of the Cat. Two new Lunar New Year marketplaces arrive this year; Bamboo Blessings and Wrapped with Love. The Food and Wine Festival will run from March 3rd through April 25th. With the Food and Wine festival, Soarin' Over California will return once again. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/11/lunar-new-year-celebration-and-disney-california-adventure-food-&-wine-festival-return-in-2023-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ A week after the rest of the resort, the holidays arrived at Downtown Disney and the resort hotels. Trees, nutcrackers, snowmen and more line the streets of the shopping district. Inside the hotels you'll find the annual staples — the Gingerbread house and giant tree in the Grand Californian Lobby, Mid-Century Modern decor adorns the Disneyland Hotel. Though MiceChat is reporting a rumor that this style of holiday decorations will go away next year. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ On November 18th, the Mandalorian and Grogu landed in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland. The duo greeted guests and even interacted with Boba Fett in the land. They should be out and greeting guests every 30 minutes. No news on how long they will be visiting Batuu, so if you are interested in meeting them, get to the parks soon. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/18/photos-and-video-we-met-baby-yoda-in-disneyland/ This past week featured Life Day — the holiday celebration in the Star Wars Universe. You can get a taste of holiday-inspired dishes back in Galaxy's Edge. At Docking Bay 7, you can find Trandoshan-style Past with Braised Bantha — which is a braid beef over Cavatelli pasta with veggies, a zesty avocado sauce, and balsamic glaze. We've heard it's a bit spicy. Or there is a Yobshrmip Mix stew with Swamp Grains — another spicy dish featuring shrimp, sausage, veggies, and rice with a tomato curry sauce. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/20/we-have-one-word-to-describe-these-2-new-disney-snacks-spicy/ Guests who shop early and want to grab their merch on the way out of the park instead of carrying it will now find it at the Disneyland Merchant's Guild, located in the former Guided Tour building next to Disneyland's City Hall. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Discussion: Marceline, MO – https://www.downtownmarceline.org/tour/

Each level of Magic Key will see a price increase from as little as $50, to as much as $200 for the high end key. The Dream Key, which was the top end key when the program started and had no blockout dates has been retired and replaced with a Inspire key, priced at $1599. New perks added to the high level keys include parking discounts, free PhotoPass, and Genie+ discounts. – https://www.micechat.com/330375-disneyland-magic-keys-everything-you-need-to-know/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/ Last week, Disney had their quarterly earnings call and reported some great news for the theme park division. Disney Parks, Experiences and Products reported quarterly revenue of $7.4 billion, up from $4.3 billion a year earlier. Last year, Disney Cruise Line was still shut down and the parks were still recovering, but this is still great news. However, there was one comment that made Disneyland fans upset. They stated that Genie+ and Lightning Lane increased the per capita ticket revenue, “partially offset by an unfavorable attendance mix at Disneyland Resort.” This led to Magic Key holders getting upset online about being unfavorables. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ MagicBand+ hasn't come to Disneyland just yet, but there is already a new interactive game under construction that uses the technology. Batuu Bounty Hunters has already launched in Walt Disney World's version of Batuu, and will launch at Disneyland when the MagicBand+ system launches by the end of the year. The game will require the Play Disney Parks app and a MagicBand+. The MagicBand+ will change colors depending on if you are heading in the right direction and change to purple when the bounty is found. WDWNewToday had a great writeup about the game, which we have linked in the show notes. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/08/star-wars-batuu-bounty-hunters-game-station-is-under-construction-in-disneyland/ and https://wdwnt.com/2022/07/batuu-bounty-hunters-galaxys-edge-magicband/ Weeklyteers who want to know what is going on with ToonTown, we have an update for you. MiceChat has posted some new aerial photos of the work going on back there. Goofy's house has been repainted, the area where the new CarTOONial park will be has been cleared, along with all of the paving in the land. Mickey and Minnie's houses are surrounded by scaffholding and are being repainted, as is the ToonTown mountainside above the neighborhood. – https://www.micechat.com/329376-disneyland-update-part-2-flying-high-over-toontown-construction-sweet-treats/ There was a traffic accident this past week, but it wasn't on any of the loal Anaheim roads, but on the Autopia! Images posted on Instagram show two Autopia vehicles had somehow been driven on top of one of the concrete barriers. This would have been extremely difficult to do by accident as the cars are limited to 5mph. The two vehicles appeared to have been pushed up onto the concrete by colliding into one another. Cast members were unsure how this happened when they came across the scene. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/08/autopia-accident-leaves-ride-vehicles-derailed-and-damaged-at-disneyland/ Some new menu items are coming to a popular eatery in Galaxy's Edge. Docking Bay 7 will have the new menu items starting the day this episode goes live. The items include a new Cold Brew with Taro Topper, which is a nitro cold brew topped with sweet Taro cream. The other item is the Gungan Broth Noodles, which has Roasted Pork, Angel Hair Pasta, Bok Choy, Mushrooms, Yuzu-Tomato Compote, and a Pesto-Tonkatsu Broth. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/08/15/new-menu-additions-coming-soon-to-docking-bay-7-in-disneyland/ We reported a couple weeks ago about a couple of new hand pies at the resort. Now, it seems that they are all over the place and with almost as many varieties as churros, if that is even possible! Guests can get a strawberry hand pie at Candy Palace, Lemon at the Honey Spot, Blueberry at Trolley Treats, Raspberry at Bing Bongs, and Guava at Marceline's in Downtown Disney. Reports online have been extremely favorable to the new line of treats, especially the pastry part. – https://www.micechat.com/329376-disneyland-update-part-2-flying-high-over-toontown-construction-sweet-treats/ Guests have been unhappy with the paper straws in the parks for some time now. Now, there is a new eco-friendly option availalbe at teh Candy Palace on Main Street. The new straw option is an edible straw which comes in three flavors; strawberry, lemon, and lime. Each straw costs $1, and the DIsney Food Blog reports that they don't get mushy like the paper straws. For Weeklyteers who would like to try these at home, Amazon.com also sells the same brand online. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/08/09/yes-we-paid-to-eat-our-straw-at-disneyland/ A shop in New Orleans Square is getting a new mix of products from a different vendor. Mlle. Antoinette's Parfumerie will soon start offering a large collection of the Guerlain fragrances and cosmetics. – https://www.micechat.com/328951-disneyland-update-magic-keys-please-early-morning-magic-halloween-begins/ There still may be a couple weeks of summer left, but Halloween is quickly starting to appear around the resort. The Plaza Point Holiday Shoppe already has Halloween themed items available. The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is currently closed to guests as it transforms into Villains Grove for the Oogie Boogie Bash parties. Main Street and Buena Vista Street window displays are changing over as well. – https://www.micechat.com/328951-disneyland-update-magic-keys-please-early-morning-magic-halloween-begins/ and https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ Weeklyteers who like to participate in the scavenger hunts should get excited! Pluto's Pumpkin Persuit is coming back this year. Like in previous years, guests can purchase a game board to start hunting for the deorated pumpkins scattered around Downtown Disney. Once all the pupkins have been found, the completed game board can be turned in for a special surpise. Last year it was a choice of plastic sipper. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ Detail oriented guests may have noticed some changes to some grass areas of Main Street recently. Some of the sections have been replaced by artificial terf. Based on the lack of rainfall in California, this might be a good replacement for the greenery. The new terf is almost indistinguishable from real grass and will require less upkeep. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ Fans of the “I Am Groot” series on Disney+ can now get a new magic shot with their favorite baby Groot charater. September 1st will be the last day to catch both of these classic entertainment options. World of Color and Fantasmic! will continue on their regular schedules. Halloween Time starts at the resort September 2nd, so this is making way for the Halloween Screams fireworks. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/07/catch-disneyland-forever-fireworks-main-street-electrical-parade-before-their-limited-time-runs-end-sept-1/ Ticket prices could be going up soon for Disneyland, but not because of Disney. A proposed ordinance by the Anaheim City Council would add a 2% admissions tax to all tickets sold to any venue that holds 15,000 or more people. This would add $2 to $4 to each ticket for a one-day, one-park ticket, depending on the season. If approved by the council, it would be on the ballot for voters in November. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/07/15/why-your-disneyland-ticket-could-cost-more-soon/ On Disneyland's 67th birthday, the Red Car Trolley returned to Buena Vista Street! Shortly after it opened, it broke down for part of the day, before returning to service later in the day. There is only one of the trolleys running for now, the second trolley is not ready for use at this time. The Red Car Trolley will be brought on stage before park opening and will make trips back and fourth to Hollywoodland, never entering Avengers Campus or going backstage when the park is open. – https://www.micechat.com/327280-disneyland-update-67-years-of-magic-looking-forward-and-crossing-fingers/ There is a disturbance in the timeline in Star Wars Galaxies Edge. For the first time since the land opened, two different stories with two different time frames will be happening at once. Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, along with Grogu and the Mandalorian are now seen walking around the land, with characters from the sequel trilogy also present. How does Disney deal with this time bending? Imagineering is using “story bubbles.” Basically, as long as the stories unfold to guests and don't interact with each other, it is good. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/07/13/how-disneyland-keeps-boba-fett-from-bumping-into-kylo-ren-in-galaxys-edge-and-why-it-matters/ The Downtown Disney Silletas have a new addition that helps provide some context! New signage and a QR code at each of the displays now inform guests what the display is and what it represents. Previously, it was unclear what some of the displays were about. – https://www.micechat.com/327280-disneyland-update-67-years-of-magic-looking-forward-and-crossing-fingers/ Dole Whip fans mark your calendars! July 21st is Dole Whip Day! Dole Whips are available all around the world at Disney parks and resorts. Aulani, Disney Cruise Line, and Domestic Disney parks on both coasts are great locations to get the frosty treat. The Dole Whip debuted at the Magic Kingdom in Florida back in 1984. The Disney Parks blog has a recipe for guests to create the iconic treat at home. Visit the link in the show notes to make one at home! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/07/snack-and-listen-celebrate-dole-whip-day-with-recipe-ukulele-styled-disney-music/ Two iconic attractions are getting some new merchandise. A new pair of Haunted Mansion ears, featuring a bow with the purple wallpaper print, a black top hat with HM monogramed on the side, and the striped pattern from the cast member costumes on the ears, with some neon green bats. The Haunted Mansion is embroidered on the band on one side. The wars are on sale at the Pieces of Eight shop for $29.99. Not to be outdone, a new Loungefly backpack with Pirates of the Caribbean is also for sale. The backpack is white leather, featuring the iconic jail cell scene with the pirates attempting to get the keys from the dog. Guests can get one of these for $75. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/07/16/wait-until-you-see-disneys-new-haunted-mansion-ears/ Some Weeklyteers listening might have wondered what it would be like to have a corn dog for breakfast. Wonder no more! The breakfast corn dog is available for $9.29 at Corn Dog Castle in Disney California Adventure. It is a breakfast sausage and egg corn dog, topped with powdered sugar and raspberry jelly, and is served with a Mandarin orange, Cuties, or a small bag of chips. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/07/review-start-your-day-off-right-with-a-breakfast-corn-dog-at-disney-california-adventure/ The Disney Food Blog wanted everyone making plans to visit Disneyland, or anywhere in Southern California years in advance to take some information into account before booking anything. He revealed more details of what is to come at Downtown Disney. In an interview on the D23 Insider podcast, he said that they are looking at Downtown Disney through the lens of Disney Springs out in Florida and how successful that has been. More diverse options are coming with the addition of Din Tai Fung, a Chinese cuisine restaurant, along with Catal and Uva Bar transforming into a hub of Mexican Cuisine with Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytan. Finally, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen will be getting a complete overhaul into a more “vibrant California energy” theme. This year, there are THREE games in the Eggstraviganza! Each board is $9.99 plus tax, and can be purchased at select merchandise locations around the resort. One game board is for Disneyland park, one is for Disney California Adventure, and finally one for Downtown Disney. Once guests have found all the eggs, the game boards can be returned for one of six collectable eggs. Redemption locations are at the Plaza Point on Main Street, Elias & Co. on Buena Vista Street, and Disney's Pin Traders in Downtown Disney. The party featured an open bar and an all-you-can-eat buffet. The cast members that were celebrated were those with over 10 years of service. This included 102 that worked for 40 years at Disneyland, 46 who worked 45 years, and 14 who worked 50 years! Half of the attractions and more than two-dozen Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters were on hand. It was the largest employee service celebration in Disneyland history. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/03/28/disneyland-honors-100000-years-of-work-with-employee-service-celebration/ A sad bit of news to report this week as one of, if not the most famous cast members at the resort is retiring! Maynard, who Tage has been aware of since the late 90s, is stepping away from the Happiest Place on Earth on April 1st. This isn't an April fools joke though! We were lucky enough to meet him at the Enchanted Tiki Room during our visit in December. He was almost as big of a character as Mickey Mouse himself. Guests were always in for a treat when he was at a location. Disneyland just won't be the same without him, but he deserves some time to himself in retirement! – https://www.micechat.com/317538-disneyland-cast-member-maynard-smith-retires/ Calling all single riders! For the first time since the attraction opened, Web Slingers will offer a single rider line. The new single rider entrance is located between the stand-by entrance and the Lightning Lane entrance. Walls went up almost two weeks ago and work is underway to remove some of the elevated sections of the walkway to provide for more queuing options for Pirates, and better crowd flow for Fantasmic! From the view over the construction walls, the planters have gone away, but the trees have remained. – https://www.micechat.com/317860-dateline-disneyland-disney-dining-drama-downtown-disney-demolition/ One place that the trees have not been spared is in the Pirates Queue where the two older trees have been trimmed back for removal soon. News: Classic character meet and greets could be coming back soon! During a Q&A session at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, & Telecom Conference this week, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Walt Disney Company Christine McCarthy said they should be returning “soon.” She pointed to the decline in Covid cases as a good indicator of the safety of the meet and greets. She also stated that meet and greets could help with long lines that have been at the parks recently. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/07/news-face-to-face-character-meet-and-greets-returning-soon-to-disney-parks/ and https://www.ocregister.com/2022/03/07/when-will-disneyland-let-mickey-mouse-hug-visitors-again/ At the same conference, we got some insight on the capacity of the parks currently. The apple is covered in green chocolate with large eyes, and, of course, cute little ears. The bottom is made to look like his brown outfit. Guests can pick one up for $12.99 for a limited time. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/14/we-thought-we-had-seen-disneys-best-baby-yoda-treats-until-now/ A new churro has taken the internet by storm this week. The Lemon Bar Churro has landed at the Grizzly Peak Churro Cart in Disney California Adventure. The churro is rolled in crushed vanilla wafer sugar with a tart lemon drizzle. The Disney Food Blog says it tastes just like eating a lemon bar in churro form. This version will set you back $6.75. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/15/review-disney-just-combined-2-of-our-favorite-desserts-and-were-in-love/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/15/review-disney-peanut-butter-chocolate-churro-need-we-say-more/ If beignets are your jam, then stop on by the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square for a new flavor. The Butter Cookie Mickey Beignets are the classic beignet, coated in shortbread cookie flavored powered sugar. The cookie butter dipping sauce is an excellent side for this beignet and is sold separately. They come in a 3-pack for $5.49, or a 6-pack for $8.99. The side of dipping sauce is $0.89. According to reviews, the dipping sauce is a MUST for this treat. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/01/14/we-didnt-think-we-could-love-mickey-beignets-more-then-disneyland-did-this/ Beignets aren't the only thing with a new variation! The Royal Street Verana now has limited time Bacon Cheddar Jalapeno fritters. The fritters are served with a cheddar cheese dipping sauce. The jalapeno is not overly present, so it isn't spicy. There is a good mix of flavors, but the fritter itself can be a bit greasy. For $5.99, guests can get 3 of the new item, sauce included. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/review-new-limited-time-bacon-cheddar-jalapeno-fritters-from-royal-street-veranda-at-disneyland/ A new take on a classic has appeared in Frontierland. The Strawberry Ice Cream Float is available at the Golden Horseshoe for $5.99. The treat is Sprite, with stawberry ice cream and topped with whipped cream. Basically, a root beer float, but with Sprite and Strawberry ice cream, instead of Root Beer and Vanilla ice cream. The drink is reported to be a bit messy, so be ready with a lot of napkins. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/review-share-a-new-sprite-strawberry-ice-cream-float-from-golden-horseshoe-with-your-sweetheart-for-valentines-day-at-disneyland/ With Valentines Day coming up in less than a month, a new sweet drink has come to Red Rose Tavern. The Strawberry Sweetheart Tea is black tea with lemon, and is sweetened with strawberries. Don't let the name fool you, it is a frozen drink that looks more like a smoothie than anything resembling tea. The new drink tastes like sweet tea mized with strawberry puree. The lemon is not very pronounced at all. Guests can enjoy this sweetheart drink for $6.49 in Fantasyland. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/review-strawberry-sweetheart-tea-is-a-sweet-slushy-valentines-day-treat-at-disneyland-park/ Fans of the Hungry Bear and the funnel cakes at this location should get excited! A new Red Velvet funnel cake is offered for the Valentine's season. The funnel cake is made with red velvet batter, and topped with cream cheese icing, strawberry ice cream, and whipped cream. It can be a bit rich, but looks like an excellent seasonal offering for $8.99. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/01/review-celebrate-the-season-of-love-with-red-velvet-funnel-cake-from-hungry-bear-restaurant-at-disneyland/ Discussion Topic: Lunar New Year Disney Parks Blog – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2011/02/happy-lunar-new-year-festival-at-disneyland-park-feb-4-6-and-11-13/ AllEars.net – https://allears.net/2012/01/19/happy-lunar-new-year-celebration-at-disneyland-park-fact-sheet/ AllEars.net – https://allears.net/2012/01/21/disneylands-lunar-new-year-celebration/ AllEars.net – https://allears.net/2018/01/27/disney-california-adventure-lunar-new-year-celebration-the-year-of-the-dog/ MiceChat – https://www.micechat.com/312034-disneyland-merchandise-update-lunar-new-year-and-more/ MiceChat – https://www.micechat.com/312637-disney-california-adventure-lunar-new-year-eats-and-treats/ Disneyland.com – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/events-tours/lunar-new-year/
