Tiana's Palace, which was rethemed from the French Market, is looking closer and closer to completion. At this point, it looks like it could open at any time. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/08/13/new-look-at-tianas-palace-restaurant-reveals-big-change/ Fans of the Adventureland Treehouse can cheer! Much of the scaffolding around the attraction has come down and many of the new sections can be seen by guests. The work looks to be wrapping up, with an opening date still unannounced. Judging by the amount of work left to complete, it should be open in the next couple of months. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/08/photos-reimagined-adventureland-treehouse-revealed-as-scrims-and-scaffolding-removed-at-disneyland-park/ https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/08/changes-to-password-sharing-coming-soon-for-disney/ https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/08/14/construction-on-disneys-adventureland-treehouse-is-almost-complete/ A popular Tomorrowland attraction which rarely closes for refurbishment will be closing on September 18th. Space Mountain is scheduled to close with no posted reopening date at this time. It is too late in the season for the Ghost Galaxy overlay, but there have been reports of the light tunnel at the beginning of the attraction not working properly. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/08/space-mountain-closing-for-refurbishment-beginning-september-18-at-disneyland-park/ Tiki fans should be happy to hear about a couple of new items that have arrived at the resort. There is a Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bag, which is made of woven straw and has embroidery, beads, and shells. It can be found at Disney's Fantasia Shop at the Disneyland Hotel. The other item is a chip and dip bowl set for $69.99. The set looks like half of a barrel with Trader Sam's written on the side. The coral reef bottom is split into sections for dips. Avengers Vault is the name of the new location that will open mid-September in part of the Avengers Headquarters building, under the Quinjet. Infinity Saga relics will be sold along with other Avengers merchandise. The new shop will replace the Super Store featuring the Avengers. Disney Lorcana was announced and some of the cards were shown off at the D23 Expo last year. The game is similar in play style to Magic: The Gathering, and Pokemon. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/08/video-ravensburger-releases-new-video-teasing-the-narrative-of-disney-lorcana/ Disney and Walt Disney Imagineering are creating a task force to explore AI possibilities. Imagineering has already used AI in at least one project that has already been shown to guests. The Baby Groot character in DCA used AI to help give life to the character. Disney is looking to use AI to enhance customer support, and create new experiences for guests. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/08/disney-creates-ai-task-force-to-explore-future-use-for-movies-theme-parks-and-more/ This past week, The Walt Disney Company had its quarterly earnings call. Disney CEO Bob Iger commented that he sees three growth segments of the business: the film studios, the theme parks, and streaming. That is great news for park fans. Attendance and earnings were up for Disneyland and way up for international parks. Walt Disney World is in a slump post-50th anniversary. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/08/disney-parks-resorts-reports-13-increase-8-3-billion-in-revenue-for-third-quarter-2023/ https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/08/losses-shrink-savings-target-of-5-5-billion-exceeded-in-22-3-billion-third-quarter-2023-for-the-walt-disney-company/ https://www.micechat.com/364021-disneys-q3-earnings-call/ During the earnings call, the subject of Disney+ password sharing was mentioned. There is no word on when or if they will go back on sale. Speculation online thinks that this is because of the impending lawsuit around reservations and access tied to the Magic Key program. Even more speculation online thinks that the program may get reworked again before going back on sale. Only time will tell. – https://www.micechat.com/323209-disneyland-news-magic-key-locked-new-ca-resident-ticket-offer/ For Weeklyteers who are going to the park and who aren't Magic Keyholders, there is a great ticket deal available! California residents can purchase summer tickets to Disneyland starting as low as $83 per day. The ticket is a 3-day, one park per day ticket for $249 for Monday through Thursday admission, with weekend tickets starting at $299. For $60 more per ticket, park hopping can be added. Tickets are valid for trips from June 3th and September 15th, 2022. Not a bad value to get to see all the nighttime entertainment that has returned. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/31/new-ticket-deal-announced-for-select-disneyland-guests/ Star Wars Celebration was this past weekend across the street from the Disneyland Resort at the Anaheim Convention Center. A lot of Star Wars news was announced, even some parks news! Boba Fett and Fennec Shand were announced to be coming to Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, and then they were there over the weekend. Din Djarin, better known as The Mandalorian, and Grogu, better known as the Child were also announced to be showing up in the area soon. This is a break from the strict timeline that Imagineering has placed on the area, but promise that the characters from the different eras will not interact or be in the same area at the same time. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/13175/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_May_31__June_5_2022#news3 Anyone who has been to Oga's Cantina in Star Wars Galaxys Edge will know DJ Rex spinning tunes for the patrons of the establishment. Soon, guests can listen to some of his tracks on a new album that will be released. No firm date at the moment, but we will keep you updated once we see it online. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/27/videos-dj-r3x-from-disneys-ogas-cantina-is-releasing-an-album/ Signs outside of the Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland tease the return of the combined museum/store/photo op. No word yet on when this will reopen, but Cast Members are stationed outside of the location telling guests it should be returning soon. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ This past weekend, Fantasmic! returned to the Rivers of America to delight guests once again. The projections look clear and bright, the show scenes look fresh, and the show was amazing as always. The best way to get a great seat for the show is to book the River Belle Terrace dining package for $50 per guest, since they are using the same reserved seating area that the Blue Bayou usually uses. Once the Blue Bayou reopens, this area is expected to be shifted to the side more to accommodate the Blue Bayou guests. The Hungry Bear location is across from the Haunted Mansion and offers a side viewing angle for the show. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ June is here, which means that the busy summer season has started at Disneyland. The Disneyland Forever fireworks show will now play nightly with fireworks 7 days a week. During the non-summer and holiday season, Mickey's Mix Magic was played with projections only during the week, with fireworks on the weekends only. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Last week, the most popular attraction in Disney California Adventure had an incident that has caused it to be closed ever since. Video online showed one of the cars on the outside racetrack portion of the attraction stopped and smoking. Though the vehicle never caught fire, the guests in the vehicle were buckled in with smoke coming from the rear. Cast Members did get out to the guests and exit them from the vehicle with no injuries. Disney has closed the attraction to investigate the incident to ensure it won't happen again. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ In Downtown Disney, food trucks have taken up residence by the old ESPN building to help feed hungry guests. These food trucks are expected to be there until at least July 4th. This is a great idea since the Earl of Sandwich is gone and there is a lack of affordable dining options, especially for larger families. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Guests staying at the Paradise Pier Hotel can enjoy one of the hotel amenities again. The pool has finally reopened after a lengthy refurbishment. None of the stores or restaurants are open yet at the location, but it is great to have the pool open so guests don't have to walk over to the Disneyland Hotel to use their pool. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Discussion Topic: DLWeekyl Vault: Former Aladdin a Musical Spectacular Genie Dylan Website – http://www.dylanwhite.com/ Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/itsdylanwhite/ Aladdin a Musical Spectacular Final Performance – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enW48NlXRj4

News: Classic character meet and greets could be coming back soon! During a Q&A session at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, & Telecom Conference this week, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Walt Disney Company Christine McCarthy said they should be returning “soon.” She pointed to the decline in Covid cases as a good indicator of the safety of the meet and greets. She also stated that meet and greets could help with long lines that have been at the parks recently. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/07/news-face-to-face-character-meet-and-greets-returning-soon-to-disney-parks/ and https://www.ocregister.com/2022/03/07/when-will-disneyland-let-mickey-mouse-hug-visitors-again/ At the same conference, we got some insight on the capacity of the parks currently. A question came up asking about the current capacity and if it was back to 100%. McCarthy said they are not back to full capacity, but they are close. When asked if the capacity would go back to pre-covid levels, her answer was no. The way in which they manage the parks is different now. Disney is looking forward to bringing back nighttime entertainment as that will help with the crowds that are happening now. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/07/are-disney-parks-back-at-full-capacity-yet-an-executive-answers/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/03/disney-may-never-return-to-former-capacity-to-avoid-parks-bursting-at-the-seams-says-executive/ The first Villains Nite is happening as we record this episode, with the second nite on March 10th. Additional tickets will go on sale March 15th at 9am Pacific time. Tickets are limited and are likely to sell out fast! Proof of full vaccination will be required to attend the event. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/07/hurry-star-wars-celebration-tickets-are-going-on-sale-soon/ An annual sweet treat is returning to the resort! The Fudge Easter Eggs that the food artisans at Disneyland create for Easter this year are rumored to be returning! Each egg has a surprise flavor inside. For those guests who would rather spoil the surprise, checking the label and looking at the ingredients is a good way to find out the filling. A Cast Member told the Disney Food Blog that they could be back as early as this past Sunday. Once they are available, they can be purchased in the Candy Palace. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/05/the-iconic-disneyland-easter-eggs-are-returning-soon/ A new treat has landed at Lamplight Lounge for the Food and Wine Festival. The dress is $128. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/06/warning-if-you-love-disneys-cars-land-hide-your-wallet/ Magic Key Holders may notice a slightly updated Magic Key Terrace. We reported on the refurbishment of the space a few episodes ago and work was supposed to wrap up soon. Due to supply chain issues with some of the items ordered for the area, only some of the updates have been completed so far. The area has seen updated murals, tile accents, and stained glass. New booths, tables, and more will be swapped in as they arrive. New menu items should also be showing up soon. – https://www.micechat.com/315956-disneyland-update-actions-speak-louder-than-words/ Junior Weeklyteers who are fans of Disney Junior, get excited! The signage that was up on the walls around the attraction have been removed. One of them is called “The Happiest Day Game,” which the description reads “It's a delightful game of sharing and discovery! Visit exciting attractions, meet cherished characters, and experience magical moments throughout the Magic Kingdom Park. Along the way, you'll share your favorite ways to spend the day. When Tinker Bell reaches the top of the castle, the game board magically transforms from day to night! It's an enchanting adventure every time you play!” The one that we are most excited for is the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad game! The description reads “This here is the wildest game in the wilderness! Step off the stagecoach and into the cursed mining town of Tumbleweed. Will you find fortune mining the mysterious mountain, or awaken its many dangers? Discover gold-filled veins, grow your mining operations with new equipment, and invest in the town's businesses. News: The crowds at the Disneyland Resort have been quite mild recently. This can be attributed to Southern California schools being back in session, and the imminent availability of the Magic Key program. Locals are now waiting for the Magic Key to go on sale to get access to the parks, instead of purchasing a higher priced 1-5 day ticket. For guests visiting, the attraction wait times have been in the 10 to 20 minute range for much of the week. If you are able, right now is a great time to go to the parks. Time will tell how the crowds will look after the Magic Key program launches next week. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ For guests that have been waiting to get tickets to the Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween parties this year, there is still time! Currently, September 9, 12, 16, and 19th are available, with no dates in October. The event was a ghoulishly fun time in 2019, and we are excited to go this year! The candy trails, decorations, entertainment, and atmosphere are totally worth the ticket price to this event. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ To go along with our news from last week that the bread bowls were being made in the parks again, the Bakery Tour has reopened. The location does have limited hours for the time being, from 8am to 3pm. Also of note in the area are the closing times of the dining locations in this area of the park. DCA closes at 10pm nightly currently, with Rita's Baja Blenders closing at 7pm, Lucky Fortune Cookery closing at 8pm, and Cocina Cucamonga closing at 9pm. So, be sure to check times when thinking of food in the evenings. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ As time rolls on, more entertainment is returning to the parks slowly. This past week, the Bootstrappers are back performing their shanties in New Orleans Square. We hope that more entertainment returns soon like the Dapper Dans on Main Street. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ For listeners who will be in the resort area this weekend, there will be a cupcake decorating activity at Downtown Disney as a promotion for the new Disney Channel show “Disney's Magic Bake-Off.” The decoration will take place Friday, August 20th, through Sunday, August 22nd at 5, 6, and 7pm. The event is free, with limited space. Participants must register in Downtown Disney starting at 4pm each day. Participants will decorate a cupcake with Disneyland Resort Pastry Chef Gracie Gomez. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/13003/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_August_16__22_2021#news3 Some new Coco merchandise will be coming to Disneyland, Disney World, and shopDisney this September. A long-sleeved “Remember Me” shirt, with the saying on the front and Miguel on the shoulder, as well as a Loungefly backpack featuring Miguel, Hector, marigolds, and sugar skulls. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/08/photos-new-coco-loungefly-backpack-and-apparel-coming-to-disney-parks-and-shopdisney-in-september/ The Walt Disney Company quarterly earnings call was last week, here are some highlights. CEO Bob Chapek is enthusiastic about the upcoming Disney Genie app stating “guests will spend less time in line and more time having fun,” but also commented that it will offer the company “substantial commercial opportunities.” The U.S. parks saw the first profitable quarter since the pandemic began in 2020. The international parks are still posting a loss at this time. Disney+ has grown to 116 million subscribers, and November 12th will be Disney+ day, where new shows and movies will be announced for the platform. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/08/wdwnt-daily-recap-8-12-21-disney-releases-q3-earnings-report-walt-disney-world-50th-anniversary-merchandise-arrives-and-more/ The Spa part of the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa is reopening soon! On September 16th, the Tenaya Stone Spa will open for guests. Reservations can be made online for guests of the Disney Hotels for now, with general availability coming at a later date. The name Tenaya translates from the indigenous cultures of the Yosemite Valley as “to dream.” The spa embraces the concept of the natural order of 4, being laid out according to the 4 directions, and aligned with the 4 colors of red, white, black, and yellow. Since then, the park has slowly replaced the concrete with either concrete that has decorative elements in it, like in Frontierland, or brick pavers like much of Main Street sidewalks, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. One of the last bits of this plain concrete is being replaced in front of the Fantasyland Theater at the entrance to Toontown. – https://www.micechat.com/298965-disneyland-update-the-shocking-calm-before-magic-keys-unlock-a-storm/ A refreshing sweet treat is available at the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country. The Watermelon Lemonade Freese with Whipped Cream and Sprinkles is a frozen drink that is reminiscent of watermelon Jolly Ranchers with frozen lemonade. The Disney Food Blog really liked this one, but warned it is not for guests without a sweet tooth. The drink is $5.99 at the Hungry Bear. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/08/14/review-did-we-just-find-one-of-the-best-frozen-drinks-in-disneyland/#more-538404 Discussion Topic: Chris from DisneyChris.com

Goofy's Kitchen will also return on August 18th, but without characters for the time being. The Plaza Inn will be hosting Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park buffet starting August 12th. Stores around the Disneyland Resort have already started stocking new Halloween merchandise. From tees, to ears, to hats, and more, there is something for everyone. Some standout items include a Haunted Mansion/Madame Leota necklace or ear rings, a pair of hitchhiking ghosts socks, and a Haunted Mansion wallpaper folding hand fan. – https://www.micechat.com/298137-disneyland-merchandise-update-spooky-beginnings-mansion-marvel/ and https://www.shopdisney.com/halloween-shop/ Mickey and Minnie have come to the resort in a new way! Strollers at the resort now feature the classic couple, along with their classic red and black color scheme. The old design was black and blue, so this is an upgrade! The sun shades feature Mickey and Minnie on either side of the seat. The wheels are black and yellow to complete the look. For guests needing to rent one, they are $18 a day for the single stroller, and $36 for the double stroller. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/08/07/disneylands-strollers-just-got-a-super-cute-upgrade/ Just a quick reminder to anyone who will be visiting Disneyland in the next few weeks, the Haunted Mansion is scheduled to be down for the transition to Haunted Mansion Holiday from August 16th to September 2nd. This will be the 20th anniversary of the holiday overlay and will feature nods to each of the 20 years in the gingerbread house in the ballroom scene this year. – https://www.micechat.com/297892-disneyland-update-magic-keys-and-cast-member-needs/ Another quick note to guests going to the parks soon, Mickey's Mix Magic, the fireworks show that is currently shown at Disneyland has moved to 9pm from 9:30pm, and starting August 30th, the fireworks portion of the show will be on weekends only, with projections only on the weekdays. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12997/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_August_9__15_2021#news4 With the return of the popular bread bowls in Disney California Adventure, Disney has posted a TikTok video of how they are made! This only represents 3/5 of the total workforce pre-pandemic. Much of the cast that works third shift are still on furlough, with the overnight duties falling to day shift. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/08/06/disneyland-workforce-reaches-19000-unions-want-thousands-more-rehired/ There was a union protest outside of Disneyland on August 5th, representing a number of different Cast Member unions that work at the resort. They protested to call attention to returning to work and fighting for a living wage at the resort. The resort has been understaffed since it's reopening at the end of April and has not been able to get all the cast members to return. – https://www.micechat.com/297892-disneyland-update-magic-keys-and-cast-member-needs/ Another sad situation for Cast Members is the ticket restrictions that have been in place since reopening, making it nearly impossible to use this valuable perk of the job. Cast Members are given three different types of passes to use. Self-admission, which is unlimited, but subject to blockout days, the main entrance pass, which allows cast members and up to three guests into the parks, which is limited to about 16 days per year, with blackouts, and finally complimentary tickets, which are one-day park hoppers given to cast members two to three times a year, with no blockout dates. News: With the higher temperatures on the horizon for Southern California, a new safety policy couldn't come soon enough for cast members. Fully vaccinated cast members can now go mask free outdoors. Masks are still required for all cast members indoors for now. Physical distancing for all cast members, indoors or out has also been phased out. This will greatly help in tight spaces like kitchen areas around the resort. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/06/25/fully-vaccinated-disneyland-employees-no-longer-need-to-wear-masks-outdoors/ and https://www.micechat.com/294044-new-disneyland-procedures-start-june-15-masks-off-no-physical-distancing/ With all of the changes recently to all the safety protocols around the resort, MiceChat posted a guide to all the current policies. These include the new cast member guidelines we talked about previously in this episode, as well as theme park reservations sticking around for the foreseeable future, face coverings no longer required anywhere except for transportation like buses for fully vaccinated guests, un-vaccinated or partially vaccinated guests must still wear masks, physical distancing is no longer required, ride capacity is back at 100% without plexiglass shields, dining capacity has also been increased, indoor queues are back in service, both parking structures are open, out of state guests are allowed, no temperature checks are required, and entertainment has started to return. – https://www.micechat.com/294044-new-disneyland-procedures-start-june-15-masks-off-no-physical-distancing/ A sign that things are coming to an end with the pandemic is the return of single rider lines at a few attractions this week. Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Smuggler's Run, Star Tours, and Splash Mountain at Disneyland, and Radiator Springs Racers, the Incredicoaster, and Grizzly River Run at Disney California Adventure now allow single riders. This should help get as many guests on attractions and out of the lines faster. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/06/26/disneyland-brings-back-single-rider-lines-for-most-popular-attractions/ Some attractions have reopened earlier than expected in the last week! Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Storybook Land Canal Boats both welcomed guests a day or two early. Storybook Land Canal Boats look great and have had a number of their elements updated during the closure. Buzz Lightyear has not been updated and we have seen reports online that some of the attraction vehicles have been tagged out of service. Hopefully maintenance can get to them soon and get Buzz back to 100%! – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/06/photos-video-buzz-lightyear-astro-blasters-soft-reopens-at-disneyland/ Some great news for guests who want to walk around and see Avengers Campus! The land is now open to everyone and the gates that were in place to control the amount of people in the new land have been removed. Guests can now freely enter the land from any of the three entrances. This is making the ability to get food and to enter stores very easy, with little to no wait on most days. – https://www.micechat.com/295081-disneyland-update-topsy-turvy-more-or-less/ For those of you visiting the parks soon, the crowds look to be great! Even though more people are allowed in the parks now, the wait times for attractions have been lower than they were before the lower capacity! This, along with the cast members getting back into the swing of things has made the process much smoother. – https://www.micechat.com/295081-disneyland-update-topsy-turvy-more-or-less/ There have been some rumors that cast members that generally work on parades have been called back to work. This could mean the return of Magic Happens sometime this summer, which only had a couple of weeks to run before the pandemic shut it down. – https://www.micechat.com/295081-disneyland-update-topsy-turvy-more-or-less/ The Disneyland hotel will begin a phased opening this week as the Fantasy Tower opens to guests. Along with the one tower, the two pools and the Monorail water slides will reopen, as well as the fitness center. The Tangaroa Terrace and Trader Sam's will also reopen to the public. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12971/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_June_30__July_4_2021#news1 Construction has started in the park to prepare for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. The facades of the Toontown Five & Dime and the Gag Factory have been demolished to make way for the new entrance for the attraction. Once completed, the new El Capitoon theater will take their place as the new entrance. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/06/photos-video-toontown-five-dime-and-gag-factory-facades-demolished-as-mickey-minnies-runaway-railway-construction-continues-at-disneyland/ We previously reported that mobile scan and go shopping was being tested in World of Disney in Downtown Disney. Now, that system has been expanded into the parks at the Emporium in Disneyland, and Elias & Co. in Disney California Adventure. Guests will use the Disneyland app or scan a QR code in the store to enter the system, then grab a mobile checkout shopping bag and scan the barcodes with their smartphone cameras to add the item to their cart. Once done, guests check out through the app and show a QR code to a cast member on the way out of the store at a designated mobile checkout exit. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/06/25/disneyland-brings-scan-and-go-shopping-to-theme-park-stores/ Hollywood Land is the place for Avengers photo ops. A new Black Panther photo op has appeared this week in the land. It is the same setup used for the previous Black Panther meet and greet, but without the character this time, due to social distancing. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/06/photos-black-panther-photo-op-arrives-in-hollywood-land-at-disney-california-adventure/ Just a quick follow up to something that we talked about a couple of weeks ago. The food waste trashcans have been rolled out to more locations around the resort recently. If you have any food waste, please dump it in these new recepticals so it can be recycled and not just end up in the landfill. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/06/25/disneyland-makes-tossing-out-leftover-food-a-little-less-wasteful/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/06/disneyland-resort-expands-sustainability-efforts-with-new-food-waste-bins/ On June 27th, which was Global Pride Day, Salt & Straw donated 5% of all its proceeds to local LGBTQ+ charities. For the Downtown Disney location, Reach LA was the charity chosen. Reach LA works with young LGBTQ people of color to “increase self sustainability by encouraging creative expression, supporting safe spaces and promoting health and wellness.” – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/26/disneylands-salt-straw-celebrating-global-pride-day-by-donating-to-local-groups/ Another fun treat has made its way to Bing Bong's Sweet Stuff in Pixar Pier. The new Forky cake pop looks like a sweet version of the character himself. The cake pop is sweet vanilla covered in white chocolate, and decorated to look like Forky. Reviews have said that it is pretty moist and very sweet, so be aware of this. Forky costs $5.49. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/24/review-toy-story-fans-will-love-disneys-new-sweet-treat/ Donald Duck Commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6VVOmT0Vk8 Discussion Topic: Evan

News: Since June 15th and the drop of the blueprint for a safer economy restrictions in California, what has changed at Disneyland? A lot, but most of it is good news! Indoor queues have returned, mix that with the removal of social distancing, and attractions returning to full capacity and the parks feel delightfully empty. Dining location capacity has also returned to at or near capacity, making finding a place to sit and eat a lot easier. Mobile order availability has been reduced, allowing more standby ordering to happen, easing the strain to get food. Stores have also returned to full capacity, removing the need for one way entrance and exits of retail locations, making access much easier. – https://www.micechat.com/294489-disneyland-update-the-magic-of-entertainment-returns/ Disneyland is a magical place, and part of what makes it so magical is the entertainment around the resort. This week, a couple of those entertainment options returned. The Disneyland Band is marching down Main Street, and the Citizens of Buena Vista Street are performing on a stage in front of the Carthay Circle Fountain. No word yet on when the rest of the entertainment, like the Dapper Dans will return. – https://www.micechat.com/294489-disneyland-update-the-magic-of-entertainment-returns/ For guests that have been waiting for over a year to trade their pins, the wait is finally over! Pin trading has returned to most locations in the form of the pin boards. Cast member lanyard trades have not returned at this time, but is expected to return in the not too distant future. – https://www.micechat.com/294489-disneyland-update-the-magic-of-entertainment-returns/ Guests visiting Disney California Adventure will have a much easier time accessing the new Avengers Campus. This week, the line to access the new area has dropped from 5+ hours all day, to a line in the morning at opening, and being non-existent by as early as 11am everyday. – https://www.micechat.com/294489-disneyland-update-the-magic-of-entertainment-returns/ Fans of the new Disney+ original Loki are in for a treat at Avengers Campus! Since the premiere, each week when Loki appears in Avengers Campus, his outfit reflects the one he wears in the show from that week. So far, he has appeared as standard Loki in his Asgardian outfit, then his jumpsuit from episode 1, and then in his jacket from the Time Variance Authority. We expect to see more changes as the character changes in the show. – https://www.micechat.com/294489-disneyland-update-the-magic-of-entertainment-returns/ It appears that the virtual queue test for Indy has been discontinued with the reopening of indoor queues and social distancing relaxation. The attraction, just like other attractions in the park, has returned to full capacity making the line move quickly for standby guests. – https://www.micechat.com/294489-disneyland-update-the-magic-of-entertainment-returns/ This September, Gay Days is returning to the resort. From September 17th through the 19th, the unofficial event will bring a sea of red t-short wearing members and ally's of the LGBTQ++ community. Previously, the event took place the first weekend in October. A schedule hasn't been announced yet, but will be posted at the link in our show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/18/gay-days-is-coming-back-to-disneyland-this-year/ and https://www.gaydaysanaheim.com/GDA/ The limited presentation of Rise of the Resistance that has been utilized since Disneyland reopened has been discontinued and the original flow has returned. Guests progressing through the attraction previously skipped the pre-show to keep under the limitations from the state to keep indoor attractions under 15 minutes. With the limitation dropped, the full pre-show is back. – https://www.micechat.com/294489-disneyland-update-the-magic-of-entertainment-returns/ The force is strong with coffee lovers in Star Wars Galaxys Edge. A new Cold Brew Coffee topped with Sweet Cream Cheese and Chocolate Puffs has arrived at Docking Bay 7. The drink is topped with Cocoa Puffs, adding an interesting texture and flavor to the drink. The beverage is available for lunch and dinner, and not breakfast. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/17/review-there-are-cocoa-puffs-in-disneylands-new-coffee-drink-and-we-aint-mad/ A favorite unique set of items have returned to Star Wars Galaxys Edge. The detonator Coke bottles have been restocked, replacing the plain Coke bottles that were available when the parks reopened. – https://www.micechat.com/294489-disneyland-update-the-magic-of-entertainment-returns/ There aren't too many discounts to be had at the resort at this time, unelss you would like a great deal on accommodations at Disney hotels. News: Arriving early seems to be the best bet when it comes to Touch of Disney. For those folks staying at a hotel on Harbor, the access is easier and you can arrive to Downtown Disney earlier than the 11:30am Mickey and Friends crowds. For locals, there is also the option to park at the Anaheim Hotel for $10 and walk over. The crowds do pick up in the afternoon and early evening, so getting in and ordering some food right away is a good idea. Avoiding food and checking out the characters and photo ops in the afternoon when it is busiest is the best idea. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/03/18/what-does-a-sold-out-a-touch-of-disney-crowd-look-like-at-disneyland/ Touch of Disney hasn’t been all sunshine and churros. Guests online and even in our community, reported some hiccups with the opening weekend of the event. Guests arriving to Mickey and Friends at 11:30 when the garage opened, then had to walk the tram route, which resulted in getting the the gates after the noon start time. Entrance was slowed down due to having to scan the ticket, take guests photos, then scanning the $25 food gift card to enter. Mobile ordering is highly encouraged, but also had long waits for food once ordered, that in some cases, was faster to stand in line and order at the booth instead. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12893/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_March_22__28_2021 Something interesting popped up online this week with guests being able to see different angles into Avenger’s Campus with Touch of Disney going on. It appears that the Web Slingers attraction has a part of the track outside on the roof! We looked at some aerial photos to see if we could 100% confirm this, but there wasn’t a good angle to do so. There is a piece of concept art that has Mission Breakout in the background, so it could show proof of this. We were under the impression that the stunt show would be in this area, so we will see when the land and this attraction officially open to the public. – https://www.micechat.com/285785-disneyland-gets-ready-to-reopen-as-california-adventures-food-festival-kicks-off/ Attendees of the Touch of Disney event are able to look into Avenger’s Campus and see one of the decorative highlights of the new area – the Quinjet! It is parked on top of the location of the possible future location of the phase 2 big Avenger’s e-ticket attraction. – https://www.micechat.com/285785-disneyland-gets-ready-to-reopen-as-california-adventures-food-festival-kicks-off/ Guests were greeted with some unexpected refurbishments going on within California Adventure at the start of the Touch of Disney event. The rotunda for Ariel’s Undersea Adventure is behind scaffolding and being painted, as well as quite a bit of work around Pacifc Wharf, specifically the Cocina Cucamounga. – https://www.micechat.com/285785-disneyland-gets-ready-to-reopen-as-california-adventures-food-festival-kicks-off/ One amazing thing that has returned with the Touch of Disney event are the PhotoPass photographers! There are a number of locations that have been setup to take advantage of their return. There are also some locations that are setup without PhotoPass photographers that are just plain fun! There is a Mickey mural on the side of the D-Lish booth, a D23 Mickey Hands mural near Ghiradelli, butterfly wings by Paradise Garden, and more. For a complete list, check out the link in the show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/03/20/heres-every-photo-op-at-disney-california-adventures-new-event/ During the Touch of Disney event, the games of Pixar Pier are open for guests to enjoy. Dividers have been installed between the seats and cast members are cleaning and sanitizing between each game. The games were free to play during the event, but it is unclear if it will remain that way. – https://www.laughingplace.com/w/news/2021/03/19/games-of-the-pixar-pier-operating-during-touch-of-disney-event-at-disney-california-adventure/ Legacy Passholders have a few places to pick up some nice swag at Touch of Disney. Over in Paradise Gardens, there is an AP corner with a photo op for the 20th anniversary of DCA, along with a Legacy Passholder magnet and button. The 65th Anniversary of Disneyland AP magnet is also still available at most merchandise locations, just be sure to ask. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/03/18/photos-check-out-the-exclusive-items-legacy-passholders-can-snag-in-disneyland/ More details have been trickling out about the new storyline and themeing for the World Famous Jungle Cruise this past week. The new story will center around Alberta Falls, the granddaughter of famed explorer Albert Falls, and is now the proprietor of the Jungle Navigation Company who operates the Jungle Cruise. For full details, visit the links that we have in the show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/03/jungle-cruise-adds-new-characters-mischievous-wildlife-and-skipper-humor-to-classic-attraction/ and https://www.micechat.com/280932-breaking-news-major-changes-coming-to-the-jungle-cruise-at-disneyland-and-magic-kingdom/ The Disneyland Hotel turned 65 back in October, and there is finally some merchandise to celebrate. There are tees, a sweater, and more available at the Wonderground Gallery in Downtown Disney. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/03/photos-disneyland-hotel-65th-anniversary-apparel-debuts-at-disneyland-resort/ Salt and Straw has done it again with another interesting take on ice cream. This time, some of your favorite cereals are now an option! Some options recreate Lucky Charms, Cocoa Crisps, Peanut Butter Captain Munch, Rice Crispies, and Corn Flakes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/03/20/your-favorite-cereals-are-now-ice-cream-flavors-in-disneyland/ Tortilla Jo’s will have an Easter Brunch Menu on Sunday, April 4, 2021. In what might be a surprise to some, the satisfaction ratings are above where they were before the pandemic. This could be caused by the lower attendace levels, which makes for a more pleasant experience, the precautions Disney has taken to keep everyone safe, or just that people are happy to be out of the house doing anything. He also stated that the parks will continue to be more magical when more guests return. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/03/disney-ceo-bob-chapek-states-guest-satisfaction-at-parks-is-higher-now-compared-to-pre-pandemic/ Bob Iger was interviewed for the SiriusXM business show Leadership Matters. This week, the State released new guidance for theme park reopening, what that means for Disneyland, plus Disney’s reaction to the news, a pleasant surprise from Bob Chapek during the shareholders call, D23 celebrates 20 years of DCA, we finish our talk with former cast member Dave, and more! News: The State of California released new guidance on the reopening of theme parks througout the state. Theme parks can now open at 15% capacity in the red tier, 25% in the orange tier, and 35% in the yellow tier. Some other restrictions include no indoor dining, limits on indoor attractions, and visits are limited to residents of California. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/03/05/disneyland-universal-and-other-california-theme-parks-can-reopen-april-1/ and https://www.micechat.com/284100-breaking-disneyland-reopening-plans-revealed/ Disneyland President Ken Potrock released a statement shortly after the revised guidelines were posted stating they are encouraged by the revisions and are looking forward to reopening in spring and getting thousands of cast members back to work, allowing other local businesses to open as well. – https://twitter.com/DisneyParksNews/status/1367974539397795844/photo/1 With the announcement of the ability for the parks to reopen on April 1st, there are still a lot of things that have to land in place to actually be able to open. First, Disney has to decide if opening at the lower capacity is financially possible, then cast members have to be called back to work and re-trained. Part of this re-training is becoming recertified on the attraction to be able to operate them in the state of California. Senior attraction operators need to be called back in earlier to get recertified, so they can then train the other cast members for them to get certified. – https://www.micechat.com/284685-disneyland-update-not-quite-as-soon-as-you-think/ On the Disney Company Shareholders meeting Tuesday, Bob Chapek stated that they hope to have Disneyland open in late April. There is no date they are ready to announce, but if the cases in Orange County continue on the decline, guests could be welcomed back shortly after the Touch of Disney event ends on April 19th. Chapek stated that they are calling back 10,000 cast members in preperation. – https://twitter.com/DisneyParksNews/status/1369358327562477568/photo/1 D23 is hosting a virtual event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Disney California Adventure. Tickets are free for D23 Gold members, and $11.50 for D23 general members. The panel will include a multitude of Imagineers and others that worked to bring DCA to life. The panel will be available for viewing from March 10th at 4pm Pacific to March 26th at 11:45pm Pacific. – https://d23.com/d23-event/d23-x-walt-disney-imagineering-magical-milestones-disney-california-adventure-park-20th-anniversary/ Tickets for the Touch of Disney event went on sale last week with no specifics, other than the date. Guests hit up the site at midnight pacific time to no update, then at 7am, then 8am, and finally around 9ish, a button appeared to take guests to a queue to get tickets. This queue then lead to another queue to actually get tickets, which for most folks we talked to said “more than an hour.” Once guests got to the online sales page, the process was quick and easy, with no major hiccups. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12881/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_March_8__14_2021 MiceChat has some new photos from the skies above Disneyland this week, giving us a glimpse into the park. Lighting was turned on down Main Street, the pink lapacho trees are starting to bloom in the hub, and cocktail tables have been setup around Jolly Holiday and the Plaza Inn. News: This piece of news is strictly in the RUMOR category, but thought it was possibly exciting enough to at least mention on the show. There is a rumor, posted over at Disneyland News Today, that Main Street, USA is planning to open sometime in mid-March. This would be approximately a year since the park closed to guests on March 14th last year. If this is true, Main Street should be open to guests just like Buena Vista Street is currently. No word on how close guests will be able to get to Sleeping Beauty Castle, or what will be open. A new, limited ticketed event will allow Disneyland favorites from around the entire resort to be enjoyed once again. The rest of Disney California Adventure, minus all the attractions, will be accessible during this event, starting in mid-March. This event is also expected to bring 1,000 cast members back to work. Since we last recorded, there were rumors of guidelines being released to allow the parks, and other amusement parks throughout the state to open, then they were postponed, then Bob Iger left the task force that was working on the guidelines, then more and more Anaheim area organizations are pressuring the state and Governor Gavin Newson to allow the parks to open. The guidelines that were rumored to be suggested were that “individual theme parks can reopen only once their county reaches the least-restrictive “minimal” risk level, they must operate at 25% of attendance capacity, and limit visitors to residents living within a 120-mile radius of each theme park.” The biggest issue with this was that to get to the minimal risk level would basically mean waiting until the pandemic was over. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/10/02/news-early-details-of-californias-theme-park-reopening-guidelines-revealed/ and https://www.laughingplace.com/w/news/2020/10/01/california-attractions-and-parks-association-asks-state-not-to-finalize-reopening-guidelines-until-modifications-are-made/ and https://www.laughingplace.com/w/news/2020/10/01/bob-iger-leaves-gavin-newsom-economic-recovery-advisory-group/ and https://www.laughingplace.com/w/news/2020/10/02/california-officials-to-work-with-theme-park-operators-before-issuing-reopening-guidelines/ Guests can now step inside the gates of Disney California Adventure to shop, but it isn’t what it sounds like. News: This weekend was Labor Day in the US, and Downtown Disney was very busy. The limitations on guests in the shopping district were upheld, but this lead to long, physically distant, lines in the parking lot before the security tents to get into the area. Disneyland’s social media accounts were keeping guests informed of parking limitations throughout the weekend. – https://www.micechat.com/269469-disneyland-update-and-the-winner-is/ and https://www.mouseplanet.com/12746/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_September_7__13_2020#news1 Handheld folding fans have appeared at the resort and just in time for the massive heat wave that has been happening in California. There are a lot of fun options to choose from. Dr. Facilier sports the word “Shade” on his, The Evil Queen has “Queen” displayed, there is a plain Disneyland fan that has the retro-multi-colored text on it, an Orange Bird fan that is more of an icon out in Florida, and finally a Hei Hei fan that has the lovable chicken and his name. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/09/photos-three-new-folding-fans-featuring-dr-facilier-the-evil-queen-and-a-rainbow-disneyland-resort-logo/ Since our eipsode last week, new pictures of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway construction have been posted online. Newsome followed up by saying that there were still some details to work out, but as soon as they were at a point to comment, they would. – https://www.ocregister.com/2020/09/02/newsom-california-making-a-lot-of-progress-toward-reopening-theme-parks/ This Tuesday, Cast Members were spotted in front of Disneyland installing signage related to COVID-19 changes in the parks. The red level is the second most restrictive, but allows indoor restaurants, and movie theaters at 25%, and indoor shopping at 50%. News: The State of California moved Orange County, where Disneyland is located, off the COVID watch list last week. However, this isn’t as meaningful since shortly after, the state came out with a new set of guidelines which moved Orange County to the highest risk level of “widespread”. The new guidelines don’t mention theme parks at all, but the state is working on seperate guidelines for theme parks specifically. No word yet on when that will be released. – https://www.micechat.com/268822-disneyland-update-the-blueprint-for-reopening/ In a bit of a click-bait headline, Walt Disney World News Today posted that the lights are on once again at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, at least at the main entrances. The click bait part of the theadline stated that the parks were lit up in preperation for imminent reopening, which is not the case. It is, however, nice to see the train station and first part of Buena Vista Street lit up again and adds much needed atmosphere to the esplanade for those heading to Downtown Disney. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/08/disneyland-resort-lights-illuminate-anaheim-once-again/ Josh D’Amaro, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman appeared on “The Dow Report” last week and stated that Disney is “ready” to reopen the parks as soon as guidelines allow. Disneyland and California Adventure have both installed plexiglass safety shields at the entry turnstiles. D’Amaro also went on to talk about the procedures they ahve taken to make sure that the parks are safe and the trust that people have for Disney. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/08/josh-damaro-discusses-disney-parks-reopening-in-new-interview-says-were-ready-to-reopen-disneyland-resort-parks-when-guidelines-permit/ The Tokyo Disney Resort is entering the second stage of reopening this week, and with it may come some clues as to how the Disneyland Resort may handle some circumstances. For example, Tokyo will be running the first parade at any Disney park since COVID-19 started. They also have a new Beauty and the Beast dark ride that is opening, which could show how Avengers Campus might open like in these COVID times. It also gives us a hint at the timelines for nighttime fireworks and other shows coming back in stage 2. – https://www.ocregister.com/2020/09/01/what-tokyo-disney-changes-could-mean-for-disneyland/ The Disneyland Horticulture team is working hard on getting the areas around the resort ready for fall. Signs declaring “We will soon be rolling our the green carpet for our Disneyland guests” have been placed around where the new fall flowers and displays will be planted soon. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2020/08/photos-landscaping-team-ready-to-roll-out-the-green-carpet-for-fall-flower-displays-at-the-disneyland-resort/ Avengers Campus is chugging right along, and proof of that is from the Disney Auditions website that is looking for stunt performers for Captain America, Black Panther, and Black Widow. The posting is for a live action stunt show in the new land. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12741/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_August_31__September_6_2020#news5 Disney stage shows and nighttime spectaculars are already some of the most technologically advanced performances anywhere in the world, but Disney is always working on new technology to push the envelope further. A new patent filed by Disney shows a use for drones to control show elements. The patent doesn’t just use the drone itself as an effect, but uses the downdraft from the propellers to make an entirely new effect. As a reminder, just because Disney files a patent for something doesn’t meant that we will see it soon, or ever. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/08/disney-enterprises-files-patent-for-further-use-of-drones-to-control-show-elements/ Even though it has been a couple months since Disneyland turned 65, there is still more new merchandise coming out that celebrates this milestone. A new 65th anniversary sipper featuring Sleeping Beauty Castle has arrived and looks like a snow globe that you can drink from! A special release of pins also arrived that show off some of the classic attractions from Disneyland. There are 13 pins in the collection, each limited to 2,000 and cost $17.99, limited to 2 per guest. The 13 designs are: King Arthur’s Carousel, Dumbo, Mr. Toad, Storybook Land, Peter Pan, Casey Jr., Mark Twain, Autopia, the Disneyland Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Mad Tea Party, Snow White, and the Main Street Cinema. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/08/photos-new-limited-edition-disneyland-resort-65th-anniversary-attraction-pins-featuring-mr-toads-wild-ride-snow-whites-scary-adventures-main-street-cinema-and-more-debut/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2020/08/photos-new-sleeping-beauty-castle-sipper-debuts-for-disneylands-65th-anniversary/ More new ear headbands have appeared in the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney this week. The new designs are a yellow set that is made of a soft, velvet like fabric, a emerald green set that is covered in sequins with a shiny bow. For Halloween, a Minnie Mouse Witch Ear Headband has been released. The band features black sequin ears, topped with a candy corn inspired witch hat and purple bow. Teresa already purchased this last set of ears that light up and feature Oogie Boogie on them. – https://www.micechat.com/268822-disneyland-update-the-blueprint-for-reopening/ Not only is Halloween coming up, but so is the Dia de los Muertos celebration. This means a whole lot of new Coco mercahndise is hitting the shelves. The crossbody purse that is in the shape and design of Ernesto de la Cruz’s guitar is one of the stand out items. There are also some plush items. We expect there to be more as the celebration nears. – https://www.micechat.com/268822-disneyland-update-the-blueprint-for-reopening/ The Disney Parks blog has posted a video on how to make your own Mickey tie-dye shirt! Stephen, a Walt Disney World Ambassador, had shown off his Mickey tie-dye shirt which is what sparked this how-to video. If you have some time, give it a try! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/08/disneymagicmoments-how-to-make-a-popular-mickey-tie-dye-shirt-at-home/ With the Song of the South on the way out of the parks, specifically from Splash Mountain, the iconic Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah song has also disappeared from the music loops around the resort. Disney released a statement that “The removal of the song from Downtown Disney’s background music is part of a continuous process to deliver an environment that features stories that are relevant and inclusive.” – https://wdwnt.com/2020/08/disney-issues-statement-regarding-removal-of-splash-mountains-zip-a-dee-doo-dah-from-disneyland-resort-music-loops/ Some keen eyes over at DisneyPlusInformer.com have spotted programming code on Disney+ that points to the addition of a group watch feature that may be coming soon! This feature would allow a group of people to watch the same show or movie at the same time in sync with each other. It appears that the system will also have a chat feature. No word on when it will launch or what platforms outside of the browser that will be supported. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2020/08/disney-developing-new-group-watch-party-function-coming-soon/ Discussion: Hollywood Studios

The Emporium on Main Street is surrounded by scaffolding and is probably being repainted. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is also very active at the moment, not showing any signs of slowing down progress. – https://www.micechat.com/266881-disneyland-update-magic-mayhem-parks-bleed-billions/ We wouldn’t count on anything for sure, but the Disneyland Hotels are accepting reservations starting in October as of now. As we have reported on numerous times now, these dates keep getting announced and pushed back. The fact that reservations are open does not mean that the parks are going to be open, or that the reservations won’t be delayed further. – https://www.micechat.com/266881-disneyland-update-magic-mayhem-parks-bleed-billions/ Cast Members that are returning to work at Disneyland will be provided with a special care package that includes face masks, thermometer, hand sanitizer, and a pamphlet with cast member resources. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/08/disneyland-resort-provides-care-packages-with-face-masks-hand-sanitizer-and-more-for-all-cast-members-returning-to-work/ California State Officials are currently reviewing and working on how and when to allow theme parks such as Disneyland to reopen in the state. Once they have come up with a plan that will provide detailed guidance, the California Department of Public Health will work with the theme parks to open. There is currently no time frame on when this might be, as conditions continue to change in the state. – https://www.ocregister.com/2020/08/10/state-reviewing-how-and-when-to-reopen-disneyland-and-other-california-theme-parks/ The Morning Consult research company and the Hollywood Reporter surveyed 2,200 people in late July about how safe they would feel retuning to Disneyland and other theme parks. 78% of those surveyed had no interest in any theme park this summer. Attendance caps and sanitzation stations are helping respondents to feel safer going back to the parks. This doesn’t just impact Disney, as the Cruise Lines International Association was the ones who mandated the suspension of sailings. – https://www.micechat.com/266881-disneyland-update-magic-mayhem-parks-bleed-billions/ It is barely August which means that Halloween season has started! shopDIsney has released some new Halloween merchandise from the parks. More new merchandise has been released to celebrate including t-shirts, a knapsack, and water bottles. The knapsack in particular is a relly great item with a lot of little details and workmanship for $49.99. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/08/photos-new-jungle-cruise-merchandise-from-disneyland-resort-celebrates-the-attractions-65th-anniversary/ The Disneyland Hotel has also recieved some new merchandise in the new “The Happiest Stay on Earth” line. Guests can pick up a beach towel with retro Mickey and Minnie, a sweatshirt with Minnie lounging by the pool, mugs, or a trinket dish. The designs are all very retro and fit in with the late 50’s to early 60’s feel. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/08/photos-new-the-happiest-stay-on-earth-disneyland-hotel-merchandise-checks-in-to-disneyland-resort/ Guests that have visited Downtown Disney recenty may have received a survey on their experience. The survey covers topics like what guests thought of the health and safety measures, to how comfortable they would be going back to the parks. Also covered were things like Downtown Disney cleanliness and atmosphere and decor opinion. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/08/photos-disneyland-resort-surveying-downtown-disney-district-guests-on-health-and-safety-measures-and-their-likelihood-to-visit-parks/ Disney Paper Parks is continuing to expand! Parts 3 and 4 were posted online this week. Part 3 is Sleeping Beauty Castle with fireworks, and part 4 is a carousel with trees to decorate your park, plus a horse drawn trolley. These are so fun to look at and build. We wonder if they are going to end up doing the whole park! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/07/disney-parks-blog-presents-disney-paper-parks-designed-by-walt-disney-imagineering-part-4/ and https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/07/disney-parks-blog-presents-disney-paper-parks-designed-by-walt-disney-imagineering-part-3/ Disney celebrated Christmas in July last week and as part of that celebration, shared a mini-gingerbread bundt cake with an orange vanilla sauce. The recipe makes 12 mini-cakes and has quite an extensive shopping list, but looks delicious none the less! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/07/disneymagicmoments-cooking-up-the-magic-christmas-in-july-recipe-for-mini-gingerbread-bundt-cakes-with-orange-vanilla-sauce/ Going by the reservations available at the Disneyland Resort Hotels, it seems unlikely that Disneyland will reopen before Labor Day. Currently, reservations are only open for booking from the Saturday before Labor Day. This doesn’t mean that the resort will reopen then, as this date has been pushed back almost every week since July. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12719/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_August_3__9_2020#news6 Discussion Topic: Adult Beverages in the Parks with Habby

News: Downtown Disney will reopen this Thursday, July 9th at 10am, following a Cast Member preview on July 8th. The modified hours will be from 10am to 8pm for the time being. If you are planning on going, be aware that the Simba parking lot will be the only lot open. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12694/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_July_6__12_2020#news1 Downtown Disney will have a cast member preview on Wednesday, July 8th. Cast Members can register on the HUB portal to attend. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/07/downtown-disney-district-reopening-cast-member-preview-to-be-held-july-8th-at-the-disneyland-resort/ Orange County was placed on the monitoring list by the State of California and has been required to close indoor operations for the next three weeks. How will this effect the reopening of Downtown Disney? Businesses in the categories of restaurants, wineries, movie theaters and family entertainment, zoos, museums, and cardrooms must close all indoor locations, and bars must close all operations. Much of Downtown Disney is indoors, but retail was not included on the list, so World of Disney and similar stores can reopen. We suspect that outdoor seating at establishments like Napoli will be available. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/07/orange-county-shutting-down-all-indoor-operations-due-spike-in-covid-19-cases-downtown-disney-district-reopening-potentially-impacted/ The VOID VR experience in Downtown Disney has been permanently closed. Disney has posted a “Notice of Event Default and Lease Termination” and cites a breach of the Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture license. The VOID must cease all use of the Disney Intellectual Property, including Star Wars and Ralph Breaks the Internet, which the company had VR versions of in their experience. – https://www.micechat.com/262810-disneyland-update-partial-reopening-aerial-photos/ and https://wdwnt.com/2020/07/the-void-at-downtown-disney-district-permanently-shut-down-due-to-license-agreement-breach-disney-springs-location-potentially-affected/ Disney has expanded on their face mask requirements this week. Masks are required on anyone 2 and older, fully cover the nose and mouth and remain hands free, fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face, be secured with ties or ear loops. and be made of breathable material, either disposable or reusable. Costume masks are not allowed. – https://www.micechat.com/262810-disneyland-update-partial-reopening-aerial-photos/ For those of you listening who have been out and about recently, you may have noticed that mask wearing is considered by some as something optional. With that in mind, how is Disneyland going to enforce the mask wearing requirement? The resort plans to deploy a team of cast members whose job will be to enforce this rule and other safety requirements. The new team will be the “Guest Experience Team” and will be throughout the parks to answer questions and to remind guests to comply with the measures. – https://www.ocregister.com/2020/07/01/how-disneyland-will-enforce-mandatory-mask-rule-when-park-reopens/ I’m sure everyone listening is missing the Disney parks, so why not download, print out, and make your own at home? The Disney Parks Blog posted “Disney Paper Parks” sheets online, created by Imagineers Stephanir Jazmines and Amy Young. Simply go to the link in our show notes to download and print these fun sheets. When completed, they form a 3-d version of Main Street, USA and floats from the new Magic Happens Parade. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2020/07/walt-disney-imagineering-presents-new-disney-paper-parks-printable-3d-model-activity-sheets/ MiceChat posted some aerial images this week that show the work on the walkways around the hub appear to be nearing completion. These projects must be completed before guests return to the parks, whenever that may be. – https://www.micechat.com/262810-disneyland-update-partial-reopening-aerial-photos/ Disney released an update to the College Program suspension that was put in place shortly after the parks closure back in March. They have postponed the program until further notice and are in the process of refunding program fees and contacting the members of the program. They also state that the program will continue in the future, and are amending the eligibility requirements to allow graduates that were accepted to re-apply when it does start up again. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12694/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_July_6__12_2020#news2 New retro designs from the 70’s, 80’s, and 2000’s are available on shopDisney for some Disneyland and Walt Disney World t-shirts! News: The State of California has approved Orange County to enter “expanded stage 2” of reopening. This includes dine-in restaurants and shopping malls. The state’s Resiliency Roadmap still doesn’t allow bars, tourist hotels, or theme parks from opening. What this does allow for is the possibility of Downtown Disney reopening. Following the lead of Disney Springs out in Florida, Downtown Disney is not expected to open until late June at the earliest. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/05/23/news-disneylands-orange-county-approved-to-move-into-stage-two-of-reopening/#more-340676 and https://www.mouseplanet.com/12663/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_May_26__31_2020#news4 We keep talking about all the stuff that is still closed in the Disney Universe. Shanghai Disneyland, as we reported before is open in China, Disney Springs out in Florida is partially opened, and character dining at Hong Kong Disneyland’s Enchanted Rose Garden in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. The photo is of Rebecca up in Walt’s apartment, standing next to the light and looking out over Main Street USA. She captioned it with “I remember my first day on the job at Disneyland, going up to Walt’s apartment, and looking out the window to see the amazing Cast Members and wonderful guests. It was a powerful moment, and one that has stuck with me ever since. I feel extremely grateful to have had this experience and to have met so many incredible people along the way. As I embark on my next role as chairman of Disney’s international business units and streaming services including Disney+, I want to thank all of you for making the Disneyland Resort truly the Happiest Place on Earth. Feature - A fun article to talk about5 Things Disneyland has over Disneyworldhttp://blogs.ocweekly.com/navelgazing/2011/11/five_things_disneyland_has_ove.php Tip of the WeekCandy cane time again If your holiday tradition includes a trip to Disneyland for one of its famous fresh-made candy canes, here are the dates and details you'll need to start making plans for 2011. The first batch of fresh candy canes will be made at the Candy Palace on Main Street, U.S.A. on November 30. The candy cane schedule usually begins the day after Thanksgiving, but with an early holiday this year the park seems to be waiting a week, but adding an extra day in December. The full schedule is:Wednesday, November 30Friday, December 2Tuesday, December 6Friday, December 9Monday, December 12Friday, December 16Wednesday, December 21 Last year the candy canes cost $9.95 each, and were limited to two per person. We expect pricing and limits to be similar this year. Disneyland usually makes two—sometimes three—batches a day, but the number of candy canes in each batch can vary based in temperature and humidity. The typical batch yields fewer than 90 canes. If Disneyland follows the normal operating pattern, tickets will be distributed at the Candy Palace at park opening each day, with the first batch of candy canes usually available to purchase about one hour after the official park opening time. The second and third batches are usually ready 90-minutes to two hours apart. Twitter Daniel @disgeekpodcast Tommy @tommypixPaul @disgeekpaul Email us at- podcast@disgeek.com Call us at 661 450-8290.
